I must admit something here and now before I continue with the evenings tale of woe. I have been dia

I must admit something here and now before I continue with the evenings tale of woe. I have been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. It doesn’t feel “right” for me to say I have it because normally it seems as though titles like that are reserved for those in the military who have seen drastic action and violence. But I suppose childhood abuse qualified me for the title. As such, I find it difficult to allow people in to my circle, to trust them fully, or to let them know very personal things about me. In the macro view of life, my matters…well…matter not. (I say this to diffuse any sense of me finding my affairs as the end all be all of the world.) I have other little idiosyncrasies as well. When it comes to restaurants, I prefer booths not in full view of the entrance. I prefer my back to walls most, if not all, times. I can suffer from panic attacks in large crowds. The list goes on, but you get the gist of my little hangups. One of the things I find extremely difficult to handle is for people I feel close to becoming angry at me beyond a level I’ve been previously comfortable with. Now the setup has been complete.

Daemon had been staying with me longer than he had planned because of the car accident. He needed to iron out details with the insurance company, and it wouldn’t have been prime to drive a rental car home not knowing what would need to be done with it. We’re in the beginning stages of a relationship, so consequently as a rule of mine, we haven’t had sex. But we’ve done everything else up to that point. For most of the time he was here, I wasn’t in the mood to do much of anything. I can’t exactly say why, but I have a few decent guesses as to the formula that was involved. I imagine going to the gathering and having a bunch of unknown people touch me had a small psychological shut down effect on me. I was worn out when I came back and definitely needed extra breathing room. I also began taking a new birth control in September. Birth control and I have never gotten along. I take it to reduce the symptoms of endometriosis, but it’s never been friendly on my emotions, body, moods, etc. I finally began taking a pill that had the lowest dose of hormone possible, but it seems as a side effect my sexual desires have COMPLETELY plummeted in the process. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t losing it, so I checked online and confirmed that, yes, many women suffer from the same symptoms I do.

During the work week we weren’t intimate. For the first half of the week (or rather most of it) we didn’t even tickle-play because I needed recovery time from the gathering and I was tired from getting up early for work and coming home to clean and cook and get affairs in order. Sometime during the early weekend we eventually “played”. I ended up falling asleep immediately after without satisfying him. He informed me the next day and I felt pretty bad. I like to think that’s not really my style. Either that night or the next day we began play again and I had rolled over to lay when he was finished. I noticed he sighed a bit and we started a dialogue, but it quickly turned into a chewing. I don’t want to misquote him because I don’t remember EXACTLY what he said, but he informed me how long it had been since he arrived at my apartment, and the fact that I hadn’t been intimate with him once. I began trying to explain what I felt was the reason why and he retorted by telling me that satisfying him had absolutely nothing to do with my needs and that I could throw him a hand-job once in a while to help him since he wasn’t asking for sex. I’m not completely sure if it’s what he said, how he said it, or a combination of both, but I felt a crushing feeling in my chest. I couldn’t think of a thing to say I was so blown away. I’m gonna confess, I felt pretty cheap just then. It was a momentary feeling, but I related what he said to something you would tell a prostitute. I can’t remember exactly what I did after that but I know we layed in silence on the bed.

Eventually I got up and started fumbling with blankets. He left the room and I finished making the bed and crawled under the covers. I cried and cried and cried. I put some blankets over my head to muffle my breakdown because I didn’t want him to hear. He came back into the room soon after and I’m not sure if it was because he heard me or if he just wanted to check on me. I’m fairly certain he said what he said out of a burst of frustration and didn’t expect my reaction in the LEAST bit. He was taken aback and began apologizing and cuddling with me in bed. I was so thankful he came in to do that. When I’m upset I don’t extend any type of olive branch or make any initial contact. If he hadn’t come in to hold me I would have just cried in bed alone. I cried for quite a long time thinking about what he said. I felt a bit useless as a girlfriend, and felt a bit unwanted. It wasn’t his fault, but I think that things of a sexual nature separate a friend from a significant other, and then I thought he probably assumed I wasn’t interested in him and that’s why he became so upset. I think we’re going to have to work on our communication a bit so we have a better understanding of one another. I ended up falling asleep and woke up feeling absolutely AWFUL the next day. We never spoke about the incident so I didn’t have any idea where we were at, hence no closure. I came home that night and we lightly talked about it, but then moved on to other things. I’m still not sure I feel closure on the matter.

I only type about this now in hopes of finding some way of getting my mind to cease dwelling on what happened. Thankfully this has been the largest tiff we’ve had, so I say things are going well.

Two days ago when I was in the town of Goldbanks (population one hundred, including the spittoons) I visited the local watering hole hoping for a shot of my favourite Jack when the drunken stranger sitting on a barstool and cradling his beer like it was a newborn decided he’d try muscle in on the new guy, show him who’s top dog in this town, if you catch my drift. The barkeep was a burly man, stronger no doubt than the buffalo that roamed the area and twice as hairy, but even he seemed too timid to chuck the troublemaker out, so I knew I was in a bit of a difficult situation.

The drunk identified himself as Tex (they usually do, it’s a popular name out here in the desert) and said he’d never seen me before. Course he hadn’t, I told him, I just got here. He then told me he didn’t like my attitude, and that he was in the right mind to teach me a lesson. I warned him, of course I warned him. I told him he was disturbing the wrong passenger, but he’d have none of it. Outside, he told me, we’d settle this outside because he didn’t want to ruin his favourite bar and I agreed, I didn’t want to give a bad first impression after all. Besides, the barkeep seemed to be a good man, I’d hate to ruin his day.

So outside the stranger went, expecting that I’d be following him and we’d fight it to the death like gentlemen of old. Imagine his surprise when he turned and all he saw was dust, and the swinging saloon doors. I hadn’t finished my whiskey yet, didn’t want to waste my money. The man cursed and shouted but didn’t come back inside; instead he threatened and warned that I’d have to come out sometime and that he’d wait for me until I did. I’d embarrassed him, see, and if he came back in to beat the living daylights out of me he’d be going back on his word (not that his, or for that matter anyone’s, word meant much) and it would ruin what reputation he had. So he planted his sorry ass outside the door of the bar and I enjoyed my whiskey. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that the sun had just started setting and long shadows were spilling all over the chairs and tables. Patrons were giving me a funny look as they slowly trickled out of the bar, but I ignored them and tried to clarify my options.

The barkeep cleared his throat and gestured to the clocktower. It was getting late. I forked out some money, then came up with an idea. I gave him a very generous tip and asked if there was a back exit. His eyes widened and he gulped in fear, but he nodded and tilted his head towards the rear of the bar. I thanked him and sure enough there was a door that swung open to the side of the saloon, an alleyway nestled between it and the bank next door. I walked to the front corner, peeking my head around the building to see if the stranger was there. He seemed to be about to fall asleep, but there he was, leaning on the wall with his back to me. I looked for a moment and found a metal crowbar on top of a dusty anvil behind the stranger, so careful to not make any noise, I crept up toward the anvil and picked up the crowbar. Then, losing all pretence of silence, I ran at the stranger, feet crunching loudly on the dirt. The stranger turned, confusion quickly melting away into surprise, then to fear as I brought the crowbar down with a grunt. The crowbar connected and an unpleasant cracking sound echoed through the town, and the stranger crumpled like a sack of potatoes. I dropped the crowbar and spat on the still body of the stranger.

“I told you you were messing with the wrong passenger, stranger.”

I left town immediately afterwards.

