I saw the first butterfly of spring a few days ago and what ideal timing just as this dancing Butterfly Fairy is about to appear in the next issue, # 210, of Cross Stitch Collection. She is stitched on 28 HPI Jobelan ‘Daybreak’ from the fabulous Polstitches. A bright palette of fresh yellows and greens bring a lovely late spring morning to mind. The sparkling Mill Hill beads and Kreinik metallics seem to reflect the soft dew on a meadow filled with wildflowers. Share the delights of this most charming season with my Butterfly Fairy and all her fluttering friends! The supply list is now up on the Floss and Embellishments page.

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post. There is a lot happening here at the studio and as always there never seem to be enough hours in the day… Now that Cross Stitcher (UK) has previewed my new Celtic Fairy, I can post her here for you to see. She will be in the July issue #227. You’ll find the supply list on my Project Floss and Embellishments page at right. I took a bit of a twist on the traditional Celtic colors and in keeping with the summer theme of the magazine used a palette of bright pastels. There are oodles of beads and shimmering metallics throughout to add a touch of magic.

Hello to everyone!

I’ve just been given the go ahead to preview my Autumn Fairy for Cross Stitch Collection, so her she is. Didn’t they do an incredible job of styling the photo? I will be posting a supply list later this week for those of you that want to gather things ahead of time. To start though, I can tell you she is stitched on Polstitches Nature’s Grace 28 count hand dyed Jobelan evenweave. It is a gorgeous fabric reminiscent of soft morning light in a misty autumn forest. Thread details will be posted shortly.

Hi Everyone-

I’m just beginning catch up with everything in the studio. We’ve had some good news about my brother’s illness. His surgery went well this week and he is now recovering nicely. When the doctor told us he is, at the moment, cancer free, you can imagine how happy we were. To stay that way, he will begin treatments as soon as he is strong enough. From my heart, thank you everyone, for your wonderful healing thoughts and prayers through all of this. They have been a tremendous help to all of us!

Now I’d like to introduce you to another Fairy coming out in World of Cross Stitching. Here she is, a gentle fairy mother and her darling little cherub. This design was done for making up as a birth sampler but if you prefer to use it as a picture, try filling in the area where the names appear with some of the pretty little posies at her feet.

Fairy Mother & child form World of Cross Stitching #153 © Joan A. Elliott

Also, In Issue 152 of World of Cross Stitching, you may have already seen my Fairy Tale Alphabet. I did this design with little ones in mind. Use the letters to make up pretty name plates, door hangers, a sweet personalized pillow or whatever strikes your fancy. It might be fun to try your hand at using 14 count waste canvas to stitch a name on a sweatshirt or book bag too!
