Politics is dirty business…that’s “politics as usual.” The Alvarado campaign is not into “politics as usual” and will not resort to rhetorical tactics to win in 2010.  

We cannot deny the fact that some people are still waiting for a winning candidate, but we accept it.   We are also aware that many Texans have yet to give serious thought to the governor’s race, much less recognize who is running for governor, with the exception of Perry and Hutchinson.  We are working diligently at reaching as many people as humanly possible, with available resources, with dignity and resolve to pass on our message of hope.

Felix Alvarado is in this race to win.  In our travels, the message has been loud and clear…things need to change.  Felix Alvarado is about bringing real change to Texas government.

The real battle, and the only one that matters is set for Nov.2, 2010. People are ready for change. Whether or not that change will take place in 2010 is yet to be known. Our goal, is to make sure it does happen.

En este, nuestro blog (miembros: Carlos Ruíz, Silvia Morés, Neus González, Karma Castell e Iris Rodríguez) queremos haceros una presentación de nuestra escudería.

Como surgió:

Bien, inicialmente, sin saber como empezar, que decidir, por donde decantarnos.. nos encontramos inmersos en un mar de dudas, tan solo teníamos unos conceptos muy claros que se adecuaban a la imagen que queríamos aparentar y ser.

Tenemos claro ante todo la sensación que queremos despertar en el espectador. Queremos ser un equipo fuerte, resistente, agresivo, temido.. y, a su vez, ser veloces, ligeros, sutiles..

Nuestra escudería debe representar estos calificativos.

Basándonos pues en ellos, observamos que estaban fuertemente relacionados con los adjetivos que definen a un animal, es decir, la fuerza, la resistencia, el valor, la rapidez, la agresividad, la intuición, la inteligencia.. por lo que consideramos que un animal respondía a todos aquellos aspectos que nosotros queríamos representar.

Tan solo mostrando la imagen de un animal estaríamos mostrando a su vez, todos los adjetivos dichos anteriormente, es decir, conseguimos dar forma a nuestros conceptos y que sea captado rápidamente sin necesidad alguna de explicaciones extras.

Concretamente, nos decantamos más bien por un gran felino, es el que mejor converge con nuestro ideal.

Ya siguiendo este camino, creímos indispensable tener una imagen, símbolo con el que el espectador nos identificase. Éste debía ser sencillo, conciso, claro.. y, por supuesto, que estuviera relacionado en su totalidad con nuestros valores. Surgió pues, la “garra”, sabemos de antemano que la precede un animal (sorprendemos así con el misterio de no saber cuál). La garra trasmite sensaciones fuertes, agresivas, temidas, infalibles, rápidas..

Qué estamos haciendo? Pues utilizar un recurso bastante inteligente, englobando y relacionando una cosa con otra de tal manera que consigamos, con todo ello, despertar en el espectador siempre la misma sensación. Con la garra (que sabemos que se produce por un animal) damos este aspecto rudo, agresivo, feroz.. con el felino (imagen que aparecería contadas veces, con la cual estaríamos informando aun más sobre lo mismo pero más específicamente, sorprenderíamos..) de la misma manera, representa estos valores de fuerza, resistencia, agresividad, velocidad, ligereza, etc.

Concluyendo, basados en unos conceptos claros les dimos forma con una imagen del mundo animal, simbolizados por un efecto del mismo, la garra, que nos representaría.

Mientras estas ideas surgían, vimos interesante e importante el corte que realiza la garra, el golpeo del animal, esta fuerza, etc.. y lo consideramos propio para elegir el nombre. Buscando y buscando, encontramos SNICK que significa esto mismo: golpear, cortar.. nos iba como anillo al dedo, además, proviene de otra lengua, muestra pues que no nos acerramos tan solo a nuestra cultura, somos receptivos.. también, es un nombre breve, con fuerza, atractivo..

Curioso fue, al darnos cuenta después, que este nombre que tan bien funcionaba con nuestro equipo, eran también todas y cada una de las iniciales de los nombres de los componentes del grupo.

