Patrick Swayze will live on in the hearts of millions of moviegoers as ghastly New York City night d

Patrick Swayze will live on in the hearts of millions of moviegoers as ghastly New York City night demon, Sam Wheat…and, of course, no one is likely to forget John “fidgety hips” Castle any time soon. However, with Swayze’s recent passing comes the inevitability of his secondary roles fading slowly into obscurity…and with this, we’re faced with the very real possibility of future generations growing up without the guidance of his most important film credit, James Dalton.

Dalton deficiency in a boy’s development will spark the devolution of man.

Without Road House, you lose the immortal words “pain don’t hurt”…and without this declaration, humanity loses it’s strength. Our species will become frail and weak. We will eventually be conquered by creatures inferior by today’s standards. A century from now it’s a distinct possibility our surviving civilization will succumb to a herd of guinea pigs.

The question begging to be answered is: Who’s going to put the “MAN” back in the future of “mankind”?

Along comes Scotty. He’s coolheaded and evenhanded, but he means business. His experience transcends taking out the trash at a seedy roadside bar…he does his dirty work on the savage fairgrounds. No man’s land. On top of that, he too has a degree in philosophy, only his was printed out on carnival tickets and inked with the blood of all those who’ve dared cut in line at the merry-go-round.

In Scotty, we have not only the successor to James Dalton, but perhaps…

…the savior of the human race.

Fair movie. Location : France / Lebanon / UK I thought this was a fair film that follows the evolvin

Fair movie.

Location : France / Lebanon / UK

I thought this was a fair film that follows the evolving relationship between a taxi driver and his passenger during the 2006 Lebanon-Israel cease-fire. The film starts out with actual video footage of the bombing and chaos taking place in Lebanon, and then there is a pause – a cease-fire. It’s a mad dash for people to pull themselves back together and regroup. Others use the cease-fire as an opportunity to get out of there.

Tony (a Christian taxi driver) picks up Zeina (a Shiite woman from Beirut) and their journey to find her family in the south of the country begins. Note these two actors are the only professional actors in the film, which was filmed on location during the summer of 2006. This creates a very real depiction of what is going on in that part of the world and how it tears families apart.

I won’t spoil the plot of what Zeina discovers along this journey, but it does have an interesting twist at the end. One thing about the plot I will let you in on is that you will find out that Zeina and Tony have more in common than they had anticipated. Tony was my favorite in this flick. You have to be a special type of person to be a taxi driver in these kind of circumstances. A fun character indeed – a taxi driver driving under the bombs listening to language tapes through a fading player. What did you think of Tony?

I use it in my work every day as a therapist to help people understand their personality and find their pathway through life.”
–Jean-Francois Beltrami, counselor and kinesiologist

Welcome to Lucy Harmer’s Shamanic Astrology monthly forecast for the Northern Hemisphere! Each month Lucy shares inspiration and ideas for the coming weeks from her book Shamanic Astrology: Understanding Your Spirit Animal Sign.

Shamanic Astrology is based on the study of the movement of the sun and the moon during the different seasons of the year. There are twelve astrological ‘”signs” which are represented by twelve different spirit animals. To find out your own personal spirit animal sign (the sign you were born under), please check the table of spirit animals at the end of this article. Shamanic Astrology teaches us that inner power derives from knowing the properties, characteristics, and qualities of each spirit animal (known as their “medicine”), and applying this in our own lives.

Each month I will focus on the spirit animal for that month, and describe the “energy” of the month itself and also the influence of the moon. I will also indicate which other spirit animal signs will find this month to be particularly beneficial, and why.

November 22-December 21: OWL

Month of Hibernation and Long Nights

Spirit Animal Sign of the Month:
Owl is the spirit animal which corresponds to November 22 – December 21 (in the northern hemisphere). If you were born at this time, your spirit animal sign is Owl and you share Owl’s strengths of being fair, honest, wise, philosophical, idealistic, optimistic, and independent. You are someone who enjoys the good life! You may also share some of Owl’s weaknesses and can have a tendency to be restless, negligent, intolerant, proud, irresponsible, tactless, superficial and excessively optimistic.

