KITE IN THE AIR

When looking at ’super groups’, making a whole that is greater than taking it’s individual parts is often one hell of a hit or miss business. Just check out rock’s attempts, with Velvet Revolver missing it badly, or the more recent Dead Weather, who made it work with a little more success, (although Jack White could join Jedward and make it work as far as we are concerned). Kite In The Air isn’t quite a ’super group’, but the members have previously existed in separation. Mike Genius, one half of the dark electronic riff section that was the American duo WZRDZ, has joined forces by playing the laptop behind another duo, Jed & Lucia, who are more used to providing us with a sweet blend of Californian gaze folk. So they seem to have previously occupied very different genres and it seems rather impossible to imagine they’d ever have a middle in which to meet. As individual groups their music seemed born from a type of drug infused haze, only the drugs of choice in WZRDZ case were mountains of petrol-infused crack, where Jed & Lucia were drifting on a purple cloudy wave of weed. However, the music they’ve created whilst pulling together is nothing short of astonishing! It’s music you will instantly adore, made equally for the headphones as the dancefloor. It’s what The Golden Filter would have loved to have made, with it’s four beat pace and electro riffs, but with Emma Lucia’s vocals the music totally takes off. There are the kind of peaks on each track, all available for free on their website, that would make anyone jealous. Clear headed, or mind fucked beyond repair, this is music that makes a bee-line for your cerebral cortex and stays there until the morning. Enjoy the sunrise. (MB)

MNDR

If you’re from the UK you would be forgiven for thinking this artist is named after the 1980s show starring Arthur Daley, but sadly not. It’s actually pronounced “Man-dar”, as in her real name, Amanda Warner, and she’s one of those very special finds! Locating a diamond cut like this is all too rare and it’s commonly followed by plenty of whoops and over-enthusiastic yelping. Apologies if you involuntarily produce some these noises too, but at least you’ve been warned. Like all good music, this is best played very loudly, so the synth punch goes straight through you, Bruce Lee style. Don’t be fooled for thinking this is too basic either, as simplicity is a lot harder to create than you would think and Amanda’s jams, and they are proper jams, have mastered this art. Jerked dance hall drum machine beats, of a kind not seen since Santi White, jump over modulated synths in a style claimed to be nerdcore. However, her thumping tunes have plenty of pop and melody fitted inside too, in the same great way those other nerds, Hot Chip, achieve so effortlessly, (she even shares their love of big geek glasses!). The key to it all wrapping up so well is the vocals, which reflectively remind us of Kim Wilde. She’s previously worked with Har Mar Superstar, Deerhoof and Yeah Yeah Yeahs in various ways, so we will try and get her over to the UK so she can headline a Recommender gig next year. Hopefully plenty more will arrive from her between now and then as she’s currently busy piecing together her debut album. This is one space we will all be watching intently! (MB)

CITADELS

We’ve known about this Shoreditch three piece for some time now, but as always the packed inbox of the blogger is both a blessing, giving us many introductions, but also a bastard, as it takes such a long time to get around to listening to, and ultimately writing about, each new discovery. Citadels seem to be well known around the trendy East London circles, with two out of the three also performing as the dance duo Labyrinth Jackals to reflect their schizophrenic love of dance music. So good was their recent remix of Seven by Chew Lips that we may well have to write Labyrinth Jackals’ own Recommender in due course. If we get around to it of course! Anyway, back to the band Citadels, their original construction, which they formed upon moving to the capital from their south coast roots. The regular comparisons to The Flaming Lips electro pop would only work if the Oklahoma giants had Brett Anderson fronting them! However, their vocals enjoyably crescendo in the same excellent way that Wayne Coyne’s do and they similarly produce a type of playful, dreamy, layered peak to each of their songs. It’s intelligent and totally fearless music, absolutely rammed with melodies and contagious vocals. When they reach the summit of their songs, and they build a song as good as anybody, it turns out the view is truly beautiful. For fans of imaginative, aspirational guitar pop, you will do well to watch this band, as they are due to really deliver their master plan during 2010. (MB)

Polaroid Fanatic? Go to Polapremium.com and get your mits on some of their limited edition Polaroid films…

Overdrawn?

One of the few companies left to stock and sell Polaroid film Polapremium have just excitedly announced that they have 600 Matte Polaroid film back in stock. The film expired in June 2008, but has been safely stored in a cool environment and has been tested numerous times, so the film is still in perfect condition…

The benefits of this film? The matte surface allows you to draw, write and doodle all over the photograph without it smudging or wiping off.