It’s funny, every team I disrespect and/or hate just continues to prove me correct in my reasoning for it. Ok USC, you were taking a knee to win the game and UCLA called a timeout. In all honesty, there is no point to call a timeout. That being said, Pete Carroll, you’re a douche for this. I can’t wait for this program to collapse like Miami did a few years back. It will be well deserved for this show boating, cheating, and that split national championship.

This isn’t the first time that UCLA was on the wrong end of a douche bag move

And even further back in the school’s proud history, that includes you Troy Polamalu

I just keep my fingers crossed that everyone involved with this program gets their’s in the end. Thank god the biggest cheater of them all did:

Ryan and I have been planning to cover the Youth Fight For Jobs event about a month ago and it

Ryan and I have been planning to cover the Youth Fight For Jobs event about a month ago and it’s finally here! As stated in the website, Euston Station was the nearest station to the assembly area so without hesitation, we bought our tickets.

When we got there, like tame animals being released into the wild, we had totally no idea where to go or what to do. We walked aimlessly for about 20 minutes before we met a group of people holding the message boards. We joined them and eventually, we got to the assembly area in time. We had a quick breakfast and off we went to shoot!

At first, there were not many people around so I thought, ”this would be a pretty small protest”. As the clock ticks, the assembly area started to fill up with participants. Some of them where preparing their message boards, some came all dressed up, there were few that had their morning coffee, and some of them were even rehearsing. If you are interested in these social group activities, they have booths where you can register yourself to get newsletters from them. You don’t have to make your own message boards if you don’t want to because they also have booths selling those boards and other merchandise.

The march started around 12.30pm, guided and guarded by policemen and women. At the assembly, there were about 300-400 protestors, as they march, other bystanders started to join in the crowd and the numbers grew up to about 1000.

Yesterday Mini Red and I decided to do something a bit different… We went to the Roller Derby to see the DC Roller Girls.

We had a blast!

We got there fairly early and it’s a good thing if you want a good seat in the bleachers. Otherwise you can sit on the floor on the edge of the flat track but you have to be 18 to be in the front row since a player could be thrown into you. The crowd was minimal but it was a very eclectic group and fun to watch. I thought DC Roller Girls was a team but it consists of several teams for the DC area. A woman with the group in front of us was explaining how the derby works and how points are accrued.

I decided to go check a few things out and found myself at the t-shirt stand. I asked the tattooed girl behind the counter how many teams DC had and who was playing today. She told me DC has the Cherry Blossom Bombshells, DC Demon Cats and Scare Force One. On this night Scare Force One would play against a Philadelphia Team named the Heavy Metal Hookers but the main event was the Cherry Blossom Bombshells vs the DC Demon Cats. She told me if I had any more questions to just stop any of the players mulling around.

When I got back to the seats Mini Red and I shared information we had each gotten. She had been listening in on the rules of the game while I shared the information I had gotten. We noticed a player from the Bombshells handing out stickers. I wanted to meet this player and get a sticker for Mini Red but Mini Red was hesitant, feeling intimidated by her surroundings and wanted to stay in her seat. I urged her to come with me because I knew she would feel regret later if she didn’t. She hesitantly agreed but was soon excited to meet, the incredibly nice, Dr. Drea who we even got a picture with.

Roller Derby has an air of violence or so we have been led to believe but to meet these women and watch the game it isn’t like that at all. Of course there is pushing and shoving out there but it isn’t like that in reality at least not in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

Wikipedia states:
“Nearly all contemporary roller derby leagues are all-female and self-organized, and were formed in an indie, DIY spirit by relatively new roller derby enthusiasts. These leagues deploy traditional quad roller skates, and a punk aesthetic and/or ethic is often prominent. Many, if not most, are legally incorporated as limited liability companies, and a few are non-profit organizations. Most compete on flat tracks. Only 4 compete on banked tracks.

Most players in these leagues skate under aliases, many of which are creative examples of word play with satirical, mock-violent or sexual puns, alliteration, and allusions to pop culture. Examples include Sandra Day O’Clobber (Sandra Day O’Connor), Scariett Tubman (Harriett Tubman), Skid’n Nancy (Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen), Goldie Knoxx (Goldilocks, Fort Knox), and Anna Mosity (animosity). Some players claim their names represent alter egos which they adopt whilst skating. By the 2009 season, however, a small number of players on at least three leagues had started skating under their real names.

The names of the bouts themselves are typically as sardonic and convoluted — for example, Nightmare on Hull Street (Nightmare on Elm St.), Seasons Beatings, (Seasons Greetings), Night of the Rolling Dead (Night of the Living Dead); Spanksgiving (Thanksgiving), Grandma Got Run Over By a Rollergirl (Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer), Skate & Destroy Her, Cupid’s Quarrel, Shamrock and Roll, Pushin’ Daisies, Cinco de May-hem (Cinco de Mayo), and War of the Wheels (War of the Worlds).

The camp can extend to players’ uniforms as well. Costumes are often inspired by or comparable with rockabilly or burlesque fashions, and tattoos and tutus are commonly in evidence. In some roller derby leagues, showy on-track behavior, half-time entertainment and randomly selected “penalty games” emphasize the “entertainment” in sports entertainment. The extent to which such non-athletic stylizations are embraced varies from league to league, and continues to be a source of some contention.

Inasmuch as roller derby is a contact sport, the risk of injury is non-trivial. Injuries range from common bruises and sprains to broken bones and beyond. As is the case with many sporting events and other large public gatherings, many modern roller derby games are required to be played with EMTs on hand. Some leagues prominently display their injuries, and safety and injuries are a perennial topic on skating blogs and other forums.

Although the 2000s revival of roller derby was initially all-female, some leagues later introduced all-male teams, and co-ed games.”

The Rules (Thanks to Wikipedia):
“Most current roller derby leagues use rules developed by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). A summary of the WFTDA rules follows:

Roller derby takes place on a circuit track. Offense and defense are played simultaneously. The two teams playing send five players each onto the track — three blockers (defense), one pivot (last line of defense) and one jammer (scorer). Helmet covers are used to display the players’ positions: a striped cover is used for pivots, a cover with two stars is used for jammers, and no cover is used for blockers.

Pivots and blockers from both teams start the game by forming a single pack. In a pack, all players face counterclockwise. The pivots line up next to each other, followed by a layer of four blockers, followed by a layer of two blockers. The two jammers, who are not considered to be part of the pack, are positioned 20 feet behind the pack. At this point, no differentiation need be made between the two teams; as long as the pack formation is as described above, it does not matter if the team members are interspersed randomly in the pack.

The referee signals the start of jam formation by blowing a whistle. During jam formation, the entire pack moves counterclockwise, during which time players can change position. All pivots/blockers must remain in the pack (i.e., no more than 20 feet in front of or behind the largest group containing blockers from both teams). Jammers remain stationary during jam formation. When the last person in the pack has passed where the front of the pack was initially lined up, the referee blows the whistle twice, signaling the jammers to take off, and play begins in earnest with a jam.

A jam is a 2-minute countdown period during which both teams attempt to score points. Points can only be scored by the jammers, who, moving counter-clockwise, attempt to pass the pack and lap around as many times as possible. After passing the pack the first time, jammers earn one point each time they legally pass an opposing blocker/pivot. During a jam, all pivots/blockers must remain in the pack. Pivot/blockers attempt to assist their jammer through and out of the pack while simultaneously stopping the opposing jammer from exiting the pack. If a pivot/blocker falls or otherwise becomes separated from the pack, she is out of play (i.e., cannot block or assist the jammers) until she catches up to the pack.

The first jammer to legally pass all pivots and blockers once the jam begins wins the status of lead jammer for the remainder of the jam. The lead jammer can decide to end the jam at any time before the 2 minutes are up. She does this by placing her hands on her hips repeatedly, which signals the referee to officially call off the jam.

