Getting sick of what you see and read on the internet? As a social media whore, I experience “

Getting sick of what you see and read on the internet?

As a social media whore, I experience “burn-outs” from time to time. Internet for more than an average of eight (8) hours a day can drain a person physically and psychologically. If one works in this industry, it is understandable that we tend to seek for feel-good sites to temporarily divert attention and get refreshed.

I love reading and reading gives me more creative ideas… Ideas that benefit companies especially if it needs massive public relations and marketing strategies. I am lucky that my employer understands this. If your employer doesn’t, then he/she best find someone with limited reading capacity, writing skills, drive in life and zest for creativity to suit his taste. In short, an idiot to just follow the basics and conform with normal advertising/marketing strategy. If you are a student, you might want to take this message clearly on your heads for your better future.

Reading helps a person a lot… especially if all you read is about good contents, interesting and enlightening issues. Taking time to read refreshes the mind and subconsciously gives a blogger in particular, various ideas in a day to create better ads, better blogs and better articles. I’m not trying to veer you away from social networks, the games we play and stuff we do there. Social networks help especially if we pick up topics, photos, etc. from listed friends. However, the idea is normally limited.

Now here are the 5 feel-good sites I go to everyday just for reading:

1. http://www.todaysbigthing.com/2010/08/17 Today’s Big Thing
This is where you’ll see the latest funny videos and creative pictures the internet has to offer in arts, entertainment, sports and more — the real “news” people will be talking about at work tomorrow.

2. http://www.postsecret.com/?cnn=yes PostSecret
This secret-sharing site might be the perfect outlet to release that secret you’ve been harboring. Sometimes it can do a world of good to know someone shares your fears, dreams, hopes and failures.

3. http://1000awesomethings.com/?cnn=yes 1000 Awesome Things
Having the word Awesome itself promises good things. Updated every weekday, this site enumerates the little things in life that we tend to overlook and make us happy.

4. http://www.happynews.com/index.aspx?cnn=yes Happy News
Now who wouldn’t want to read nothing but happy news? This site stores many happy stories that are often lost in the flood of sad/frightening/depressing/violent news that proliferate the internet. Culled from popular news sites and submitted by citizen journalists, the stories on Happy News are just that.

5. http://www.givesmehope.com/?cnn=yes GivesMeHope
Now this site is for optimists. Gives Me Hope (GMH) offers user-submitted true stories of kindness and generosity. The stories are sentimental and, at times, almost heart-breakingly sweet. If one does daily readings here, 100% guaranteed that you will daily love the world despite the harshness and cruelty of life and of people and things giving you bad stress.

Do your daily readings, guys… don’t be left behind!!!