As Polapremium say themselves, “Be it the heartbreaking lover’s oath, a forgotten umbrella, your underestimated painter’s talents, the visualisation of ambitioned dreams or a simple but honest thank you note – the 600 matte film will take it all with ease.”

Overdrawn film is only compatible with Type 600 cameras.

A pack of 10 costs 16 euros, 14.50 pounds or 22 US dollars depending on your destination…

Triple Dip…

Polapremium have also got their hands on Type 100 film, this time in three different colours, Blue, Chocolate and Sepia.

If you already have a favourite you can buy a pack of 10 individually. However, if you are new to the Type 100, or fancy the variety of three different tones to choose from, Polapremium are also offering the Triple Dip- a discounted price on all three colours if bought together.

Each colour of the Type 100 offers a unique Polaroid experience…

The Type 100 Chocolate creates moody photographs that are perfect for use in the big city. Type 100 Blue is the perfect complement to summer days- think beaches, sun and sea basked in a blue glow. And the Type 100 Sepia gives your Polaroids a vintage, old-fashioned feel…

Type 100 Polaroid film is only compatible with the Type 100 cameras.

You can buy the individual packs of 10 for 13 euros, 15 pounds or 17 US dollars. Triple Dips cost 39 euros, 35 pounds and 47 US dollars…

Fade To Black…

Most exciting of all, Polapremium now have the unique Polaroid Fade To Black film. This film is new and exclusive, and was one of the last film productions that Polaroid made in Enschede before the factor closed earlier this year.

Polapremium did not want to release this treasure before they knew exactly what it does, how it reacts and what can be done with it. So after a long period of testing they are finally ready to launch…

What is so special about this unique film is that shortly after taking the photo the Polaroid transforms into individual stages of light bluish greens through to darker brownish reds, before slowly gathering more and more unusual textures and streaks until it turns completely black.

Within 12 hours the film reaches an incredibly beautiful darkness. Within 24 hours the film is transformed into black completely…

Polapremium describe this amazing effect; “What may sound scary and destructive in fact is a beautiful materialisation of some of Polaroid’s unique characteristics: unpredictable results, unique and independent picture development and the nostalgic component of chemicals darkening over time.”

“This film is like a visualisation of time. A film like a tribute to Polaroid film itself.”

Whatever magical moment was captured on that particular Polaroid no one will ever know. Unless you follow the following three steps that Polapremium have developed in order to stop your Polaroid image from forever disappearing…

1. Wet or Dry Peeling…

This technique is the most tricky, but creates unpredictable and beautiful results. It basically involves peeling apart the film once it has reached the stage of darkness you want and then experimenting with either dry or wet peeling.

Dry peeling involves gently pulling the film apart slightly and then leaving the film open to develop and dry…

Wet peeling is slightly trickier, but far more effective at creating beautiful effects. Once the film has been pulled apart completely, you can wash the chemicals off the back of the film foil, taking car not to scratch or damage the image. Once rinsed, gently dry the foil and return to the back of the Polaroid with some tape. This technique allows you to then apply scratches, watercolours, chemicals and blotches to manipulate the image. Experimenting with hot and cold water also creates different effects.

2. The Solar Technique…

For those in a lovely sunny country (those living in the UK are screwed…) you can use the Solar technique to revive totally blackened Polaroids. Simply peg the Polaroid onto a washing line outside for a few weeks and let the sun work its magic and bleach your Polaroid back to life. This effect creates haunting nostalgic sepia tones.

3. The Digital Age Technique…

This is the least destructive way to capture your Polaroids! If you have a scanner, or even a digital camera, you can remember the life span of your Fade To Black Polaroid by scanning in the image a varying intervals as it transforms.

For more information on these techniques, please have a look at the Polapremium website where you can download a PDF technique document, or watch a video which shows you exactly how to experiment with the film without damaging it!

Fade To Black is only compatible with SX-70 Polaroid cameras.

Polapremium prices for a pack of 10 photos are 14 euros, 12.80 pounds and 17.50 US dollars.