After a lead jammer has been established, both jammers have the option of passing their positions to their teams’ respective pivots (passing the star). This is done by removing the 2-star helmet cover and handing it to the pivot. The pivot then becomes the jammer, and the jammer becomes the pivot for the remainder of the jam. If the original jammer was the lead jammer, the position of lead jammer is not passed on; the position is forfeited for the remainder of the jam.

To impede the progress of the opposing team’s jammer, players may block using body parts above the mid-thigh, excluding forearms, hands, and head. Elbows may not be used in blocking, and cannot be swung at other players or used to hook an opponent’s or teammate’s arm.

Each game consists of two 30-minute or three 20-minute periods. At the end of each jam, players re-form the pack and continue play.

Penalties are given to skaters who block illegally, fight or behave in an unsporting manner, or otherwise break the rules. Possible penalties include sending players to a penalty box (during which time opposing jammers score for opposing skaters in the penalty box when they score their first point in each pass) and expulsion of players. A skater goes to the penalty box for 1 minute immediately upon incurring a major penalty, or after accumulating 4 minor penalties.”

Mini Red picked up on everything about this game pretty darn fast. I was a little delayed since my ADD had me trying to watch too much including the crowd. By the end we were screaming and yelling for the Cherry Blossom Bombshells who lost to the DC Demon Cats by a mere 6 points in the last round.

As we left Mini Red hugged me and thanked me and said she had a ton of fun and can’t wait to come back. She has now added skates, pads and a helmet to her Christmas wish list. Plus she has picked a name for her Roller Derby persona… Ginger Slap!

This whole dream was bright and colourful, like a kid’s cartoon show. I was an animal of some

This whole dream was bright and colourful, like a kid’s cartoon show. I was an animal of some kind (I don’t think I’d been turned into one, it was more like this was my natural state) and I lived with all the other animals in a forest/jungle. The start of the dream is quite hazy but I remember a feeling of peace and happiness. This harmony was shattered though because the dragons and the wolves were going to have a war.

The dragons had always been outcasts who kept to themselves. I don’t know how they had fallen out with the wolves but the rest of us were not involved at all. These dragons weren’t huge like the dragons in cartoons, they were more like big lizards who stood on their back feet. They were probably about the size of a person, maybe smaller.

Everyone was apprehensive about the war because we were afraid we’d get dragged into it or our homes would be destroyed. For this reason, on the day of the first battle, we were all hiding underground. We were hiding under some wooden floorboards and we could look through the slits. We saw the armies of the dragons and the wolves approaching each other (the wolves also stood on their hind legs). At this point it all kicked off and we ran further away from the battle.

At some stage during the battle, an army of humans arrived. I don’t think they had any idea that there was already a war going on between the animals. I’m pretty sure they were just trying to invade whatever country we lived in. This caused everyone, wolves and dragons included, to run as far away as they could and as fast as they could from the humans. The smallest animals were the most scared as they knew the humans would trample on them without even noticing.

I think I was an animal that could swim because I was suddenly swimming in an underground lake with a frog I knew. We surfaced to find ourselves right under a wooden bridge the humans were running across. We had to keep ourselves perfectly still and not disturb the water in case they saw us. We could hear them shouting to each other and I saw them load their guns before running across the bridge.

That’s the last bit I remember but I know the dream was much longer and much more detailed than that.

Everyday I turn on the news and hear of killings and of the terrible things that we’ve been do

Everyday I turn on the news and hear of killings and of the terrible things that we’ve been doing. Children that bring guns to school and kill their fellow classmates, or people throwing acid in other people’s faces. I hear people preaching of the end of the world, the wars to come, the economy and debt we’re in. Day after day its the same thing! And it doesnt seem to be getting any better.

What has become of us? Are we that poor we must steal? Are we that mad that we must kill? Or are we all just crazy? Are our children born with some sort of mental illness that drives them to become sick little twisted people who kill for fun? We cant even protect our children from the evil of the world anymore.

Our country has gone to peices. No, not just our country, our entire world. Our government has taken control of everything and they’re not even doing the right thing, or anything for the people. We’re left to suffer like dogs. They’re trying to eliminate our elderly and make room for the rest. Soon they’ll be implanting us with chips, and on top of it, I hear we’re supposed to have one currency for the ENTIRE WORLD.

We owe tons of money to China ( and you better be careful, cause they’ll be coming to collect that sometime soon, you can bet). We’re in wars with other countries, when we should be joining other countries to fight these wars. Lets join Israel and blow up Iran. I mean, doesnt anyone think anymore?

We have criminals living on our streets and harming us, and our children. Uh…..where are these police officers? They’re not just supposed to be there when we call them, they should be there watching and protecting. What good are you AFTER someone has been shot? You should PREVENT us from being shot. Lock these no good SOB’s up and get them out of our neighborhoods!

And who is allowing these criminals to have possesion of weapons? Shouldnt we have laws about that? I mean yeah, Amendment 2, but excuse me…I dont believe it was in the Amendment that killing citizens was ok. We should be checking out the people who own guns. Even though I realize that wont stop them from getting guns, but still, we should do all that is in our power to prevent people from dying.

I just dont understand whats happened to us anymore. We’ve all gone insane. Is it the economy? Can we not pay for food and shelter to support our families so we kill others to make that hurt go away? I mean, what exactly is it that has driven us mad?

Why are kids going to school stabbing other kids for no reason? Why are pervs out on the streets raping children and kidnapping them? Yeah, they’ve always done this, but, why more so now?

Now is when we need someone to help us. I’ve never been a very religious person. I’ve gone to church a few times. But I do believe that when everyone joins together and stands up for something, you will get it. So now we need to all come together and stand up, and ask God to help us. He wont listen to just one person. Hes angry with the world. Hes upset with what we have done. If people came together and asked for forgiveness and asked him to help us out down here, perhaps he’d give in and see that not all of us are as bad as others make us out to be. Even if you dont believe in God, you better start believing in something. Because you disbelief will lead you somewhere you dont want to be.

I have found this song, sung by Dolly Parton, which you can find on Youtube. Its a beautiful song that I love singing along to. This is what we should be saying. This song is what we should be asking God. Theres more truth in this song, than there is on our politicians.

But nothing will ever change if we dont take a stand.

Hello God- Dolly Parton

Hello God, are you out there?
Can you hear me, are you listenin’ any more?
Hello God, if we’re still on speakin’ terms
Can you help me like before?
I have questioned your existence,
My resistance leaves me cold
Can you help me go the distance?
Hello God, hello, hello

This old world has gone to pieces
Can we fix it, is there time?
Hate and violence just increases
We’re so selfish, cruel and blind
We fight and kill each other
In your name, defending you
Do you love some more than others?
We’re so lost and confused

Hello God, are you out there?
Can you hear us, are you listenin’ any more?
Hello God, if we’re still on speakin’ terms
Can you help us like before?
Oh, the free will you have given
We have made a mockery of
This is no way to be livin’,
We’re in great need of your love
Hello God

Hello God, can you grant us
Love enough to make amends
(Hello God) Is there still a chance
That we could start again
Hello God, we’ve learned our lesson
Dear God, don’t let us go
More than ever
Hello God, hello, hello
Hello God, we really need you
We can’t make it without you
(Hello God) We beseech you
In the name of all that’s true
Hello God, please forgive us
For we know not what we do

Hello God, give us one more chance to prove ourselves to you
Hello, God; hello, God

Finally done with the first week of werk. Im loving it so far and im doing quite good, making progress and making good company with colleagues. A few documents still worries me but thats okay, i can complete requirements soon. But i feel changed really, i am more responsible now, i move a lot and i dont procrastinate so much unlike before where i practice the zen of being a total bum. I dont ever want to be late at work, I dont ever want to be absent. Im loving my work and im enjoying it. Thank God for the opportunity.