Medicine: Owl’s medicine is the ability to seek out truth and justice in all
circumstances. This can be used in any ambiguous or unclear situation, to find the path to follow and to restore order.
Element: Fire
Stone: Obsidian
Color: Gold
Plant: Mistletoe

Energy of the season:
Owl’s month, which ends with the winter solstice, is that of hibernation and long nights. The sun is at its lowest in the sky and the nights are at their longest. This is a period for introspection, spiritual seeking, visions, plans and preparation for the future. Everything undertaken during this month will need a greater dose of enthusiasm, spontaneity, and optimism than at other times and will have to be on a sound ethical basis. Projects conceived now are often highly ambitious.

Energy of the moon:
Owl’s new moon started on Nov 16th and the full moon is on December 2nd 2009. The period from November 22nd until December 2nd is the ideal time for conceiving or launching projects. These will have a high rate of success, as long as they have a sound ethical foundation. After the full moon, from December 3rd until 15th December, time is best used for introspection and deep spiritual growth. This is a time for learning from the past and for setting new goals for the future. December 16th brings the new moon in Snow Goose; this is a time for putting new structures in place for the year to come, with much determination.

This month is particularly favorable for the following signs:

Owl:
If your sign is Owl the energy of this month is very favorable because it corresponds to the month and the moon of your birth. A new cycle is about to start in your life and this is the best time to start planting seeds. Use the sun’s energy to take stock and head off in a new direction.

Falcon/Salmon:
If your sign is Falcon or Salmon, this is a very lucky month for you, with lots of harmony because you are in your own fire element. A multitude of opportunities will open up for you in this period and this is the best time to give destiny a helping hand!

Raven/Otter:
For Raven and Otter people, this is a very dynamic month, full of energy which favors the conception and birth of new projects. You will feel new motivation and a renewal of your energy at this time.

Table of Spirit Animal Signs:

To find your spirit animal sign, just locate your birthday from the dates below, according to your place of birth. If you were born north of the equator (eg; USA, Canada, Europe), then look for your date of birth in the column headed “Northern Hemisphere.” If you were born south of the equator (eg; Australia, New Zealand, South Africa), then look for your date of birth in the column headed “Southern Hemisphere.”

Dung said authorized agencies could be instructed to add new regulations to Vietnamese laws during investigations of such cases.

But Hoang rejected accusations that hydroelectricity projects were to blame for flooding in the central region. “We should not put all the blame on hydropower projects,” he said, explaining that the three hardest-hit flooding districts in central province of Phu Yen were not in areas with hydroelectricity projects.

However, the minister admitted that supervision over hydroelectricity development in some areas had been lax.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Pham Khoi Nguyen said most projects were implemented with the ministry’s regulations, but he said some had encroached too much on forest land.

He said projects should prove their ability to offset deforestation before gaining state approval.

Answering questions from Thanh Hoa Province assemblyman Le Van Cuong about whether internal lobbying was causing some party officials to win promotions without meriting them, Minister of Home Affairs Tran Van Tuan said most cadre appointments by party committees are sound. “However, it is rumored that a number of people have lobbied influential figures to be appointed to the posts they desire.”

He said it would be necessary to follow appointment procedures set by the Party strictly. “We will intensify guidelines and inspections pertaining to cadre appointments.”

If you read newspapers from around Europe over the last few days, you found an almost unanimous “thumbs down” on the choices for first European President and the first Foreign Affairs Secretary (it will be clear later why I use “alternative” job titles).

It is quite funny: the consensus bridges the Euro-sceptics and the Euro-nationalists.

Personally, I believe that the Euro-sceptics do not realize that the train already left the station, and now the issue is only how fast and where it will go.

As for the Euro-nationalists: do you really believe that it is possible in the XXI century to rebuild a Charlemagne-style empire?

This is just a summary.

Delicious – Emily’s Holiday Season is the latest time management game from Game House St

Delicious – Emily’s Holiday Season is the latest time management game from Game House Studios. Much like the often-forgotten Miss Management, this game plays like a TV sitcom, complete with incidental music and cheesy sense of humor! The variety of gameplay is a welcome addition to the genre, and unlike most games that make the same attempt, it doesn’t come across as forced innovation.

The peaceful town of Snuggford is covered in a blanket of snow, and Emily has decided to stay here for a while with her family. The hotel is a bit on the dusty side, and as Emily fixes a vase her friend Francois knocked over with a sneeze, she finds herself with a new job. Customers come in, order food, and Emily must fetch it, deliver it, and take their cash. Sometimes the postman will arrive with a package which must be signed for, and the occasional hotel patron will appear to turn in or pick up his or her room key. Everything is handled with a simple click and go interface, and you can queue several tasks for Emily’s busy hands to accomplish.