Bleach Movie 3: Fade to Black is a great anime movie. The female villain is just crazy in this film

Bleach Movie 3: Fade to Black is a great anime movie. The female villain is just crazy in this film and dark Rukia is definitely my favorite of the villians in all three films. After an explosion that covers about 30% of the Seriettei, Ichigo goes to Soul Society to investigate and finds that everyone there doesn’t remember him or Rukia. Two mysterious intruders break in to the twelfth squad’s laboratory and escape with Kurotsuchi’s latest invention, but not before partially wiping some of his memories and obliterating a third of Seireitei. So, naturally, if you are watching this movie without seeing any previous Bleach material, you will be heavily lost here.

Sadly, Fade to Black suffers from one of the same pitfalls as the series. It starts out with an interesting premise that then fizzles away. In this case, I found the whole concept of erasing all recollections of one particular person, thus wiping out her existence, intriguing, not because of the actual memory loss but because of its repercussions. The concept has been used many a time, and always will be, because it allows a second and maybe third run through the same scene or scenes that we all loved so much. Watching Ichigo fighting his way back through seireitei for Rukia yet again was a good idea seeing as everyone was itching to know how well he would do against the Shinigami forces now.

As the two earlier films in the franchise, Fade to Black takes place in an alternative timeline than that of the ongoing series. After witnessing some rather dismal animation in the series, Fade to Black’s impressive visuals come as a refreshing change. Eventually it picks up and the battle towards the end is awesome with just about all the Shinigami’s and their attacks. As expected this Bleach movie is probably the best among all the Bleach movies that were made until now. In terms of story this didnt left me with an empty feeling.

As an overall this movie is highly recommended but only for those who been through the Bleach episodes mainly because if you havent you won’t be able to understand some things from it. I’m also damn sure that if you are a fan of Bleach it is impossible to hate this movie. The movie is about when two mysterious beings infiltrate the Seireitei and erase all memories of Rukia’s existence and what she has done. The plot in the movie was quite strong actually. It made me want to watch it more and more as it went on. For a few good reasons, it was very mysterious as to who those two people were who stole the memories, and suspenseful most of the time. To wrap things up this was definately worth the watch, and I don’t think that I even have to recommend this to any Bleach fan out there. To be honest, I didn’t think there would be more Bleach movies after The DiamondDust Rebellion that would entertain almost at the same level as the original manga. Obviously I was wrong.

Saludos.

It took me a month to do what I have promised (did I actually promise something? ); might have been hard for me to write a post for this blog. My preference seem to have switch over micro-blogging and foru–wait, what the hell. With those crap in mind, I will never update this blog again for eternity.

Cut the crap. In short, above paragraph means I actually am back to my daily basis (of blogging); I hope so do too with my regular blog-walking. As a start, I’d like to give some film review. Well, I’ve just watched Bleach the Movie 3: Fade to Black, and while it’s still hot in my mind, I guess it’s better to write up some commentaries regarding the film.

I realize my lack of proper knowledge hinders me from writing a good entry in English, but I have the intention to write this entry in a language most people could understand I’m not talking about SEO, so please do apologize.

—

Bleach: Fade to Black, I Call Your Name

The film started with Kurotsuchi Mayuri doing certain experiment that yields in success, but only to find his memory being taken over by some mysterious scythe wielding figure a moment later. His partial lost of memory resulting in he being mad and destroying his lab by stabbing the central computer several times. Some gray giant “snakes” composed of reiatsu then appears as a result of the R&D Lab’s malfunction and put everyone who have contact with those snakes (it is “eaten” actually) into stone, as similar as what you would’ve become if you have an eye-contact with Medusa. The reiatsu snakes destroys many part of Seireitei and covers 30% of which with grayish substance who seem to turn anything into a stone. Including Zaraki Kenpachi.

The event triggered chaos in the Spiritual World (Seireitei, more precisely). Meanwhile, Rukia, seeing the chaos from afar, is met with two mysterious figures–one of them is that scythe-wielder who striked down Mayuri–dressing in gray. They put Rukia in unconsciousness and possibly take her memories away, just like they (he) did to Mayuri.

In the human world, Kurosaki Ichigo is still sleeping when he suddenly senses danger and wakes up. For a moment he seems to forget his memories about Rukia, but Kon reminds him of her by showing a letter she left for them in similar manner to the one she left before leaving to be executed in Seireitei. They then meet Urahara Kisuke at his shop, and were told about the incident that happened in Seireitei. Ichigo and Kon decide to see what is actually going on in Seireitei, only to find it in ruins with no one there remembers either who Ichigo or Rukia is.

