Top is Black Jack, drawn on the 8th while eating a crepe for dinner in San Francisco. I found the OVAs available on YouTube, so I’ve been re-watching it. Damn, why is he so damn badass?

Bottom left is a random sketch I drew while on the ferry back home last week, inspired by this guy who was reading a book at the ferry terminal bookstore.

Bottom right is a collection of sketches I drew yesterday morning on the ferry to work. The man in the drawing was a dude sitting diagonally across from me. I think he’s Indian, but he had these gorgeous amber eyes with a really strong jawline, yet soft facial features. I wanted to take a photo to draw later on, but that’s really creepy to non-artist people, so I refrained myself.

I made my first polymer clay sculpture recently, and thought I’d share it with you. This is Ginko from my favorite anime, Mushishi. He is made from Fimo Soft clay, painted with acrylics and sealed with glossy Mod Podge. Click on the image to visit my DeviantArt page!

So I don’t know if any of my readers know this about me but i’m actually a big nerd. I mean I know i’m a biology major that just Screams nerd to everyone right? Well It gets worse…or better? I don’t know I guess it all just depends on who you talk to! Well, for me I love Anime and Manga. For those who don’t know what that is shame on you! For those that do and like it as well, you guys are awesome! It’s pretty much just Japanese styled animation and art. I really am in it more so for the art than anything, that’s pretty much how I judge what I watch or read. I know it’s bad but hey that’s just what I do! I mean they always tell you don’t judge a book by its cover but seriously if I can’t stand the artwork then it just wont go for me. I will get so annoyed that I just stop reading or watching it.

Back to what I was saying, the reason for my update is because I actually attended ALA this year which is Anime Los Angeles, a winter convention at the Marriott hotel in LA (The biggest convention in CA is Anime Expo located in LA as well. I will be attending…maybe!) Anyway, at the convention there is a place called Artist Alley in which a bunch of artists come together and set up tables to sell artworks that they have done. It’s really such an awesome place to be especially if you’re an artist. You make so many connections and meet a bunch of awesome people and as well as those who are…not …so awesome. We try to forget that they exist though! Anyway, at this convention I brought in two new prints from the last time I had a table at an Arist Alley (AM2 convention I try not to remember that one existed. Bad stories don’t ask!). One of which was a complete original and one which was based off Little Red Riding hood!

I had those two on top of the last…6 or 7 that I had previously! I was excited about these two because i’m really happy with them! Diamond Rose
Finished this yesterday, combination of Sai, Photoshop and Illustrator

Ponies to start. G4 Diamond Rose. I brought her recently and though she was quite pretty. According to her backcard she likes to ‘shop on holiday’ so maybe she’s enjoying a trip to Manehatten?

The new Hobbit film brought this character back to my mind. She was one I played in a rather short lived LOTR rp. Her name is Arabella or ‘Ella’ for short. She’s an adventerous young Hobbit and she wants to explore. She’s also a really good baker, cakes are her speciality.

Also, I have some avatars I owe people from a DA contest sketched so those should be up soon.
Still waiting to hear back from work, I really hope I’m not left hanging too long.

It was fun and it’s addicting.

Painting Assignment. Colour version of a kung fu panda illustration. Much happier with this one than the tonal study.

Right: Daughter of my sith warrior Rayphara and Malavai Quinn. No idea who she’s looking disapprovingly at, it seems to be her defauly expression. I think I had intended her to have scruffier hair but that didn’t quite work out. She’s pretty skilled in mechanics/robotics. She’s relativley well adjusted for being the child of a Sith (She takes more after her father at any rate) For some reason I imagine she gets told off for wearing her goggles, and for spending too much time on the Holo-net. (and if there was some sort of Star Wars equivillent to Tumblr she’d probably be on there)

Sanji from One Piece. Made for a friend for his birthday. It’s a little early, but I’m usually late with birthday presents.

Just a simple black and white piece. I wanted to do something with minimal details, but strong lines and impact.

Sorry for the crappy typography. I didn’t use a ruler and freehanded the lines. I had to adjust it a lot in Photoshop because it was bothering me so much. Still not quite right, but I kinda like the handdrawn quality to the type. Reminds me of Oda-sensei’s black and white illustrations with his weird Engrish.

Hope he likes it.

Final painting assignment for the semester. We had to choose a background or concept art from a movie/video game w/e and do 2 paintings of it, one tonal and one colour. I chose an illustration from kung fu panda. (approx. 6×7″)

Snivy is one of my favorites of the new generation. Look at what a smug son of a bitch he is! I love him!

The next batch the quality of the art will not be as great as the above drawings because they were drawn earlier in the year and 2011. Still though I like them.
