<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Obama administration has taken the unusual step of <a title="WP Obama prefers Congress to move on Anti-Bias" href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-prefers-congress-to-move-on-anti-bias-rules/2012/04/11/gIQAtxYbBT_story.html?wprss=rss_federal_government" target="_blank">publicly addressing</a> an Executive Order they are not going to enact.  &#8220;The president is committed to lasting and comprehensive change, and therefore our goal is passage of ENDA, which is a legislative solution to LGBT employment discrimination.&#8221; White House spokesman Shin Inouye said last week.  The reason the president was addressing a hypothetical Executive Order was the <a title="WP anti-bias letter from congress members" href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/r/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2012/04/11/National-Politics/Graphics/LGBT-Workplace-Non-Discrimination-EO-Letter-To-President-Obama.pdf" target="_blank">letter</a> sent to him by 72 Democratic Members of Congress urging he sign such an order.   With the divided congress and elections on the horizon, it is highly unlikely we&#8217;ll see any legislation passed addressing this issue soon.   However, five Department of Defense contractors have already adopted anti-bias as policy.</p>