Music and Voice (3.5/5)

I have to say, unlike previous movies or the usual Bleach anime series we watch every week, the music this movie has is simply the best. It has orchestral arrangement that reminds me to several classical (though I’m not sure which one), and it fits the situation given there. I especially like the sudden change of music when Kenpachi was freed from the reiatsu-jail. The two antagonists seem to have their themes too, also in orchestra.

The voice acting here is somewhat better than the 2nd movie. I like how she (Fumiko Orikasa) voiced Rukia here, does not sound like the usual Rukia I know. Instead of heavy-pitched, it is more to lightly-hearted and… cuter.

Oh, and I also liked how Aya Hirano voiced the female antagonist in the movie with her annoying-but-cute voice. She is a perfect cast for this.

Animation (4/5)

The backgrounds are drawn pretty well. I love how they seem to show more panoramic view of Soul Society, it can give the viewers the impression of how BIG Soul Society actually is. We can barely see the horizon even from the center of Seireitei… How the characters move actually is also pretty nice. The only drawback is the way the characters run; their hands… uhh… looked odd, if viewed from back.

As for the battle scenes, it moves quite swift, surprisingly. Compared to battles in the 2nd or 1st movie, this one is much better. First reason, the animation is better; their faces don’t turned weird while having a little chat in the midst of the battle. The sword fights and skills are also nice. Second, while they, still, use bankai for almost everytime… the crew actually spent some time to draw some battles that rely on sword techniques, as shown in Renji vs Ichigo –though only for about a minute. The biggest disappointment is Komamura Sajin who seemed to never use his shikai and summoned a gigantic bankai instead every time he has to face an enemy. Not to mention how slow (and a bit odd) his bankai moves…

*facepalm*

Story (3.5/5)

Simply said, this movie is all about the relationship of Ichigo and Rukia. Too bad for IchiHime fans, because none of Ichigo’s human friends are mentioned in Fade to Black.

The idea of antagonists being former close-friends/formed a close relationship with the protagonist is not a new idea; we had one in DiamondDust Rebellion. Well, actually, in my opinion this movie resembles a lot of scenes from Bleach earlier chapters; specifically, while Ichigo was still new to his subsitute-shinigami job. There are several other similarities with the old chapters too, as the concept of parasitic Hollow (we had Mestastacia who fed on Shiba Kaien back then), many flashbacks of Rukia’s childhood and her relationship with Ichigo while staying in human world, how intimate Soi Fong and Yoruichi could be (remember their fight aftermath), and some other else.

Good thing is, they also use some concepts that Kubo Tite seemed to have forgotten already –at least, he never mentioned about it again. Such concepts, for example, is the concept of Reiraku (spiritual thread). It is first introduced when Ishida taught Ichigo how to track other spiritual-aware creatures, and is shown here again when Renji asked Ichigo to track Rukia’s location by her spiritual pressure that is similar to Ichigo’s. As for me, such trivia is a nice addition to blend more into the Bleach universe.

They also didn’t spawn too many captains to handle the antagonists here–unlke the 1st movie. I mean, in Memories of Nobody, the antagonists are easily killed and the fights looked boring, but here, since we only have two antagonists to fight (and they actually merged themselves to Dark Rukia), the captains don’t have to sweat over useless enemies; they only have to cut and slash the infinite amount of gray snakes to bits. Ichigo’s fight with Dark Rukia also looked good too, despite of being interfered with unknown reason by Kuchiki Byakuya.

Well, several characters like Yoruichi, Komamura, Mayuri, and Kenpachi are merely plot-device though. That does not mean it is bad, but… it could’ve been better.

Conclusion (3.5/5)

A nice movie to enjoy if you are a Bleach fan, and not too bad also if you are a fan of anime in general–though you may not be familiar with the situation and what actually is going on with the characters. It is a movie, so, well, you won’t find much complains about the animation and drawing; the story isn’t too heavy to understand also. It talked about memories and bonds with every person we have relationship with, not too bad, in my opinion.

At least, Rukia looked cute and sexy in her Dark Rukia form –better than Senna in the 1st– so I guess we don’t have to complain too much either~ <3

9:52am

I fainted.

Is that even legal?

Well, I’m used to getting offa my bed and feeling like everything is getting blurred and darker. But I’ll just stand still and, after a few seconds, get over it.

But fainting! It’s a while new thing for me. If you even cal it that.