Qué mejor nombre que éste? Ninguno..

Una vez decididas todas estas cosas, pensamos también en las tonalidades que más iban con nosotros. Como primera idea, queremos mostrar el andrómina con unos colores fríos y quizá un tanto de aspecto futurista, estos tonos representan la dureza..

Ahora bien, para el blog, la ficha técnica.. de nuestra escudería, nos interesaban unas tonalidades cálidas, ello inspira confianza, acoge..

La combinación pues del frío y el calor es tan contradictoria que es realmente atractiva y atrayente.

Hacemos esto visible con fondos oscuros, con texturas como la de fibra de carbono (gris/plata+negro) junto con tonos anaranjados, amarillentos, rojos.. sobre los fondos.

La fibra de carbono muy relacionada con los coches, responde también a los valores de ligereza, resistencia, etc. Podría recordar, como textura, al pelaje de los animales..

Conjuntamos cosas distintas con valores iguales.. interesante.. no creéis?

Bien.. primero de todo perdonad que he estado un poco ausente estos días, ahora pasaré a opinar un poquito las ideas comentadas y a decir alguna que otra.. haber que os parecen!

Principalmente, queremos aparentar (y ser) una serie de adjetivos con los que nos sentimos identificados, con los que queremos que la escudería represente. Tenemos muy claro, todos, la idea de fuerza, resistencia, agresividad.. combinando con ideas de agilidad, ligereza, velocidad.. más sutiles.

Por ello,  la semana pasada predominaba la idea de relacionarnos con un animal, ya que éste respondía a todas las características que nosotros queríamos aparentar y ser. Escogimos un felino porque es fuerte, resistente, agresivo, rápido, ligero, sigiloso.. etc. Todo ello lo simbolizábamos con la “garra”, creaba ese carácter agresivo, fuerte, misterioso.. y, claro está, la precede un animal.

Personalmente, es una primera idea, la cual yo considero muy correctamente construida y eficaz. Ahora bien, al comentarlo en clase con los profesores.. se nos comento que nos habíamos centrado mucho en una idea concreta y que nos iría bien tener más opciones. Las tenemos xD y quiero comentarlas :p

Primero de todo, la idea del rayo, relámpago.. líneas de luz que expresen la velocidad.. etc. lo encuentro muy atractivo, pero creo entonces que sobra el relacionarlo también con un animal, ya nos relacionamos con un aspecto de la naturaleza, la verdad muy potente.. también decir, que nos relacionamos con estos aspectos porque nos sentimos identificados por los adjetivos que lo definen, no por la necesidad de relacionarnos con algo para que nos represente, por eso creo que si siguiéramos con esta idea.. sería con esta simplemente y dejar de lado el “mundo animal”..

Segundo xd, la idea de basarnos en un MONSTER TRUCK me apasiona, nos conviene por el terreno al que nos tenemos que enfrentar, pero (siempre hay un pero xd) siguiendo este camino.. yo, sin duda alguna, persisto la idea de que nos relacionemos con un animal ya que tiene aspectos que nos caracterizan mejor: rudeza, fuerza, agresividad, resistencia.. y el símbolo de la garra nos definiría al 100×100, sería misterioso (la garra indica “algo” feroz, agresivo, peligroso.. pero no sabemos bien bien el que!) además, es muy bueno tener una imagen para que todo el mundo te reconozca nada más verla, es un aspecto de visualización. Así, la marca monster energy es perfecta! (también todo lo que ella representa).

Es una idea que nos conviene más por el terreno al que nos enfrentamos y, además, no considero tan importante la característica de “velocidad” ya que en esta cursa no importan los tiempos sino el llegar a meta. Es más importante resistir, ser fuerte, superar las adversidades sin problemas.. más que la rapidez.. = 4×4.

