While designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Rucci may have front row tickets to this year’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) graduate show in New York, aspiring fashionistas can also get involved with the show this year, as for the first time ever, it will be available for viewing online.

FIT’s celebrated program has produced names such as Michael Kors, Reem Acra and Nanette Lepore. It’s graduate show “The Future of Fashion,” is one of the most anticipated fashion shows of the year showcasing the talent of up and coming designers.

Nowadays, it is common for designers to share their runway shows via online live streaming. Designers such as Diane von Furstenberg and Carolina Herrera have been doing this for quite some time, so it is only logical that FIT is following in their footsteps.

You can catch “The Future of Fashion” Wednesday May 2 at 7:30 pm (Eastern Time) via www.fitnyc.edu/futureoffashion. You can also get familiar with some of the designers and final preperations taking place on student blogs. A list of links to these sites can be found on http://www.fitnyc.edu/12061.asp.

Will you be tuning in? I know I will, and I can’t wait to see what these aspiring designers have in store!

PHOTO ABOVE TAKEN FROM STYLE FRIZZ BLOG

Recently, apps have become the faster and convenient way of surfing the Internet and social networking. In an industry constantly in search of “the next hot thing,” it is no surprise that this technological trend has grazed the world of fashion.

Today marks the launch of Trendabl, an Instagram like app for fashion, in which users can upload, tag and share images.

Users can also follow fashion forward celebrity members and designers such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Michael Kors and Diane von Furstenberg, just to name a few.

Much like Facebook and Twitter, users can repost each other’s images; comment on images or like them. A function which showcases the app’s most popular images is also offered.

The launch of Trendabl supports this idea of a style sharing community, which allows users to receive feedback on their choices as well as gain inspiration from various fashionistas. It brings fashion from the runway to the tip of your fingers, making it accessible to all users.

The Trendabl app is free and currently available on iTunes.

PHOTO: THE MARNI COLLECTION TAKEN FROM THE H&M WEBSITE

Among the various clothing stores who have incorporated famous lines for the general public, H&M is no stranger to being blessed with contributions from well-known designers across the globe. In more recent news, it is well known that Marni for H&M, a highly anticipated collection, is just around the corner from emerging onto the market. And with much anticipation comes much caution.

After teaming up with designers such as Jimmy Choo in the past, last year’s Versace for H&M collection caused quite chaos, with reported brawls in various store locations, specifically in China. This time around however, H&M has taken further steps to improve shopping and avoid the foreseen madness that is to come of the new Marni line, predicted to be in high demand.

The H&M brand has announced a set of shopping rules, limiting activity within stores, as well as online. Of course, the rules vary on location. For example, locations in the United States will allow customers approximately 15 minutes within the store along with a queue system-organizing customers into specific groups for each time frame, with the use of wristbands. While the United Kingdom will also operate the same system, customers are only allotted 10 minutes within the store, and in France an entirely different system of operation will be used to keep order.

Specific Rules for your particular region can be found on the H&M website. The collection will hit roughly 260 stores on March 8, 2012.
