Dresses, accessoires and personal letters from Audrey Hepburn dating from the early Fifties to the late Sixties are soon for sale. Some of the Hepburns most famous and beautiful dresses will be auctioned next week in London with 50 per cent of the proceeds going to The Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund and Unicef. Well ladies, go ahead!

The auction includes a wedding dress Audrey never wore (she called her marriage to James Hanson off, weeks before the planned weddingdate, poor man…). The lucky lady who will have this piece must be  ’the most beautiful, poor Italian girl you can find – someone who couldn’t ever afford a dress like mine‘, said Audrey in her early days.

Well, who will pop the question to one of us?!? We’ll say ‘yes, I do’. Honestly!

Stone cold sober, New York and her latest single Do You Want The Truth or Something Beautiful (same title as her album) are songs I love, and could listen to 24 hours a day. I’m talking about Paloma Faith . She’s an English singer and actress, was born in London and her voice got compared with Etta James’ on Jools Holland. But that’s not all, she’s also becoming a favorite in the world of fashion and is (in my opinion) a real fashion icon already! Her style is influenced by the 50’s and most of the time she can be seen wearing vintage clothing. She’s in one word unique, her look and her voice. She’s half English and half spanish, which explains her spanish name: Paloma which means dove. This also explains the dove tattoo on her shoulder (which looks amazing in the New York music video) and the two doves on her album cover.

Her album: ‘Do you want the truth or something beautiful?’ Has been in the stores for a while, but if you don’t have it already: Don’t hesitate and buy your own!

Having announced a partnership with Visvim earlier this year, Italian down company Moncler continues their good form having just released details of another collaboration, this time with Pharrell Williams and his textile company, Bionic.  Using his company’s technology, which recycles bottles and turns it in to yarns and fabric, Pharrell has designed a reversible puffer vest – inspired by a traditional bullet-proof vest.  The lining of the jacket has a print designed by Japanese artist, Keita Sugiura, who is known for his nature inspired creations.

The Visvim and Pharrell collaborations will be part of a new collection from the Italian based company called, Moncler V.  This collection will have the company work on numerous projects with various artists around the world.  Stockist information and release dates to come.

Direi che il suo stile parla chiaro, è un misto di tutto, a lei non interessa affatto come dovrebbero essere abbinate le cose, lei abbina le all star col vestito elegante, i tacchi con vestiti semplici, e rende la scarpa da uomo un must have per tutte le ragazze. è assolutamente impareggiabile!

Una settimana fa un’amica mi consigliò di entrare su Lookbook e io da quel momento ho iniziato a frugare tra le varie foto. A un certo punto però ho trovato Lei. Chiara Ferragni. Me ne sono “innamorata”. Ha un modo di vestire tutto suo, sempre diverso, mescola iniseme indumenti di ogni genere, e ha delle borse semplicemente magnifiche… Chanel, Kelly, Balenciaga e così via. Senza parlare di scarpe, accesori e vestiti vari. è una vera icona e da quel giorno non faccio che “seguirla” sul suo blog e su Lookbook.

Marc Jacobs. He just lost me again. Spring 2009 was the first time in years that I stop and thought “Wow. Want. Must Have.” about Marc Jacobs’ namesake line. Mary Poppins hats, pencil skirts and cinched waists galore—all in eccentric printed patterns. It was a fluke, I thought. But then things just got better with Fall 2009. The cardigans, gothy dresses, bright florescent colors and black, everywhere black. It was heaven on the runway. So it was with high hopes that I viewed his Spring 2010 line.

Wait, what? 1990 called, Madonna wants her bra back. The high collars I can dig. Outrageous, exaggerated collars were all the rave during the Fall 2009 fashion weeks.  I have to say I love the way they look. But underwear as outerwear? Didn’t we already see this?

It led me to wonder how or why Marc Jacobs is considered a fashion icon, a directional and an innovative designer when his collections are completely hit or miss. Do you remember the baggy, dull clothes from Fall 2008? In his own words, “I really wasn’t very inspired this season. I just live my life.” I thought about that while flipping through some previous collections.

Then it came to me, like a Marc Jacobs bag on a platter. Jacobs is an icon because he truly gets inspired, he dares to go places that make us gasp in delight or leave us with a perplexed look of why? He’s not an Alexander McQueen- avant garde 24/7 pushing the extremes. No, he’s a man with a (consumer-orientated) vision. Even in this current collection he is taking a part of fashion history, breaking it down, tearing it apart and putting it back together.

