I really don’t mind writing about this here because クロス† チャネル is my bastion of revealing all my anime related urges, joys, sorrows and experiences. I’ve done it many times before talking about my fetishes and my love for traps. Not to mention some of those doujinshi reviews I’ve done in the past. So, why not just talk about this topic? Anyone remember the days during the 90s when hentai was actually pretty hard to find? Nowadays you can find it anywhere, and also free for that matter. But back in the day, you had all these shitty pay sites, which looked like they didn’t even have anything good to offer for that matter. I never subscribed to one so I never knew what kind of content they ever gave or if it was good. Their content always looked fan made and badly drawn. Anyone remember Dragon Moon Z or whatever the hell it was called? Horrible stuff.

Back then, my main source that I used was Anipike and way to go Yahoo image search. Anipike was a great place in the 90s because during the 90s everyone and anyone made their own website, but now it’s all about blogs. On Anipike they had a hentai directory, that you could just look up the various hentai sites that they had collected together. A lot of these places had the same kind of material though, and most were pay sites. Some weren’t bad though. I remember going to this one site. It had Dragon in it I think, but it was actually pretty neat and featured galleries to a bunch of different anime female characters. There was this other site which actually is still around although abandoned. Probably has tons of wandering viruses on it too I bet. I wonder how the hell it’s still around even today? Must be all the fucking ads on the front page. Who knows? Although, I liked this site because it actually hosts a lot of H CGs and back in the day this was like, “Oh my God, awesome pictures!”

There was this one french site I went to that hosted a lot of doujinshi, but the name I’ve forgotten. It had Manga in the title. It’s like a lot of these names just kind of gone into the seas of time. That place was a good site too since it was pretty diverse. Anyone remember that one H manga about those fairies or that what is it Alice in Sexland shit? The pinnacle of H manga during the 90s. It was actually pretty humorous. My favorite was probably Super Taboo. How the main character always ended up fighting with his reason and animal instincts. In the end, his urges always beat his reason and he’d fuck his sister, mom or both. Hilarious.

I remember E-Hentai before it became what it is today. It’s still pretty much the same but definitely improved from it’s late 90s or was it early 2000s version? Either way, I remember going there from time to time when it had .net and when the name was Euphoric Visions at one point.

Nowadays a person can just go to places like E-Hentai where doujinshi and manga are just uploaded by users, 4chan and other image boards like Danbooru host a variety of H and non-H images, and Hong Fire has you covered if you want H CGs. Not to mention fucking torrents and rapidshit everywhere. All if this is free albeit most of it is stolen. ::cough::

It’s awesome how things have just gotten easier to find or maybe I just never was looking in the right places. Back in the day, everyone was talking about OMG anal tentacles raping young girls whenever hentai was brought up, but I’d say shitting dick nipples is even a more powerful image of the weirdness of Japanese porn in today’s age.

What kinds of experiences did you have growing up experiencing H? I know a lot of people associated anime with H because sometimes I’d get, “Oh, you watch that tentacle rape stuff from Japan.” Whenever I’d mention anime to other people in school.

Well, I’m not sure whether to laugh my balls out after watching this particular promo. The negative elements that they used in this promo to fight against piracy  is so obvious – nudity, loli, yuri, sexual contents, bondage, cream pie, sucking ice-cream ala erotic style, pantsu shots, etc . Hace ya tiempo había escuchado de esta serie, pero no le hice mucho caso ya que creí que era puro fan service, sorprendentemente me dejo bastante facinado, por que a pesar de que su contenido es en esencia ecchi y fanservice, logra mantener una historia que por momentos roza la genialidad.
Aoki Daisuke es un chico de 23 años que entra a una escuela primaria como maestro, es un novato el cual apenas comienza, y no muy bien, ya que el primer día, al abrir la puerta del salón, encuentra aun grupo de niñas cambiándose de ropa, lo cual hace que piensen que es un pervertido, ahí mismo se encontrara con la chica que cambiara su vida de la forma mas drástica.
Kokonoe Rin es una niña de unos 9 años (tomando como referencia que va en 3er grado) que al conocer a su maestro decide acosarlo de una forma un tanto descarada, además de auto nombrarse su novia, ella junto con sus amigas Mimi Usa y Kuro Kagami le haran la vida de cuadritos a Aoki, es ahí en donde comienza a desenvolverse esta historia bastante hot xD.
Kodomo no Jikan es una serie de 12 capitulos mas 4 OVAs producida por Barcelona Studio, y adaptación del manga de Kaworu watashiya, la animación es bastante buena, y bueno, el tema central es controvercial, por que la edad de los personajes esta bastante desnivelada jeje, pero quisiera resaltar este punto, ya que aqui es donde la serie muestra parte de su genialidad, mostrándonos a personajes, que si bien, en este caso son niñas de 9 años, su comportamiento psicologico es bastante maduro, incluso poniendo aprueba la madurez de los adultos, las escenas son fuertes, y de alguna forma tocan fibras un tanto sensibles, no quiero hacer spoiler, pero en uno de los OVAs vemos una escena de Kokonoe con Mimi bastante erótica pero ala vez cruda y triste, y es que la carga emocional de los personajes esta tan bien definida, que el comportamiento de cada uno se justifica bastante bien en su forma de actuar, creí que no seria tan buena, pero en realidad sobrepaso mis espectativas, el manga aun no lo eh leido pero me daré un tiempesito a ver si puedo.