Between the main tasks you’ll also have a few extra chores to do, such as dusting off the cobwebs, picking up a random item or two, or catching spiders. These aren’t necessary to complete the level, but if you’re going for an expert score, you’d better start dusting. After each level you’ll get a chance to spend some cash buying upgrades that make Emily’s job easier, customers happier, and the hotel more profitable.

Not content to keep things in one location, Emily’s Holiday Season takes place across several areas, including Winter Fair and a farm. The change of scenery does a surprising amount of good for the experience, and the soft, cozy visuals never cease to summon that holiday feeling we love so very much.

Analysis: You might be inclined to write off Delicious – Emily’s Holiday Season game as just another time management game. If you do, you’re missing out on a wonderful gaming experience. Casual to the core, this game is about mood, setting, storytelling, and variety. It doesn’t smack you across the face with a forced collection of different gameplay elements. Instead, you feel like each departure from the norm is a soft, fuzzy gift that you open and gratefully accept. It’s a difficult experience to convey, but if a time management game can make me speechless, you know there’s something special there.

Here’s another genre oddity: storytelling. Not only does Delicious – Emily’s Holiday Season buck tradition with its gameplay, but before and after each level you’ll be treated to a short scene that furthers the plot. Beyond that, you actually find yourself interested in what’s going on, as the characters are likeable, funny, and do some genuinely witty things over the course of the game.

Emily’s Holiday Season isn’t stressful, it isn’t particularly challenging, and the game doesn’t go out of its way to impress you with NEW!!! and FANTASTICAL!!! gimmicks at every turn. Instead, you just have a few bowls of cranberries to deliver, a couple of spiders to catch, and a handful of other miscellaneous tasks to complete. The gameplay and setting are so rich you can’t help but be drawn in, and the variety in both storytelling and locations keep you in for the long haul. Delicious – Emily’s Holiday Season is one of the few time management games you owe it to yourself to play.

of cause it is henry’s handball that helps france went into wc2009. Clearly, it was a dirty display, especially on a fifa governed match. But for henry, I dont think he should have not been so heavily criticized. On field, it was the responsibility of a dedicated player that induced him to handle the ball in such the shameful way to give advantage to his team. however, he has given apologies to audience after match, when calm down, and I appreciate this!

Thiery gentleman!

Some days a go , Obama and Ho dog had signed a press release to reflect the results both sides got on the Obama’s visit to China. I heard it says (among the others) both sides had common sights on taiwan and other related issues.

may “related issues” include some small countries around china? and this means from now on ( at least in Obama’s time), US will leave China do their way in expanding then swallowing up their neighbors? In 1972, Nixon had done with China an agreement like this, which led to the fast collapse of one nation and help pig’sland falling seriously in to China’s obit, losing all their control over every critical issues happening. Nixon can be sympathised, and can be forgiven, cause by that time, there were two politic systems parallelly existed, and he had to play an unfair game to my people to serve the world. Now: who forces Obama to do so?, nothing special. If yes, it is his position more and more unstable in US that make him do something unusual to keep US economy up. By selling pig’s land in to China, he is not only ruining one nation (unfamiliar with him, he might thought), but also the influence and interest of USA in this part of the world in very near future.

Obama, a fool, a coward!

Now also a kind of pig!

It was early in the morning and I was still in a daze after administering a big dose of melatonin to

It was early in the morning and I was still in a daze after administering a big dose of melatonin to myself as I could not seem to fall asleep. I was nervous about the whole situation I had gotten myself into, again; because of desperation for any kind of income, again. Still nervous as I woke up I made myself a cup of tea and wandered around the apartment, trying to calm myself down.

“Hey Lizzie, have you sent them your email yet; telling them to stuff it, in a polite way of course?” She told me she was going to and wrote a simple email stating she got another job and were coming in today with the stuff they had handed to us. “I’m thinking about doing that too,” I told her. I continued with, “they are both with the same company, but at the moment I don’t care if I jeopardise the other job. I can’t stand this crap any more.”
I have been fucked over by so many companies now I couldn’t care less about what would happen. What ever they say or do to me I have heard it or experienced it before. It’s like threatening a bare-knuckle fighter to give him a good old beating if he doesn’t behave well; the one serving the threats will be the one being served the bloody knuckle sandwich.