Anyway…

I woke up. Got off my bed and headed for the comfort room. Then, there is this familiar feeling… The feeling of everything getting blurred and darker – like, the darkness is closing in on you.. I was able to reach my table and put down my phone. I was trying to stand still but in came the feeling like in one of those times when I can say that I have kidney stones. Then, it went on… Darker and darker. The next thing I knew, I was shaking, like, there’s a really strong earthquake going on, and I don’t know what was going on and it seemed like I can’t stop it… My cheeks felt like they were burning, and I was sitting by the table.

I don’t even remember trying to sit down. In times like this, I do my best to be able to stand still. I know I hit something – my face hurt. Either the chair or the table. Maybe both. Anyway, the chair has moved – either cuz I got to lean on it or it was when I fell. I wasn’t lying down cuz the table was there, maybe that.

I believe it was just a few seconds but, man!, it so don’t feel good.

I didn’t have to tell anyone so I continued what I was about to do before I fainted.

I did this writing after having breakfast but still… I feel a little bit woozy. Even my typing is not as good…

My body is not awesome right now…

11:26am

Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

I just saw the murder of a dog. Well, not really. I had to llok away. I can’t take on that kind of scene.

But damn it! Even it I was a few meters away, sitting in a chair outside our house, I can hear the sound of the pounding on the dog.

And I wasn’t able to do anything!

Well, yeah, the dog got hit by some automobile, I heard it crying, but it lived. It tried to get offa the main road to safety. Why did they have to kill it?!

They didn’t have to, right?

Well, my neighbor told me that it was so because it would be dangerous to pick up that dog if it was still half-alive; they could’ve been bit. But still! They didn’t have to kill that dog!

OK, fine, I sound like PETA but I ain’t no vegan. I eat meat.

But, damn it!, I hate that sound and it still resonates in my head…

11:32am

10:04pm

Damn these Coke advertisements!

I was just… Yeah, I was pissed – I haven’t been able to play and I’ve been wanting to since yesterday - and still is but I tried to calm myself down and played O2Jam. Then, I had the chance to see this Coke advertisement about the Christmas plates and I was like…

It didn’t help that before I saw it, I realized one thing… Christmas is just around the corner.

So, I tried to get back to the game but, apparently, the mood’s broken already. I wasn’t able to do well in the gaming side.

Yeah, Christmas is just around the corner but… What does it matter when you don’t have a family to celebrate it with? What does it matter when you don’t have a home?

I hate talking about this… *Superchick’s Stand in the Rain is playing in the background.* I said I don’t wanna cry anymore. I’m so tired of this…

Am I just too young for this or just too weak? I think, I’d go with the latter…

I have to get out of this and grow…

10:20pm

A while back, I had a great argument with a friend of mine on the value of Barack Obama’s cele

A while back, I had a great argument with a friend of mine on the value of Barack Obama’s celebrity. My friend Robinson, was coming from an astute perspective that Obama’s pop star identity, his late night TV show appearances, the buttons and T-shirts and songs made about him would work to undermine his political position, and overshadow his purpose- to lead the United States of America. Me, being a lover, albeit critical, of pop culture defended that part of the reason (arguably the largest portion) Obama won the top seat in the country, was exactly because of his pop stardom. That Obama was present in America’s lives, in ways usually reserved for movie stars, popular authors and national personalities, earned him a permanence many political figures overlook. Instead of filtering his connection with the American mainstream, Obama brought himself to the public in ways that were daily, common and accessible. This made America love him.
Since then, the celebrity hasn’t really diminished. If Obama’s not the hot topic at the water fountain, Michelle Obama’s sartorial life (p.s.snore!) takes center. Obama still makes appearances on late night TV, is still the most sought after magazine cover and wins viewership whenever he makes a national address. At the same time, his recent winning of the Nobel Peace Prize has many of his supporters, and probably all of his adversaries, going “but what…what exactly have you done?” We have yet to see or feel the greater effects of Obama’s diplomacy, but we do know that homeboy was, apparently, black achieving presidency.

And now, HBO has crafted a tear-jerky politi-doc about Obama and his campaign’s way to the White House. As we all know, anything that ends up on HBO is sure to be telvisable-crack (Sex and The City, Entourage, True Blood). Rob’s point gains more weight considering the global reach of how cool Obama is. The dude is pretty dope.