Birthday was happy. Again, thanks to Joane for making it a lot special, a bottle of beer and a platter of seafood plus a good chat with an awesome friend was bliss. I also bought comfort food – a huge bucket of popcorn with melted butter and a bowl of big onion rings. It was awesome, it really was. After that, i nailed the interviews at sykes even though i made a really crappy resume. By the end of the birthday week, i got a job offer. Again, thank God for the opportunity.

My personal xmas is just 17 days away. I dont really wanted to count it but its the way it goes. Im already making a list in my head of the possible things i would want to have for xmas. I need things to continuously bother me in a good sense because i will be living a solitary life again soon. So far i have learned how to brace myself and harness courage to take on whatever is thrown at me. And believe me, i have been through a lot and starting out again seems like a very impossible and tedious task. I have to be strong and for a lot of people out there that seem to lose faith, just stay strong and keep on fighting and dont lose hope and dont lose courage. Its important that you set your mind to think positively, just finish each day on a good note.

xmas wishlist.

I wish next year will be a very productive year for me. More moolah, more change in character. I also wish to upgrade my lifestyle, be able to do more. I am anxious thinking about it but im sure ill be able to make a lot. I feel the change in me, and i feel im doing good so far. I just need to be consistent. As far as negative distractions go, i.e. my immediate past feuds, well, like i said i dont give a flying fuck. It doesnt matter and i moved on long time ago, if they just keep leaving me alone and giving me peace and freedom, i would gladly appreciate it. I have a lot of things and goals that i want to achieve. a lot of activities that i want to do. and a lot of people that i want to meet. The future is bright and its mine for the taking. One step at a time. Slowly but surely. It is possible.

I want an xbox360 really. Or a ps3. I cant live long enough without a video game console. I miss having a virtual fantasy world with nba2k10 and fifa10 and all the other stuff. It would be a great thing for me to have as a stress remover. I want a camera too but not the dslr thing. Just an ordinary digital camera that can record videos. I also need a lot of new magic materials. I practiced some of the routines to my sykes friends and somehow they enjoyed it. i have to practice a lot more. Sigh i really want a lot but for now, im just looking ahead to work every single day. I want to obsess myself to it and just devote myself to work.

There’s a lot to look forward to for next year. And all that makes me excited, feels like i cant wait to be in that spot and i cant wait for me to taste a little bit of success. I know i will soon and i understand how fast time flies. Thats why its important to blog about thoughts from time to time. Save what you thought about this particular times. You’ll learn and you’ll laugh at the experiences and you can see all the rocks thrown at you. And you’ll be surprised how resilient you are because now youre still standing up. Wounded and yet still going at it. Scarred and yet still poised to strike.

I feel the change, i feel energized and inspired but what im doing right now. If i had one xmas wish, is that i just want to keep it up this way. I have been through a lot of things, people tried to put me down. But i somehow survived and i now i refuse to be treated like that. It is just the beginning.

Visually, today was very cool. A bobcat crossed my path! Certainly a first and the highlight of the day. But I also feel bogged down, heavy and tired.

I had a fight with my sister about a week ago and it is not finished yet. I had expected for us to make up during this time we are together over Thanksgiving, but as expectations go, they have not been met.

We had this fight on the phone and were mid-fight when she had to hang up and finish work for her finals – she is in graduate school. I am not at peace with this fight and I always like to complete things – especially fights. Sweeping things under the rug is never good, in my opinion, and the longer you go before getting everything out in the open and putting things to rest, the worse off you are. But my sister does not want to talk about the fight. So what do I do? I’m lost.

What do you do when one person wants to talk about something and the other person doesn’t? This fight we had, has a major issue at heart. It’s something that I think she will need some time with and is something that she is hurting and struggling with more than I may realize. Perhaps this is a time for me to accept her limitations at this point and simply be loving. Maybe it’s less important for me to say what’s on my mind and more important to give her space? But then, I am hurting and struggling to. Again, I really am at a loss on this.

I feel sad and powerless with this…and that is not a recipe that ends well for me.

                                                                       12

such as the present one, we are of the view that Central Investigating

Agency i.e., Central Bureau of Investigation may be assigned the task

of tracing minor Adithya Chandran and his production before this

Court. This has become all the more necessary for the protection of

health and safety of minor and because the police authorities of

various States are clueless about the whereabouts of respondent

no. 6 who has been moving with the child from one State to another.

and pick up minor Adithya Chandran wherever he is found without

interference from any one and to produce him before this Court with

his report.

15. Let the matter come up before the Court after six weeks

or earlier if the minor child Adithya Chandran is traced by the Central

Bureau of Investigation and produced before this Court.

CLIMATE : As discussed above, generation of heat is a function of gravity, which in turn depends

CLIMATE :

As discussed above, generation of heat is a function of gravity, which in turn depends on mass. As long as the mass of the earth is constant, the quantity of geothermal energy produced is also constant. Initially, heat is transferred to the seas and, thence, to the atmospheric H2O, and ultimately to the outer space, when the latent heat is released on formation of water droplets which form clouds. Simultaneously, heat is being radiated continuosly from the surface of the earth ,both land and sea, as the outer space is considerably cooler than the earth.

The heat generated by the earth is converted into kinetic energy in a big way, when ocean currents are working round the clock. The volume of water involved in this process is thousands of times more than that of all the rivers of the world.

Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes etc. also eat up considerable quantity of geothermal energy. Diffusion of water in the seas takes place continuously because of hot bottom and cool Polar regions. Part of the energy is also used up by cyclones, tornados etc. (the circumstances in which these are caused by hot steam emanating from the seas will be discussed in BUT-Volume III).

If the total quantity of geothermal energy is T, the energy converted into kinetic form is K and heat lost by radiation R,

T – K – R = the net increase or decrease in the warmth of the globe

From the table given below, it is clear that during the last 200 years there has not been any appreciable change in the warmth of the globe.

For a proper study of this subject, a distinction has to be made between the temperature of the earth and the temperature of the atmosphere. The latitude-mean temperature graph fairly represents the temperature of the earth, as the sea surface is not much affected by weather conditions. On the other hand, land stations will be subjected to violent fluctuations in the weather like extreme summers and winters, especially if the stations are much above the sea level.

The land mass contains lakes, surface soil water, water chambers, sub-terrainian water channels etc. which retain considerable quantity of water. Because of the peculiar structure of the H20 molecule, heat is retained in water for a longer period than other materials. This is the reason why summer extends much beyond the date 21st June in the northern hemisphere. In the absence of water on the earth the peak temperature will end on that day and we may experience pleasant weather by August. Similarly, but for snow and the water layers lying just below the surface of the earth, the winter will start waning right from 21st December.

In spite of these differences, data in respect of land stations, too, prove my contention that the globe is not warming!