My phone called and my blood turned to ice for a short period of time. I knew why it was ringing, but I didn’t want to hear it. The email I had sent stated that I would talk with those responsible when I drop off my things, but assuming that sentence was a waste of seconds and pixels on the screen.
I stood my ground and told them my experience and my point of view of the whole situation. Several times I had to say I wouldn’t do the job at all as they haven’t stepped up to the plate, so I saw now reason for me stepping up to the plate.
I am not a strong believer, nor a supporter, in the ‘you should be glad to have a job’ attitude.

Again I was asked, “Can you explain why I can’t work this weekend?” I was completely honest and said that, “based on what I have experienced I personally can’t do the job. It doesn’t feel right and as they haven’t met my expectation I have to put my foot down and say no.” Luckily this person was professional, for a change, and was willing to listen to me. Obviously someone who actually cares about the company and wants to learn from previous mistakes, and found out how to avoid future experiences like this.

I think it is fair to say that how I handled this is not just because I have been dicked around so much; but also because I am a Nordic Viking with pride in myself. I remember just from a previous job that the Nordic team was giving our non-Nordic team “manager” a migraine as we had no remorse saying no to new policies that we disagreed with. When a Nordic person says no, it means no.

We were cruising down the road like crazy, swerving side to side in the lanes to avoid people who seem to have ordered their driver’s license from China; and trucks who didn’t know which lane to stay in. It was a miracle we arrived in one piece with our things we had been given. We could have sold the stuff, but we didn’t feel like getting in trouble for something as small like that. If it was literally a truck load we could consider it; or not.
We met with the person we had met the first time and that person was also professional and understanding towards our decision. Meeting people we actually understood, or at least didn’t judge us face-to-face, was very good and made the day a bit easier to handle; would be easier if it were less humid.

After cruising back home like we had stolen the car and skipped for paying for the full tank of gas I got two more pleasant phone calls. They just wanted to have a chat with me, the other team (the professional one), and to remind me to finish my personality test today.
The test was actually fun, but I really hope I will be able to see my result. Hopefully I won’t scare them to death; but they did ask me to be honest.

It was like a hugs rock had been lifted from my squashed body after telling them, in a diplomatic way, to get stuffed; and later get some more positive news to look forward to. To give you an idea how badly this affected me, the only thing I had for breakfast was that cup of tea. I was thirsty like guy that had been wandering in a desert with out water for two days and hungry like a grizzly that was blood thirsty.

Rest of the day we spent sweating and relaxing our great battle with “the-man”.
It kind of shed some light on why I tend to be turned down for certain entry-level jobs. I am not a 16-year-old who is looking for his first job. I am a thirty something guy who is living in his fourth country and worked in four three of them. Any corporate bullshit told to me I have heard it before; I have experienced most old tricks in the book, and not to mention I tend to know my rights a bit too good.
You can’t con a con.

Even if I don’t believe in superstitious fairytales I can’t help thinking that there is some kind of force not wanting me here in Australia. Maybe Targan is trying to tell me something, but I am too blind to see his words.
The night is old now and it needs some rest so it can harvest the crop tomorrow morning.

or: Let’s all be honest, you would rather find boas than bombs in a closet or: fun fact, gays can sm

or: Let’s all be honest, you would rather find boas than bombs in a closet

or: fun fact, gays can smell terrorists…but sadly they can’t tell us

Right now in Washington D.C., there are investigations in to the recruiting policies and monitoring of enlisted soldiers as to their religious affiliation in congruence with the mental stability of our soldiers. These hearings and investigative panels, of which there was one Thursday led by I-Joe Lieberman, are the direct result of the alleged actions at Fort Hood on Nov. 5, 2009, by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. Investigations are going to delve deep, eventually, and massive overhauls of privacy rights for soldiers and further screening in recruiting as well as monitoring while in the armed forces will come, doubt on this can be none. These findings of the panels will be arbitrary at best on an isolated incident that has been categorized as ‘terrorism’ before the blood even dried in Texas. What will come out of this fear is policies put in place to allow for the government to monitor and spy on it’s servicemen and women…but what if they find something they don’t want to? How does this new ideology that will come from the aftermath of this tragedy affect the long standing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy put in place under Bill Clinton? Reconciling our fear of attack and the consequences of full disclosure run contradictory leaving us in nothing less than a moral and legal stalemate.

