The 80/20 Principle (in simple terms) states that 80 percent of what you and I experience in our liv

The 80/20 Principle (in simple terms) states that 80 percent of what you and I experience in our lives are directly related to the activities we carry out 20 percent of the time. The 80/20 rule is a proven fact (by the way).

Let’s go deeper…

Where did it come from?

The 80/20 was suggested by a dude named Joseph M. Juran and it was named after an Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto. He noticed that 80% of income in Italy was received by 20% of the Italian population.

How does this impact you and I ?

Good Question. Well, we can see this principle in action all over the place (if we look closely). From our passions to our relationships to our business endeavors… the 80/20 rule is ubiquitous.

In our relationships, 20 percent of what’s carried out by your significant other will be 80 percent of what we remember. On the flip side, 20 percent of what we do that our partners dislike will cause 80 percent of our disagreements and heated debates. Moreover, 20 percent of what we lack will cause an unfaithful mate to cheat. The cheating mate is actually leaving the 80% (the wife or …husband) in search of the 20% (the fling).

When it comes to your passion, your workplace, your business, and so on… 20 percent of what you do daily will determine 80 percent of your reflection, lifestyle, and circumstances. 20 percent of your time is usually spent on quality work or on steps that need to be taken in order to make all the difference.

20 percent of the time we spend working on becoming multi-thousandnaires, millionaires, and billionaires (usually the time before or after work) creates the magic that dreams are made from. 20 percent of the time spent building your business is what allows your business to grow. 20 percent of your time spent at work contributes to 80 percent of your results (leading to a promotion, raise, and so on).

To maximize on the 80/20 rule, we should focus what works for us (our passions or what we’re good at doing). Taking actions that count and filling the unforgiving moment, destroys procrastination and delivers our objectives at a faster pace.

Countless wearers of Google Glass stalked the halls of this year’s Google I/O developer confer

Countless wearers of Google Glass stalked the halls of this year’s Google I/O developer conference, but only a lucky few were sporting the prescription model, which makes room for lenses in a more conventional glasses frame. Among those lucky early adopters with imperfect vision was Thad Starner, a Georgia Tech professor who, in 2010, was recruited to join a top-secret project at Google’s fabled X Lab. That project, as it turned out, was Glass, and Starner’s role on the team as a technical lead would be a vital one.

Starner invented the term “augmented reality” in 1990 and, after experimenting with wearable technologies for 20 years now, offered us a rare perspective on where the stuff has been and where it’s headed. So, then, we were very glad to get a few moments to chat with the man at I/O and get his insight into how we got to be where we are and, indeed, get some suggestions from him on where we’re going from here.

Ran across a neat kitchen tip and decided to give it a try. Over at Mzuka’s Kitchen Tips & Recipes on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mzukas-Kitchen-Tips-Recipes/331527696870533) there’s a post for boiling eggs in salt water.

Seriously! Seeing how I hadn’t eaten yet I thought what a perfect time to try it out. I did eight eggs and wasn’t too sure how much salt to use, I guessed and did four healthy pinches.

Eggs in salt water

I let them boil for about 10–13 minutes, doing up some dishes helped the time pass quickly! Once the time was up, drained the pan and ran cold water over them for a minute giving a little stir to help release some more of the heat. The results after peeling weren’t too bad actually…

Three out of eight boo-boo eggs

Yes, three out of eight of the eggs came out a bit messed up. My Mom came in around time these were boiling and she shared with me that both she always puts salt in the water as did my Memaw (her mother). That’s the first time I’d ever heard that! I don’t always have a problem when it comes to peeling eggs, the occasional egg from the pot that decides to be different never bothers me since most of the time I’m making egg salad. For deviled eggs this would definitely not be good. But no worries, I had a plan already in mind for these babies!

Quick Egg Salad

8 eggs, boiled, peeled, rinsed

1 cup mayo, less if you prefer

salt and pepper to taste

relish of your liking, optional (I used my Mom’s homemade zucchini relish!)

Boil, peel, and rinse the eggs. In a medium bowl chop the eggs with a pastry blender. Stir in mayo, salt, pepper, and relish(if using). Serve on bread, salad, or just grab a spoon and dig in!

I had a lurker at one point…

Felt like I was in a scene of Jaws!

The finished product!

My lurker turned photographer! Great picture too!

Egg salad with zucchini relish on top.

Because certain family members don’t care for relish in the egg salad I just add it on top. Hope you have a wonderful Friday and a safe weekend!

I learned something from having this contest – contests don’t always work as a way of promoting your book – not in sales anyway. I got myself out there though and learned that the hard part of self publishing is not only writing the book. There is a vast amount of time spent in the editing, publishing, and promoting…promoting…promoting! It is sometimes an uphill battle that never stops. One day I will hit it just right and - BAMM! everything will fall into place. I have lots of faith.