En conclusión Kodomo no Jikan nos trae una muy buena historia dentro de un genero que a veces parece ser pan con lo mismo, y no es que me queje pero una buena historia nunca esta de mas.

Od kiedy to Kakeru jest jej?

Trochę osobliwy odcinek, który przypomniał o pewnym traumatycznym dla wielu anime “School Days” brrrr… .

Zaczynamy od małej powtórki zakończenia poprzedniego odcinka i od obsesyjnych (i z leksza zwichrowanych) myśli Yuki o “jej” Kakeru (seriously myślałem o niej raczej w kategorii “ta biedna nieśmiała osóbka” a się okazuje, że to może być najbardziej psychotyczna osoba w serii). Bohaterowie (poza Yuką) postanawiają się rozdzielić by szukać wspomnianej nieobecnej – Takahisa i Kakeru mają zostać razem i szukać jej w szkole ponieważ są zmęczeni/zdewastowani. kiedy sami już szukają Yuki, Takahisa opowiada Kakeru o swoim uczuciu do Yukiko. Ta z kolei znajduje dziwnie zachowującą się Yukę. Yukiko rozmawia z Yuką i opowiada jej swoją historię (o tym jak zabijała by przeżyć w Drasvenii). Scenkę kończy zbliżenie na twarz Yuki mającej oczy psychopaty.

Patrzy na niego jakby powiedział, że to jego kocha xD

Dawno, dawno temu... no może nie tak dawno w Drasvenii...

O_o te oczy mnie przerażają

Po krótkiej przerwie widzimy jak jeden z czarnych rycerzy wraca do Lisette, która próbuje pod ich nieobecność wydostać się ze swojego więzienia i odnawia ściany kryształu przy okazji sprawiając jej ból. Chwilę później widzimy w końcu, że Shiori (naprawdę nieudana próba zamaskowania, że to ona) też bierze udział w czerwonej nocy i uśmierca Scholasticę (tak to coś co przetrwało śmierć czarnego rycerza w poprzednim odcinku). Kakeru i Takahisa zostają zaatakowani przez Invidię i maja kłopoty ze względu nas zmęczenie i rany. Zjawia się Misuzu ale zostaje wciągnięta w walkę z Superbią. Okazuje się, że to właśnie Superbia może być “osobą”, której szukała Misuzu – na co mogłoby wskazywać kilka rzeczy. Kiedy Kakeru i Takahisa są u kresu swoich sił zjawiają się Kukuri i Yukiko. Superbia się wycofuje. Yukiko, Misuzu, Kukuri, Takahisa i Kakeru zostają uwięzieni przez Invidię, która ma zamiar zabić ich wszystkich dokonując samozniszczenia (już jedna kropla jej krwi niezły wybuch). Z pomocą przychodzi Yuka, która… świecąc niczym różowa żarówka (oh come on wtf? można to było lepiej zrobić) neutralizuje moce wszystkich (w tym bohaterów) w okolicy, po czym z znowu z psychopatycznym wyrazem twarzy mdleje – mam wrażenie, że przysporzy to jeszcze sporo kłopotów bohaterom. Następnie mamy scenę z przeszłości z Liselotte (toż to Lisette…) przysięgającą zniszczyć świat z powodu śmierci Velado. Na koniec w “naszym” świecie do Kakeru w końcu przez przypadek dociera, że to Kukuri napisała wiadomość o zbudzeniu diabła, którą znalazł kilka odcinków temu w bibliotece (nie ma co bystry jest chłopak ). Man, is Devil Hunter Yohko ever an early-90s OVA. Softcore porn? Check. Gore? Check. Monsters? Check. Goofiness, not always intentional? Check.

FEEL THAT EARLY 90'S ANIMATION GOODNESS!