When we look back

“It is an inquiry of some interest, whether the general temperature of the globe is stable, or is gradually undergoing change through diminution or addition. We have no means of deciding this point, because our thermometrical determinations are confined to a comparatively modern date. The instrument was not brought to perfection until the year 1724, by Fahrenheit, and therefore beyond that period we are dependent upon the recorded experience and sensations of observers, and upon the details of agricultural failure or success, for our knowledge of temperature in former times. We are not warranted to infer from these casual notices any changes of physical climate generally within the era of authentic history, though in particular localities, there is strong reason to suppose that an alteration has taken place; but this has been the very reverse of an impressions that once prevailed respecting it. The existence of a colony on the east coast of Greenland cut off from communication with the external world, and destroyed by the gradual accumulation of the ice upon its shores –the fact of immense forests anciently clothing the highest parts of Britain, and other northern countries, where a tree now can scarcely be made to grow –of the period of the vintage formerly commencing several weeks earlier in France than at present-of vineyards having been planted in the south of England during the time that the Romans held possession of the island, where hops can only be raised with difficulty- and of the sides of the Scottish hills bearing evident traces of the plough, which have long been surrendered to the heaths as incapable of cultivation;-these circumstances have been appealed to, as evidence of a milder and more genial climate having once characterized the northern regions of Europe. Sir John Leslie has remarked upon these details, “that a patch of wood will not thrive in cold situations, merely for want of the shelter which is afforded by extensive plantations. In Sweden and Norway, which are mostly covered with natural forests, it has become an object of police to prevent their indiscriminate destruction. The timber in those sylvan countries is cut at stated periods of its growth, and in detached portions; the vacant spaces being left as nurseries, embosomed amidst an expanse of tall trees. Some places in Sweden, where the forests have been accidentally destroyed by fire, present the image of sterility, and of wide desolation. It is probable, the vines grown in ancient times were coarser and hardier plants than those which are now cultivated. A similar observation extends to all the productions of gardening. A succession of diligent culture softens the character of the vegetable tribes, and renders them more delicate, while it heightens the flavor of their fruits. The Roman soldiers stationed in Britain would naturally prefer wine, their accustomed beverage, however harsh and poor, to the cervisia, or unpalatable ale brewed by the rude arts of the natives. The marks of tillage left on our northern hills evince only the wretched state of agriculture at a remote period. For want of a proper system of rotation, and the due application of manure, the starving tenantry were then tempted to tear up with the plough every virgin spot they could find, and after extracting from it a pitiful crop or two of oats, to abandon it to a lasting sterility”. With reference to the colony supposed to have been planted on the east coast of Greenland, now an uninhabitable region of glaciers, there is reason to believe that its name, Oestre Bydg, the eastern settlement, simply refers to its position in relation to another settlement, both of which were on the western coast, now occupied by the Danish factories. From the name of Snowland, afterwards supplanted by that of Iceland, given by the roving pirates of the Baltic to that island upon its discovery in the ninth century, it may certainly be concluded that the climate of the north was then analogous to what it is at present.

A different opinion, that the climate of the midland part of the temperate zone, especially in Europe, is less rigorous now than it was sixteen or seventeen centuries ago, appears to be supported by sufficient evidence. After making allowances for inaccuracy and exaggeration in the statements of the classical writers, they will still be found descriptive of a cold in various districts, as a feature of the ordinary temperature, which is not realized at present. The epistles written by Ovid from Pontus, whither he was banished by order of Augustus, describe the rigour of the climate there, in terms which suit the winder of Hudson’s Bay. He mentions, among other instances of the extreme cold, The Euxine Sea being frozen over, so as to bear men and cattle upon it. Tertullian, one of the Christian fathers in the second century, writing in the style of the fierce zealot and florid rhetorician, against the herectic Marcion, thus refers to the same region:- “That tract, which is called the Pontus Euxinus, the hospitable sea, has been refused all favours, and is mocked by its very name. The day is never open, the sun never shines willingly, there is but one atmosphere- fog; the whole year is wintry; every wind that blows comes from the north; liquors are only such before the fire; the rivers are blocked up with ice, the mountains are heaped higher with snow; all things are benumbed, all things are stiff with cold, nothing but cruelty has there the warmth of life; that kind of cruelty, I mean, which has supplied the stage with fables concerning the sacrifices of the Tauri, and the loves of Colchis, and the tortures of Caucasus. But there is nothing so barbarous and miserable in Pontus, as that it has given birth to Maricion; he is more savage than a Scythian, more unstable than the wild inhabitants of a wagon, more inhuman than the Massageta, more audacious than the Amazon, darker than the mist, colder than the winter, more brittle than the ice, more treacherous than the Danube, more precipitous than Caucasus”. Virgil refers to the winter on the banks of the Ister of the Greeks, the modern Danube, in the third Georgic, in a manner which at present is inapplicable to any part of its course:-

“ The sun from far peeps with a sickly face,Too weak, the clouds and mighty fogs to chase,

When up the skies he shoots his rosy head,

Or in the ruddy ocean seeks his bed.

Swift rivers are with sudden ice constrain’d

And studded wheels are on its back sustain’d;

A hostry now for wagons, which before

Tall ships of burden on its bosom bore,

The brazen cauldrons with the frost are flaw’d.

The garment, stiff with ice, at hearths is thaw’d.

With axes first they cleave the wine; and thence

By weight, the solid portions they dispense.

From locks uncomb’d, and from the frozen beard,

Long icicles depend, and crackling sounds are heard.

Meantime perpetual sleet, and driving snow,

Obscure the skies, and hang on heards below.

The starving cattle perish in their stalls;

Huge oxen stand enclos’d in wintry walls

Of snow congeal’d; Whole heards are buried there

Of mighty stags, and scarce their horns appear.

The dexterous huntsman wounds not these afar

With shafts or darts, or makes a distant war

With dogs, or pitches toils to stop their flight,

But close engages in unequal fight;

And, while they strive in vain to make their way

Through hills of snow, and pitifully bray,

Assaults with dint of sword, or pointed spears,

And homeward on his back the joyful burden bears.

The men to subterranean caves retire,

Secure from cold, and crowd the cheerful fire:

With trunks of elms and oaks the hearth they load,

Nor tempt th’ inclemency of heaven abroad.”

The allusions to the climate of Itay in the Georgics, referring to the Augustan age, are in several respects irreconcilable with its present character. The writer speaks of the freezing of the rivers in the southern part of the peninsula as an ordinary occurrence, and gives frequent directions for the protection of sheep and goats from snow and frost, as if addressing a shepherd of the plains of Holstein or the highlands of Scotland. It is a well-attested fact, that the savage inhabitants of Gaul and Germany usually selected the winter-season for their warlike incursions into the Roman provinces, on account of the facility afforded by the ice for the transport of their armies, horses and baggage, across the grate rivers, which have never been frozen in modern times as to admit of such an occurrence. In the time of Ceasar, also, the rein-deer, now confined to the colder regions north of the Baltic, was found, along with the elk and the wild bull, in the Hercynian forest, which then over-shadowed a grate part of Germany and Poland. A volume published at Vienna in 1788, contains some remarkable passages concerning the state of the weather for more than a thousand years back, gathered from the old chronicles, which detail the state of the harvest, the quality of the vintage, or the endurance of frost and snow in the winter. From this work, Sir John Leslie, in an article furnished to one of the public journals, quoted the following record of excessive winters and summers, to which some additions have been made.”

People often ask why I do so many long roadtrips just to go watch a football game.
Some think I’m crazy to drive all night to watch a football game, then immediately drive back, sometimes over a thousand miles.

The answer is simple. First, I love my Ducks.
Second, nothing beats a gameday atmosphere in college football, absolutely nothing. It’s like a drug, and I am hopelessly addicted to cheering on the Oregon Ducks.
Third, you never know when something amazing is going to happen, and to be able to say that you were there to experience it first-hand is amazing.

I’ve had those memories from one such roadtrip way back in 2000 when Oregon played at Arizona State. The game ended up going to double overtime, and should have been triple overtime if ASU hadn’t faked an extra point attempt with Todd Heap letting the pass fall off his fingertips. I had about four separate heart attacks in that game, and thought I would never see something to match it…

But that’s why I do these roadtrips every year, for the chance to see something amazing. Last weekend in Tucson, something amazing occurred.

I left work on Friday and jumped on the freeway, fighting brutal LA traffic the whole way. Apparently I wasn’t the only one trying to escape Los Angeles Friday evening, but going only 30 miles in 2 hours was a practice in frustration. Once I finally got past Redlands though it was clear sailing all the way to Phoenix. I stopped at the same Mobil gas station in Quartzsite that I’ve stopped off at countless number of times prior, the one at the exit with a wagon next to the Pizza Hut mini-store. I recall playing around on that wagon while some college buddies and I gassed up after spending a week out in LA for spring break, and stopping there for food with my parents when they picked me up from college, and when my buddy Ryan bought a ‘Quartzsite Trailer Trash’ trucker hat there when his band came out to my school to perform…he wore that hat every day for years, probably is still wearing it right now if it hasn’t completely fallen apart by now. Strange how for all of these trips between LA and Phoenix, with different vehicles, over hundreds of miles it always works out that I need to stop at the exact same gas station every time.

On to Phoenix, and my friend Stephanie’s house, for a quick nap. I had to head off to Tucson extra early, because ESPN College Gameday had chosen to broadcast live from Tucson for the Oregon-Arizona game, their first time ever in Tucson (they’ve done their show four times from Eugene). The broadcast was starting at 7am, so I needed to be at my buddy Dal’s place early so we could get there.

In to Phoenix at 1am, out the door at 4am headed towards Tucson, groggy but completely Ducked out in my gameday outfit and an Oregon flag in my pocket to wave when cameras panned by during the ESPN broadcast.

I got a little bit lost in Tucson, so Dal and I were running a bit late when we got to the ESPN College Gameday set on the University of Arizona campus. There was a decent-sized crowd there, but not as many as there had been for the USC-Oregon broadcast I had attended a few weeks prior back in Eugene…and for that one it was still dark, very cold, and raining.

Looking around, not surprisingly most of the Arizona fans were about LeGarrette Blount. Yeah, to be expected by this point, but I’m so over giving a crap about what people think about Oregon’s 5th string RB. The Ducks have one of the premier RBs in the country in LaMichael James, they don’t need Blount. But if people wanna talk shit about it, I just pity them for being such idiots…or in Tucson’s case, PITTY them.

“I pitty the fool that holds me under 5 yards (Blount’s rushing total vs. BSU, the only game he played in this year)

“Cage your LaGarrett”

The gameday crew slowly made their way out for their Sportscenter live check-ins before the Gameday broadcast began. Right away I could tell this one wasn’t going to be as good as the USC-Oregon broadcast. The gameday crew seemed much more maligned and subdued, and the crowd wasn’t nearly as rowdy. Eh, it was the first time Gameday had been in Tucson, and the AZ fans didn’t quite know how to properly bring the energy that having the prestigious TV show do a live broadcast from your campus deserved.

I was pleased to see a decent turnout by fellow Duck fans, it was a good sign that the crowd that night would have a good turnout as well. Say what you will about Oregon, but one thing you can’t ever deny is how loyal our fan base is, we travel well.

There was one sign that really pissed me off though. After being in Arizona for the last two games, there’s been a lot of recent animosity between the two fan bases because of injuries and fan behavior. 2005 Oregon’s starting senior QB Kellen Clemens broke his leg during the game in Tucson, then two plays later the backup QB Dennis Dixon suffered a concussion.
2007 it got ugly, when senior QB Dennis Dixon tore his ACL on the field, causing some of the Arizona fans erupt in cheering. This really pissed me off, as with many other Oregon fans really leaving a sour taste. Worse still was when Arizona fans mobbed the sidelines, taunting Oregon players while the game was still ongoing trying to pick fights with them and Oregon fans in the stands, and taunting and preventing Dennis Dixon from going to the locker room. There were almost numerous fights that nearly broke out near us as the game ended and Arizona fans stormed the field, then tried to antagonize Oregon fans in the visitor section behind the visitor bench by the visitor locker room entrance.
So two games, one with really piss poor Arizona fan behavior, and in both Oregon’s star QB was lost for the season.
One fan at the broadcast decided to bring a sign that read:
Clemens [check]
Dixon [check]
Masoli, you’re next
Some Arizona fans nearby were commenting on it finding it disrespectful, it was more than just that it was flat out wrong, and should have been confiscated by the Gameday sign nazis that roam the crowd looking for inappropriate content.

It was also interesting to see the splattering of random fans from school’s not affiliated with the game that day. There was of course the traditional WSU flag, being flown at every Gameday broadcast across the country since the 90s. Dal and I stood next to the WSU bearer for that week, and next to a family of Stanford fans. Behind was a Kansas State fan sticking out like a sore thumb wearing purple, and a few other random sprinklings of fans of various schools around the country…even somebody waving a Green Bay Packers flag. There were also a noticeable amount of Ohio State fans there, which pleased Dal greatly being a Buckeye fan while also an Arizona alumnus.

Eventually the Gameday live broadcast started, and the crowd jumped into their U OF A chant…

About halfway through the broadcast co-host Chris Fowler addressed the crowd, just like he had during the broadcast in Eugene weeks prior, to thank everybody for their participation.

Eventually the broadcast neared its end, and the traditional climax…when Lee Corso makes his pick for the winner of the game by donning the headgear of the mascot of one of the teams.
The Gameday crew gave their opinions of both Arizona and Oregon, of which we could only hear a word or two over the PA and the crowd would immediately start cheering or booing depending on if what they side was pro or anti Arizona. I had a feeling they were all leaning towards Oregon…after four trips to Eugene for games, they love Oregon. Oregon has been involved in games that Gameday broadcast from five times, four being home games, and every single time Lee Corso has picked Oregon putting on the Duck head. So I was confident Corso would once again show his Oregon pride, Duck fans love him too much for him to go against us.
Herbstreit was calling the game that night, so he couldn’t make an official pick, but all but chose the Ducks in his comments. Desmond Howard also picked Oregon. The guest picker for the week, Arizona alumnus Amanda Beard, of course chose Arizona to win, but then came the big moment with Corso and the headgear…

As expected, Corso put on the Duck head, and the crowd booed and left when the cameras shut down.

As we walked back to Dal’s car I spotted a sushi place with a sign that cracked me up…

Fuku Sushi? Yeah, fuck you sushi!!! Coming soon to engrish.com, or feel free to lolcat caption it as you see fit.

Back at Dal’s place we turned on the Michigan-Ohio State game, which I hear is a rivalry that a few people might care about. I went online to check the various Oregon messageboards…yeah, Duck fans were absolutely livid over the insulting “Masoli, you’re next” sign that had appeared at the Gameday broadcast. I watched the Michigan-OSU game for a bit, but the long drive and short night of sleep was catching up with me so I crashed out in Dal’s room for a few hours before the game that night.

Eventually we headed out for the stadium with a quick stop to pick up Dal’s girlfriend Liz. She was going to come with us to the gameday broadcast too, but with a badly sprained ankle it was probably best to stay off her feet as much as possible rather than just stand around for three hours then do it again that night at the game.
Traffic was brutal, in part because of the game but also there was some major bike race going on that was shutting down some of the main Tucson roads. No real shortcut to get around it, just have to wait for a gap so traffic can pass by.

Liz and Dal headed towards the stadium

There was a large contingent of Duck fans, always good to see, as we made our way to the stadium. I took my share of ribbing, which I always get in my Duck colors when on the road. It’s to be expected, and I actually kind of enjoy taking shit from the other fans over proudly wearing my Duck colors.

The ESPN College Gameday bus, parked underneath the stands at Arizona Stadium.

