One of the great things about traveling is that you are never really sure where it lead you. In 200

One of the great things about traveling is that you are never really sure where it lead you. In 2001, I won a competition at work and won my first of four trips with Jaguar Cars. This trip was to Liverpool, Stratford, and London, England. While in Stratford for only two days and much of that taken up by group outings, Stratford is still my 4th favorite vacation destination. It is almost hidden away in the center of the island country, a couple hours northwest of London. The town is very picturesque, yet ancient. The birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford is a quaint, small town. We arrived in Stratford after the shops had closed, but it was still light out, so we walked around the town and saw many really fascinating old buildings.
Not far away from Stratford is Warwick Castle, Jaguar had arranged for any of us who wanted to see the castle to get a free tour. We sacrificed our free time in Stratford for the excursion, but it was well worth it. The castle has been restored and “populated” by Madame Tussaud’s wax figures. Walking through the castle, each room contains figures portrayed in period costume “living” the life of the ancients. Some rooms were devoted to upcoming battle, while others were dedicated to a weekend festival. The wax figures were so lifelike, in one room I waited probably 10 minutes waiting for one to move. The eerie thing is, they have real people dressed in period costume in some rooms to tell you about the history, so you never know which are people and which are figures.
After the morning at the castle, we proceeded to Coventry, England, and Jaguar Cars World Headquarters where we were given the full factory tour. The Browns Lane facility was very cool, especially the wood room, where they made all of the veneers for the cars from scratch, and the upholstery room, with all the hides stacked up ready to be cut by hand and stitched into the car seats. We also happened to be next to the assembly line when lunch break for the workers came, so to see the whole place slow to a stop was pretty neat.
Even without the factory tour (that facility has since closed), Stratford, England is still one of my favorite destinations and I would return in a heartbeat.

As any handbag aficionado knows, it is practically impossible to get a discount on a Coach bag. Depa

As any handbag aficionado knows, it is practically impossible to get a discount on a Coach bag. Department stores usually do not include Coach in their across the board sales, and their coupons usually exclude Coach products. Coach remains true to its beginnings in 1962 as making top quality and impeccably fashionable pieces. The company does not skip any steps in the quality of their leather and their manufacturing and design process and always has kept to the classic quality and style they are known for.

One of the frequently counterfeit brands, genuine Coach bags are recognized easily by the fine quality of the hardware, leather, and stitching. I have seen a lot of fake Coach bags in my day and I can always tell the fake by the stitching. If the stitching is not completely straight and perfectly made, its fake. Another tip off is the hardware. Coach hardware is always perfectly formed with no funky seams, or cheap looking finish to the metal. Coach never sells via street vendors, back room shops, or purse parties, so if you think it’s a fake it probably is. Since Coach bags and accessories are not cheap, what’s a girl to do in order to get a real Coach at a discount price?

The answer is the Coach Factory Outlet Stores. This store is a fantastic place to get Coach items for about 30% off, sometimes markdowns can even be higher on discontinued styles. Since Coach does had branched out quite a bit from simply selling handbags, check out their newer lines selling everything from scarves to shoes, and all manner of accessories. Those with impeccable style always have a wallet that matches their handbag so make sure to check out the wallets available in coordinating styles to your purse.

For a list of Coach Factory Outlet Stores across the United States see this link – www.malls-info.com/outlet/coachoutletstores.html. There are currently over 75 of the Coach outlets. These stores sell first quality merchandise from Coach at reduced prices. I myself carry a Coach makeup case in my bag, which I purchased at a Coach outlet over 10 years ago. Of course these leather items last forever, and the fact that I bought it for about half off makes this one of my favorite purchases.

My favorite Coach bags are the classic styles in black leather. I have been carrying the same bag off and on for a number of years and it looks great. I bought it at the Coach store, left it wrapped up, and gave it to my husband and said “Here is my Christmas present from you.” Every once in a while I clean it with the Coach leather cleaning kit, and the leather is beautiful. My goal is to purchase of the beautiful patchwork “signature” bags so I am keeping my eye open for just the right bag that is calling my name. Guess where I will be shopping? Meet me at the Coach factory outlet store.

Coach leatherwear is one of the finest quality brands in the accessories market, with super stylish

Coach leatherwear is one of the finest quality brands in the accessories market, with super stylish handbags being the hallmark of their label. The first Coach bag was created in 1941 using skills and techniques that had been passed down through the generations. Now with their decades of timeless quality and cutting edge design, getting your hands on a Coach handbag can be a hefty investment of hundreds of dollars. But do not despair, a Coach factory outlet store could be the answer to your prayers, allowing you to buy one of America’s most popular handbags at a snippet of the price.

Why Buy Coach?

The essence of the brand is quality, durability, function and style, with a range of luxury accessories and gifts for men and women to suit all tastes and styles. All handbags are double stitched using top quality leather, in a multitude of styles and finished using traditional hand-finishing techniques.