Whoa, whoa whoa. That doesn’t sound like your average anime that I get forced to watch! Well, there’s a reason for that. When your only source for anime is Hotline circa 1998, you’ve gotta take what you can get. There wasn’t exactly much in the realm of implied hand-holding back in the day when anime was primarily about violence ‘n’ titties.

Thematically, the show is all over the place. The first episode is basically softcore porn; and yes, obviously there are tentacles. In comparison, the later episodes tone it down to a stock footage transformation scene and some slightly torn clothing during battles. Episode 3 has this time travel thing going on. Episode 5 is mainly a Freaky Friday-esque comedy when grandma becomes a teenager again. And then there’s episode 4, which is a half-hour music video. Not figuratively, literally. Oh, and surprisingly, episode 6 is directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, although you probably wouldn’t have guessed that.

Yeah, it’s kind of ridiculous, but there is something kind of refreshing (or maybe kind of honest?) about those ol’ OVAs. Too many of them can make me slip into permanent irony mode, but one here and there can be a lot of fun. So in conclusion, this show is ACTION! SCI-FI! COMEDY! MARTIAL ARTS! STRAIGHT FROM JAPAN! TOTALLY UNEXPECTED! NOT KIDS’ STUFF!

Would I watch it even if I weren’t forced? I figured that I kinda really should watch this at some point.

Yeah, um… I’ve been watching one anime lately and it was obviously Seiken no Blacksmith. Over the past few weeks, this show has been really slow. Yeah sure we got all the new characters and stuff, but is that it? Also Cecily is kinda annoying with her “I will protect the town” crap. The rest of the characters are ok, I just didn’t expect Aria’s personality to be so nice. *LOL AMI KAWASHIMA LOOK-A-LIKE* I think the only reason why I’m watching this series is because I want Cecily and Luke to end up together. HURRDURRR…. But now after watching a few more episodes, I realized what this show is really about…. BOOB PLATES.

Please!!!! Make it stop! I don’t want every episode to have a boob joke! I just want some Cecily/Luke tsundere fluff! Man, some of the scenes in every episode almost puts me to sleep and make me think of some other things instead. That’s how desparate I am with this anime. Oh well, just might as well go with the flow no matter how awkward it is. I should be doing homework right now but procrastination got the best of me, again. Meh I’ll just keep watching it anyways.

There is also a special DVD episode 25 and there is a bath scene in it and they didnt want us to have any good times fapping ourselves, so they didnt include any ecchi scenes in it. I’m too lazy to dig out that particular episode and upload the images in here as there is nothing to see anyway. I just got the special DVD episode 26 (I wonder how many specials are they going to continue with?) and looks like they are good in pissing me off . If their TV series have uncensored scenes in the DVD release, why not for the specials?

W tym odcinku anime przypomina o swoich korzeniach “Eroge”, ale co tam w końcu i tak nic nie da się zobaczyć a ugruntowało to (sytuacja) dalszy wątek.

Kakeru cierpi z powodu efektów ubocznych korzystania z mocy oka bez znania zasady ich działania. Misuzu mówi, że nie mogli by mu pomóc w szpitalu i dodaje, że ona spróbuje go wyleczyć. Z racji, że będzie ona używać technik swojej rodziny prosi żeby nikt nie wchodził do pomieszczenia aby nie zakłócać przebiegu ceremonii. Na zewnątrz Do Yuki i Yukiko dołącza Kukuri. O ile rozumiem dlaczego Kakeru musiał być rozebrany do leczenia o tyle nie rozumiem dlaczego rano gdy się obudził była przy nim rozebrana Misuzu… mniejsza to w końcu anime i nie powinno się do tego przykładać miarki “realizm” – tym bardziej przy tagu “supernatural”. Tą co najmniej dwuznaczną scenę obserwuje również Yuka, która po przyniesieniu śniadania pod drzwi z ciekawości zajrzało do środka i wyciągnęła ewidentnie niewłaściwe wnioski. Kiedy wszyscy nadal mają normalne interakcje Yuka zachowuje się jak zazdrosna o zdradę dziewczyna (może coś przegapiłem ale nie sądzę żeby było coś wspomniane o ich oficjalnym byciu parą więc mówiąc krótko strzela fochy…). Shiori nadal przebywa z drugoplanowymi postaciami ukradkiem obserwując bohaterów. Historia zyskuje kolejny element układanki kiedy w trakcie rozmowy Misuzu i Yukiko o oku Aeona dowiadujemy się, że dawny król Drasvenii (Velado anyone?) został oszukany przez czarownicę (Lisette?) i miało to związek z wymienionym wyżej okiem.

Oznajmia, ostrzega czy grozi?