The sequel to Crossing The Line – What Line – which is what this contest was all about - is in the works and hopefully I will be through writing it in a few months. Then the process will start all over again.

Enjoy the special pricing of Crossing The Line at $.99 for a few days on e-book and if you already have it share this with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social media you prefer! Thanks again for following.

Would you like to have a Step-By-Step BLUEPRINT to create a VIRAL Facebook Fanpage from scratch and discover how to turn it into a push-button cash machine?

What are viral facebook fanpages and why should you create them?

Don’t know what facebook fanpages are?

Facebook, a social networking site with over 500 million users, has set up a system where you can add a page to their site. This page could be a site for your business, for you as a person, for a charity or cause or anything else you would like.

For us internet marketers, we use it to target a niche or product group that we can market to.

By having a fanpage like this, you can invite people to “like” or join your fanpage. These people can then invite all their facebook friends to also join your facebook fanpage. This means that the more people that like your page, the more people would see that their friends “liked” your page. This can cause your page to go viral, meaning it will keep on getting massive amounts of fans without you having to invite anyone.

So what do you do after you have a fanpage with thousands of fans?

You monotize it, meaning you create a way that you can profit from it. This is so easy, because you can post an update on the fanpage, which your fans will see on their facebook news feed. This means that every time you make an update, thousands of people would see your update or advertisement and potentially hundreds of them could click on them, of which many will buy your product or complete your offer, which in turn would make you money.

And this is where the beauty of facebook fanpages lie. If you can create a huge fanpage with lots of fans, the sky is the limit on how many ways you can profit with this fanpage.

With my Facebook Fanpage Blueprint, I show you step-by-step how you can create a viral fanpage from scratch, with secrets to get hordes of ready-to-buy fans and how to monotize it for huge profits.

The events that took place in Woolwich this week predictably led to a backlash of emotion on all social networks. Reaction dominated Twitter trends, and Facebook was awash with opinions from people with all points of view. Once again, the consequences of extremism were pushed to the forefront of all our minds, and the calls for something to be done rang louder than ever. Islam has unfortunately found itself once again in the firing line from the rightfully angry; but in my opinion, largely misinformed and misguided members of the population.

The huge wave of those asking for an ‘eye for an eye’ seem oblivious to the clear parallels between their demands, and the actions of the men who carried out the brutal attack on Wednesday. The leaked video of one of the attackers clearly stating the motives behind the attack should not be taken lightly. This attack was to make a point, and if anything can be learnt from it, it is that there was some validity in what was said. The attackers carried out what they believed to be a vengeful act, in return for the huge numbers of civilian deaths caused by foreign intervention in Islamic countries. The death toll of innocent civilians in places like Iraq and Afghanistan is too easily forgotten, but it is prevalent, and documentaries such as Rethink Afghanistan highlight exactly how bad the problem is. Of course, killing is wrong. But the killing of innocent people in any country is just as wrong as it is here. Those asking for revenge are only mirroring the feelings of the two attackers, aimed at those who are perceived as the enemy, rightly or wrongly.

What struck me most about the numerous debates between those with differing views was the immediate decision to put people into groups. Some people labelled all Muslims extremists. Some people then labelled those people racist. Once again, a case of two wrongs not making a right. To tar everybody with the same brush is to completely disregard what they have to say, and in my opinion, this only leads to heightened anger and heightened tension. With fringe groups like the EDL, and extremism of all kinds growing, perhaps it is time to start listening instead of labelling.

Woohoo! There’s two reasons for this woohoo – we don’t give them out lightly. Firs

Woohoo!

There’s two reasons for this woohoo – we don’t give them out lightly. Firstly, this is the start of a brand new series – a ‘How To’ series. They won’t be coming on any sort of schedule so you’ll just have to keep your eyes open.

Secondly, it’s exam season again, and we all know what that means – procrastination. Which is what you’re doing right now. Don’t lie, even if you’re not revising, you’re avoiding doing something right now aren’t you … (I won’t lie either, I just procrastinated writing this by going over the last season of 90210 on Wikipedia)

But to make it worthwhile to your future, here’s a little guide of good advice for all you revising … people.

Source: http://canoland.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/run-7272011.html

1) Go for a run

According to the internet, going for a run in the morning will awaken you brain and make it easier to remember things. According to me, it’ll make you so f*cking tired that you’ll have no choice but to stay sitting on that desk chair.

2) Eat food that’s tasteless

When you’re revising, your body will try anything to get away from the mind-numbing boredom by distracting you with your stomach. So you just need something to chew absentmindedly while <del>watching the cat from next door try to catch a bird</del> you revise. I’d say crackers because 1) they’re so dull you’ll give up on eating anyway and 2) they’re practically cardboard, so you’re not going to come out of study leave looking like Chris Moyles (pre-weight loss obviously)

3) Always have a book open

That way, every time your mum comes in to check you’re working, you can chuck your laptop under your bed and stare intently at it. Just make sure you change the page every time she leaves.

Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/no%20parents%20allowed

4) Keep away from the parents as much as possible

Teenagers and stress don’t really make a good mix , so keep a wide berth from the ‘rents and/or any other extremely annoying person in your life because they will make you angry and chances are, you’ll end up in tears.

5) Don’t be THAT guy

If you don’t know one of those guys then count yourself very lucky. Don’t be that guy that looks at people doing exams in the year below him and constantly tells him how they can’t possibly understand how hard life is for them and how their exam is a million times harder. No one likes that guy. Okay, if you’re in your final year of uni, GCSE kids look like the lamest thing ever, but this is the first time they’ve sat exams and their still at the stage where they care so don’t be mean.

Source: http://instagram.com/katie__bullock

6) Instagram the shit out of that textbook

Who doesn’t love a good lying-across-some-books-with-a-sepia-tint photo? I do.

7) Don’t lose your books – but if you do, just steal stuff

I know this from experience. It was around this time last year that I realised that I had lost all of my history books from a two year course. I then stole a textbook and preceded to revise the wrong subject (there’s another tip, always know what your exam is actually about). So keep track of your books and if you do, remember to thoroughly check the drawer where you keep them all. That’s where I found two of them four months later. There’s still two missing though …

8) Don’t paint your nails, then re-paint them, then take off the nail varnish because it wasn’t that good anyway

Don’t lie. You know you’ve done it at least once. Unless you’re a guy. In which case … don’t lie.

Source: https://twitter.com/twitter

9) Get off all social media sites

Don’t even bother looking at them because no one will have messaged you – all your friends are probably also pretending to revise. And now is not the time to look through every single photo on that guy you like’s Facebook page. Especially because by the end, he’ll start looking extremely young and not very attractive at all, so it’s a lose-lose situation.

10) Stop reading this

Get off Bloglovin’ and open a book. Read at least one page before you start to find other things to distract your time with. And who knows, you might even achieve something in your life. If not, there’s always McDonalds.

Pierre posted to her Facebook page following the results:

The results are in. The administration screwed me big time…. They claimed I only have 56 votes – YOU CAN BELIEVE THEM IF YOU WANT – I know they are corrupted and some members of the current ADMINISTRATION were ready to do anything to have their protege elected to (perhaps) prevent their butt from going to jail in the near future. BUT I NEVER EXPECTED THEM TO GO THIS FAR. To this, I’ ll make a correction – since I voted for myself also – I will say that I AM GIVEN ONLY 55 VOTES FROM ALL THE BALLOTS THAT WERE CAST FOR ME. Well, I am strong & I can take it. REMEMBER THAT I AM NOT ALONE. I AM A TRUE CHRISTIAN WOMAN. NOT ONLY I AM COVERED UNDER THE BLOOD OF JESUS…I AM SWIMMING IN IT. MY JESUS HAS CONTROL OVER MY LIFE & THE TITLE OF MAYOR DOESN’T DEFINE WHO I AM AS A PERSON. NORTH MIAMI CHOSE “LUCIEFER” OVER JESUS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TRUST & SUPPORT, YOUR FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY- YOUR PRAYERS ! I HAVE LOST A HARD FOUGHT BATTLE BUT NOT A WAR.

Pierre lost the election to openly gay mayoral candidate Kevin Burns. Burns will face Lucie Tondreau in the final June 4th election.

In her Facebook post, Pierre went on to congratulate Tondreau and included a passage from the Bible.

Not having my facebook active is a strange feeling. I am addicted to posting my random thoughts, the only place I can put them. And some of my random thoughts are pretty awesome.

People love my random thoughts.

But that seems to be the only thing facebook is good for me. When I think of my random thoughts and how funny they will be, I remind myself that is all people want to see, they only like me when I am amusing. But if it is real, if it is painful, I get nothing, or worse than nothing. Other people, when they have hard times, get LOTS of support, from people dropping everything to be there for them, even financial help, and loads of good wishes, prayers and all sorts of stuff. Me, I get told that oh sorry, nothing I can do, not even just check if you are ok, or I get ignored because I am just too much to take when I am sad, stressed, scared.

And if they can’t handle me at my worst, they don’t deserve my best.

There can be something freeing from disconnecting from the glowing screen.

But it doesn’t make me feel any better. What I did, was cut myself completely from human contact, if you call facebook that in any way.

Well, I guess I didn’t really cut myself off. Everyone cut me off. Because they thought the only way they needed to see me, hear me, talk to me, was on facebook. Now that I haven’t been there for 4 days, only one person has noticed that I am no longer there, she pointed it out to hubby. He has cut back on FB time, so he hadn’t noticed, until she said something, and then realized he wasn’t “married” to anyone anymore. She is busy with school, she told him she would text me later. That is the only person that has said a damn thing, the only person that misses me a little.

