For those who don’t know Music For Life: 3 radio-dj’s lock themselves up in a glass house, and make radio 24/7. To make it more difficult, they can’t eat a thing, and have to live on juice and water. With this action they try to earn as much money as possible for an important Red Cross-cause.

And every year, I ‘m totally obsessed by it all! I can’t step away from the tv or radio. Fuzzy feeling… It’s the inner “world peace”-ien in me…

Now, this year, the three dj’s are Siska, Tomas and Sam. And especially Siska is a hidden beauty-freak, I’m telling ya! Nothing makes her more happy than a handful of make-upgoodies! So I just sent her a couple of beauty-questions ofcourse.

1.Hi Siska! You are totally crazy about make-up, right. Wat are your fav products at this very moment?

Estée Lauder Idealist Illuminators

My foundation of MAC is still my fav. But at the moment, I’m also totally into ‘Idealist’ and ‘Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator’ from Estée Lauder. That really saves my day! It gives a nice glow and feels so fresh. Love it! And I also started with ‘Advanced Night Repair’? Haha! Hooked, I’m telling ya!

2. How do you keep your skin winterproof?

Using a lot, and I say, A LOT of moisturizer!!! I always have really dry hands during wintertime, and I’m still looking for the perfect hand cream which does its job without being too greasy. For my legs I use bodylotion from La Roche Possay. This moisturizes really well, and it hasn’t got too much perfume in it.

3. What does Tomas (fellow DJ and boyfriend) do to take care of himself?

Tomas uses facial cream. At least, when he isn’t growing a beard, because than it all gets stuck…You know what I mean . And he showers and uses deodorant everyday. Luckily.

4. How does the juice diet in the Glass House effect your looks?

My face gets fresher and sharper by being on the juice diet. Which is more than welcome, haha! I just got a baby, and I notice that i’m still retaining water. But I hope the last bits our out by now.

5. Which national or international woman do you consider as hot?

Veronique Leysen

That’s a difficult one! I personally prefer women who look quite natural. Like Veronique Leysen. She is hot and fresh at the same time! And ofcourse, Scarlett Johansson. She always looks so beautifully made up!

6.Can we spoil you with something over there?

Well yeah! I could use a really good balm for my lips! And that perfect hand cream

Oh…and I forgot my shampoo…hihi…again!

Oeh, and do you have the new shimmering powder of Chanel? Greedy greedy me, haha!

7. Which celebrity has an awful look, in your opinion?

Make-upwise, I think the look of Courtney Love is a bit…euh… run out. Haha! But that’s a personal choice, right. If a woman likes to look like a colouring book, I’m not gonna stop her.

8.Between you and me: Does Sam (fellow DJ, and really loved by the boyzzzz) use make-up?

I’ve seen some Touche Eclat over here, which isn’t mine! Just saying….

9. Can you give us an oldskool beauty-trick?

Yes. Use rose water as a tonic/lotion for your face. It doesn’t cost much and it’s really soft for dry and sensitive skin.

Oh, and switch between cheaper and more expensive shampoo. My hair loves it

10. Does fashion magazines have an effect on your self esteem?

No, I think not. I like to read them, and watch the pics, that’s all.I know how I have to make myself look at my best, and i’m loyal to it! But I’m open for remarks

In all sizes, shapes, heights and colours!

Now, the bigger girls among us know how important a good bra is. I  sound a bit like Trinny&Susannah now, but the right bra really makes you lose 5kg in a splitsecond.

Your boobs need to be UP and centered, without letting them burst out of your shirt. And you can’t expect this from a 15 euro-bra from H&M. Wealthy bosoms deserve wealthy lingerie!

And so, one evening, I ended up at the headquarters of lingerie giant VandeVelde (Marie Jo, Marie Jo l’Aventure, Marie Jo Intense, PrimaDonna, PrimaDonna Twist, Andres Sarda). Lovely atmosphere, lot’s of bra-stories, a cheeky mini-fashion show and a personal fitting…. This is what I call an interesting girls-night-out!

And after the fitting, as icing on the lushious cake, we could choose a piece of the newest collection of PrimaDonna! How sweet was that!