Finding a Coach Handbag at a Great Price

Discounted Coach handbags do exist and a factory outlook store is the best place to look. Usually run by Coach themselves, these stores sell handbags and other Coach accessories at a cheaper price by stocking collections from previous seasons. Out of season handbags are sent from the top boutiques and stores in order to free up space for new collections. Outlet stores may even stock bags which are out of season and never even made it out of the factory, as Coach send out their clearance stock to their outlet stores.

Some clearance bags may also have been rejected by Coach due to a small blemish or misplaced zipper, but this really doesn’t detract from the quality of the bag and such a minor blemish would be unnoticeable to the naked eye.

Buying from a Coach factory outlet store guarantees you’re not being sold a replica or cheap fake. And if you shop during the pre-holiday sales, at Christmas and Thanksgiving, you can be guaranteed even more discount. But take this piece of advice – grab first before you decide whether to purchase – competition is fierce in these stores, especially at sales time!

Just because you’ll be buying a piece which is last season or even older, the beauty about Coach handbags is that they have such a classic style which will remain in fashion as long as you care for them. Not only that, if you bag a great bargain you’ll have enough money left to buy two or three more bags to suit every occasion and look! If you don’t have an outlet store near you, search online for clearance stock. Auction sites particularly feature clearance bags which can still be picked up at a bargain price.

Leading on from my previous post about Christmas, I started thinking about “present sense

Leading on from my previous post about Christmas, I started thinking about “present sense” and how I am going to try as hard as I can to avoid buying things that are “Made in China”. An impossible task, you may think, but it is possible. I am trying desperately not to contribute to the onslaught of cheap and tacky Chinese-made goods, and aim to buy things that are made in Europe. At least they have travelled less to get to the shop, and they may be slightly less environmentally harmful due to having been made to last longer and with better, safer materials. I have recently found lovely toys made in Denmark (hoorah for Lego), Germany and England, and the quality is also so much better. My small town in Spain is full of Chinese bazaars, little shops where everything costs virtually nothing but at the same time costs the earth… My son loves them but everything that has ever been bought for him in these shops (by a well-meaning neighbour) ends up breaking within a matter of hours or days.

A friend of mine from Australia, who is an ardent environmentalist and refuses to fly (she aims to leave a zero carbon footprint, admirable stuff; more on her another time), travelled across Asia by bicycle to get to Europe, and told me about the factory towns in China. She said it was like a vision of hell…

So, if you care just a little bit about the environment, take a look at the label and buy carefully. I’m not naive, I know it isn’t a cure for all environmental ills, no single action is, but each small step we all take may contribute to preserving our planet.

For the Cort and Cor-tek workers in Korea, life was a blur of sawing and grinding wood, painting, va

For the Cort and Cor-tek workers in Korea, life was a blur of sawing and grinding wood, painting, varnishing, fitting. With hardly any time to see their families, they left for work at the factories in Daejon and Incheon while it was still dark outside, and they came home after the sun had already gone down.

Some people ask: Well, if it was such hard work, and the conditions so terrible, why do the workers want to reopen the factory?

After making guitars for decades, this is their art and livelihood. It is what they have become skilled at, and to them, there is nothing like seeing the finished guitar, in the factory, slung on the backs of a musician in the street. They can say, “I made that.”

It’s not as if many of the workers themselves had been to the concerts and shows where their guitars were being played.

But through their struggle to be reinstated at Cort Guitars, the solidarity between the musicians and workers has brought the two together in a way that has not often happened before. Now the workers know who buys the guitars, and now musicians know and care about who makes their guitars.

Yokohama: Cor-tek worker with the Cort guitar he may have made in the factory, altered for a performance at Cream Festival (Nov. 7, 2009).

As musicians, artists, makers, and cultural activists – we believe that the people who make our instruments, who make art and music and beauty possible, should be able to work without fear, without harassment, without discrimination.

The Cort and Cort-tek workers have raised their voices for more than 1000 days of struggle, and we lift our voices with them, in whatever way we know how: by making our music, by lifting our brushes, by taking photos, and telling the workers’ story to the world.

Just as music and art can be a global language that crosses borders and boundaries, so is the belief in justice for the workers who make the music possible — it knows no borders. So we take action and we ask you to join us – because a world in which workers are denied their rights and livelihoods is not the world in which we can make our art and music.

See some of the past solidarity actions and submit your ideas and work to be posted on the Musicians and Artists page.

**Viewer Discretion Advised** The commercial you are about to watch simulates the effects of having

**Viewer Discretion Advised**

The commercial you are about to watch simulates the effects of having a full frontal lobotomy

Upon watching this commercial for the first time, I felt as if I had died and ended up in some sort of twisted purgatory where this commercial would loop for eternity. If you could physically injure yourself from cringing, I would have paralyzed myself, and would be spending the rest of me years in a vegetable state.

Apparently, this commercial takes place in the “cheer factory”, a place where everyone loves to break dance and rap about the holidays, but based on closer examination, Gap re-opened Auschwitz, painted it white, and filmed a commercial inside. Aside from the commercial’s target audience being no one, it doesn’t even fulfill the purpose of the advertisement, which is to make people want to buy their product. Not only will I not buy Gap clothes, I will never step foot inside a Gap store in fear of the people who actually liked this commercial and wanted to buy Gap clothes after seeing it. I guess people could argue that it would be some sort of reverse-advertising, where you make a commercial so stupid that everyone talks about it (Geico, Freecreditreport), creating publicity. After all, bad publicity is better than no publicity. However, I am not about to give Gap the benefit of the doubt for making this commercial with some sort of reverse psychology in mind because the level of intelligence required to think up and write this commercial borderlines metal retardation. The most amusing part about this commercial is when the girl eats shit at the end, summing up this whole waste of 33 second.

Verdict: Doo doo/Epic Fail

What to do when it comes on:

Mute: hit the mute next time this commercial comes on

Look Away: shield your eyes from this atrocity because even the slightest glimpse can kill brain cells

Ecco un’altro tassello che arricchisce il racconto di questa esperienza, nata da un’idea, realizzata in un’opera e divenuta un progetto di comunicazione.

Ten hours to go, the start of another gruelling shift ahead, get there 15 minutes before the 2/10 sh

Ten hours to go, the start of another gruelling shift ahead, get there 15 minutes before the 2/10 shift, place your over sized welly’s on, and make sure that you have two pair of socks, smooth cotton and the thick woollie type sock , just to keep your feet warm, wash your hands with the purple and blue soap, form the hand squeezer ,dry your hands with the new super fast hand dryer, and if you are lucky , you just might get the hand cream so your hand don’t split around the wigs of your finger nails, just a another start to the 2/10 shift.

Before you start ,make sure that the hair net is covering all of your hair, and if you could not be bothered to have shave the night before, wear the snoop, that funny looking thing, that fit’s around your chin and face, and after all that, you just might be ready for your 2/10 shift.

The factory is already of hustle and bustle form the shift before, all the different languages are talking, some polish, some English, some cheq, and a language, that you quite don’t under stand yet.

Walk pass the factory line, the machine have been working 24 hours flat, not faltering around and round they seems to be in continuous moving world that time seems to have no meaning, fit on your blue thin gloves with a twang, wear two pairs instead, just to make sure that the first pair does not split, and now you are all ready for your 2/10 shift

The radio in the back ground playing the same songs, You heard yesterday, walking through the factory floor, and you finally get to your working area, and of course it has to be right next to the freezer section, with the big sliding doors open all the time, because of the constant traffic in and out of the large freezer, the boss tells you, what’s to be done, and your are off, keeping moving, looking down the conveyer belt, waiting for the first item, that has to be packed, its a slow start, waiting for the machine to be changed, but when it get going, there no stopping it, one hand at first, then two hands, just to make sure that you are keeping up, conversation is slow, with your work colleges, some like not to talk, some can not stop talking.

You look at the clock on the wall, two hour in, some days it seems like two minutes and some days it seems like to two days not two hours, the sound on the conveyer belt, is starting to make the same sounds now, the repeated sound, of smooth turning of the plastic belt, which slowly turns into a hypnotic sound, which can be smoothing to the ear, it’s the sound you love to hate.

Four hours have gone, in the back of your mind it must be break time soon, you have half an hour, to get changed, get to the canteen, eat, and get to the outside smoking area, as each day passes, you try to think of a better way, of how to save those precise, minutes, and before you know it, its gone, finished, back to the factory floor, for an other four hours.

A quick stretch and jump up and down, gets you warmed up again, and back to it, sometimes the mind can play tricks on you, the smoothing turning noise has gone, you can not hear the radio and you are in the automatic mode, just like the machine, your eyes are wide open, trying to stay focused and trying to be quick as possible, and snap , the turning noise has come back, the radio is back in the foreground, and you wonder where have I been, you look up and the other workers seems to be in the same place that you have just been in, sliming to them selves , and you think to yourself, what are they sliming about, an other look at the clock , just to hours to go, will there be over time to night, or will it be the normal 2/10 shift.

The hands are know starting to throb with the cold, and the constants dampness of the products you are packing, run them under the hot tap, keep them warm, last hour, starting to slow down, you snap yourself back into action again, the back pain you have had all day, does not seems to exist any more, but if you slow down and start to think about it, it comes back again.

You have just been informed, that there is the two hours over time , do you laugh or do you cry, you try to give yourself a small boost up, to make sure that you can make it through an other two hours, take a walk to the toilet, just a change of environment, will give your mind, that all important rest, and then a deep breath, and away you go again, not bothering to look at the clock on the wall, you think to your self, if I don’t look, the time will go quicker, and it does, not much conversation on the line, workers starting to get tied, buy you finally make it, the gruelling 2/10 shift is over, you slowly climb the stairs to get to the changing area, slowly taking your white coat off, as you walk up the stairs, you crab your basket, the type that you used to get , when you went to the swimming pool, all done , your changed, and ready to get home, will it be your loved one, that be waiting for you or will it be the microwave two minute meal.

You see the out side ,after the shift and its dark outside, 20 minute walk home, soon be home and ready for the next day and next shift, all for that 2/10shift.
