Cheap and Cheerful - Face Powder

In the last couple of weeks I’ve gone a bit over the top with my expensive make up products (oops) so I’ve needed to cut back on certain areas of my make up where I don’t feel like buying THE most expensive product is necessary. 265 more words

La Poudre Peau Fine de Caron in ‘Naturelle’

Hi, girls!

Today my post is dedicated to the best loose powder I have ever used, La Poudre Peau Fine de Caron, in ‘Naturelle’.

Converted to powder

I have a confession to make. Since the hot temperatures have kicked in, I’ve been unapologetically hooked on powdering – my face of makeup doesn’t feel… 286 more words

Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Power.

In the world of makeup you have two options for face powder: pigmented or non-pigmented. I use both. I love pigmented setting powders when I first apply my makeup. It gives me a bit more color and adds some life to my foundation. When it comes to touch-ups I find pigmented powders to be nightmare. You spend all your time applying blush and bronzer to wipe it away later with pigmented powder. No thanks. This is when I reach for my non-pigmented friend: Tarte Smooth Operator.

I love Tarte Cosmetics. I would use all Tarte products if some did not rank higher than I feel comfortable. Truth be told, they are much safer than most cosmetics and are available in most cities (if you have an Ulta). Tarte is definitely high quality and Smooth Operator is a product I would not want to live without. It is a silica based product. To the eye it is white, but blends clear on your skin. It feels silky smooth to the touch. The way I describe Smooth Operator is luxurious. Pigmented powder makes your makeup look dull and diluted after touch-ups, because you are adding an extra layer of color to your face. Smooth Operator soaks up oil and gives life to your face. I truly feel as though I have touched up more than my powder. It really does what is says, it smooths everything out.

I first received Smooth Operator as a sample (pictured). It is small, maybe the size of a half dollar. I use it daily and have yet to finish it. I purchased the original size for $32 and there is ton of product for the price! For how little you have to use the large container will last me probably a year. This is a must have product!

(I recommend the loose powder, not the solid form. The solid contains different ingredients that I care not to use.)
