What do I mean by that? No am not talking about the facebook pokes. What’s the point of that anyway! Someone pokes you and then you poke them back then they poke you again and again you poke them back. The poking continues. No hellos. No greetings. No pleasantries. Its just plain poking. Sushi plays pokey

Sushmita Sen was recently shooting for a movie called Dulha Mil Gaya and apparently in one of the songs her outfit was so uncomfortable that it kept poking her all over. But Sush stayed shush and didn’t utter a word about it. She shot the song with her lips sealed (like a true professional) although at the end of it the pretty dressed had poked her and left her all bruised. I can’t wait to see Sush strut her stuff in the song and of course the dress and why is it pokey I wonder?

Has it ever happened to you? I think it has to me – not exactly the poking part but uncomfortable dresses that I have tried to get into to look good – hell yes! Would love to know your story!

Love it ! I mean look at the place. It’s got the brands, the food, the glitz, the glam, the people who you never meet but always run into and sometimes want to runaway from (including ex-flames and college crushes)

Yesterday I went to Phoenix mills after a rehhheally long time (told you was busy with the wedding coming up and am doing a jig on the sangeet, no no not solo and also the match kept me occupied) You know what always catches my eye – Karigar, a small stall (actually a cart) on the corner right outside Grand Galleria has a beautiful variety of costume danglers – the ones you can put on with a saree or salwar kameez or fusion wear and you are all set ! No other accessory needed. Those big ones with or without stones, the hoops, jhoomkas, the kashmiri ear-rings, all these only for Rs 1500/- A steal  I say, now I wonder why they are so cheap? Is it because they don’t have a store in the mall or is it the quality? Or am I pessimistic shopper? What do you feel?

We don’t have many rules in our house, but interestingly two of them come into force during the Holiday Season.

1. No Christmas music shall be played until the day after Thanksgiving.
2. Bob’s favorite Christmas film, “Love Actually” can’t be viewed until December.

Last night Leslie said that’s she’d got her head around the fact that we were into December; so the gloves came off and I fired up the video. There was the opening shot of Bill Nighy singing “If You Really Love Christmas”. Great stuff.

Since “Love Actually” was released in 2003 this will make our 9th. viewing. Without doubt an outstanding Christmas feel-good movie. [Note to parents: it's R rated.]

Luckily we don’t yet have any rules about me adding snowflakes to the blog during Christmas. However I’ve been notified that this may change.

Guess what am I doing now? Zara refuse to go to sleep and keep on pointing to the door. She said “nanak” whenever I asked her to close her eyes and sleep. She is laughing out loud right now watching her current favorites, Upin&Ipin. She can recognized them and said “betubetubetu” :p hehe cuteness! On top of that, she refused to wear her pants :p See the pic below. Mmg budak nakal :p

Right now she is munching cookie crisp cereal sambil tak berkelip tgk upinipin :p my guess is, i need to wait for another hour before she decides it’s time to go to sleep. tomorrow’s monday! omg another hectic week ahead :p

Sometimes when you get stood up, its a good thing. There is so much you can do! For instance, get an upper lip done, pick up a magazine off the street and read in peace, pay your bills, withdraw some money, phone a friend or mom and catch up, window shop, the list is endless. I was made to wait endlessly yesterday at Churchgate and I got so much work done – boy am glad I had to wait. First thing’s first, I picked up Femina magazine off the street and flipped through fashion, fun recipes, latest luxury and shopping items. I then helped my way to Kaysons across the street where I discovered some delightful corsets for the shaadi season, some reasonably good sarees, kurtis, shrugs et al. After this I realized I hadn’t visited the salon for a while, so I reluctantly started marching towards this Salon called Soundarya at Nagin Mahal near Mocha. It seemed closed or shut down, but I still tried and opened the door, viola! it was full and they had place for one more. Luckily I just needed to do some threading so that went quick and the salon is quite reasonable. I mean if you don’t really care about the frills and the assistant serving you tea and coffee; I would rush to this one whenever I need an urgent service and I know it won’t cost me a bomb and I will be treated fair even if  Iam not carrying an LV along!

Lastly, (you are going to love this) I perched myself on Marine Drive, got some chana jor garam, a bottle of water and just read for pleasure!

Of all the people that exist as of now, Claudia Ciesla is clearly the most stylish of them all. Whether its full sleeves smart bright tees worn with fitted straight pants or simple and sassy feminine tops over a pair of jeans, Claudia looks tres chic. Her evening dresses complemented with contrasting scarves or even her Indian wear – Claudia seems to have got the colors, the cuts, the fits all in place. Quite a charming young lady, she is only 22! Here’s wishing Ms. Claudia Ciesla all the luck for Bigg Boss 3. “Viel Glück!”

Hey there. How is the Saturday treating you so far? Iam truly tied up with work and there is no way out (not like am looking for one) Yesterday night I had a great dinner at Global Fusions at Bandra. A phenomenal spread of Sushi and the wine was excellent too (Don’t ask us for the bill – we are still regretting it) During the dinner we spotted Shiamak Davar and his key dancer Aneesha Dalal. You know the girl who also played the choreographer in the movie “Rab ne bana di jodi” and is always at centrestage in all performances? She looked as gorgeous (if not more) as she does on stage. Dressed in black with big n bold gold danglers in her ears (I love big n bold gold danglers) she was the hogging the limelight even though she wasn’t dancing. A versatile and talented dancer, Aneesha has been with the Shiamak troupe for as long as I can remember. I still recall seeing her on the cover of a teenage magazine while I was still in school and she had said “Boyfriends are ok but only for a while” and a few years ago RJ and actress Tarana Raja Kapoor, also an ex-member of Shiamak’s troupe said something on radio about Aneesha on how she is the only person she knows who looks pretty even when she has just got out of bed in the morning. What can we say! The girls got the looks and she can move n groove – way to go!