Kakeru udaje się złapać Yukę na dachu szkoły i stara się od niej dowiedzieć co się stało, że tak się zachowuje. Tymczasem Yukiko i Misuzu rozmawiają o tym, że czerwona noc zdaje się obejmować tylko ich miasto i powinni spróbować je opuścić bo nie brać w niej udziału. zjawia się Takahisa i szybko niszczy ten plan słowami, że miasto otacza ściana, która nie pozwoli im wyjść. Zjawia się higienistka i gdy chce on jej dać do zrozumienia żeby nie wtrącała się w jego sprawy ta zaciąga go na stronę “by z nim porozmawiać”. Yuka chce by Kakeru ja pocałował ale gdy on odmawia ona ucieka nie dając mu szansy wytłumaczenia dlaczego. Kilka sekund później zaczyna się czerwona noc. Takahisa staje do walki z czarnym rycerzem, który ma mu za złe przysmażenie jej twarzy. Kakeru, Kukuri, Misuzu i Yukiko oddzielenie od Yuki stają do walki z innym czarnym rycerzem. Misuzu próbuje wyciągnąć od niego jakieś informacje na temat czerwonej nocy i tego dlaczego nazywani są fragmentami ale bezskutecznie. Przez leczenie Kakeru nie jest ona w stanie walczyć pełnia sił a Kakeru przy każdej próbie użycia oka przeszywa potworny ból. Do walki z rycerzem stają Yukiko i Kukuri, która pokonuje rycerza swoją umiejętnością (Łańcuchy Abraxasa) – nie pokonuje go jednak ostatecznie gdyż jego fragmentowi udaje się uciec. Chwilę później zjawia się nieco poturbowany Takahisa z mocno uszkodzoną torebką (pingwinem) Yuki. CDN.

HEY, why don’t we forget about Ken for a bit and just focus on the REAL STARS here?

Perhaps some of you remember my inital thoughts on Seitokai no Ichizon in the 2009 Fall Anime Season Impressions post. Well I would like to say that this series is the complete opposite from what I thought it would end up being.

 At first I had written(thought) on my fall 2009 early impressions page that Seitokai no Ichizon would be a complete waste of time, and not worth watching in the slightest, I even gave it a -5% chance of watching rating(not the lowest on the list though…).

And after being convinced to watch the series, I decided to give it a go. despite the positive feedback I’d heard about the show I was still skeptical about and wasn’t expecting much at all. However, when I went to watch the first episode I was really shocked at how good it was.

And the OP isn’t bad either.

The girls were cute(Aka-chan, Mayufu) and sexy (Chizuru, and Minatsu), and the male lead of this awkward harem is Ken, who is not at all shy with his feelings toward any of the girls. Ken also seems to be obsessed with playing H games, and in some instances the games’ female characters are the actual girls in the “real world” of the anime, which I find pretty amusing considering he wants all of the girls in actuality, Ken wants “the perfect harem end”. But despite all of these awesome characters, the true star is Kurimu Sakurano/Aka-chan, but I honestly prefer Minatsu over Aka-chan, I think Aka is just a little too underdeveloped for my taste.

-AKA-CHAN-

Aka-chan~! the star of this show!(forget Ken!!!) While most of the charcaters that surround her seem to have an interest in particular aspects of Otaku culture it seems as though Aka-chan is into pretty much every bit of it. Aka-chan is the loli character of this anime in almost every way. She’s cute, acts like a kid, and is super super moe!!! It may be important to mention that Aka-chan apparently has a disorder(?).

-MINATSU- 

Prehaps my personal favorite of all the girls in this anime. She’s the tsundere of Ken’s haremwich probably gives me even more of a reason to love her! also the writers constantly hint at her possibly having a slight-crush on Ken. But unlike the other girls in Ken’s harem Minatsu is a bit of tomboy, which it kind shows in her behaviour and even her voice. Like I mentioned before with Aka, it seems as though everyone in the council has an interest in one particular bit of Otaku culture, for Minatsu it looks like she’s really into Light Novels (she mentions Index and Baka-test at one point too!)

-CHIZURU-

The sadist of the group. She can control pretty much anybody she wants, and seems as though because of this everyone fears her(only the one other character in episode 3). She’s also clearly the most well endowed of Ken’s harem, which isn’t there always the “model like in structure girl” in harem anime, she also seems to be into bondage-like activities as well… for Chizuru I can’t exactly tell what her interest is in Otaku culture, if anything it seems as though she’s into Yuri(girlXgirl)

-MAYUFU-

The yaoi fangirl of the group, but you’d probably never be able to tell just by looking at her, in about episode 4 she get’s Ken to make a Yaoi H game for her. And it seems as though she’s into normal RPGS as well, which was shown a bit in episode 3 when she was being interviewed with the member of the Jounalism club. She’s probably my least favorite of the group though…

So the characters certainly seem different from most of what I’ve seen in a long time. and I think it’ll be pretty fun to continue to watch these characters as the series movie along.

The anime as of now seems to parody many of the popular anime as of recently, such as Strike Witches, Gurren Lagann, Higurashi, Umineko(?), Haruhi Suzumiya, and many others.But prehaps the most famous of them all is the Strike Witches parody, which was actually co-animated by Studio GONZO, which I find rather amusing. The show also parodies H games which was mentioned above.

 Since I’ve mentioned the animation not too long ago, why don’t I just take a stab at it. When I first saw screen caps for the series I didn’t think much of the art or the animation. But once I got around to watching it, it seemed actually pretty good. I actually really like it. And if you take some time into looking at it closely you can see that in some shots there’s actually quite a bit of detail. The uniforms also may deserve some mention just because they seem so different compared to normal uniforms used in anime, the purple and black stripes, and the different/unique boots the female characters wear. It looked kind of wierd to me at first, but I quickly really liked them, they seem sort of punkish in style actually. And the designs of the female characters are very appealing, with the different hairstyle and all, Minatsu’s hair style stood out the most for me without a doubt. However Ken seems the least unique of all the characters, but considering the fact it was meant for males(such as myself) it really doesn’t come as a shock, and since it’s a harem with a predominantly female cast of characters your attention is meant to be directed towards them anyway, and it is generally easier to design a female anime character as opposed to a male one.

 Face it, there is no real story here, it’s just a story about an otaku-centric(?) student council and all of there wierd adventures(?) in the world of otaku-ism and anime/manga related material. Very simple, and I really like it. It seems as though so many series nowadays try to have some epic plot, and in the end fail at the attempt. However episodic series like this with no real story and know it has no story usually are some of the best of the new anime coming out. Examples: K-ON!/Lucky Star/Haruhi(some plot though)/Natsu no Arashi!/Hayate no Gotoku!! and many others are examples of some of the most succesful anime as of recently. And I think it’s because they don’t try to form some epic story, even though quite a bit of these series success has been due to the large amounts of moe. And I think like many of those series(with no real plots), this one will be successful/ should be.

The plot was simple, which was enough for me, but the novels the anime is based off of had gotten some negative feedback, which was the reason why I was planning to avoid it. But then someone convinced me that this was an excellent series.And about the novels, one of the things I thought was entertaining about the series is that they constantly make references to the novel or realize that there in an anime, which is based off of light novels, the characters are fully aware of the fact that they are in an anime. At one point in the first episode the characters even question why their novels got an anime, they also wonder about how the series will be named since each of the individual novels in the series are given different titles(much like the Haruhi novels in a way).

So~! overall this is a surprisingly good series. I certainly am glad I didn’t pass this one up, it would have been a missed jewel for sure, and it seems as though the show is getting more popular as time progresses, which could mean that DVD/BD sales will be up, which if they are we could get a second season(not confirmed). So I think tha pretty much any anime fan would love this series, it’s funny, cute, has a bit of sexy, and overall is just plain fun. While the anime isn’t over(about 6 more episodes left), I really hope it can maintain the energy it has for the past 6 or so episodes. And if this series manages to maintain this amount of amazing quality throughout the rest of it’s run, it may well end up being the anime of the season for, and possibly the comedy of the year. Now on my watch list!!!

Gabinet higienistki jest złym miejscem na czułości

Główny bohater w końcu budzi swoją i może skopać tyłki czarnym rycerzom… a może jednak nie?