I went for a classic cut, embroidered shaping body, for that instant sexyness. (see last two pics)

The conclusion: Girls with bigger boobs need to cherish what they have. By using a quality-piece of lingerie you show to yourself, and the rest of the world, that you’re proud of your bitties, and that they deserve all the respect.

Genuine nail-lovers already know Essie. But except from some exclusive selling-point, it was quiet hard to get your hands on an Essie-product, in Belgium. And that’s about to change, my ladies! Because from now, Essie is in total collaboration with L’Oréal, and will be available in Di-shops and Ici Paris XL (start november)!

They adapted their polishes to the greater (european) public, by making the brush bigger  and easier to handle, and by setting the price at a comfortable 10,99 euro. Hooray for that, right!

On the event itself, I took the chance to have a little chat with Misses Essie herself, and let me tell you: She is one feisty lady! She followed her great passion, and it shows! How hard working pays off….

A few mocktails, cupcakes and happy laughs later, I found myself leaving the event with a smile on my face and a range of new nailcolours in my bag.

This time I was the manicurist in a fashion story for LOVE Magazine! This with belgian topphotographer Willy Vandeperre, major stylist Olivier Rizzo, make-uplegend Peter Philips and hairwonder Anthony Turner.

I want to thank Mindbox (who did the production) for contacting me for this big shoot! When they called me and said I could collaborate with THE master himself, Peter Philips, I was dancing like crazy!

On the set Peter gave me the new colours of Chanel-nailpolish to use, and afterwards he was so nice to send them to me! What a sweety!

Insiders story: After lunch, I was chatting with Anthony Turner and a model inside the van. Suddenly I saw the team slicing two big cakes. And I was like “Eyyy, is it someones’ birthday today??? There is dessert outside!!!”. Peter overheared me, and he reacted with “Yes, it was mine yesterday! What for? Do they have a surprise for me??”. I got sooo red in my face because I totally spoiled the birthday surprise for mister Philips….

Luckely Peter enjoyed my embarrassment and he mocked with me during the rest of the day . Well yeah, me and my big mouth…

Now, the story I collaborated on, inside Vogue UK, is like completely the opposite of the cover. I tricked you there!

For the real fashionstory, the whole Vogue-team camped in Antwerp for a couple of days! Antwerp! My hometown!

The serie, shot by charming Mario Testino, gives you a tour around Antwerp and its old nunnery-history. But like totally pimped! You have to agree with me that the styling, by Lucinda Chambers, is overdelicious! I was totally wowed by the whole ‘travelling-fashion-closet’! Also the make-up (by adorable and sweet Linda Cantello) en the hairstyling (by funny mister Marc Lopez) were such an inspiration to me.

As you can see, we worked with topmodels Arizona Muse and Freja Beha Erichsen! They are so so beautiful! Freja with her own rock-style…and Arizona with her angelic aura… Two girls who deserve the best in love, life and career!

I also wanna thank Ingrid Deuss, with all my heart. This leading lady did the whole production, and it must be said: She did it with personality, flawlessness and a smile on her face! Top of the bill!

Now, all cool and nice, but without taking proper care of your processed hair, you will not have the effect you want!

Many brands offer special (summer) oils to pamper your hair with, but personally I’m always afraid that they will make my hair sticky and greasy.

So last monday I arrived, with some reservations, at the press presentation of the newest hair oil from L’ Oréal: MYTHIC OIL.

They proved me wrong from the first moment!

After a short explanation of the product, and a mindblowing back-, neck- and headmassage from the therapists of beauty house ‘Zeïn’ (ask for Amat, he does WONDERS ), we got a full hairtreatement with the newest products from L’Oréal. And ofcourse with their MYTHIC OIL. First they applied one ‘pump’of the oil on freshly washed hair (not on the roots!!). And then another drop to finish the blow-dried hairdo. Because MYTHIC OIL is a dry oil, it doesn’t give a greasy result, nor a heavy shine. Just healthy looking, vava-voom hair!

The exhibition shows VIVA’s topgirls, without any make-up, styling or photoshop… Just an intimate moment with the photographer…

My view on these pictures? I love the idea and the message that VIVA wants to send out, and I admire the core beauty of some of the models. But they all look so sad and unhappy. As if there is no laughter in being all natural… And that is not really the statement you want to make, right?

So it’s about time we start to make our bodies ready for exposure

Let us concentrate on the main part of our female body: Tha boobs!