If anyone else noticed, do I wonder what they are thinking? That I am sulking. Or don’t notice that I am completely gone, and just think I unfriended them. But do any of them ask? My phone has been completely silent. If I am not on FB, I no longer exist.

I am not missed.

I am a ghost.

The only one haunted is me.

I grew up with performance based grace. I was separated from my father at ten years old. I have lived my entire life trying to please him. I grew up under his watchful eye as he scrutinized my every move. I was never quite good enough in the things I did. I have started to look at my relationship with my sons and I wonder sometimes if they can feel my insecurities. I know my mood shifts and my temper can get the best of me. I wonder if what I am saying to them is a mirror image of what I learned as a child. I learned that it was easier to stay in the shadows. It was easier to avoid confrontations. I would end up with hurt feelings and a self-image that I would suffer with my entire life.

My relationship with my husband has started down the same path. I feel like a timid child when confronted with a problem. My intimate, loving response to his touch has grown cold. I feel the quick, angry, disposition from him the way I felt when my father was disciplining me. I do not look to him for his leadership role in the house as I should. Our marriage has become out of sync with what God had planned. We both suffer everyday trying to grasp hold to the root of foundation he laid out for our marriage. My resistance is causing rejection in everyone around me. My husband feels rejected because I cannot find grace in my life.

I have struggled to maintain a productive life. I measured my worth by my abilities. I was successful at my job but, in every relationship getting below the surface became very painful and scary. Now, being unable to work and produce predictable income has torn open my flesh and exposed me to various levels of pain. It has also peeled open a joyous thirst for God. I can sing praises and give thanks even though I cannot see around the corner.

I am thankful that my marriage has been bonded by God. Even though I stubbornly, and selfishly follow God, I know that my rebellion will be met with Grace. The real value of a person is inside not on the outside. Our performance in life is not what is appealing to God. It is our heart…..Thank goodness my husband has a HUGE one!

It is an exciting time of year at Twist as many of our High Performance athletes who were away at school or playing their sport away from home return from colleges, pro teams etc. This morning as I went through and greeted our Pro Hockey training group, one of the athletes said, “I’d like to have your job. Sitting up at your desk on the computer all day.” I quickly replied, “are you kidding me, I’d rather be down here coaching or training myself.” As much as I enjoy all the aspects of running the business side of Twist Whitby and sharpening my social media skills, sitting at my desk is the last thing I want to be doing. This is the evolution in life and in business I have chosen for myself to grow and evolve our business and, I believe more importantly to grown and evolve our Twist Whitby team to spread their wings and do the things that make them great. Don’t get me wrong I love the business side of the equation and I truly enjoy my weekly messages to all of you and expanding all things @TwistWhitby on Facebook and Twitter, but the passion for coaching, teaching and training never goes away.

Some people are born leaders, some are better workers and followers. I think it is critical to be able to do both. Sometimes you need to be the boss and sometimes you need to be part of the team. To identify and understand when it is time to lead and when it might be better to give others their chance to lead. Sometimes we learn valuable lessons about what to do by seeing and understanding what not to do. No better example of this exists that watching the “business” and team dynamics on the TV show The Office. I stumbled across a blog post this week that sums up exactly what I am talking about with the requisite amount of humour. “9 Management Lessons we’ve learned from Michael Scott” .

Learning from the mistakes of others is especially true within the fitness industry where a wide range of experience, knowledge and expertise permeates the world of fitness, personal training and coaching. We see people with weekend certifications and anyone who knows how to do a bicep curl calling themselves experts and a culture that is often more focused on how hard their workout is today than on where the workout is actually taking them down the road. Here is what you get when bad coaching happens to good people.

I pride myself not only on being a strong leader but on being a great judge of choosing people who want to learn, grow and evolve themselves within the Twist Whitby team and culture. With the exception of a few peripheral coaches leaving along the way, we have been fortunate in our 5 years here in Whitby to have kept a strong team intact, learned from each other, and grown and evolved the culture of Twist Whitby together along the way.

Recently, Coach Kevin Chapman has decided it is time for him to move on and explore some new opportunities in his career. Kevin has been an integral part of our coaching team over the past 3 years both as a Twist strength and conditioning coach and an on-ice coach. I would like to wish Kevin all the best as he moves on to a new stage in his life.

As for our team, we are extremely excited for what the summer will bring and we will continue to add strong coaches and quality people. I have had some great interviews over the past week and we have added one new coach to the team already. I plan to have 1 or 2 more for our summer high performance camp team this summer.

I would like to introduce you to Kyle Kotchie:
