Som bekendt har vi desværre måtte flytte arrangementet med Don Ø fra den 29. oktober til den 23. november.

Det foregår samme sted, nemlig det store auditorium på Julius Thomsens Plads og stadig kl. 15 til 17. Tilmeldingen sker også stadig via www.nbbc.dk, hvor mange allerede har tilmeldt sig. Vi glæder os til at se mange af jer i selskab med en af dansk erhvervslivs store direktører.

Og nu er jeg ikke den store fodboldekspert – men der er da noget galt på nedenstående billede, er der ikke?

  Rosene i København ser ut til å tåle høsten godt. De var jo bare smukke og skønne  der de sto i det danske efterårsvejret…  3 grader og regn fredag forandret seg til sol og 8 grader lørdag og søndag. Vinden var sur og gjennomtrengende!  Regndråpene gjorde rosen godt.

            Og det var flere knopper som ventet på å springe ut…. Vil også gi disse rosene til Rosenborg som fikk sine gull – medaljer på søndag! Hva er vel bedre enn å gi (FC) København – roser til Rosenborg?? Gleder meg til Champions League og høsten 2010 allerede!

The reigning champion visits Aab at the Energi Nord Arena in highly intensive match for top placing in the SAS Liga.

The Danish league has had a bit of twist and turn in the last couple of rounds. The reigning champion, FCK, is finding life tough in the domestic league simply because of their commitments in Europe and the squad needing to cope with injuries. They will be traveling to North of Jutland to face 2^nd place, Aab, at the Energi Nord Arena.

Aab are slowly finding their form. After getting disposed in the UEFA Europa league tournament, Aab have gone through a bit of change and got more focused in the domestic league. They went on an 8 consecutive winning spree until last weekend when Silkeborg surprising won 1-0 at Energi Nord Arena. They responded by thrashing Thisted F.C 3-0 in the Ekstra Bladet Cup in the midweek which sets up nicely for the top match against FCK. Former FCK player, Rasmus Wurtz will serve his one match suspension against FCK.  Ronnie Schwartz and Jakob Ahlmann are still injured.

F.C. København is in need for points as they are chasing the league leader, Esbjerg FC, by five points. The reigning champion won 2-1 in their midweek match in the Ekstra Bladet Cup against Helsingor. Coach Stale Solsbakken is trying to get his team back in shape losing his goal keeper, Jesper Christiansen, Mathias Zanka Jorgensen and Hjalte Nørregaard to injuries. The Norwegian coach knows that they have got their confidence back after winning last weekend 3-0 at home against Randers. They will need to increase the tempo of their play in order to put pressure on their opponents to make mistakes.

F.C. København knows that the Energi Nord Arena is no hunting ground for them. They lost 3-2 the last time they met in North of Jutland. It was back in 2006 that FCK tasted victory against Aab at the Energi Nord Arena. It will be a tight affair and a draw should not be a big disappointment for both teams so have a look at Ladbrokes as they are offering odds 3.30 for a draw.

For første gang i en måned kunne FC Københavns spillere i går aftes forlade banen efter en sejr, men hvis ikke modstanderen havde været Superligaens absolutte bundprop ville sejrstørken sandsynligvis være fortsat indtil onsdagens pokalkamp mod Elite 3000 i Helsingør. Randers FC var ganske enkelt ude af stand til på noget tidspunkt at true et ellers ikke særligt velspillende hjemmehold, og Nathan Coes målmandsdrop efter 24 minutters spil er en udmærket illustration af bundholdets øjeblikkelige problemer. Medmindre cheferne på Essex Park hurtigt foretager en række radikale ændringer bliver der ikke kronjysk Superliga-deltagelse i næste sæson.

Efter FC Københavns nedtur på Cypern kræver det i mine øjne et dansk mesterskab og mindst en kvartfinaleplads i Europa League for at redde indeværende sæson. Så kan formand og træner tale nok så meget om europæisk gruppespil for fjerde år i træk – faktum er at der er en verden til forskel mellem UEFAs to europæiske fodboldturneringer. Med udebanenederlaget til rumænske CFR Cluj in mente forekommer endnu en international skuffelse sandsynlig. FC København har hidtil i denne sæson ikke levet op til hverken klubbens egne eller tilhængernes forventninger – det halter spillemæssigt, resultatmæssigt og økonomisk.

Gårsdagens 90 minutter kan uden besvær koges ned til tre korte bullet points: Et målmandsdrop i første halvleg, et drømmemål af Pospech i anden halvleg og endelig dommerens uforklarlige 7 minutters overtid, der resulterede i endnu en scoring til københavnerne. Derudover var der i meget store dele af kampen tale om en ulidelig ørkenvandring og hjemmeholdets efterhånden velkendte henholdende spillestil faldt tydeligvis ikke i de 17.400 tilskueres smag. Det var i øvrigt symptomatisk at FC Københavns tre mål blev scoret af en forsvarsspiller og en indskifter; på intet tidspunkt virkede angriberne Santin eller N’Doye specielt interesserede i at deltage i fodboldkampen og Thomas Kristensen på midtbanen leverede endnu en skuffende indsats i en efterhånden lang række. Jeg har i øjeblikket meget svært ved at se det fornuftige i klubbens beslutning om at udleje Morten Nordstrand til FC Groningen.

Urgent Alchemy: The Art of Claudia Drake

Has anyone kept their gym membership booklet? It seems that I’ve lost mine, and I’d like to check something out under the “Being a Member Guidelines”. Does it mention anywhere under there that all men must grunt and throw weights while all women are expected to wear full make up? Because if it doesn’t, WHAT THE F*CK ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING?!

I try to stay fit in order to seduce countless men in my day-to-day life (check back later to see if this has actually happened yet).  Doing so requires me to have a gym membership and use it. So, I figure while I pay for this (read: my dad pays for this), I might as well go and sweat it out…and I mean, SWEAT IT OUT. Anyone who has ever been unfortunate enough to run in to me at the gym has left with either A) a sweaty hug that soaks through their shirt, B) sweat in their eye from a quick hair toss of mine, or C) Hep C (don’t ask).  So imagine my surpreeze (innovative pronunciation and spelling, take heed) when I get to my local 48 Hour Fitness* only to discover that I didn’t spend nearly enough time dipping my face in foundation before putting on my spandex.

Women, more specifically, mom (she’s the only one who reads my stuff), am I being unreasonable to assume that the gym is one place where we should be our grotesque, without make up selves? I feel like sweating is a cathartic, albeit ugly, process of life which we knowingly induce when entering the gym. Shouldn’t we be OK with that?

I understand that plenty of women go to the gym to pick up these Tool douches, in hopes that they can one day procreate and dress their babies in sparkly Ed Hardy shirts, True Religion baby jeans, and baby temporary barbed wire tattoos. However, there are other places to trick these guys in to liking you. For women reading this who want a Tool boyfriend (mom), follow these instructions: wear your usual pound, to pound and a quarter of foundation, heavy cat eyeliner, Christian Audigier top, True Religion jeans, clear platforms (is that too 90’s?), and now find your way to any local biker bar. You are certain to not only find, but attract, a plethora of men that fit right in to your description of “Husband #3″, trust me. I’ve watched my mom, grandmother, and sisters do it for years.

Once you’ve found Mr. Almost Right if it Wasn’t for that Criminal Record, keep your skanky ass out of the gym, so real people who actually want to work out and get sweaty, like myself and that one other girl who has hairy palms, can enjoy ourselves at the gym without wanting to strangle you.

Det er på tide at foretage sæsonens første statusopgørelse af FC Københavns indsats i både Superligaen og Champions League, og resultatoversigten er ikke behagelig læsning for klubbens tilhængere. Den generelt magre pointhøst i den hjemlige turnerings første syv spillerunder kunne være tilgivet, hvis den ensidige fokusering på europæisk succes var resulteret i den på forhånd ventede kvalifikation til gruppespillet i Champions League. Men nederlaget på Cypern til en under normale omstændigheder overkommelig modstander betyder at FC København endnu en gang må tage til takke med deltagelse i UEFAs sekundaturnering, der fra i år har taget en ambitiøs navneændring til Europa League.

Jeg har fulgt FC København siden overbygningens tilblivelse i 1992 og jeg kan ikke huske 45 værre minutter end første halvleg i Nicosia. Spillernes indsats og attitude i sæsonens allervigtigste fodboldkamp var ganske enkelt fornærmende ringe og bør faktisk få konsekvenser for sammensætningen og udtagelsen af holdet. Trods fiaskoen på Cypern og Brøndbys ærgerlige nederlag til Hertha Berlin mødte over 30.000 tilskuere op i Parken til opgøret mellem Superligaens ærkerivaler, og hjemmeholdet virkede fra start opsat på at genrejse sig. Efter en acceptabel første halvleg og med en etmålsføring i bagagen besluttede FCK sig tilsyneladende for at gentage en efterhånden klassisk fejltagelse. I stedet for fortsat at lægge pres på et middelmådigt Brøndby-hold og derigennem tilspille sig yderligere målchancer, trak hele holdet sig 10-15 meter tilbage og overlod dermed midtbanen til modstanderne der ikke overraskende udlignede kort inde i anden halvleg. FC København anno 2009/2010 minder desværre alt for meget om FC København anno 2007/2008.

Man behøver ikke være ekspertkommentator for at kunne identificere holdets største problemer: Vi savner i udpræget grad en aggressiv ledertype der kan svinge dirigentstokken på midtbanen og en styrmand med overblik i midterforsvaret. Hjalte Nørregaard indgyder ikke den fornødne respekt og anførerbindet finder formentligt snart en anden ejermand, enten i forbindelse med et spillerkøb eller en overdragelse til William Kvist. Klubbens anstrengte økonomi sætter desværre begrænsninger for eventuelle nyerhvervelser i den nærmeste fremtid.

Dieser Artikel aus dem Mannheimer Morgen ist mal wieder einer der schillerndsten Beweise dafür warum meine Wenigkeit eigentlich Fußball absolut nicht mag, ja eigentlich sogar teilweise hasst. Als ich das heute Morgen gelesen und die Fotos dazu gesehen habe, ging mir mal wieder sprichwörtlich das “Messer im Sack” auf wie man hier in einem geflügelten Wort manchmal sich äußert.

Letzten Mittwoch gab es anscheinend mal wieder ein Stelldichein zwischen dem SV Waldhof aus Mannheim und einem Teil des 1. FC Kaiserslautern (die zweite Mannschaft, um genau zu sein), eine Konstellation, welche anscheinend schon in der Vergangenheit immer mal wieder eine explosive Mischung darstellte – wenn die Pfälzer und die Badenser aufeinandertreffen…

Das Ergebnis dieses Spektakels:
Viele verletzte Menschen und 50.000 EUR Schaden am Carl-Benz-Stadion!

Allem Anschein nach hat das ganze bereits bei der Anreise begonnen, sich das ganze Spiel über hingezogen und eskalierte schließlich am Ende (siehe diesen Eintrag aus Flensburg-Online). Immer wieder scheint es Zwischenfälle in beiden Lagern gegeben zu haben, seien es mal Feuer und Raketen, oder einfach Gerangel mit der Polizei (Sendungsbeitrag des SWR-BW).

Interessanterweise wird nun die Schuld an der Misere dem DFB in die Schuhe geschoben (siehe hier), weil dieser es versäumte, das Spiel so zu legen, dass gleichzeitig auch die Hauptmanschaft des FCK spielen würde. Somit nahm man sich zur Ausrede, dass der DFB wusste, dass somit besonders viele Fans der Pfälzer anrücken würden und es eigentlich vorhersehbar sein sollte, was dann passierte. Auch die Stadt Mannheim will nun einen Ausschuss zu dem Ganzen haben, und überhaupt scheint sich mal wieder jeder die Schuld in die Schuhe schieben zu wollen, nur nicht seine eigene eingestehen – Der Schwarze Peter wird wieder solange herumgereicht, bis er zum grauen Wirbelkreis wird…

Nach den Kaiserslauterer Zeiten bin ich persönlich nun nicht gerade begeistert, was Fußball betrifft. Ich möchte an nicht alle Fußballfans über einen Kamm scheren, ganz gewiss nicht… Aber was da teilweise abgeht, das hat nichts mehr mit Fußball zu tun, und schon gar nicht mit menschlichem Verhalten – sowas würde ich in den Tierbereich stecken, wenn beispielsweise zwei Ochsen aufeinander losgehen.

Was man da schon alles erlebt hat. Angefangen von gröhlenden und pöbelnden Fußball”fans”, welche bereits lange vor dem Spiel schon stockbesoffen in die S-Bahn fallen, nur um sich dann beispielsweise in Kaiserslautern den Berg hoch zu quälen. Da wird geschrien, dumm angemacht, getreten… Was soll man eigentlich davon halten, wenn da ein Dutzend KErle steht und in die Bahngleise pisst? Was soll man davon halten, wenn der ganze Bahnhof stinkt wie eine Gruft und man noch nicht einmal mehr den Fußboden unter dem ganzen Müll sehen kann. Denn so war es in Kaiserslautern gewesen!

Und nun scheinen auch hier in Mannheim die Chaoten und Idioten wieder am Werk gewesen zu sein. 50.000 EUR Sachschaden! Das ist eine ganze Menge! Und dann wird sich wieder beschwert, wenn die blöden Tikets oder das Bahnfahren teurer werden – von irgendwas müssen die Schäden ja wieder repariert werden. Und nicht zu vergessen die Belastungen der Kommunen. Die Städte Kaiserslautern und Mannheim geben jährlich Unsummen für den Sicherheitsaufwand aus, und beide Kommunen beklagen sich über Haushaltsdefizite.

Und sind wir mal ganz ehrlich: hat dieser ganze Mist eigentlich noch etwas mit Fußball zu tun? Hat das etwas mit Mannschaftsgeist, Fairness, Fan-Sein zu tun? Wohl kaum! Da setzt bei vielen oftmals einfach das Hirn aus. Solche Idioten gehen dann nicht als Zuschauer auf so ein Spiel, sondern einfach nur aus blinder Gewaltbereitschaft und Zerstörungswut.

Arme Irren kann ich da nur sagen!

In February 2009 the consultancy firm Mercer produced their annual list of the 50 most expensive cities in the world to live in.  The report, available here, showed that Tokyo had become the most expensive city in the world to live in, knocking down Moscow from their top spot in 2008.  Despite the rip off of London Transport, London had slipped down to 16th.  Sitting 7th for the second year in a row was the capital of cool, Copenhagen.  Home to Carlsberg, bacon and lovely little bundles of blonde fun it had also become my official second home as a decent promotion at work (Business Manager, Nordic Regions if you would believe) meant that I would be spending alot more time in Denmark.  Part of my package was a very nice waterfront flat, which I gratefully accepted.  All I had to do was furnish it, clean it and buy all those essentials a man needs to make it through the working week.

CMF came over to give the place a once over last week, and drew up a list of essentials for the flat.  So, ladies and gentlemen, find below ten examples why Copenhagen is in the top ten again.  At the time of going to press there was 8.6 Danish Kroner to the £.

1. A bottle of Head and Shoulders shampoo – Boots @ Bluewater £2.29.  Facta supermarket in Copenhagen 62 Danish Kroner (£7.16).

2. Marmite.  An absolute essential in the Fuller household – Sainsburys @ Chislehurst £1.79.  Copenhagen 52 DKR (£6)* I did try to smuggle some in – see Marmitegate below.

3. Lloyd Grossman Tomato & Chili sauce – Tesco @ Borough £1.98.  Copenhagen 55 DKR (£6.34).

4. Findus Crispy Pancakes – Iceland @ Scumville £1.09.  Copenhagen 67DKR (£7.74).

5. Andrex soft arse toilet roll – Co-Op @ New Eltham £1.99.  Copenhagen 48DKR (£5.54).

6. A pair (why are they always called a pair when there is only 1?) of scissors – Ikea @ Lakeside – £0.79.  Ikea @ Copenhagen 37DKR (£4.28)

7. Duracell AA batteries 4 pack (for my remote controls) – Dixons @ Stansted Airport – £2.29.  Copenhagen 50DKR (£5.78).

8. FHM Magazine – WH Smiths @ Stansted Airport – £3.95.  Copenhagen Airport 85 DKR (£9.82).

9. Disposable Razors – Superdrug @ London Bridge – £3.99 for 6.  Copenhagen 80DKR (£9.24).

10. 6 Cans of Carlsberg Special – Borough Market – £6.99.  Copenhagen Beer Markt 49DKR (£5.78)

*Marmitegate – I cannot live without Marmite and it is true that you either love it or hate it.  In the Fuller family we are all in the former’s camp and so we often have a spare couple of jars and so I took one with me on this trip.  As I went through security at the airport I was told it was bigger than the 100ml allowable bottles.  All the jar said was 250g, no capacity limit.  So I questioned the decision and was told “they” have sizing charts to show common bottles, and 250g of Marmite is over the allowable limit.  I asked to see said chart, but was denied.  So I had to hand over my precious, brand new jar but not before opening it in front of the security guard, and taking a fingerful just so that he couldn’t snaffle it away for his breakfast later.  I have since written to Unilever to get clarification on the Marmite sizing issue and will hopefully be able to prove my case on a future trip.

I had been given an allowance of £25 a week for my groceries.  So fed up after week one in being ripped off I decided on week two to go for the grown up approach – a ticket for FC Copenhagen v APOEL in the Champions League and a six pack of Carlsberg Special beer – total price £24.87..perfect.  Man cannot live on Marmite, Crispy Pancakes and FHM alone.  And as I managed to convince my Mum to make me some food parcels every week (I am only 39 after all!), and with CMF doing all of my ironing, and even an offer of the cleaning duties by the wonderful Tina in the office I was sorted.  So what else was I supposed to spend my money on apart from beer and football ?(I should add at this stage that the flat came with super XL cable TV with free unrestricted access to all, and I mean ALL, channels).

