She gave to me birth

But You brought me up, You.

And when I see birds

I always think of You.

Took me to Forests

You took me near your Dreams

Treated me closest

And washed away my fears.

And You showed me Beauty

And that I love You

When Wind is blowing

I can still hear your words

Rivers are flowing

And Time destroys our Worlds

My heart is breaking

’Coz I should forget You

As You are fading

I insist more on… You.

Back to our regularly scheduled program. This week we have eight new videos by eight bands. You

Back to our regularly scheduled program. This week we have eight new videos by eight bands. You’ll also find a poll at the very end. Thanks goes out to International Wota for the Halloween shoutout, making last week’s column the most viewed yet!

PILLS EMPIRE- “Demophobia”

Another excellent artist from UK.PROJECT. Their sound is hard to compare, but I settled with the telephones meets Nine Inch Nails. If you’re into mysterious garage rock than this one’s for you. Their debut album Mirrored Flag was released earlier this month and it rocks. (myspace)

BIGMAMA is back with a new single from their third album. Thankfully they didn’t steal any riffs from Jimmy Eat World this time. I actually liked this video a lot. It features the lead vocalist walking around in his pajamas trying to kill himself. But just in the nick of time, one of his band members replaces the murder weapon with pie or a banana. If you like violin soaked punk rock, BIGMAMA should be a no brainer. (myspace)

ar- “Love Lu Le Lo”

Ar is much more mellow than what I’ve come to expect from Thistime Records. They’re one of those quiet acoustic bands with minimal experimentation. This video is likewise quiet and peaceful, only featuring a man writing a letter, which I assume are the lyrics to the song. (myspace)

FREAKYFROG- “Pop Music”

I introduced FREAKYFROG a few posts back as being fronted by former BEAT CRUSADERS member umu. Now they have released their first PV from their debut album. This song and video remind me a lot of the telephone’s “Urban Disco.” The amount of synthesizer on this song is much greater than on any of the previews I’ve heard from the album. Regardless, I went ahead and ordered it and will receive it whenever YesAsia decides to ship it to me. (myspace)

Sorry For A Frog- “Just Grow Up! Just Be Strong!”

Honestly, I just wanted to have two bands named after a frog in a row. They remind me of Ken Yokoyama, which is never a bad thing. The song comes from their second album Happy Songs For Somebody’s Happiness. Thanks guys, that was very sweet. (myspace)

DALLAX- “Six Rude Boy Machinegun”

DALLAX may have been skanking up Japan for the past 10 years, but this is the first time their “Oi” graced my ears. It’s just hard not to have fun to this kind of music. Kudos on the faux Twister board stage. (myspace)

Hawaiian6- “Brand New Dawn”

I normally don’t listen to Hawaiian6. But I was mesmerized throughout the video for one reason: Yuta’s epic beard. How many Japanese men do you see with beards? Just saying. (myspace)

fade- “So Far Gone”

I’ve always been wary of Japanese bands that recruit a white boy for lead singer. It just seems like a gimmick to me. But no doubt about it, having a singer that can actually sing in English will increase their marketability in Japan by tenfold, even if he’s not a looker. They actually don’t sound that far off from Christian bands RED or Switchfoot. Their sound is undeniably western, a perfect fit for American radio-waves but will Japan dig it? (myspace)

At the end of season 2, sadly Hoyt dumps Jessica (boo! his mama deserved to be bit). As a new vampire she’s already somewhat uncontrollable and try adding a teenager who just got dumped by her true love and we have trouble. The show leaves Jessica in a truckstop sucking the blood out of some trucker who thought he was in for a good time.
I decided to give Jessica a blood stained look. I used Orly Poison Apple, China Glaze Ravishing Dahling and a clear polish from Sally Hansen. I put Poison apple on the top fourth of my nail, then put a few dots of Ravishing Dah-ling on the nail and the Poison Apple. I used the clear to make faded technique, but made sure to leave the bottom of the nail clean.

Love was once mine, Once upon a dream~

Okay yeah that was random. You can’t blame me for being bored.

I have a story to tell~

Now everyone gather around and settle down.

Okay, I’m joking… Kind of…

Today was a pretty average day, civics presentation, science quiz, math review class, etc. But Today, I walked into my first perios class (history) with my teacher, first thing in the morning, and we found that the window in the classroom was broken. *ohhhh* Later on we found out someone had tried to break in, though I’m not entirely sure what you could steal from a classroom. ‘OH LOOKY HERE! I stole a pencil from my history class!!!!’ Yay? Either way, the window was broken, but some dude came into fix it so now it’s shiny and clear. THE END.

Ahahaha. Interesting eh? but seriously, what is there to steal in a classroom, especially a history classroom, unless you wanted an old map from W.W.I then I don’t see anything that could be worth stealing. Eh. Odd people think what they think, same with criminals, and window breakers.

Nu am timp sa privesc in jur.

In zadar.

I have been looking for this bar tape for months and google searches of ‘fade tape’, ‘faded bar tape’, and all other variations on the word ‘fade’ produced nothing!

‘Shade’ is the word I should have used folks and had I known that sooner it may have saved me a whole lot if time and heartache but anyway I have now found it.

It is called ‘Peltan Shade’ and it is made by Ciclolinea.

This ebay seller has a few NOS sets of them in various colours so if you have an eighties/nineties whip that you are looking to spruce up then look no further because this stuff really looks the business.

Ciclolinea Peltan Shade is also strangely reminding me of these: Nike Air ( Agassi ) Tech Challenge.

Citigroup is shedding a business that has generated profit by taking big r …

Citigroup Inc will sell its Phibro energy trading business to Occidental Petroleum Corp, allowing the bank to defuse a battle with regulators over a $US100 million ($110 million) pay package for the unit’s star trader.

Citigroup is shedding a business that has generated profit by taking big risk, while oil and gas producer Occidental is venturing into new territory after long trading conservatively. Occidental was drawn to a bargain and potential profits, analysts said.

The price of the transaction was not disclosed, but Occidental said its net investment would be only about $US250 million and that it was paying roughly the net asset value of the business. Analysts concluded that Citi had sold Phibro for a pittance.

Andrew Hall, the unit’s star trader, will invest in the business alongside other executives, and his 2009 compensation will be paid out in future years based on the unit’s performance.

Hall, who famously collects contemporary art that he houses in a castle in Germany, has become a lightning rod for criticism over Wall Street compensation.

The Obama administration’s “pay czar,” Kenneth Feinberg, who is reviewing compensation at major bailout recipients, would have struggled to change Hall’s 2009 pay package because he lacks legal authority over contracts put in place before Feb. 11, 2009, according to people familiar with the matter.

Feinberg pressed Citigroup to fix the problem and to reduce Hall’s pay in future years, people familiar with the matter said, making Hall unlikely to stay.

Phibro has been profitable in recent years but has lost money in the past. In 1998, Citigroup put the unit on the auction block because of its wildly fluctuating profits, but the bank never found a buyer. Occidental looked at the company then, Occidental Chief Financial Officer Stephen Chazen told Reuters.

Government regulators have particular sway over Citigroup, which has yet to repay a $US45 billion taxpayer bailout and is roughly one-third owned by taxpayers.

Last month, Citigroup Chief Executive Vikram Pandit said publicly that $US100 million was too much for an employee to earn, given the bank’s circumstances.

“When the government is an owner and Congress and regulators are looking over (CEO Pandit’s) shoulder when he writes a check, then he has to be trembling if he writes a $US100 million check,” said Holland & Co President Michael Holland, who worked with Hall in the 1990s.

Citigroup said the sale was not material to its earnings. Hall and his team trade out of a former dairy farm in Westport, Connecticut. The Phibro unit operates almost completely separately from the rest of Citigroup, meaning that removing it should have no impact on the bank’s other businesses, including its commodities trading business for clients, people familiar with the matter said.

The sale of Phibro would be the latest in a series of divestitures by Citigroup. Earlier this year it sold a controlling stake in its Smith Barney retail brokerage to rival Morgan Stanley, as it faced pressure from regulators to raise capital and overhaul operations.

Citigroup considered many options for its Phibro business, ranging from spinning it off to opening it to outside investors, people familiar with the matter have told Reuters.

Citigroup Stock closed down 2 cents at $US4.63, while Occidental was off 55 cents, at $US79.54, both on the New York Stock Exchange.

High pay

Occidental is no stranger to high pay packages. Its CEO, Ray Irani, has long been one of the best-paid executives in the world. He took home $US60.5 million in 2008 and famously received total compensation of nearly $US450 million in 2006.

Irani is the largest individual shareholder in Occidental.

The acquisition is a departure from Occidental’s traditional reluctance to make big bets on energy markets, but the company could see its investment repaid within two years, said Fadel Gheit, energy analyst with Oppenheimer & Co.

“It’s really cheap,” Gheit said, adding that Occidental’s management is likely to put Hall and the rest of his team on a shorter leash. Phibro has earned an average of $US371 million a year before taxes over the last five years.

“They (Occidental’s management) are not going to allow their hard work be put at risk to let Phibro play a high-stakes poker game. There is a new cop on the beat here,” Gheit said.

Occidental Petroleum CFO Chazen said he does not view Phibro as a material source of earnings fluctuation for the company, adding that the unit has been profitable every year back to 1997.

“You probably won’t even see the volatility,” Chazen said.

Said David Tendler, who was co-CEO of Phibro in the 1980s, “It’s a great move for Occidental Petroleum because they’re getting a proven team.”

Tendler said of Hall, “He’s had a record of years of production. He’s a hell of an asset.”

Phibro history

Phibro, formerly Philipp Brothers, acquired the investment bank Salomon Brothers in 1981, though the bank would gain control of the merged entity. Travelers Group acquired Salomon in 1997 and a year later acquired Citicorp, to create Citigroup.

Hall, a British-born naturalized American citizen, has kept a low profile. He has over the years acquired an extensive contemporary art collection, including pieces from Andy Warhol and Bruce Nauman. He displays his art in his 1,000-year-old castle in Germany.

YOUR DREAMS ARE NOT YOUR OWN.

“Wake” is the first book in a fantastic paranormal romantic trilogy and a New York Times Bestseller. Written by Lisa McMann, this book will have you hooked after reading the excerpt. It is just that good. Don’t believe me?? Read it….

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can’t tell anybody about what she does—they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more that just a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant….

See what I mean?
It is a great story with a haunting concept. You won’t be able to put the book down. And of course there is Cabel, the handsome romeo who sweeps her off her feet, but it isn’t as perfect as it seems. Life is a long, bumpy road for Janie Hannagan and the only person she has to confide in is Cabel. He is the only person who knows her secret, who she can feel normal around.
The second book in the trilogy is “Fade”, and equally enthralling read that will keep you clinging to the pages, wondering what will happen. It has a killer cliff-hanger ending that will make you wish to speed up time for the release of the next book. “Gone”, the last installment of the trilogy comes out February and it can’t come soon enough.

Credits to uncrate.com for posting these 514’s up on their website. I own several pairs of Levi’s 514 jeans as my do-all-yet-look-good jeans. What I like about the 514 is the versatility of the fit because you can wear these tight as hell, you can get it baggy, or you can wear just right. I personally own about 4 good pairs of Levi’s 514 jeans in all different fits. In addition there are a ton of different washes. Speaking of washes, the Imprint 514 lets you control the fade and wrinkle on your 514’s. Pretty sweet.

“ISM was a shot in the arm,” said Brian Dolan, chief currency strategist at Forex.com. “A lot of risk trades are being put back on,” which weighed on the dollar.

The U.S. dollar has tumbled this year as investors have turned toward higher-yielding currencies and assets, such as Stocks, in the belief these would get a sharper boost from economic recovery. In recent weeks, some non-U.S. finance officials have mentioned the importance of a stronger dollar and its role in the recovery of economies that rely on exports to the U.S.

But such language was absent from the Group of Seven joint communique, released by developed nations‘ finance ministers at the close of their weekend meeting in Istanbul.

The greenback started off the U.S. trading session lower, playing off the communique’s no specific mention of the dollar. Instead, officials repeated that countries would continue to monitor foreign-exchange rates and welcomed China’s “continued commitment to move” toward more flexible rates.
“The G7 failed to mentioned U.S. dollar weakness, opting instead for a general warning against excessive volatility in currency markets,” said T.J. Marta, founder and chief strategist at Marta on the Markets, in emailed commentary. “Consequently, the U.S. dollar is down against most major currencies.”

Remarks by euro-zone officials last week had led to heightened expectations that the statement would include language specifically calling for a stronger dollar.

Remarks at the conference by Japanese Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii signaled again that the government would step in if it believed the yen’s movements had become excessive, news Reports said.

“As I have said in Tokyo, we will take appropriate steps if one-sided movements become excessive,” he told a post-G7 joint conference, according to Dow Jones Newswires.

Strategists said those comments helped boost the dollar and other currencies against the yen. Fujii has in recent weeks issued repeated warnings about the willingness of Japan to intervene in foreign-exchange markets after having initially signaled comfort with the yen’s recent strength.

I can’t pass up a nice haircut chart. The appeal is the grid with many pictures, plus seeing the normal hairstyles placed next to the what-the …? ones. I’m not alone in my fondness; the haircut charts on the Brooklynpix blog are very popular.