Kakeru jak zwykle z powodu chęci chronienia Yuki trenuje walkę mieczem nawet w szkole. W pewnym momencie podbiega do niego Kaori i mówi, że coś stało się z Yuką. Chwilę później okazuje się, że zemdlała z powodu swojej anemii. Po kilku wydarzeniach w szkole kiedy Kakeru przychodzi po lekcjach by zabrać Yukę dowiadujemy się od higienistki, że jest ona matką Takahisy (nie biologiczną) oraz poznajemy czym zajmowała się wcześniej oraz jak go spotkała (to wyjaśnia również dlaczego to zawsze ona go opatruje). Pomimo, że Shiori nadal przesiaduje głównie z postaciami drugoplanowymi (Kaori i jej przyjaciel, którego imienia nie pamiętam) dane nam jest wyraźnie do zrozumienia, że odegra ona jakąś konkretną rolę w historii gdy pokazuje nam się, że ona też widzi czarny księżyc – co zresztą wykorzystała do zabawy z czarnym kotem na dachu szkoły. Kakeru i Yuka spotykają Misuzu, która mówi im, że osoba, o której wcześniej mówiła jest gotowa się ujawnić. W kolejnej scene wszyscy siedzą już spokojnie przy stole – trochę dziwnie, że Yuka i (zwłaszcza) Kakeru zaakaceptowali tak szybko i łatwo przypadkowe podobieństwo i imię Kukuri. Misuzu tłumaczy że Kukuri jest niema i dlatego mimo, że normalnie rozumie co się do niej mówi może odpowiadać jedynie dzięki pisaniu tego co chce przekazać w notatniku. Takahisa najwyraźniej nie wytrzymuje komedii i fanservisu zawartego w powitaniu Kukuri przez Yukiko w klubie i zdenerwowany wychodzi. Kiedy Yukiko chce za nim pobiegnąć by przekonać go do powrotu Kakeru mówi jej żeby dała mu spokój. Kiedy Takahisa próbuje wyjechać z miasta na motorze (ciekawe po kim go ma ?) odkrywa, że miasto otacza bariera uniemożliwiająca tylko jemu (zwierzęta przekraczają ją normalnie) opuszczenie miasta. Kiedy Yukiko opuszcza sale żeby poszukać Kukuri, (która gdzieś poszła) Kakeru prosi Misuzu o kolejną lekcję walki mieczem. Lekcja kończy się jednak bardzo szybko gdy Misuzu karze zatrzymać się atakującemu Kakeru i spojrzeć pod nogi. Leżała tam chusta na, której by się potknął i w prawdziwej walce przez to zginął. Tłumaczy mu ona, że przez swoją obsesyjną chęć chronienia Yuki nie skupia się na walce i zginie przez to. Kilka sekund później zaczyna się czerwona noc. Trójka zostaje napadnięta przez jednego z czarnych rycerzy, Misuzu zaczyna z nią (nim?) walkę i każe Kakeru uciekać z Yuką. Takahisa ratuje Yukiko w damskiej toalecie co daje trochę dziwny efekt ^^’. Kakeru (nadal mający jeden z mieczy Misuzu) i Yuka zostają napadnięci przez innego czarnego rycerza. Kakeru próbuje z nim walczyć ale nie ma szans. Kiedy rycerz rusza do Yuki żeby zabić ją na jego oczach by pokazać mu jego bezradność on jeszcze raz staje na drodze rycerza. Nagle obok nich spada jeden z mieczy Misuzu (prawdopodobnie wytrącony jej z ręki), Kakeru przypomina sobie jej słowa i postanawia zastosować się do jej rad. W chwili gdy udaje mu się uspokoić i skoncentrować na walce budzi się moc jego oka i (dzięki przewidzeniu przyszłości) udaje mu się uniknąć ciosu rycerza. Kakeru w końcu pojmuje moc swojego oka i zdejmuje z niego opaskę. Na widok jego oka Ira (imię rycerza – ma jakieś znaczenie niestety nie znam języka, który został użyty w tym anime) zaczyna się zastanawiać czy Kakeru zbudził swoją moc. Kiedy Kakeru zostaje zaatakowany bez problemu unika kolejnego ciosu i dzięki temu, że moc zawarta w oku została przeniesiona również na katanę przepoławia on rycerza kończąc jego istnienie. W obecności dwójki rycerzy Lisette z uśmiechem na twarzy mówi, że (Kakeru) się przebudził co z kolei budzi ich niepokój. Bohaterowie wracają do rzeczywistości a Kakeru pada na podłogę odczuwając ogromy ból (efekt uboczny mocy oka?). Kiedy jest nieprzytomny śni mu się Velado, poprzedni właściciel “Oka Aeona” ostrzegający go przed jego mocą, która da mu wszystko a potem to odbierze… . CDN.

Typically, in the great tug-of-war over which is most important to a comic — great art or great writing — I tend to think that writing wins out most of the time. A good narrative will get me through a webcomic any day, while nice art satisfies only but for a moment. But, you know, there’s a chance I’m looking at this debate all wrong. What if a lot of webcomic artists are just poor storytellers?

It’s been said that a picture is of equivalent value to about 1,000 words. Unfortunately, most artists only go up to about 200. I’m a big fan of Jim Lee, especially since, back in the 90’s, his art on X-Men was one of the things that got me hooked into comics. But, you know, these days when I look at one of his comics the only words that pop into my mind are “boy, that girl sure has a nice rack.” That’s only eight words Jim.