It might be that I’m rooting myself in some kind of faith in Obama, but I maintain the validity of Obama’s media presence in America, and internationally. Producing a documentary that almost reads like Hova’s Fade to Black, might be stretching reason, but I continue to appreciate Obama’s awareness of remaining relevant, remaining commonplace, his attempt to maintain an image (we’re yet to see his real deal) of being the people’s President. As much as America (and the world) needs reformations in cold, calculated areas like health care, social security and the general economy-duh- there is also a need for connection, a use for national pride. I, personally, even understanding that it’s completely superficial at this point, am proud to say that Barack is my president. Look at him, how could you not. I don’t mean to discredit his vastly educated core, even on his Letterman interview above, delivers quality information- basically hides the vegetables in the steak. It might be this type of posturing that strengthens my belief that Obama will do right by us. I have no other reason to believe it.

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

Hello workers! Today I will be starting a serial – episodic – flash story, another words a story that unfolds in a serial fashion as ” The Shadow” did in the 1940’s radio show.

Presenting… “ Black “

The sun shone hard over the horizon. Its shape was egglike and puffy. I pulled on my green rubber boots and decided to head south to avoid the network of triangular shaped UFOs that had landed in the fields north of my estate. There were about forty of them, during the night, flying in perfect formations that sent a red glow over the landscape.

Sweat careened down my spine. It was ninety-five degrees, yet only slightly past seven in the morning. I grabbed my binoculars, compass, sunglasses and video. Cutting through the marshes and swamps I could probably avoid encountering them until I was ready to start filming.

What a week this had been. Between Neil breaking his arm, the water pump burning out and my editor returning a recently submitted manuscript covered with edit marks – I was ready to embark on one of those UFOs and head to Neptune myself.

The sightings had become quite common in New York. My farm was fifty miles from the border between New Jersey and Pennsylvania separated by a thin ribbon of water, the Delaware river. No contact had been reported between the government and the ‘visitors” as the press was referring to them in print. The tabloids were having a field day. One of their usually less than credible stories had actually come true. No one knew where they came from or their intentions.

Maybe it was an interstellar fly over a huge beautiful overwhelming display of their best bag of technical wizardry. At least that was the theory I clung to.

Now where was my … oh, there it is. Time to move while the heat is still bearable but not yet oppressive. Pools of condensation formed in my boots, trickling around toes that grasped orange flip-flops.

” You’d better get going, Artell, if you expect to make it back before Sara and Peter arrive,” Neil said as he poured himself some cold coffee from last night’s party. ” You know they’ll be disappointed if you are not here when they arrive, and for heaven’s sake be careful.”

” Don’t worry, I’ll be back before noon – if everything goes as planned.”

Artell loaded the items in her backpack and walked to the purple jeep, which they had bought at a sale of military surplus. Of course, it wasn’t purple when they bought the jeep, Artell’s niece, Sara, had begun painting a purple dragon on it one day and they just continued the process to its natural conclusion. She started up the engine expecting the usual sputtering and lurching, but to her surprise – it was smooth. Giving Neil the thumbs up, she drove off down the mile long driveway which streched to a dirt road and then the super highway.

To be continued…

Note:

Well, I couldn’t watch Kaiba since it’s on my newer but broken computer so instead I watched the third Bleach movie that just came out by fansubs recently. My next anime series will probably be Kaiba or the second season of Hayate no Gotoku!

Title: Bleach – Fade to Black: Kimi no Na wo Yobu (Call Your Name)
Type: Movie
Episodes: 1
Genre: Action/Fantasy

Plot Summary: A mysterious reiatsu (spiritual particle) explosion occurs in the center of Seireitei in Soul Society, causing it to be destroyed. At the exact same time, a major change overwhelms Kuchiki Rukia, which leaves her losing something important inside. Urahara Kisuke sends Kurosaki Ichigo to Soul Society to investigate the disturbance. Upon reaching Seireitei, Ichigo is set upon and attacked by shinigamis, once allies, who have no memory of him and Rukia. Now alone and on the run, Ichigo must find the missing Rukia and uncover the cause of the mysterious incident before it’s too late. -ANN

If you’re still new to watching Bleach I would suggest that you should wait on watching this movie, it still has a tiny bit of spoiler-ness to it. However, if you’ve kept up with the series and are a fan of Bleach then it’s just another filler treat.

Story – 5

The story is where this anime hurts most, it could have been executed better IMO. The premise starts out pretty good, Rukia gets kidnapped by mysterious intruders that have once again infiltrated Seireitei (there seems to be a lack of security there, especially at night) and everyone is stripped of any memory of her. Ichigo and Kon are the only ones that remember her and set off to find out what’s going on in Soul Society. Sounds interesting, huh; it has a lot of potential but doesn’t get better though.

