<p>A partir del último post, acerca de los Stuckists y su predilección por la pintura figurativa, me encontré con mucha información sobre la figuración actualmente. Incluso la curadora de la exposición previamente mencionada &#8220;<a title="NYM" href="http://artobserved.com/ao-interview-and-go-see-kathy-grayson-curator-of-new-york-minute-at-macro-future-in-rome-featuring-terence-koh-dash-snow-assume-vivid-astro-focus-banks-violette-jules-de-balincourt-nate-low/" target="_blank">New York Minute</a>&#8220;, Kathy Grayson inventó para ésta el concepto <em>Wild Figuration</em> para referirse a la tendencia actual de artistas neoyorquinos como <a title="Paper Rad" href="http://www.paperrad.org/" target="_blank">Paper Rad</a> y <a title="Arcangel" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdAJKRpP5uU" target="_blank">Cory Arcangel</a>, entre otros. Es decir, la figuración salió hace tiempo de los medios tradicionales y se reinventa en medios y formas realmente innovadoras.</p>
<p>Por otra parte, está el hiperrealismo, celebrado por su indudable técnica -cuando no se queda en intento- y no tan sorprendente en su contenido. Quizá ésta deducción sea gracias a la cotidianeidad y omnipresencia de la fotografía y su habilidad para captar la realidad excepcionalmente, pero la pintura hyperrealista contemporánea suele arrancarnos un admirativo, unos segundos de reconocimiento y poco más  - see: <a title="victor" href="http://www.artnet.com/artist/14421/victor-rodriguez.html" target="_blank">Víctor Rodríguez</a> -.</p>
<p>En cuanto a la escultura hyperrealista, dos artistas específicamente generan al menos uno minutos más de reflexión: <a title="In Bed" href="http://uknowbigsean.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/ron-mueck-in-bed.jpg?w=450&#38;h=355" target="_blank">Ron Mueck </a>y <a title="Untitled." href="http://mauriziocattelan.altervista.org/bae_cattelan_horse.jpg" target="_blank">Maurizio Cattelan</a>.</p>
<p><a title="Two Women 2005" href="http://hearingvoices.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/mueck4.jpg" target="_blank">Ron Mueck</a>, ex-colaborador de <a title="Henson" href="http://onceuponawin.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/win-pictures-jim-henson.jpg" target="_blank">Jim Henson</a>, usando materiales como fibra de vidrio, silicón, látex y poliéster, realiza figuras humanas agrandadas o miniaturas. Aquí también, el realismo extremo, la perfecta ejecución y la incredulidad natural ante las dimensiones exageradas, tienden a generar una primera opinión liviana de la obra. </p>

<p>Sin embargo, tras dar algunos pasos hacia atrás, indudablemente el comentario sobre la condición humana se hace más evidente. Históricamente fans de la <a title="Wild Man 2005" href="http://s3.artknowledgenews.com/files/RonMueckWildManCloseUp.jpg" target="_blank">monumentalidad</a>, las personas solemos esperar otras caracterísicas de nuestras efigies gigantes favoritas, no necesariamente vulnerabilidad y temor. La contradicción es simplemente imponente a los sentidos, expectativas y emociones; una disrrupción en la rutinaria experiencia museística.</p>
<p>En un campo de la realidad incluso <strong>aún más </strong>explícitamente exagerada, está <a title="Not Afraid of Love" href="http://greg.org/archive/cattelan_not_afraid_of_love.jpg" target="_blank">Maurizio Cattelan</a>. Italiano, self-taught, <em>enfant terrible</em>. Su obra suele cruzar una delgada línea de la irreverencia al humor, que permite a sus críticos desecharla rápidamente. Sin embargo, donde Mueck comenta sobre instintos humanos más elementales, Cattelan se arroja directamente a la trinchera opuesta, provocando agolpadas deducciones e impresiones visuales exaltadas que aunque desestabilizan por unos segundos, nos asientan con su porción de referencias visuales populares/tradicionales, o en el peor de los casos, con humor.</p>