We settled into our seats, once again on the visitor side near the visitor’s locker room entrance behind the Ducks bench…Pretty close to where we were in 2007. Little did we know that all hell would break loose and we’d be in the epicenter of it, but more on that later.

It was still an hour until the game started, and I spotted some familiar faces down on the field. Former Oregon head coach-turned-Athletic Director and TV broadcaster for the local OSN replays of the game was chatting down on the field and occasionally taking photos with Duck fans nearby.

Mike Bellotti chatting with somebody, while former Oregon and longtime NFL player Anthony Newman stands nearby.

Oregon’s QBs and centers take the field for warmups.

Either the offensive line are going through pre-game warmups, or they are practicing the Thriller dance.

An hour before the game the Arizona student section was already jam-packed, and downright hostile. They booed every time Oregon players emerged from the tiny stairwell leading from the visitor’s locker room, and did their best to make pre-game warmups a hostile experience.

The Duck and Oregon cheerleaders clowning around while waiting for the game to start.

The team headed back into the locker room for last minute preparations before kickoff, and the big issue with Arizona Stadium was once again noticeable…For the visiting team to get off the field they have to go one-by-one down a tiny little stairwell leading to a small door. To move a team of 65 large football players + coaches and other personnel, and it can take 5-10 minutes just for the team to get off the field. This is a problem because it sits right in the corner of the stadium where the cheap seats are for the really rowdy and drunk instigators among the Arizona fans tend to rally together, and the scene can get ugly while the visitor team has to just stand there one by one going down the stairs while those fans have a clear shot to do, or throw, anything.
This is something that absolutely MUST be addressed and improved by the university when/if they do any facility upgrades, purely from a safety standpoint this issue needs to be changed. You can’t have the team just standing around right by the crowd for minutes on end, it can create an unsafe situation.

Trying to get back to the locker room, going one-by-one down the tiny stairwell.

Eventually kickoff came around. It was the final home game for Arizona, senior day, so they had something special planned for the departing seniors playing in their last home game.

The game started, Oregon getting the ball first. Oregon promptly stormed down the field and scored a touchdown.

The Oregon flag made its first appearance in the endzone, while the Oregon Duck did his traditional push-ups in the endzone for every point scored.

The Arizona fans in the endzone seats didn’t appreciate this, and loudly booed the flag runner and threw objects, mainly water bottles, in his general direction tossing objects on the field.

That seemed a bit unnecessary. I can understand booing the flag, but to throw things onto the field is just disrespectful and embarrassing for your own team. They continued to do it after every time Oregon scored. Whenever the Oregon flag appeared, flung garbage from the stands followed.

The game Ducks took a 14-0 lead, but the scoreboard was malfunctioning, so when Arizona scored the board read 7-4 Arizona lead.

Whenever there was a break a few Arizona fans would move through the aisles towards the Duck visitor section we were sitting in with signs about LeGarrette Blount trying to antagonize. Apparently people in Tucson hadn’t heard that our 5th string RB isn’t much of a factor in the game, and it seemed a bit dickish to be walking over into the Oregon section repeatedly to try to start a fight, just enjoy the game guys.

“Elizabeth Lambert could kick Blount’s ass”

Early on it looked like Oregon might run away with the game, but this just made me more nervous because the same thing happened in 2007, with Oregon losing that game thanks to Dixon tearing up his knee.

The 2nd quarter it was all Arizona, as they stormed back, leaving the game close by halftime. It was anybody’s ballgame in the 2nd half, who wanted it more. The victor of this game would be in the driver’s seat for winning the Pac-10 and earning a Rose Bowl berth, the loser would be all but out of the hunt for the Pac-10 title.

Some players heading in early for halftime

Coming back out of the locker room was the most running LeGarrette Blount (#9) did all night, but Arizona fans sure noticed when he emerged from the tunnel and made his presence known.

In the second half things started to get really interesting. Oregon’s offense stalled, and Arizona took the lead. By the fourth quarter Arizona had a chance to all but put the game away, but kept tripping over themselves making dumb little mental errors. A pass just slightly overthrown to a receiver in the endzone, a missed field goal from close range, an unnecessary penalty…little things started piing up for Arizona, and it was keeping Oregon with a breath of life when they could have completely shut the game down.
Still, it was worrisome, and the crowd was getting raucous sensing an upset over the Ducks. Wilbur, the UA mascot, mocked the Oregon crowd and Duck mascot by throwing bread in their direction “feeding the Ducks,” then brought a box of tissues to the Duck mascot.

Though things started to shift a little. Football is a game of momentum, and one or two little things can completely switch a game. Oddly those two things both occurred on field goal attempts going towards the same goal posts.
First Arizona kicker Max Zendejas missed an easy shortrange field goal at the end of the third quarter. Then in the fourth quarter Oregon kicker Morgan Flint attempted a 43-yard field goal that hit the horizontal cross bar of the goal posts, but took an awkward bounce and managed to go forward through the goal posts. That seemed to re-energize the Ducks, and I commented to Dal and Liz and the other Wildcat fans near me “sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good!”

The game raged on…Oregon scored. Arizona scored. Tit for tat, both teams battled.
Arizona had a chance to burn out the clock to win the game, but they foolishly kept throwing the ball, incomplete passes stopping the clock saving valuable time for Oregon to stay in it. They tried to seal the game away by throwing the ball deep into the endzone on a third down, which Oregon intercepted.

Down a touchdown with two minutes left, following the interception had to go 80 yards and score a touchdown to send the game to overtime. Apparently not realizing the fact that the game was still very much in doubt, some Arizona fans started spilling out from the student section onto the sidelines in preparation of rushing the field.

To the credit of the rest of the Arizona student section and surrounding fans though, a “get off the field!” chant started up telling their moronic brethren to get back in their seats because the game wasn’t over. I smirked a bit thinking, “wow, they’re going to feel really stupid when Oregon scores a touchdown here and sends it to overtime.” I might have said it out loud to Dal, but I can’t recall if I did or not. In post-game interviews with Oregon players, apparently a few saw and thought the same thing I did.

Oregon started moving the chains. A couple dropped passes made things precarious, but when Oregon converted a first down on a 4th and 5 Dal and I just looked at each other and gave a knowing stare, that it was inevitable, a foregone conclusion that Oregon was going to score and send this game to overtime.

Down the field Oregon marched, while a few fans went back to their seats but most remained down on the field mobbing the Arizona sidelines. Sure enough, with six seconds remaining in the game Jeremiah Masoli tossed a pass to Ed Dickson for a touchdown, sending the game to overtime. Right before the snap I shouted out “Ed Dickson! It’s going to Ed Dickson!” Dal just sort of nodded, knowing too that was where it was going. We could read the play from the stands on the opposite end of the field, but apaprently Arizona’s defense couldn’t because sure enough Ed caught it.

To overtime went the game, Dal commented that he had never been to an overtime game before and how mentally exhausted he was by it. I told him about the double OT game at ASU I had attended years prior that Oregon had won.
In overtime Oregon was on a roll, just unstoppable. They quickly stormed down the field and scored a touchdown.
Arizona’s turn, and they too respond with a touchdown…Time for double overtime.

In double OT it was Arizona’s turn first, and their playcalling all of a sudden got very conservative. They ran twice, once with their RB fumbling the ball, and according to Duck fans it was recovered first by Oregon then an Arizona player stripped it away, but the replay screen didn’t show this well enough to comment on it one way or another.
After a filed bubble screen on 3rd down, Arizona kicked a FG. This meant if Oregon scored a touchdown on their overtime possession they won, or they could kick a FG to send it to triple OT.