I foresee that within six months from now panels will find that monitoring the personal e-mails, contacts, phone records, and personal interactions of its soldiers as necessary to the further security of this nation. It will be stipulated that extensive background checks will be called for, and recruiting standards are going to come under close scrutiny as to allow for enough soldiers, but not let in too many ‘questionable’ individuals. What will occur is that each soldier will have to agree to give up their civil liberties, which to some extent they already do, but they will now be under full discretion of the Patriot Act and every facet of their lives will be a matter of military record and available for review at all times. Psychological exams and test as well as regular counseling and drug testing will be mandatory. Before enlisting every soldier will be subject to military, and the finding of the hearings will also dictate an outside department, the FBI, to fully screen every single candidate. Becoming a solider will now become a moment of being all that you can be, and then letting the government see exactly what that is, intimately.

Will this be the right path? Time will tell, as will public outcry or protest from soldiers, but it will happen. The nation is terrified at the possibility of the very idea that some ‘terrorist’ could possibly infiltrate US military defenses, weapons stockpiles, et al, and as with 9/11 we will allow for the government to take any measure to assure our safety. No doubt that incidents against Muslim servicemen and women will go up, we probably won’t hear about it though. As a minority, especially of middle eastern decent, they will be profiled and most likely scrutinized further than anyone else; they will be unfairly profiled, this is America and that is our knee-jerk reaction. Sorry. What will follow will be a Muslim witch hunt that will both embarrass and weaken the strength of our branches of the military. The shifting eyes from soldier to soldier started on that day, don’t pretend they didn’t, and now we are weary of one another which leads to fear which leads to incidents. Indeed.

Well, how does this effect those in the military who are under a prime directive put forth by the Commander in Chief, the President of the United States? What happens to those men and women serving, or wanting to serve, in the military who have something to hide because it is the law? For those in the military who must keep their sexual orientation and relationships secret, don’t you think that with enough snooping for terrorists we might uncover a few gays? “Sir, Private Jones is not a terrorist, he’s a queen, sir.” What then? It kind of defeats the purpose of a law that stipulates that a serviceman will not initiate a conversation on the nature of a soldiers orientation, but what if an investigation does the leg work for him? Then we have a primary issue, once it is known the soldier must be discharged, right? That’s the law. Wait, but we weren’t looking for gays, we were looking for terrorists. Look the other way then, but wait, that soldier is a gay…back to the shifty eyes.

What these investigations present us with a need to take a good, long look in the mirror as a nation and decide where we draw the line. The end result of this incident, the longest standing victim besides those killed, injured, and effected, will be the policies of full disclosure and something I think will be called the ‘Servicemen Activities/Identity Transparency’ act, or “say-it” (SA/IT, get it?), the antithesis of the DADT policy of today. This will, of course, require that we have full disclosure from all troops on all subjects, but this might be hard without first ending the DADT policy of the last nearly 17 years. Installing this policy shift without repealing DADT will be one slippery slope indeed, you cannot have two orders that are so utterly contradictory; they are both compromised by the presence of the other. We, as a country cannot have a full investigatory policy of all servicemen and women without first coming to terms with what we may find and how to deal with it. Has anyone even given a thought as to how we would arrest, imprison, court martial, sentence, or just discharge, a serviceman or woman…if they were either gay or a terrorist? How the hell would either of those proceedings go? We need to, before putting in new policies, decide about the end game and what the consequences might be if we got our wish and started outing people.

It is clear that there is a fundamentally philosophical issue at hand, “How much do we want to know to feel safe?” We are shining the light of scrutiny in to the closets of our citizens, and some of those closets may be quite flamboyant; that is not a military issue boa. What will happen to our puritanical beliefs and ‘ignorance is bliss’ mentality when we find answers to questions we weren’t asking? We want safety, but we don’t want [to know about] queers; what the fuck do scared, bigoted lawmakers do!? Well, I think in the interest of national security after this singular isolated incident of ‘terrorism’ by and ‘islamic extremist’ that is not the fault of policy or of any specific layer of governance, that we need to DO something; or at least appear to do something. We will rape the civil rights of soldiers and sodomize personal privacy for the good of the nation. However, this cannot go on while DADT is in place. I think I speak for everyone that, in this matter of relative safety, we can’t have two standing orders that contradict themselves; “Say It” and “DADT” cannot both be followed, and in the interest of the people’s feelings of safety, we might want to get over ourselves and be open about…everything, so as to further secure this country. I can’t speak from experience, but I would rather the man in a foxhole next to me be a confirmed ‘gay’ than a suspected ‘terrorist’, but that’s just me.