Comentando pues las tonalidades.. para el blog, ficha, etc.. me gustan las cálidas que tenemos, dan más confianza, más acogedoras.. en cambio, para crear nuestro andrómina, pienso que tonalidades más frías, más distantes, duras.. nos funcionarían bien, ya que no le damos tanta importancia al aspecto de la velocidad a la hora de crear el orni, aun y así con las tonalidades más frías damos una sensación más ligera, etc.

Es bueno combinar un carácter cálido con un carácter frío, por una parte representamos confianza, acogemos.. pero por otra somos distantes, fríos, duros.. según nos convenga y esto aplicarlo como nos parezca a todo lo que tengamos que diseñar, es decir, esto nos interesa cálido, esto nos interesa frío.. pero esto cálido, esto frío.. nos permite más juego, disponemos de muchas más opciones.

Buscando información sobre historia de la competición etc, es bueno el relacionarnos con la cultura romana, ya que eran muy fríos de pensamiento, tenían objetivos claros, luchaban por sobrevivir, eran resistentes, fuertes, agresivos.. intervenían con animales en sus luchas.. ya fuese contra ellos o con ellos.. es decir, si nuestra escudería se basará en lo que he comentado anteriormente, estaría muy relacionado, claro ésta, tan solo de concepto, nosotros crearíamos la versión moderna.

>Con versión moderna me refiero a utilizar materiales nuevos, tecnologías, tonalidades frías, formas más futuristas.. en definitiva, hacer lo nuevo sobre una base antigua. Simplemente, estamos EVOLUCIONANDO..

Hola! Jo tambe m’estreno en aixo del blog i aprofito per dir que per fi puc entrar, escriure, i entendre com va aixo minimament!

Jo fare un petit resum del que hem parlat avui.

Hem decidit com enfocar les noves vies del treball:

1_Hi ha una part que la relacionem amb velocitat i agilitat, mes tirant cap a referents futuristes, moderns o encara no duts a terme (com molt be a sapigut plasmar el Carlos amb el video de TRON legacy). Per tant, tenim adejctius i paraules que ens serveixen com: rastre de llum, felí, velocitat, agilitat, vampirs, foscor, llum fluo, tall, rapidesa…

2_Per altre banda tenir un referent mes historic i d’una cultura antiga com son les curses dels romans. Aqui enganxo les paraules literals de wikipedia on es descriu que eren, i que expressa perfectament el sentit que nosaltres hem agafat pel treball.

Com a altres paraules que poden descriure be aquesta bessant del treball tenim: duresa, contundencia, rinoceront, cop, cabra lluitadora del himalaya ( xd), brutalitat…

En el punt mig, trobem un exemple bastant actual que encarna perfectament tots els valors que li volem donar a l’escuderia, i que no s’allunya gaire del treball que hem de fer durant aquest semestre. Son els MONSTER TRUCKS.

A continuacio intentare (no se si ho conseguire) linkejar un video d’aquest vehicles per tots aquells que no els coneguin.

Whatever Asia. I get home to see Rafa take the second set, see Old Man Ljubs is wrapping up his leg, go and make my coffee, come back, and suddenly Rafa has a sweater on and is signing my computer. WTF Mr. Clean? I was all excited to see an exciting third set, but noooo. This is the eight retirement for the tournament, which surely must be some sort of new insane record (and while I’m on it, there were retirements in 2 of the 4 QFs in Osaka). I did catch a little bit of the Nole/Gilles match too, the end, seemed like a pretty competitive match, Nole came out in 3, and is into the semis, which is pretty well going to give him a strangle hold on his usual third spot in the rankings.

WTF is this? Feli had to qualify just to get into a tournament last week and now he makes a semis of a Masters event? I know we’re down Muzz and Fed, but this is a bit insane. Koala The Bear defeated Steps The Sex in three, and continues his mad hot streak that he’s been on. I’m pretty well assuming he’s going to be qualifying for the YEC, he’s been absolutely tearing shit up of late. So that means Koala/Nole, and pretty boys Rafa/Feli for your semis. Also:

First AID: Primeros Auxilios.

Como cada año a comienzo del curso realizaremos una sesión para aprender, a través de juegos, cómo podemos actuar ante las situaciones de emergencia más comunes que ocurren en el cole: caídas, hemorragias nasales, picaduras, mareos…

Os dejo un enlace en el que podéis encontrar información interesante sobre este tema, y recordad: aunque seamos niños y niñas, también podemos prevenir y actuar en situaciones de emergencia.

Prevención en Primaria

Sunday we spent the day at Mikey's having the pre-birthday celebration for Tex (cupcakes and puppy dog noses trying to get in the cupcakes) and was a pretty good day. We got back to the apartment and fed Bunny, who was acting pretty normal, though she started slowing down about an hour later and then her front leg seemed to fill with fluid very quickly.
She wasn't acting right so I carried her on to the bed to pet her.
Her leg was tender, it was swollen so it would be tender, but I couldn't find a break or a cut. But she also wasn't putting much weight on it, so there was something wrong.
She started acting disoriented, but not in pain and it was one of the things animals do before they die… I really couldn't deal with THAT decision right then, so I tried to get her to settle and talked to her to keep her calm.
I thought I was losing her.
I turned up the warming pad in her bed to keep her comfy and just talked to her for about an hour. I just couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I was going to lose her at that point.
When she finally  stretched out on the heating pad and sighed a little Bunny sigh, I figured we were out of the woods. Poor little kitty doesn't have very much blood as it is, when she gets cold I supposed it gathers center mass and leaves her brain to its own devices. Also, her leg drained nicely and she rested for a while as long as I stayed there. So I didn't move.
I fell asleep sideways on the bed and woke up about 3 am with my legs killing me (from hanging over the side of the bed) and had to pee like mad. When I got up, she stood up, all perky-like, meowed and hopped off the bed as neat as you please to go to the kitchen for her 3am snack.
I was still worried about her the next morning even though she was moving around well, eating like a little lion and generally acting her normal self. Tex was home all day Monday, so I went to work and left her in his care (he was a wreck at this point). I called the vet and told them about what happened and asked my vet to call me back with a yay/nay on bringing her in for a look-see and also what her test results were from last time.

Eventually, my very tolerant and long suffering veterinarian calls me back and says that her numbers are improving, that we should keep all her medicines at current levels and to keep doing what I am doing. He wasn't as concerned about the fluid build up in her leg as it had already receded. He did agree with my theory about her getting cold and her internal pumps going a little cattywampus.
Then he said he really didn't need to see her for another 6 months.
*blink*
This kind of floored me because I got the impression from his last visit, because he didn't give out a year’s prescription on the fluids and needles, that he didn't believe she had that long left… and she had lost a little more weight last time, I thought she was starting her final decline.
Such relief that I get to  be around her a lot more.
She's such a sweet little cat. She's smart, she's hilarious, she loves me and frankly after 18 years of having her around, I don't know what I will do without her. I was basically a different person when I got her.
So, I still have my little kitty and I'll do every thing I possibly can for her while she still wants to be here.

Have I talked about her lineage?
I worked at a bookstore in Austin and worked with some seriously awesome people. Melvyn (his nickname, I have a thing for nicknames…you may have noticed) and Amy were roomies before Melvyn became my roomie. Amy had Peanut the cat who was a dark brown calico. She had a litter at one point and one of those kitties went to her brother Marshall in San Antonio. Marshall had a problem with not spaying his cats, so lucky for me, she had kittens; I asked for the runt and got Bunny.
She's part siamese, I believe, and part calico. I always hear that she is the most beautiful cat… and she is . She started off with dark ears and tail and the rest of her was white with cream spots. Gorgeous then and gorgeous now that she darkened up over time (that's siamese trait)  to dark brown, caramel and tan (calico markings). Silky fur and blue eyes…not to mention the siamese talkative thing. She's got quite the vocabulary. She even has special meows for different people; ring tones effectively.

I've mentioned before what weird luck I have. In fact, I wouldn't call it luck per se, but more along the lines of balance put upon me.
Something horrible happens and then something offsets it.
Bunny seemed like she was dying, then she was ok and I find out her numbers are actually very good.
or then what happened MON night…
My car's Check Engine light came on and I find out its just a little hose that we replaced summarily with a minimum of jostling… and I don't even have to use up my spare $100 part I keep in the car for the more common failure.

At 150k miles, the beast is a work horse. I love this car.
Its comfy, it gets reasonable gas mileage and its of a vintage that its still repairable by a non-dealer mechanic. (Even more awesome is the fact that Tex's nephew is my pet mechanic and we bribe him with computer parts and keep his machine going). I even have a spare ignition coil to fix it on the spot when I get that particular code showing on the code reader. However, it turned out not to be the case in this one. It was the mass airflow filter that we'd replaced a while back, and I didn't have a spare one of those…but Michael looked at it and said "Hmmm, this hose feels funny."
He replaced it and so far, so good. 

So, Bunny still trotting around nicely, the tension levels (well, Bunny related tensions) in the house have calmed (ants are back…grr. I don't want to move but Tex is insane when the ants show up. We'll see what happens.(read:if he wants to move my apartment full of crap, he'll get off his butt, go find a place and organize the money to do so himself. I'm busy taking care of Bunny and the rest of life right now.)) and I think I found a reasonable option for keeping her warm when the radiator is off. Summer is coming and in NorCal is COLD.
I got one of those pop-up dog crates. I turned it on its side so that one of the vents was under her, the other one, now on top, I covered with a dishtowel to keep the warm air in and then covered the whole thing with a beach towel for insulation.
Her warming pad and current towel I moved in wholesale and set it all on the couch.

She was not amused.

She walked in and stood there with her tail swishing in that I'm-irritated-with-you way and didn't move for a full minute. Then she turned around, walked out and then climbed all over me (I was sitting in the chair where her bed used to be.) and gave me The Look several times.
After about 45 minutes, she got in, turned around and lay down, but still gave me the look telling me that this wasn't over yet. (I called it "The Oven"… obvious joke of "The Bun is in The Oven" followed shortly after.)
I think that it will hold enough heat to keep her a bit more comfy, but I'm sure we'll tweak the setup over time and see if she starts to get used to it.

So, the plan for the next six months it to keep her weight up. We're talking ounces, so a regular scale is useless, she's not featherweight so a kitchen scale is too wimpy, and some of the larger scales seem overkill.
My fabulous find? A travel luggage scale. Works in ounces and is compact. I'll just stuff her in a carrier for a few minutes every few weeks and weigh her; I'm sure she'll love that.

Am sa sar peste tot felul de detalii si descrieri sa nu devina prea lung (oricum o sa fie prea lung). In schimb trec direct la servire (mentionez ca in aceasta privinta sunt un om mult prea rabdator care “inghite” multe – nu la propriu bah leguma – si care ramane calm, mai tot timpul):

Ajungem acolo, la Old Mill adica, si la intrare ne intampina o “doamna“. Ne intreaba daca avem rezervare. Normal, nu aveam rezervare. Dupa scurt timp se elibereaza o masa si ne asezam. Trec vreo 15 minute si vine si chelnerita, care de fapt nu era chelnerita noastra.

Chelnerita: “V-a luat cineva comanda?“
Unul din noi: “Inca nu ne-a adus nimeni meniu“
Chelnerita: “Stati ca va aduc eu….“
Chelnerita: “Din pacate am numai doua meniuri“
Noi eram 4 initial. Atata bai sa fie ca stim sa share-uim.

Nu ne-o luat chiar asa de mult sa ne gandim ce comandam ca eram cam toti rupti de foame. Vine dinnou chelnerita, alta:

Chelnerita noastra: “Buna seara. Va pot lua comanda?“
Primu’ din stanga ei: “Buna seara. As dori sa comand niste ciolan afumat cu …“
Chelnerita noastra: “Mai intai va iau comanda la bautura.“

Dupa 15 minute vine cu bauturile si pleaca. Dupa inca 5-10 minute vine si dupa comanda. Isi comanda fiecare ce vrea:

1. Ciolan afumat cu fasole
2. Paste cu nush ce sos
3. Ciorba de burta
4. Pizza Calzonne rulata (comanda mea)

Bineinteles ca ne terminam bauturie si ne mai comandam. Dupa jumatate de ora vine chelnerita cu primele trei comenzi. Eu mai astept se pare cu pizza mea. Apare si a cincea persoana la masa. Dupa inca 10-15 minute vine si chelnerita si ce crezi?