First of all I have to say: The bigger bosom is back! When some time ago, having bigger breasts as a model,was a real burden (impossible to squeeze yourself into that size 0), nowadays we see more and more modeling girls who aren’t afraid to show you their lusciousness!

Now, how can we make our cleavage summer-ready –> five tips:

1. Scrub your chest once a week, in a gentle way. Be careful that you’re not too agressive, and that your exfoliating cream doesn’t have too big of a grain in it.

2. While showering, hold the showerhead really close to your breasts (nowhere else ), and change the water from hot to cold to hot to cold….. Instant boost!!!

3. Apply a moisturizing cream or oil every day, especially when your bosom is still in a state of development! You don’t want no extra stretch marks!

Massage in that cream with circular movements. Personally, I like to use baby-products, because they are so so soft .

4. VERY IMPORTANT –> WEAR A GOOD BRA!!! Really girls! Get yourself informed in a decent lingerieshop for the right size/shape of bra! I know that finding that perfect (and sexy) lingerie isn’t always easy when you have bigger boobs. But it ain’t a mission impossible. And I know what I’m talking about . Brands I like are Marie Jo, Prima Donna, and Empreinte.

5. Last but not least: Accept your boobs! Flaunt your curves! As petite or big they might be, be proud of them! Straighten your shoulders and take care of yourself!

On this parfum-chapter i’m very very picky, though. It’s such an intimate and personal matter! I find it really difficult to stand close to people with the wrong parfum. Headache!!

I can’t even watch a movie, if the leading lady has terrible eyebrows.

Yep, it’s that bad!

And don’t get me wrong, eyebrows don’t have to be perfectly depilated at all times. I prefer a natural, almost-non-plucked version to an eyebrow which only looks like a thin line.

I just would like to make everyone clear that eyebrows change your whole face, they set your expression! It is not to take lightly!

Amen to that!

So here are a couple of eyebrow do’s&don’ts:

DO:

- Take a good look at your own face. It’s important to know your face, and to know the natural implantation of your eyebrow.

- Bring your eyebrow in shape with a eyebrowbrush, or even a toothbrush!

- Buy a really good pair of tweezers (for exemple  from ‘Tweezerman’), preferably with a diagonal point. You can find these in a pharmacy or beautyshop.

- If this is the first time you want to pluck your eyebrows, it is better to go to a beautyspecialist. Make sure it is someone with a lot of experience!

- If you want to do it yourself, you’d better start easy.  Pluck a few hairs and take a good look again. Continue this untill you have your perfect shape.

- Put some calming cream on the skin afterwords. My favourite is ‘Skin Recovery Cream’ from Avène.  And wait a couple of hours before you put on make up. You never know how your skin is gonna react.

DON’T:

- Don’t let a friend pluck your eyebrows. It starts with having fun and laughing around. But it usually ends in a distaster, eyebrow-wise.

- Don’t pluck too much between the eyebrows. This really determines your expression. If you take too much away, you’ll end up with a permanent sad expression. Not cool!

-Don’t try to recreate your eyebrowshape by plucking the tiny hairs above your eyebrow. It will make you look totally unnatural and it usually creates holes.

- and please please PLEASE don’t depilate too much! Really!

The secret is all in this top-selling formula. This waterproof, ultra-light, water-based gel contains no emulsifiers and provides a totally natural, satin finish. Ideal for normal skin-types as well as for fine lines and large pores. Gives skin a uniform tone without accentuating imperfections. A makeup artist’s favorite.

My Skin Type:
Actually very oily, but surpressed with BHA exfoliator. Results in generally ranging from very dry to normal/combo skin. Generally dehydrated, very sensitive, and acne prone.

My Skin Tone:
Some said I have very fair, Casper-ish complexion. Frankly speaking, that’s what you see in my FOTDs, but I personally think I look (much) darker in person than in those photos. Still, yes, I’m quite fair.

Bottomline: my skintone range is lighter than MAC NC/NW15 to NC/NW20.

I have neutral cool undertone.

Packaging:
See through glass bottle with black plastic cap. The opening of the bottle is wide, so some may have trouble dispensing right amount. The glass bottle may not be suitable for travel.