On the other hand, there’s Frank Quitely. Take a look at Grant Morrison work independent of him (i.e., Seven Soldiers, Batman RIP, Batman & Robin #4-6). Sure, the stories are high concept, but in the end, they come off as rather pedestrian. But pair Morrison up with Quitely and the combination is transcendent (All Star Superman, Batman & Robin, New X-Men). Morrison’s plotting was only, at most, half of the story. The other half was the fantastic storytelling prowess of Frank Quitely. His illustrations alone spoke volumes about emotion, wonder, and action. Batman & Robin #2 opened with Dick Grayson slumped over while sitting on the stairs in his Batsuit, ill-fitted and hardly as intimidating as when Bruce wore it, while Alfred looked on sadly. That single panel was easily the 1,000 word variety… maybe more.

This is probably why I’ve really enjoyed The Meek, written and illustrated by Der-Shing Helmer. The art isn’t just pretty. It’s half the storytelling.

So who is this Der-Shing Helmer, anyway? DeviantArt enthusiasts and readers of this blog may know him better as “alexds1.” According to his site, Mr. Helmer is a biologist who, in the past, has conducted specialized research on lizards, snakes, and small mammals. So yes … he’s probably one of those guys who’ll tell you, as he offers a scaly, wriggling creature for you to pet, “Human fear of snakes are so irrational. Snakes are our friends! OUR FRIENDS!” while, in the meantime, you’re crouching in the corner hoping this lizard lover returns to the the zoo where he belongs. He also has the good and noble goal to one day be a high school teacher, which means that some day students are going to tell their buddies that their teacher totally draws naked ladies.

Helmer is also some sort of Avatar: The Last Airbender superfan. He has a popular gallery on DeviantArt devoted to Avatar fan art and fan comics. All I know about Avatar, by the way, is what I’ve seen in the trailer for the M. Night Shamaylan movie: young kid with an arrow tattoo on his forehead has a power that many want to possess. Still, armed with that meager piece of trivia you can detect that Helmer’s Avatar love, as well as his interest in biology, leave strong fingerprints all over The Meek.

The comic opens in a heavily wooded forest populated by friendly woodland critters straight out of Snow White. One such critter is a spunky, young human girl named Angora, whose hair is a lovely shade of algae. Also, she runs around totally naked, which leads me to conclude that she is probably not “the meek” of the title.

Angora is running away from a group of shirtless and presumably sweaty men. They’re pursuing her for pretty much the same reason men would chase around a naked woman in the real world. We learn that these guys have not seen a flesh and blood woman for some time, so this looks to be very bad news for Angora (who is such an innocent she’s not quite sure what these guys are after). She scampers up a tree, which is soon felled by the sheer power of horniness.

Chapter 1, by the way, has an incredibly high nudity-to-panel ratio. “My word,” you say, “aren’t your Puritanical senses offended by this brazenly wanton display of female flesh?” I’m pleased to say that the nudity in The Meek didn’t bother me all that much. It isn’t sleazy, and it isn’t just a cheap grab to draw in male readers. (Though if that’s what you were looking for … well, Angora is pretty cute.)

Angora strikes me as more natural than sexual. She is not so different than the animals she talks to. Like someone from a remote jungle village untouched by civilization, she’s neither ashamed of her nudity nor aware why it makes people uncomfortable. She sleeps under the stars, shuns society, and hangs out in trees — the human embodiment of nature.

Angora finds an unlikely and reluctant rescuer in an alcohol connoisseur named Pinter. He beats away her attackers not over any sense of chivalry, but rather out of anger that the louts have cause him to lose a jar of booze. Later, Angora sneaks into his tent, and she discovers two things: Pinter’s got a bit of a memory loss problem, and the guy carries around a nice set of maps. Both qualities, Angora realizes, may be key in completing her mission. More on that later. Angora asks for Pinter’s help. He finds her a bit of a nuisance, and he tries everything in his power to be rid of her. However, destiny really is a fickle bitch, and he ends up accompanying her on her adventure anyway.

Fortunately, Angora’s not entirely defenseless. Being the human embodiment of nature has its perks. Sometimes, it means you get endowed with plant-based powers. Finally pushed to her limit, Angora goes all Poison Ivy on her attackers, which forces Pinter to reevaluate his original opinion of her. The annoying brat is suddenly a frightening force of retribution.

So what is Angora’s mission, exactly? Our green-haired lass was enlisted by her grandfather, a giant mudpuppy, to find “the center.” I should reiterate that Angora is human, which means that family reunions were probably really awkward. “Good heavens, look at this girl!” her aunts would likely fuss. “Where are her bushy external gills? How is she to attract a good salamander husband in such a state?”