Take, for example his off-the-shoulder blouse with burmudas and matching fanny-pack (see below left). Just saying that word makes me cringe. But Jacobs was able to take a hideous tourist-only accessory and make it attractive and wearable. That’s innovative.

The entire collection is splattered with ruffles, from collars to pant side seams; it’s an inspiration that seems to stem from doll clothes. While the first half dozen or so don’t look remotely everyday wearable, the ruffles mellow until we get a perfect balance of deconstruction and dollhouse in the flowy beige number. (see below right.)

So while Jacobs doesn’t always make sense and while his collection sometimes feel lackluster. He seems to have a 2/1 ratio of “love it”/”hate it” collections. But when he gets on an inspiration spree we’re always set for a season that will wow. I think this season is his down one. I don’t completely hate it, just don’t love or fully understand. But that’s the thing about visionaries: You don’t always get where they are coming from or going until after they do.

olivia palermo was a nonentity for me up until a quick catch up with new season the city. she was just some spoilt brat richkid and wannabe actress/designer/stylist/gal about town from the first season. she spiced things up initially with her out-and-out bitchiness, (anyone remember her telling whitney not to bring her personal problems to work? not professional apparently) but other than that she just simpered and whimpered in the corner of the TV somewhere. well saddle me up and call me daisy, she is on fire* this season. she has the layered look down to a fine art, seriously knows how to work a pair of shorts and she ‘ain’t accessories editor at elle girl for ‘nuthin. well actually,  i’m sure she was for a huge price negotiated by her agent and the marketing people at MTV and elle girl.  but that is besides the point, she knows bling, she knows discreet, she knows complementary, she knows statement, she knows fun, she knows irony – the whole spectrum of jewelery wearing, she knows it*.  although the hair is beautiful, it is a little too sleek and glossy and loreal for me (read: extensions) but she does always look perfectly coiffed and i respect that. and her shoes -  one step ahead of the gang at all times…

*on fire = jennie expression; not to be confused with ‘fierce’ – tyra banks meaningless answer/question to everything in life.

* im sure some of you were unaware of the various factors behind jewelery display but they are many and varied. there is an art, a psychology and a lightness of touch to it.

Alexa chung

British girls always seem to have great style. Take Alexa Chung,  TV host, model, DJ,  is listed in my new favorite  British “It girl” parallel to Kate Moss and Agyness Deyn. She not only gets the model look, effortless cool style, but also has a bubbly personality which made get her own  MTV show. Alexa makes fashion look chic yet easy and comfortable and never seems to try too hard.  She mixes and matches low fashion like Topshop, H&M with high fashion like Chanel, Proenza, with a touch of vintage. She has a knack of knowing how to dress unique but not over the top.  I  noticed when I collected Chung’s photos that she  still has all the essential classics such as trench coat, timeless patterns and shapes  like polka dots, stars  and strips. She  really makes fashion easy and approachable.  As she said, “I like serious fashion for girls who don’t take fashion too seriously.”

Greetings to you in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ; I became a fan of Pastor Chris through your blog and I have listened to him ever since. You know, apart from the inspiration and spiritual impartation I continually receive, I have noticed something extraordinary – this might sound “carnal” but, I’ll go ahead and say it anyway, I am captivated by his dress sense; he is a style icon.

In every sense of the word, Pastor Chris has definitely got style and much more. It’s a mélange of charisma and deity. More than his dress sense, it’s his presentation of divine truth, the poise and the calm that he exhibits, that makes him so much more stylish. There’s a lot of power in the way he carries himself and the message he preaches. His wavy hair adds to his personality, His strong, traditional suits, bold power ties, subtle pocket squares and weighty cuff links and his well maintained body makes him very smart.

His handsome look with his message of grace, his charisma, his message, and his humility, all add up to his cool style icon image. His charm and personality is built from inside on what he wears, and it is a part of the whole package, his entire image is directed on perfection and super excellence. Pastor Chris’ personal style is worthy of acknowledgment and emulation. He is definitely setting the right tone as a fashion icon.

And before you wonder if I’ve gone “off my rockers”, the scriptures suggest to me that our Lord Jesus was a style icon in the days of his earthly ministry. Remember that on the day of his crucifixion, Roman soldiers who I believe must have been well paid at their time because they were government officials divided Jesus clothes amongst themselves and cast lots for his coat. They must have been good quality – designer wears.
