I have also been doing a lot of working.  I recently became a Thirty-One consultant.  This is something I am really excited about getting involved in.  I have always wanted to own my own business, and technically, I own my little piece of Thirty-One.  And I’ve always been good with sales.  I get that from my dad, the man can sell ice to an Eskimo!

I am very excited to start this new little chapter in my life, so I have been spending a lot of time studying the products and working on learning all the ‘know how’s’ of the business.  I am preparing myself (and my house) for my Kick-Off party next weekend.  I am eager yet nervous all at once but hopefully it all goes smoothly.

What else have I been up to…?

I recently cut my hair!  11 whole inches!  I sent it to Locks of Love to be donated to make wigs for children suffering from medical illnesses that cause hair loss.

I did some research on Locks of Love, because this is the first time I’ve ever donated to them.  A big misconception that people have colored their hair cannot donate, which is not true.  That would stop most of us women who color our hair or get highlights and lowlights out of the donation list.  But hair that has been bleached (highlights or died bleach blonde) cannot be used.  It does state in guidelines that if it was bleached a year or two ago and is now grown out, it will be an acceptable donation.  Go to http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html to see more guidelines for acceptable donations.

I am so happy I donated and I am planning on growing my hair out again now to be able to donate next year to this great cause.  Please let me know in the comments if you’ve donated before or after seeing the guidelines, if you plan to donate in the future.

I am sorry I have been M.I.A. and I have most of my schedule worked out that I will be able to juggle my blog and my Thirty-One sales.  So I promise to no longer neglect my blog and try to update every day.

So like I’ve already said we were going to Auto Zone this morning. The starter went on the BMW on Christmas Eve so James is fixing that today and luckily was able to take some time off work to do it. If only every job had paid time off, but I guess that’s what you get when you stay in school for 5 years, anywho, so what better motivation to drag my ass out of bed this morning than “Hun auto-zone is by Starbucks, we can stop there first” That did it, I was up and presentable in about 5 minutes. Now  for a little background on our Starbucks trips, as I’m sure you know it’s a fairly expensive habit unless you’re drinking just coffee but I like the seasonal drinks and Starbucks is a treat so today I was totally feeling a Creme Brule Latte Venti of course. To save money James and I usually just split a Venti but we often run into the problem of him drinking it all as I like to savor it and enjoy it. So this morning while waiting in line I told him to get his own, but he didn’t want to so I said “if you drink it all i’ll kill you in you’re sleep” he laughed and the barista thought it was hilarious so when we got our drink there was this nice little note on it.

I can’t think of a time when I was disappointed by the customer service at Starbucks, they are always so friendly. When I worked at American Eagle I used to go there almost twice a day and first thing in the morning I could stumble in there half awake (how i drove to work is beyond me) and mumble incoherently and without a doubt the barista would make me something amazing. So the long and short of it I guess is that i’m one of those people that will pay the extra money for the perfectly brewed espresso and friendly staff. Now if only they delivered =)

The patchwork cup, like others from this collection, is inspired by textiles and encompasses the natural bend and fold, nip and tuck of woven cloth. Clare transforms these characteristics into individual moulds and cleverly re-creates the features of fabric in porcelain. Each cup is then individually finished with ‘stitches’ which Clare adds by hand.

I was somewhat bemused by my sample piece from the cup collection at first. It is a splendidly uneven and quirky over-sized cup that stands approx 4” (10cm) tall and has a drinking circumference of 14” (approx 36cm). Alice in Wonderland’s crazy tea party immediately came to mind as I thought it not to follow the conventions of a straightforward teacup.

The cups are chunky, solid, and stable – white in colour are glazed internally but have that matt like texture of porcelain on the outside. This type of material has a tendency to stain, however the cups are totally dishwasher safe.

These cups will appeal to kind of people who likes design that is ‘off the wall’ and completely individualistic and who ardently seeks such things. It would be unforgiving if someone were to be unappreciative of all that which the inventive Clare has achieved – because these ceramics are proper keepsake pieces. And although it took further research and reflection for me to fully appreciate the product – I now totally get Clare’s concept!

The cups are packaged in a plain purple gift box and packed in brightly coloured paper straw for protection. Selling at £30 each – this is a balanced and fair price.