Well, I’ll try not to spoil too much of the movie but this story is almost the exact same as story as the second movie, the DiamondDust Rebellion, but with a few changes. For example, the antagonists are people from the person’s—whom the story revolves around—past and instead of Hitsugaya Toushirou insert Rukia, plus, everyone is out to get Ichigo instead of Toushirou this time. You might also notice that there is a certain formula that the Bleach movie follows: the final battle involves a medley of Bleach characters showcasing their skills against a common foe. The similarity between this movie and the previous is that the enemy is terrorizing all Seireitei and threatens to destroy all of Soul Society. The DiamondDust Rebellion had a giant monster that did have some role in the plot; the giant monster-man-squid in this one seemed to be thrown in and came out of nowhere. Apparently, the 12th squad captain kept an unstoppable monster in one of the research labs and the two kids from Rukia’s past spawned him; the two kids in the movie don’t do much anyway except bitch about shinigamis and trying to get Rukia to remember them.

Some merits that this movie provides is the nostalgia the movie has with lots of references to the original main storyline and going back into some of the characters’ past which is a real nice treat for fans as it’s been awhile since we’ve seen the beginning arcs of Bleach, however, there a ton of flashbacks. With all that said you have to keep in mind that this movie is just an hour and thirty minute long filler, the story is not spectacular and does not impress.

Animation – 9

If you’re wondering why this movie got such a high rating on animation it’s because the quality of the animation is outstanding when compared to the main series. Although you do get flashes of brilliance from the series especially during climaxes in the storyline, most of the time we get very sub-par animation, in both filler and non-filler episodes. This movie is a visual delight for those Bleach fans that are stuck in those filler episodes. The animation looks sharp and well-drawn and the fights scenes look awesome throughout the movie. A little complaint I have is that in some scenes, they tried to overdo some of the reactions on the characters faces and it looked ugly at times. Other than that, this is Bleach at its finest and as an anime in general, it’s still some excellent animation.

Sound – 7

The sound is not bad, but nothing struck me as being better than usual because that’s exactly what we get here is the usual. If you noticed, the Bleach series uses the same background music for every type of occasion. This is not particularly a bad thing, in fact, it has become a staple for the series and something we should look forward to. However, I was expecting new background music somewhere just like, I believe, in the 2nd movie but it wasn’t there, but it’s completely fine with me. The ending theme song was decent, I didn’t find it all that appealing.

All of the voice actors/actresses are there for their respective characters, however, if you have a good ear you may spot something new. Yes, the ever-so famous Aya Hirano (Suzumiya Haruhi, Izumi Konata) uses her voice for the girl from Rukia’s past. This actually didn’t really do much for me because all she played was a whiny, little girl IMO.

Character – 7

All of your lovable Bleach characters are here… well… almost all of them. You may have noticed that Ichigo’s three buddies (Orihime, Ishida, Sado) aren’t with us this time and some of the vice captain’s are missing but everyone else makes an appearance in this movie. Two new characters, the two kids from Rukia’s past, are introduced to us as villains. Although they have a role in the plot, they are easily forgettable and don’t have any redeeming qualities as characters for me. Most of the time they act pretty bratty, but the movies explains why the way they are near the end so it’s forgivable, but still they’re not great characters anyway. So, the real cast is the shinigamis with most of the focus on Ichigo and Rukia.

Enjoyment – 7

This movie was a decent movie for me but it really wasn’t impressive. I was hoping for a better story but it did not deliver. There are a lot of similarities between this movie and the previous one so in the back of my mind I kept thinking that this seemed like a copy of the last movie. It is a pleasant treat for the Bleach fans out there since it has a couple of flashy fight scenes and lots of nostalgia for the good old times, especially for those deep into the main series, though it just seems more like a long Bleach episode if anything. It is a good movie to just sit down and enjoy when you have nothing else to watch.

Overall – 7

I made a lot of references to the previous movie cause of the similarities between them and I think the 2nd one is the better of the two but this movie is still a decent movie. It is a great movie for the target audience, younger generations, because it looks good, has glitzy fight scenes, has all your favorite characters showing off their powers, and has an easy story to follow. It wasn’t a bad movie… I just believe they could have done better with what they had.

On a side note: the construction business must be booming in Seireitei… it always seems like something is getting demolished and destroyed by enemies there and yet they still manage to keep all the buildings intact. Also, I feel sorry for any shinigami extras under the vice-captain rank, they seem to have low life-expectancies.

