I grew up listening to many Fela Kuti songs and never
really understood the meaning of what he was singing.
Not only because I didnt understand Yoruba but
simply because I havent opened up my ears…
or mind.

Over the past 3 years Ive really been getting more and more into his music
Learning to appreciate and assert myself.
Appreciate my surroundings.
And the fact that Im African.

And this Water No Get Enemy is my absolute favorite, Pete Rock actually
sampled the song and that just gives me such a great joy that such a great producer
can sample one of the best things to come out of NIGERIA

As much as I love hip hop and to have a song like this to listen to
I can put it on repeat for three days straight… maybe longer