<p>Cattelan utiliza símbolos con significados sumamente arraigados para la civilización: <a title="The Ninth Hour 2004" href="http://lavienbeige.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/cattelan_pope_meteor.jpg" target="_blank">El Papa</a>, <a title="Him" href="http://www.cultureteatrali.org/images/stories/cattelan.jpg" target="_blank">Hitler</a>, la <a title="Untitled 2007" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_DW_dyBBaOTQ/Sk-Tgh8TXRI/AAAAAAAAENM/p44wA65oQWQ/s400/stommeln-crucifiction-audience.jpg" target="_blank">crucifixión</a>, la crueldad animal, entre otros. Y quizá por ser de los pocos artistas a quienes la recesión no les ha afectado en absoluto, su conducta con los coleccionistas permanece coherente con su cuerpo de obra. Una comisión puede dar como resultado el torso de la <a title="Untitled (Trophy Wife)" href="http://cityfile.com/system/article_images/5780/140210.jpg" target="_blank">esposa</a> en la pared, o la <a title="Betsy" href="http://contemporaryartetc.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/cattelan_5.jpg" target="_blank">suegra</a> en el refrigerador.</p>
<p>Aunque podrían considerarse provocaciones elementales o incluso gratuitas, al avanzar su carrera y su persistente devoción a la rebeldía, Cattelan ha sabido establecer un sistema de imágenes que parecen refinarse con el paso del tiempo, afilando su concepto y encajándolo más certeramente. Su crítica a la sociedad es cada vez más refinada y obstinadamente ambigua a la vez.</p>
<p>En conclusión, dos casos de lectura figurativa sumamente universales con inseparables lazos a la cotidianeidad, nunca auto-referentes y siempre hits del art-market. Es decir <em>pretty good art -i guess- </em>simple y que suele recordar el público, independientemente de que seamos entusiastas del hiperrealismo o not so much.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><strong>På axess blogg pågår <a href="http://www.axess.se/blog/post/2009/09/05/Vad-diskuteras.aspx">en kulturkritisk diskussion </a></strong> som säger sig inte ha någonting med politik att skaffa, utan istället diskuterar den <strong>rena </strong>konsten, som väntat dock inte på något särskilt renhårigt sätt, då den i det närmaste nekrofilitiskt efterfrågar &#8220;romaner som handlar om fullkomligt fiktiva gestalter&#8221;, &#8220;romaner som försöker att få dessa gestalter att framstå som levande&#8221; &#8211; samtidigt som den populistiskt förpassar vad därutöver är till &#8220;<a href="http://www.axess.se/blog/post/2009/09/05/Vad-diskuteras.aspx">kökkenmöddingsestetiken&#8221;</a> (ordet &#8216;<a href="http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%B6kkenm%C3%B6dding">kökkenmödding&#8217; </a>upprepas tre gånger i detta inlägg); enligt Johan Lundberg en talanglös litteratur som döljer sin oskicklighet genom att skriva självbiografiskt, men ändå pålitligt kan påräkna att höjas till skyarna av en hord vänstervridna kritiker, eller &#8220;gamla 68-or&#8221; som de ömsom kallas, när de inte går under namnet &#8220;reaktionärer&#8221; vilket inträffar ifall de, som <strong>Eva Ström</strong>, med <a href="http://www.axess.se/blog/post/2009/09/05/Reaktionara-reaktioner.aspx">&#8220;sedvanliga argument från modernismens glansdagar försvarar de idag mest hyllade och uppburna författarna&#8221;. </a></p>
<p><strong>Ansvarig utgivare</strong> för<a href="http://www.expressen.se/kultur/1.1695411/med-fel-finger-i-luften"> axess blogg,<strong> Johan Lundberg</strong> </a>framstår själv som en i kökkenmöddingen fredrikskt böökande, snokande efter ytterligare smutstvättsnotor att gräva fram och hålla upp som bevis för att <a href="http://www3.lu.se/info/lum/LUM_06_96/LUM6_03_lundanazism.html">tiden är ur led </a>men bör vridas rätt av högerns <a href="http://komigenuva.wordpress.com/2009/04/13/det-ockulta-hogerspoket-gar-igen/">kulturkiropraktorer.</a> Dessa <a href="http://www.svd.se/kulturnoje/mer/kulturdebatt/artikel_3324587.svd">kvacksalvelsefulla </a> hyllningar till kitschfiguration och ren fiktion verkar endast tjäna ett enda syfte. Att mönstra ut samhällskritisk litteratur och konst till förmån för mer maktföljsam sådan, som ser till att hålla sig på den politiska mattan och låter bli att skapa några icke önskvärda förändringens vindar, som kan ruska om i de av <a href="http://sydsvenskan.se/kultur-och-nojen/article519959/Maleriet-med-bruna-toner.html">nekroromantiska riddarrustningar </a>fyllda hjärnvindlingarna dirigerade von oben från en<a href="http://www.axess.se/blog/post/2009/8/30/Roster-som-tystnar.aspx"> uppbygglighetens </a>högplatå av högerns <a href="http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hets">hetska</a> curatorer.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s voice assumes the tone called the&#8217; shout&#8217;&#8230;.jazz blow out through a Ram&#8217;s horn as bornagain <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">erasing </span>dissent  or neologisticaly: the  earasure!</p>
<p>Puleez (please), called it also figure-phagy, a figure of speech so invented.</p>
<p>In it&#8217;s ontic sense,  it is called theology of free play,  or in more serious vein: meta-ambiguation.</p>

