FFTA2 is a game you’ll be playing for ages, I’ve managed to put in over 100 hours which quite frankly is staggering as I rarely play one specific game that much nowadays. I thought this particular mission “The Way of the Sword” would be one of the hardest missions in the game and it proved to be actually quite challenging.

It involves using Frimelda who is one of those secret characters you hardly use in your missions and this woman’s no exception. I decided I wanted to complete the mission anyway so I made here a Paravir (Dual Wield and Strikeback as reactive and passive abilities) with Pulgism as a secondary ability and went to see this blademaster. I had an Ever Robe on along with a Ribbon and an Angel Ring just in case I died.

The battle didn’t last long as I got completely wiped, maybe because I was at Lv. 40 and the mission rank was 50. I decided to try again, this time as a Paladin with Pulgism (Paravir’s Flair abilities are pointless as the Blademaster you fight is immune to debuffs) as a secondary option. This time I had the Peytral Armour which is the best armour in the game I reckon. I decided to ditch the Ribbon in favour of another Angel Ring and equip the strongest weapons I had on me (cheap move I know! ).

This time I managed to avoid any debuffs and defeat him though I still had to use both my Angel Rings up!

So having done that, Frimelda returned to the bottom of the clan’s pecking order. xD

I also managed to beat the story missions and I thought the last mission would be hard but it turned out to be very easy so all that time I spent levelling up from 47 to 71 with Luso was worth it in the end.

I don’t know how many missions there are left to do but to be honest I’m just glad I’ve got this game out of the way.

Back to levelling DNC again, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to play DNC so I’m quite happy to be back at it. Did campaign for a while in East Ronfaure before Dardar invited me to a level sync with her and Asta for a bit. Wasn’t too bad, I managed to ding level 63 finally.

But I should really work on getting more allied notes for the Cobra Unit gear. I can do that tomorrow after the Uggapelih Pendant run I think, feel a little tired for the moment.

I’ve been playing FFTA2 most of the day. I still can’t be arsed to go for the boss yet, I’m spamming repeatable quests to level my characters and get them to learn more abilities. At the moment, Ribbons are my top priority. Or atleast getting the male members of my party access to ribbons ._.; Would be useful I suppose. It’s just rather slow with the repeatable quests.

Hopefully I get my loan in on Monday, I’d like to buy FF4 for the DS since I did rather enjoy that game >w<. Anyway, waiting for my comp to finish updating itself then I’m gonna go watch another film. (: Nightnight.

Who loves laspes in updates more than I do? Anyone? Anyhoo I figured it has been long enough since my last update and to check in. I recently celebrated a birthday and picked up Final Fantasy Tactics A2 with a gift card. Being the Tactics veteran that I am, I figured I’d begin a campaign on hard difficulty. FFTA was absurdly cake, and I was itching for a challenge that would tax my tactical skills. Everything was going fine until I started hitting the brick wall of job progression; not having equippable items to learn abilities from specifically.

Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention, but I must have missed the explanation that anytime a yellow dot filled a bazaar slot, you could unlock an item. Rather I thought I had to fill all available dots for a particular row before you could craft items. When I discovered that this was not the case, that brick wall crumbled … a little.

Now I’m running into the problem of being underleveled for most quests without a surefire way to level my team up. Seems that random clan battles have been mostly nixed, and the “world map” is sometimes annoying to navigate. The one clan battle I did get to jump into featured a level 9 mage with firaga and a golden hairpin. >.< Are you serious? (BTW, I did win that battle, but it was a tad hairy)

While I appreciate that FFTA2 has enough old stuff tweaked and new systems to feel fresh, I am not quite on board with the bazaar system and the lack of direction with the plot 10 hours in. Another quibble I have is with how excrutiating long every turn, action, etc takes. I *LOVE* the battle system, I just wish I could breeze through battles faster.

Other than FFTA2, I played the Too Human demo for a bit and, well … I’m disappointed. Everything was pointing to cool with Too Human, but when they chopped the multiplayer down to 2 players from 4, I knew something was wrong. Quite simply, the combat blows. Using the r-analog stick to execute melee attacks is already questionable, but can be acceptable should the attacks flow naturally. That is not the case with Too Human.

Combos suck because they don’t flow and require you to continuall tap the stick in the same direction. A misplaced flick and you’ll find your character careening off screen to attack some enemy that you can’t see. And that brings up another problem: the camera. LB + R-Analog for free look is counter-intuitive when you have melee attacks mapped to the analog stick. Didn’t anyone over at Silicon Knights bring this up?

*Sigh* Well at least I can scratch Too Human off my list of games to buy. I’ll assuredly pick up Force Unleashed and Fable 2 now.

On the homebrew front a group translating FFTA2 created an application to just for translation. We can possibly expect more ROMS, much faster due to this development. Not sure how legal though. -_-’

Not an RPG, but still interesting. Twilight Syndrome: The Forbidden Urban Legend looks somewhat like a visual novel/horror game. Basically you play two Japanese girls exploring the mystery of mysterious cell phone text messages. Sounds odd, but the Japanese do know how to make some good horror, so I’m hoping for a good scare. Hopefully it comes to the US. Possibly won’t though. (I should really just learn Japanese and import.)

An upcoming SRPG, Knights in the Knightmare proves to be epic at least in the battle sense. Being able to control legions of characters with the point of a stylus sounds challenging and fun. And the main character is a spirit type thing, adding a new demention of game play.