Grandpa is the sort of character who tosses out mystic mumbo jumbo without explaining them, so you can bet that he doesn’t tell Angora what “the center” is. He also gives her an equally vague list of people she’s likely to meet on her adventures. (A “man who hates in the name of love”? That’s, like, every man, right?) Anyway, Grandfather’s brother has a powerful urge to destroy mankind. Why? The ways of the aquatic salamander are truly a mystery to man. Grandfather though is a fan of Man, and he gets severely wounded while attempting to stop his brother’s rampage. It’s now up to Angora to save the world … though a clear, detailed list of action items would’ve help out a lot, Grandfather, you senile old coot.

The Meek changes tone significantly with Chapter 2, which opens with a bickering husband and wife. The man is Emperor Luca Sadar Duvida Gulo. Given his stature and his aristocratic attitude, I have to conclude that he isn’t “the meek” of the title, either. He’s also a bit of a chauvinist, sneering disdainfully at the thought of having to meet female ambassadors.

Der-shing Helmer’s artistic style seems to be influenced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko’s work on the Avatar cartoon. (I personally think that The Meek also bears a strong resemblance to Jeff Smith’s Bone, but I tend to think a lot of things look like Jeff Smith’s Bone.) The artwork has the beauty and detail of a manga-style comic. At the same time, Helmer slightly exaggerates facial expressions and poses, giving The Meek an animated and cartoony feel. The style is highly versatile and highly effective. It doesn’t matter if The Meek calls for a humorous moment, a serious moment, or a poignant moment. Helmer delivers.

To be honest, though, all this gushing is pretty useless. Look at the sample images I included in this review. The art speaks for itself, dontcha think?

I personally was very impressed in how Helmer’s art carried the bulk of the storytelling duties, notably during the changeover from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2. Consider how, previously, we’d been treated to open outdoor spaces. The shift to enclosed areas is a bit claustrophobic. The emperor’s rooms aren’t small; the drawing room where Luca meets the Ambassadors is rather cavernous. Yet how does this compare to open skies and woods that seem infinite in all directions? That’s not the only contrast. Angora, free from the restrictions of clothing, can run around free from shame and anxiety. The prestigious people of high political power, on the other hand, are endlessly frustrated by their own clothes.

There’s something refreshingly effortless about the comic’s characterizations, especially when it comes to Angora. I imagine free-spirited characters are among the most difficult to write for. A lot of “free spirits” reduce nonconformism to a laundry list of character traits we’ve all seen before, mainly in romcoms and anime. Angora’s different. I credit a lot of that to how Helmer’s willing to slow the story down at points to indulge in cute little moments like when she ponders a bottle of alcohol.

Even Emperor Luca, who easily could’ve been just another frigid and severe monarch, gets a strong boost of personality from his face alone. As he speaks condescendingly to the ambassadors, his face contorts into a triumphant sneer. This is the face of a man whose been through a lot, who’s won, and who’s clearly enjoying the role reversal where he’s now the one dishing the punishment.

The Meek is only about 50 pages long, though Helmer’s site mentions that more than 350 pages have already been roughed out. It’s quite reassuring that a project this ambitious has a plan laid out, and the current story about Emperor Luca and his wife will eventually cross paths with Angora and Pinter. However, even at this early stage, The Meek is well worth your time, if only to let the fantastic artwork transport you to another world. C’mon, don’t be meek.

Final Grade: 5 stars (out of 5).

Hay series de Manga – Animes que tardan años en colocarse en el gusto de los fans, incluso muchas mueren en el intento debido a que su trama no es aceptada y el concepto se desecha para posteriormente reeditarse o planearse una nueva serie. Pero esto no aplica si el fanservice esta en su maximo punto . . . y claro estoy hablando de Ikkitousen.

Esta serie a sido obejto de una de las campañas mas fuertes de marketing, ya que practicamente no hay una categoria en la cual no se haya impreso el rostro de estas chicas peleadoras. Ya sea el manga, el anime, las almodas, los mousepads, lapices, tarjetas, H-H . . . todo se a incluido y los videojuegos no son la excepción. Hace unos meses se lanzo el juego para PSP Ikkitousen Great Guardians y ahora . . .

. . .  las imagenes que vieron pertenecen a Ikkitousen Xross Impact nuevamente para el PSP. QUe practicamente es una secuela, y como siempre tendra nuevos extras, y uno basico es el hecho de que los personajes al igual que en el anime o el manga, iran perdiendo con cada batalla su partes de su ropa. Este es un clasico beat´em up (acaba con todos) y lo unico que hay que decir, es que si eres fan pues el juego no te decepcionara. Su lanzamiento en Japón es en  la primavera de 2010.