Me n mine ! Its a store in Juhu and now also at Bandra. What they got? All Indian traditional and party wear like sarees, salwar kameez, lehenga cholis. After scouting through dozens of stores all through Sobo and suburbs last year, I zeroed down a pink – sequined salwar kameez from Me and Mine at Juhu. What’s really good about this store? The customer service and after sales service. Iam not such a big fan of their saree or lehenga choli collection, although if you like wearing heavy Indian salwar kameez, you could perhaps find something you like. I went after a year to get some finishing done and they were happy to do it (Praveen Parakh the store manager/owner) and were very pleasant about the whole thing. I think that’s important. Even if I don’t want to go to that store, I still will because I know someone there cares about my happiness and will do something if am not satisfied. Customer is king ! (In this case “Princess”) and Me & Mine seems to have understood that right.  I guess other stores must learn from this and care to give another look at the garment if the customer brings it back and accept that its as much a garment theirs as its mine. A highly skilled mason was retiring.  He had built hundreds of great houses for his boss.  He was weary and looking forward to retirement. The Gita has the most profound material on attitude that you can find.  This verse recited by Lord Krishna, “Karmanye vaadhikaarasthe maaphaleshu kadachana” is a real punchline on attitude.  It’s meaning – “You have a right to perform your prescribed action, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results your activities, and never be associated to not doing your duty.”   Do your duty with detachment to end results and results will automatically follow, is what it means. A fast paced, almost fiction like depiction on Lord Krishna and his teachings can be downloaded for free here.  You won’t be bored and the intricacies of the plots are truly amazing.

The latest issue of Fast Company has a very stirring editorial note on Attitude.  He describes how the young Facebook, Twitter generation folks are overturning corporate hierarchies and building businesses.  They don’t respect and couldn’t care less about corporate management structures and have scant regard for listening to deadbeat managers about what cannot be done and how we cannot do something.  They are adopting novel but simple ways to get things done.  It leaves larger corporations gasping for breath. He talks about the celebrity Ashton Kutcher’s attitude and how he is transforming the media landscape.

In these gloomy recession days, Dr. Wayne Dyer’s talks and book on “The Power of Intention” could also bring some cheer and a change in attitude.  Give it a try.

If girlies had their way – they’d turn Santa pink too! I swear! We have that power. The power of pink. The will to think pink and turn it too. Ok now you don’t have to be scared or anything. It’s not like I will look at you and you will turn pink! (Wow! Can that happen? How I’d love that) Ok coming to Christmassy things and Santa Stories. Someone is getting a Pink n Pretty Santa Claus. And its the lucky kids at Lifetrust, an NGO based in Chennai.

Btw, look at her! Isn’t she looking as sizzling as ever? I wonder how that pair of boots would look on me? Aaaah and that coat. No wonder she was part of the best dressed Indians list of 2009.

I have been following her creations and there is a beautiful Indian touch and taste to her clothes. There is a vibrancy, there is freshness, there is a rush. You’d like to try them on? I did a lot of trousseau shopping at Sattva last year. The staff here is extremely warm, friendly, competent always there to comfort you and look after your needs. The fair middle-aged aunti with glasses is adorable. Have fun girls!

So here Iam fulfilling this promise yet again. Tappu ki dukaan is a new store all set to open doors in Sobo. This one will have an assortment of items from Haathi Chaap, Happily Unmarried, Mukul Goel, Mixed Juice Design, Pop goes the art, Yasmin Sethi et al. I know some of these names but I couldnt care so long as I get to see something interesting in here. Iam quite looking forward to the opening as am always on the look out for querrrrkkhhhy stuff. Give me the good stuff coz I got the quirks!

Pump it up! It’s party time. It’s December Darlings! I just returned from a fab window shopping spree with my girly pal. We went all over from The Oberoi Shopping arcade to Tod’s and Jimmy Choo and ofcourse the UpperCrust Show. That was fun. We reached their bright and early so made the most of the food n fare.

Karan Johar was the chief guest at Upper Crust accompanied by Farzana Contractor and the moment he stepped in there was a live shaadi band playing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as Mr. Johar keenly surveyed the entire exhibition.

I know it is a bit late but I still want to go ahead and wish eid mubarak to all my muslim friends. We had a good break at my in laws. The festivities and the fresh air in kampung is simply the best. I met a lot of people, get to chit chat and gossiping with families. In our kampung alone we had 2 cows and 2 goats for qurban. Alhamdulillah, everyone have an extra money to spent and it means the economy is good. We had our share of qurban too and as a result, we had some beef and mutton in our freezer right now. My hubby and I have been craving for another round of nasi impit with kuah kacang. This kuah kacang recipe includes small cubes of meat and blended fried onions, courtesy of the cook expert none other than our Tok. I will definitely going to singsing lengan this weekend and prepare this for us. For Zara, I will prepare a beef soup packed with veggies to eat with the nasi impit. I am salivating already.

Apart from qurban and playing with Zara, I manage to squeeze some time to visit Padang besar to you-know-what :p Shopping la, what else. I did not get any handbag this time, but I got myself nice brooches and some new blouse.

Besides that, I got a chance to visit my friend’s clothing shop and I got some pretty dresses for Zara. I think I overdo it a bit and I will post up some pictures of the dresses to be sold ok. Stay tune.

I did take some picture of Zara and I promise I will update soon. 2 more days before the weekend. I can’t wait to just sit back and relax at home. No traveling this week. Pheww. I need to catch up on laundry. I got tonnes of clothes to be fold and some to be wash. :p
