Today coming home from Tai Kwon Doe DD7 says to me ‘mum, our tongues are like whales swimming in the ocean’ I look a little puzzled and started to try and work out where this bit of poetic analogy was going. In her next breath, ‘except they swim in our spit’. Magic moment lost.

As we do not have neighbors close by every year for Halloween we have a candy hunt. This year I was swamped with exams and Halloween completely snuck up on me so no costumes organized and no decs put up but the kids still had a good time which is the main thing. Next year I will be organized. I will, really I promise just someone send me a reminder about two weeks out!

DD4 has loved the chickens ever since we got them. In fact she is a bit of an animal whisper, loving all animals she sees or encounters. Most kids love animals but DD4, she has this 6th sense with animals, she has no fear of any of them and I have seen her often getting very upset because an animal that appears to be fine she believes to be hurt or feeling bad, and often she is right. Her favorite pet that we have is Chicken, yes DD4 named her when she was a little chick fresh from Zoo Doo. We used to keep Chicken, Mumma and Blackie in a box in the bathroom at night to keep them warm until they were big enough to survive on their own at night. Blackie died but the other two have survived and Mumma is called Mumma because she is our chicken that goes broody and raises our chicks. As our chickens free range DD4 is often outside playing with Chicken, I amazed at what this chicken will let DD4 do to her, I think it is because she knows that DD4 would never hurt her. DD4 is the only one who she will let pick her up and sometimes runs over to see her when she goes out to play. Watching them play is just adorable.