Color Selection:
Like most MUFE products, color selection is huge. When I bought this years ago, #20 is the lightest color, but now they’ve introduced even paler selections: #36 and #38.

When I finish my #20 bottle, I think I’ll upgrade to #36 or #38 if necessary.

Texture:
Fun gel-liquid type.

Coverage:
Sheer, but seriously, you can build it up to Medium coverage.

Blendability:
Good! The gel-liquid texture is very easily blended.

Application:
Application tool is very important with this foundation. I don’t know why but different tool can bring huge difference in the end result.

My favorite tool for this foundation is my Lancome Foundation Brush. It works fine with fingers and sponge, but with a traditional foundation brush, I can really built the coverage and refine my pores.

Finish:
Semi-matte.

Oil Control:
I’d say so-so. When I have oilier t-zone, I have to wear lighter moisturizer underneath.

My General Review:
My first ever high end foundation. I bought this wayy back, in my college years And up until now, amidst all other foundations I’m trying, I still come back to it! So that says something

I bought this since I was tired of drugstores and mid-level foundations not giving me the finish I wanted. I told you that I used to have terrible acne in my young days, so I’m kinda obsessed with flawless skin; even until now At first this stuff is not at all amazing. I tried applying it with fingers and sponge. The result was good, but nothing too good. But wait! I sometimes get compliments like “you look rested”. Or “your skin looks even better today!”. Now that says something for my dull face.

Then I experiment with Lancome Foundation Brush, for a family dinner. Oh. My. Goodness. The result is impeccable. The more I blend, the higher the coverage is. And because the color is neutral, the I didn’t look jaundiced even with the medium+ coverage. Plus, my pores literally erased. My face looked airbrushed. No joke, I think the skin is magazine worthy, without all the Photoshop retouch. The finish is so good I dare not to powder it. It’s best on its own. It’s the first time I go out without setting my face with a dusting of powder.

Subsequent experiments found that I can’t achieve same result everytime. But if my skin is well-rested, not stressed out, well moisturized, and the foundation is applied with a Foundation Brush, I can re-create the flawless look once again. And by flawless, I mean flawless. Not just covering, it’s also refining. It gives the illusion of perfect, healthy skin. The best a foundation has ever give me. I don’t know why night only though. Maybe my skin is more relaxed, maybe the temperature has gone down so my skin doesn’t have to battle with UV rays? Probably. Strange but true!

On mornings, when I apply my makeup in a rush, plus the sunscreens I use may interfere with makeup, I can’t get the best result with this stuff. But still, I can adjust the coverage from sheer to light, it doesn’t oxidize, and it refines the texture of my skin. Everytime I use it to work, I never feel it’s very good, but again….sometimes compliments come when I use this foundation. Guess it works after all!

Regarding the skin type, I think this stuff is true to its claim. It’s most appropriate to Normal skin. By experience, Combinational skin; slightly oily, slightly dry skin, can tolerate this product also. There are also some success stories from oilier skin, yet dehydrated in the surface. Not for super oily skin, or excessively dry skin though. I can look like prunes when I have very dry skin and force my skin to take it.

One last thing, this stuff claims to be waterproof. It doesn’t slide if I perspire and all, but it’s easily removed with a good cleansing milk or cleansing oil It’s quite hassle free.

What Else You Need To Know:
Tip from Dany Sanz, the founder of MUFE: “This foundation is also formulated for the body. Apply a fine layer, let dry three minutes, then blot the excess with a tissue before getting dressed.”

BTW, on my day face, MUFE F&B gives very similar finish to the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15. Both have broad color selection, but Bobbi gives you SPF. So it has slight edge for day activities, given that it reinforces my sunscreen underneath. And Bobbi is fragrance-free.

So from the comparison above, maybe it’s best for me if I save MUFE F&B for night, and use BB Skin Foundation for day? But yeah, MUFE F&B is much more cost effective.

Price:
I don’t remember the exact price. It’s around IDR300,000 though. Sephora retails this at USD32.

For 50ml of high end foundation, that’s not exactly absurdly expensive.

Easily accessible in department stores that carry MUFE line, like SOGO or Debenhams. MUFE also has exclusive boutiques at Plaza Indonesia and Dharmawangsa.

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5. This product is old, but it has the potential. I always have it in my arsenal.