Due to the changes put in place by Monsieur Platini, the Champion League this year seemed to have been going on for ever.  The final hurdle before the Group Stages is the Playoff round…This is where the worst placed teams in each of the domestic league qualifiers come in in a special group of their own.  FCK had been in the competition since mid July, beating Mogran the Montenegrin champions, then beating my new favourites StabaekIF from Norway.  So they were now 180 minutes away from the Group Stages, and assuming Arsenal overcame Celtic then would have a one in two chance of drawing an English club and thus a massive pay day from the home game.  In November 2006 they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Champions League in front of a sell out crowd with an average ticket price over 350DKR (£40).  For the game against APOEL, winners against Partizan Belgrade in the previous round, tickets were half the price.

So, a short walk and a 10 minute train trip saw me outside the Parken, the national stadium, now fully renovated after a multi-million Kroner redevelopment over the past two years.  The old stadium, the Osterbro had also had a facelift of its own and I sneaked in prior to the game for a quick look.  This was the original Parken, home to B1903 who were one of the clubs merged to form FCK as well as BK Skjold who play in the Danish 2nd division.

The crowd was sparse to say the least so I had no problems getting a seat on the touchline so I could observe the antics of the few hundred travelling fans, which being Greek, would mean a passionate, if unreasoned display, and I was not wrong.  APOEL are the most successful team in Cypriot football having won the championship on twenty occasions, and have reached this stage of the Champions League back in 2002.  They were hoping to emulate the fantastic achievements of Anorthosis last season in reaching the Group Stages.  They can also claim to have had such players as Chris Bart-Williams, Dean Gordon and Terry McDermott at the club at various stages in the past twenty years.

So with no more than 15,000 in the stadium the atmosphere was muted.  As the teams walked out to the Champions League anthem you would be confused to think this was FCK v Brondby based on the kits…Ah the Kits…FCK love a kit or four.  I went to the club shop before the game to see what wears they had.  For once it was hard to find any tack (apart from a blow up sun lounger in the shape of a FCK shirt) but what I did find was shirts galore.  FCK have obviously been to the English football club school of ripping fans off as they had not one, two, three or four but FIVE kits.  Brace yourself for this:-

Kit one – All white with blue trim used as their Superliga home kit
Kit two – An all black number which is their Superliga away/change kit
Kit three – A change shirt just in case Newcastle or Notts County are moved to the Danish leagues of pink (not salmon pink or fuscia more like highlighter pen pink) and black shorts.  I did ask one of the guys from the office who goes regularly how many times he has seen them wear that kit and he couldn’t ever remember one occasion.
Kit four – An all white with blue AND red trim used for their European home games.  It is exactly the same as the home kit but one half has red piping on sleeves and edge of shorts.
Kit five – An all navy kit used as their European away/change kit

As they are sponsored by Carlsberg they also have to produce a non sponsored top for children or when they play in alcohol paranoid countries such as France.  Add to these the three goalkeepers shirts and you can understand how confusing it is for the fans as to which shirt to buy and still look cool (remember this is Copenhagen, the capital of cool where everything has to be just right).

The away fans tried to raise their teams efforts, but for the first half an hour they simply got the run around from a much more inventive FCK team who still had the tricky Jesper Gronkjaer on the left wing.  Some of the FCK passing across the field was excellent, but they simply could not find the final ball.  The Canadian Atiba Hutchinson did much of the running for the Danes, but APOEL, but on a nucleus of aging non-Greek players held firm.  In the first half alone there was just 2 shots on goal, both coming from the home team.

The second half improved slowly but seemed to come to life after APOEL’s Haxhi was cautioned for a silly foul on Hutchinson.  In the fifty third minute the deadlock was broken as FCK’s attacking full back Pospech appeared unmarked at the far post to head home.  The goal did spur APOEL into action and they came the closest to a goal all evening when Alexandrou went close.  The away fans had been getting more and more upset with the linesman in our corner as they deemed some of his flagging a little excessive.  Tempers reached boiling point when an arguement broke out over who should keep the ball that had ended up in the crowd and stewards had to intervene between two bear chested posturing Cypriots, full of testosterone and frustration.  It was all in vain though as FCK came the closest to a second when a shot from the impressive Almeida hit the post and then in the dying seconds Haxhi committed another stupid foul and realised he was to get a second yellow.  So he could just take it like a man, walking off without a second glance but he decided to take the Stephen Taylor (Newcastle United Centre Back v Aston Villa two years ago) approach and roll around on the floor as if he had been the injured party hoping the referee who have a change of heart.  No such luck and he was off, much to the away fans anger.

So 1-0 was not the best result for the home team.  The temperatures both on and off the pitch next week in Cyprus will be boiling, and with a high probability of a decent draw in the Group Stages it will certainly be one not to miss.
