Itching to accomplish your  fashion dreams?  Perhaps you should look to Swiss-born Yvan Rodic (now living in London,) a style photographer who’s fashion photographer who’s fashion photo blog Facehunter has grown to such popularity, its given the push to get a book deal, a new show on Web Tv and an iPhoto application.

Perhaps coolest of all? The 80-day around the world excursion Yvan Rodic is taking to continue his fashion photo blitz and see what styles are like across five continents.

The Facehunter has already hit fashion events in London, Paris, and Tokyo, but seems much more satisfied to take photos of the locals, who don’t even realize they’re setting trends and making old trends come to life.

As part of his new 80-day trip, Yvan will be hitting up South Africa, Australia, and Argentina.  He has already been seen in Thailand, Korea, and our own Israeli fashion capital, Tel Aviv, which he visited in the beginning of October.

Not sure Tel Aviv had much fashion to offer Yvan, at least that’s how he saw it.   He didn’t put many fashion photos up, and chose to focus on the “easy outfits”, people wearing basics like striped shorts and lace, a stark contrast to the haute couture flounce and bright neon of cities like Bangkok and Paris.  It didn’t seem he was so inspired by it as he put up very few pictures of the people.

Of course it wasn’t all hard work.  Yvan hung with  Oh So Arty blogger Sarah Peguine, Way Too Yellow fashion blogger Sefi Erlich, Yael Eligoulachvili, I Have a Rendezvous with You blogger Rufina Valery Valsky and they took him to the beach (some of his fashion photo inspiration photos took place there) and to a few choice Israeli clubs.

Later in an video Q&A with the team (Sarah, Rufina, Yael) at Arterview, a video blog of interviews conducted with leading and emerging figures of the art, fashion and music industry in Israel and abroad, Yvan called Israeli style  ”very basic” and says he was not surprised by what he’s seen.

“There’s not such refinement if I compare it with other places,” he continues.

That may be true, but then what to make of the round of talented Israeli style bloggers cropping up on the blogsophere  include Fashion Pea, I Heart Fashion, and Shelly’s Private Collection, Sense of Fashion, an international shop and share indie and vintage start-up site by former Time Out Tel Aviv and Haaretz editor Daria Shualy, winning street fashion sites like ILook and The Streetswalker, stores like Cafe Bizarre and Frau Blau and fabulous designers  including Mirit Weinstock, The Hellers, and Inbal Gvili.

Well, perhaps Yvan didn’t see any of that.  I do personally think that Israel and Tel Aviv has an untapped fashion potential that’s waiting to explode.  One thing’s for sure, people are not afraid to take risks and stand out from the crowd her.

For now, Yvan can continue to think that Tel Aviv is ” easy/sexy”  and “Not so forward, not so conceptual.” But let’s hope his next trip to Israel finds it a completely changed place, like the land itself.

Now talking about Facehunter is certainly nothing new, but I do love his photos and came across some I had saved when researching on the net. Here’s a few of my faves from recent times…..

Someone once told me that food is fashion. At first this confused me, after all, the average model probably eats 250 calories a day. However, once I opened my eyes I began to realize that there really is a connection between my two biggest indulgences. Some of my favorite bloggers write about both fashion and food (i.e. cupcakes and cashmere), designers are constantly inspired by delicious gourmet cuisines, and the amount of time that goes into creating both fashion and food is really quite similar.

In order for food and fashion to succeed, they have to be presented well and they have to make a person feel good. No one wants a plate of grilled halibut and roasted veggies to look like it was mindlessly thrown on the plate, nor do they want a sweater that is poorly constructed and falling apart at the seams (well, unless it was meant to be that way…). e olha que o sapato foi o que eu menos gostei!

twice a year, i take off my sane, rational, self-controlled human hat and indulge in the full fabulous extravagance of fashion month.

this year was especially fun for me since i spent it in new york and got to catch a glimpse of some of the sartorial festivities for myself. although i sadly didn’t have any anna or carine sightings, there was nonetheless plenty of  gawking, mocking, pointing and swooning to be done.

on the street, yasmin: chic? classic? stunning? speechless.

from catwalks to sidewalks and celebrities to wannabes, fashion was on display in all its glamorously manifold forms this month. the people that i found the most inspiring weren’t necessarily those with the priciest clothes — although those $8,000 balmain super-shoulder jackets are drool-inducing — but rather people with a certain attitude. whether expressed as a non-chalant gaze (or was that a disdainful sneer?), a cheeky tweet (who knew peaches geldof was such a good twat?) or some flat-out divine leather thigh-highs (i’m looking at you geraldine saglio), fashion this month was all about la joie d’habille.

ever since the beginning of time halloween has been an excuse for ladiezzzz to dress as slutty versions of their favorite cartoon/movie/storybook/etc. characters.  instead of looking like a complete ho-bag (if you’s an h.o.e. get a j.o.b.), i’ve always thought it was an occasion to look more like a drag queen (obviously.)  this year papi decided he wanted to be dorothy gale of the beloved wizard of oz and oh, look, it just so happens to be the 70th anniversary of the movie!  FANCY THAT.

needless to say it took me about 5 seconds to call dibs on the tin man but bean was reluctant to commit to the scarecrow.  please explain how a single ladies costume is more exciting than this:

i kid i kid i kid. (god, i am so funny.)

but seriously, here are some reasons why the wizard of oz is the way to go (and if i see any of you biotches steal my ideas, i’ve got a .45 and a shovel. i doubt anyone would miss you.)

Fotos do povo bonito durante a semana de moda de NY:

1. Adorei essa pose em movimento, os super óculos, a sandália YSL (que já mostrei aqui) e essa capa xadrez. Amei tudo.

2. Gente olha essa bota que diferente. O vestido tem recortes, volumes e até um laço, mas é preto e básico. A bolsa marrom quebra o preto, mas combina bem com o look. E as unhas são azul claro. Charme!

3. Essa menina tá parecendo um ET com essa mãozinha hahahaha. Mas eu amei o look sequinho, coletinho de tachinhas da Zara (vi a Cherry Blossom Girl usando), olhos pretos puxados e o cabelo lambido.

4. Olha esse blazer azul que lindo! E o maxi-colar e a bolsa.

Gostei ainda mais desse look e dessa foto (é a mesma menina de antes). Acho que tem a ver com o sol brilhando nela (fiz a poética)

Essa é a Taylor Tomasi. Ela era editora de acessórios da Teen Vogue, e menos de um mês atrás foi para Marie Claire, onde vai ser editora de acessórios e estilo. Ela é figurinha marcada em blogs de moda/moda de rua e super admirada por seu estilo. Quem quiser saber mais tem até um tópico dedicado a ela no The Fashion Spot – forúm de moda que acho que já citei aqui antes.

Photography + Blogs + Biking + Amsterdam + Fashion = a perfect combination of things I like! I’m an avid reader of fashion blogs such as The Sartorialist, Facehunter and Copenhagen Street Style. It becomes even better when biking is involved, for example Copenhagen Cycle Chic. That’s why it was great to see Garance Dore photographed lots of Amsterdam women, many with bikes, during her stay at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week (later all exhibitioned in Foam Photography Museum). Two weeks ago The Sartorialist also posted a series of pictures of NYC women with bikes, comparing them to the Amsterdam women on Garance’s blog. He is wisely not going into which style he likes more and I’m pretty biased, so what do you think?