Feli: “As dori niste paste cu ….“

Chelnerita noastra: “Prima data va iau comanda la bautura!“

Feli: “O apa plata va rog!“

Noi: “ce tare ar fi sa-ti aduca asta (chelnerita) apa minerala“

Dupa 10-15 minute vine si chelnerita cu apa minerala a lu Feli si ii ia comanda. Ceilalti au terminat de mancat pe cand i-a vinit portia lu’ Feli.

Poate nu ai urmarit firul povestirii si nu ai observat ca eu in tot acest timp, vre-o ora jumate’ n-am primit ce-am comandat. Cand ii aduce lu’ Feli comanda intrebam si noi, dar totusi pizza mea mai vine?

Chelnerita noastra: “Da e in cuptor. Au fost foarte multe comenzi pana acum si a trebuit sa le onoreze pe acelea mai intai. Ce pizza aveati?“

Clar zic mai mananc eu la pulivara, parca zicea ca ii in cuptor!

Dupa inca 15-20 de minute, timp suficent pentru a pune o noua pizza la cuptor chiar daca a uitat de cea veche, mai intrebam:

Noi: “Dar totusi ce dureaza asa de mult”
Chelnerita noastra: “Vedeti si dumneavoastra ce nebuneala e pe-aici!“

Deja plecasera majoritatea ca mancasera toti!!

Dupa alte 10 minute ii vedem pe trei tipi de care radeam in urma cu o ora cand au ajuns in restaurant ca isi termina de mancat pizza. Opa opa stai un pic ca astia or venit dupa noi cu o ora si mananca nu o pizza ci trei pizza.

Noi: “Nu va suparati, baietii aia trei care stau la masa de vis-a-vis au venit cu o ora dupa noi si tocmai si-au terminat de mancat pizza.“
Chelnerita noastra: “Ei sunt cunostinte de-a lu’ sefu’ si le-au facut mai repede.“
Noi: “?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!!?!?!?!?!?“

…… dupa inca 5 min:

Noi: “Totusi mai trebuie sa asteptam mult dupa pizza aia?“
Chelnerita noastra: “Sincer DA!“
Eu: “Ok stii ceva mancati-o voi, aduceti nota“

Dupa vreo 20 de minute vin astia cu nota si cu pizza intr-o cutie.

Astia: “E din partea casei.”
Tot astia da altu’ din grupu’ lor de chelneri: “Adica nu am pus-o pe nota, nu o veti plati“
Tot astia da altu’ decat altu’ din grupu’ lor de chelneri: “Sefu isi cere scuze ca ati asteptat atata“

Am bagat un cutit de pe masa in cutie, am platit 2 beri si am mancat jumate’ de pizza pe masina in drum spre Cokumbuq. Cealalta jumatate i-am dat-o unui homeless ce cersea bani de vodka in pasaj.

La Consejería de Turismo de la Comunidad de Madrid ha realizado una fuerte apuesta por patrocinar y promocionar el tenis como deporte y nuestra región como destino turístico asociado a él. Su apuesta arriesgada no ha podido tener mejores resultados y resultar mayor acierto que el obtenido tras la consecución del título que relanza en mayor medida si cabe este patrocinio y tras la espectacular semifinal entre España y Estados Unidos celebrada en la madrileña Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas que resultó un tremendo éxito tanto deportivo como organizativo.

Un gran aval sin duda de cara a la celebración y designación que todos tanto ansiamos como es la de celebrar en Madrid los Juegos Olímpicos de 2016.