.. the 3rd movie, Fade to Black.

I’m going to be naughty and quote someone from MAL whom I found hilarious:

Cliched? Overbearing? Far too full of machismo? Has more plot holes than a colander?

I must be talking about Bleach.

- Archaeon, 2009.

Haha, so true but , anyway, let’s throw some quick thoughts down.

So.. when I first saw the preview, I was quite interested (I remember making a post about it..). It was eye-catching.. and I don’t know, looked like it would be better than the 2nd one, which kind of sucked (on that note, 1st movie was probably still the best out of the 3).

Anyway.. from MAL:

A mysterious reiatsu (spiritual particle) explosion occurs in the center of Seireitei in Soul Society, causing it to be destroyed. Now alone and on the run, Ichigo must find the missing Rukia and uncover the cause of the mysterious incident before it’s too late.

tl;dr – Everyone forgot Ichigo and Rukia, Ichigo has to go save Rukia, again.

Just an interesting note, none of the “human” characters are in this one! Like.. Chad, Inoue etc..

Anyway!

I’ll just do it this way -

Look, like I said, the preview was great, it was interesting, and I really wanted to watch it after I saw the preview.

However, after seeing the movie.. it feels a bit recycled, the plot that is. It was a bit draggy. Compared to the other movies, this one perhaps lacked a bit of action, actually.. I’ll take that back – lacked decent action.

I’m starting to wonder whether the producers are trying to milk like crazy now..

Come on!!

Oh well, at least it was good enough to be FINISHED hahaha.

P.s. Rukia, you are much loved, as usual.

Hi.

I totally forgot about this blogg. Sorry about that.

I had an English test last Friday, the teacher said that it would be on the chapter we’d been working with. But noo, it wasn’t anything that we HAD worked with. *’Sigh* But I think that I did okey either way.

I have finished several series this week. Might say something about them later.

I saw the third bleach movie yesterday. And it was awesome! Like way better then I thought it would be. It was “beginning of bleach” good. You know, like it was in the beginning. Before it got weird. You know…

The new characters, the enemies, was not that annoying and it was only two.

I don’t really know what more to tell about it. Just see it. Way better then the fillers in the original series.

And the ending song? It was also awesome! I really liked it.

I have also seen some new animes, one being “Inuyasha Final act” I have seen the first series and read the manga but I have completly lost. I didn’t remember when that happened. And so many chakters was still there!

Well, I have to stop for today.

By,bye

Bleach Movie 3 – Fade to Black, I Call Your Name centers to Rukia. Rukia could not recall anything especially Ichigo. Can Ichigo save Rukia or forever Rukia will forget Ichigo?

Catch who’s behind the loss of memory of Rukia and how Ichigo fights for Rukia.

S’alright. I meant mini. Really, what else is there to say about a Bleach movie? I know what i

S’alright.

I meant mini.

Really, what else is there to say about a Bleach movie? I know what it is going to entail, I know it won’t surprise me in a good way, same thing every year, shit goes down, Zaraki gets incapcitated at the start of the movie, story happens, then it ends with all the captains blowing shit up, Zaraki comes back and laughs, Ichigo fights a final boss.

For a Bleach movie? It was pretty good, Urahara got to do something for once which was a plus. My main complaint is that Hitsugaya was being painfully “haha I’m #1″ what with beating Ichigo in less than 10 seconds, and being the only captain to find anything strange about the situation initially. Hitsugaya’s “fan service” moments, such as these, irritate me, as they are really forced. You know something’s wrong when things are being forced in a freakin’ shounen movie.

Animation? Fluctuated, it was alright at times, and downright awful at others. It’s a little sad that, this being a shounen action movie, there’s not really any memorable or exciting fights. Sword of the Stranger? I remember almost every fight from that. KNK? Not an action movie but I remember every fight from that. In my eyes, Bleach has yet to surpass the Ichigo vs Grimmjaw (his name is Grimmjaw Jaguarjack, I don’t care what you say) fight from episode 121, their second fight in 166 came close however. Honestly at the rate Bleach is going now, I doubt it will surpass it anytime soon, perhaps they are saving budget up for the “I’M A DEVIL FUCK YOU” fight with Ulqauiraoraoigagalsrlasiahora.

Best part of the movie though? Yamamoto stopping a bolt of lightning with his beard (okay maybe it was his sword but I can pretend.)

DB’s subs are shit as always, I suppose I can take some measure of comfort from that.