…It didn’t take long. Oregon RB LaMichael James darted through the line for a big gain, bringing it inside the 10. It was inevitable, only a matter of time. We all knew, zone read option, Masoli would keep the ball and stroll into the endzone.
Once again, even if Arizona knew what was coming, they couldn’t stop it. On 3rd down and short Masoli ran the zone read, kept the ball, and sneaked into the endzone to seal it.
44-41 in double OT, Oregon beats Arizona.

The fans that had mobbed the Arizona sideline must’ve really felt like jackasses, while I jumped with jubilation and Dal just shook his head in amazement as to how the game had transpired while cursing out Zendejas for missing the easy FG that would have prevented the game from going to overtime.

With the Ducks now the frontrunner for the Rose Bowl, I quickly made a paper rose and had Dal snap a photo of me with it with the scoreboard in the background.

Meanwhile, the Oregon team was heading back to the stairwell leading to the locker room while celebrating the unbelievable win. A few Duck players were very exuberant, and understandably so, as players motioned to the Duck section joining in on the celebration taking place by Duck fans in the stands.
One Duck player was a little too excited, safety Javes Lewis, who was off to the side jumping up and down waving his arms. Apparently Arizona fans took this as mocking the crowd, and started throwing a couple things at him. One of his teammates ran over to him and grabbed him, pulling him back towards the team mobbed together trying to slowly make their way down the stairs.

One fan went down onto the field and got in amongst the team and held up a “I SMELL ROSES” sign, in tribute to the team’s run towards the Rose Bowl as well as a reference to the fan-made song & music video that a week earlier had been placed on the internet and overnight become a huge sensation.

(admittedly, the song is effin’ brilliant and hilarious , and I must’ve listened to it 15-20 times on the drive out to Tucson from LA blasting it and shouting “I love my ducks!” into the Arizona night)

Apparently Arizona really didn’t like it.
They didn’t like how the game ended.
They didn’t like how their team had choked the game away.
They didn’t like how long it was taking for Oregon to get into the locker room.
They didn’t like that Oregon players were celebrating the win with the contingent of Duck fans, which happens at EVERY road game I’ve ever attended…but apparently in Tucson and Tucson only this is to be taken as a great insult, and some of the Arizona fans chose to retaliate.

From the corner endzone seats, debris started flying. At first it was just a bottle or two aimed at Javes Lewis jumping up and down, then it picked up momentum. Soon it was raining water bottles onto the Oregon players and personnel down on the field, and in the general direction of the elated Oregon fans celebrating the amazing double OT victory.
Water bottles turned into other objects, for about 3 minutes it seemed like anything that wasn’t bolted down was being thrown at anyone not wearing Arizona red. Not all Arizona fans were participating, but any were.

Dal was ready to attack any Arizona fan he saw throwing things, he was furious screaming at them to knock it off. Duck players started pushing to get into the stairwell to get off the field as quickly as possible. One cheerleader got hit in the side of the head with a full water bottle and was knocked unconscious, and had to be taken to a local hospital overnight for observation after suffering a severe concussion.

Duck players got hit with debris, cheerleaders and personnel on the field got hit, Duck fans in the stands got hit.
It was embarrassing and as close to a riot scene as I have ever witnessed. 99% instigated by Arizona fans, the smart ones were leaving while the idiotic ones were trying to start fights with Duck fans. When they got angry that Duck fans wouldn’t retaliate to their taunts, they instead started taking it out on the Tucson police and security staff that had formed in the general area.

Things were still being lobbed when Dal, Liz, and I made it to the tunnel to exit the stands. It looked like a riot was going to break out at any second, and we wanted o part of it. I couldn’t imagine anything like this happening at Autzen Stadium, but I did recall an episode where water bottles were thrown into the endzone after a game in 2002 or 2003 after repeatedly atrocious referee calls went against Oregon…but this wasn’t about the refs making bad calls, or the team being cheated out of the game…Arizona was just outplayed in the final minutes, and the Arizona fans wanted their revenge for it. Rather than just take some solace in the fact that they were there to witness one of the greatest football games in recent memory, without question the best football game played all of this year, they instead wanted to exact their revenge…on an Oregon cheerleader?

In the end all they did was further embarrass themselves, their school, their program, and their city. Shame really, considering how well Arizona played they should have been damn proud of their team, but instead sunk to an all-time low, and firmly entrenching my opinion that Arizona on average has the absolute worst, the dumbest, the most classless fans of any school I have ever seen. To storm the field prematurely, then shower the opponent with garbage after the game was just beyond classless, and after the events that had transpired in the 2007 game my opinion of them was pretty low to begin with. I know individuals don’t define the program, and Dal and Liz are both cool Arizona fans…but wow, a LOT of Arizona fans completely embarrassed their program.

Surprisingly, for as much animosity there was in the stands post-game, outside the stadium things were rather solemn. There were a few comments here and there, but for the most part everyone was just stunned over how the game had finished.

The three of us made our way back to the car, and tuned in the postgame show as they ran through the stats and the local Tucson broadcasters tried to justify it. They complimented Oregon on being a great team, complimented their own team for fighting hard, then went through possible scenarios for the remainder of the season.

When I got back to my car at Dal’s place I said my goodbyes to Dal and Liz, then tuned in to listen to more of the postgame show. It wasn’t until I reached the outskirts of Tucson that they started taking phone calls, and almost every single call didn’t address the game itself, but the postgame.

I listened to Arizona fans call in all in order profusely apologizing to Oregon and saying that they were embarrassed to be Wildcat fans and embarrassed for the city of Tucson, that the actions of a handful of thugs could absolutely embarrass the city and program the way they did. While they were proud of their team, I was surprised at how apologetic the fans were that were calling in…So I guess not all Arizona fans are jerks, just the ones in the stands in the corner endzone. Though while listening to this I kept getting flipped off for my Duck flags, and one large Ford truck tried to run me off the road. Yeah, I was very glad to be getting out of Tucson. Dal and Liz had treated me well, but outside of that my opinion of Tucson was re-affirmed that its full of classless thugs, and the closer I got to Phoenix the better off I felt.

I tried to call in to the sports talk show to give the perspective of the Oregon fan who had been there right in the heart of the post-game atrocities, but the signal started to fade as I got outside of Tucson and eventually hung up.

A quick drive back to Phoenix and I was back at Stephanie’s place around 1am, to tell her all about the disgusting display shown by the Arizona fans marring what should have been an otherwise amazing game experience.

A much longer nap, and I was back on the freeway headed back to LA, stopping at the same Mobil gas station in Quartzsite once more, and back home.

For my regular readers, it is common knowledge that I lost my Meme about 7 months ago. It is also common knowledge that I lost my Grandma last month. Two of the most important people in my life, gone, just like that. I haven’t written about it, and I’m still not ready to write about it.

I am, however, ready to write about how absolutely disgusted and ashamed I am with my family. Both sides. My mother’s and my fathers. Not everyone, and you know who you are.

I realize that these women were the corner stones of my family. They held us together. What I don’t understand is how as soon as they leave this earth, people can become so SELFISH.

A death in the family is NOT supposed to tear the rest of the family apart. If anything, we should all come TOGETHER.

Now all it consists of are bitter feelings and arguments over who gets what and why so and so didn’t consult so and so.

GROW up people.

Jeeze if my grandmothers were here you would absoultely NOT be acting this way. You are NOT making them proud. If anything, I’m sure they feel the same disgust and shame that I feel. What is the MATTER with you?

This is the first holiday season without my Grandmothers, and it’s killing me. It really is. And to make matters worse, I know that the rest of my family is falling apart when it doesn’t have to.

How dare you? How dare you let what these AMAZING women built for all these years just FALL apart because you’re too selfish to deal with it.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. I know I’m ashamed of you.

Hurts, doesn’t it?