<p>A weekend of watching televised sport renewed my thinking about momentum in sport. I thought I might illustrate my post with some images from Flickr.</p>
<p>I think about momentum as a wave (perhaps from my reading of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihaly_Csikszentmihalyi">Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi</a>) and have been contemplating for a long time now the role of probabilistic approaches to sports performance. I like the idea of a wave as it suggests tidal change.</p>
<p>The Wikipedia <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihaly_Csikszentmihalyi">article</a> on Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi notes that his concept of <strong>flow</strong> involves &#8220;being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, and thought follows inevitably from the previous one, like playing jazz. Your whole being is involved, and you&#8217;re using your skills to the utmost.&#8221;</p>

<p>Some years ago (1990 in fact!) I was thinking of writing a paper entitled <em>&#8216;Do coaches need a Gamelan rather than a Gameplan?&#8217;</em> I had seen a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamelan">Gamelan</a> in action at the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dartington_College_of_Arts">Dartington College of Arts</a> and what attracted me then was the characteristics in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamelan">this</a> description:</p>
<blockquote><p>Varying forms of gamelan ensembles are distinguished by their collection of instruments and use of voice, tunings, repertoire, style, and cultural context. In general, no two gamelan ensembles are the same, and those that arose in prestigious courts are often considered to have their own style. Certain styles may also be shared by nearby ensembles, leading to a regional style.</p></blockquote>
<p>So &#8230; whether it is jazz or gamelan music &#8230; it seems to me that athletes and coaches can have an active engagement in performance by being sensitive to rhythms. I think there are three types of rhythms in team games:</p>
<ul>
<li>Negotiating</li>
<li>Driving</li>
<li>Chasing</li>
</ul>
<p>I believe that in all three rhythms probabilistic behaviour can optimise the opportunity to drive a game and amplify that driving process. The enormous temptation when chasing, I believe, is that players seek possibilistic outcomes and abandon risk management. Clearly some teams do have a once in a lifetime experience but winning teams are able to counter most of these challenges by applying principles and probabilities. In most team games there is ample time to manage risk and probabilities so that the outcome is under your control independent of conditions and officiating.</p>

<p>Avez vous déjà côtoyé les grands espaces des régions arctiques au moins une fois dans votre vie ? En plus du climat qui fait rage,   l&#8217;impression que vous laissent la   l u m i è r e   et  les   c o u l e u r s   reste avec vous pour toujours.  Vous restez imprégné à jamais de ce &#8220;paysage intérieur&#8221; .  Et &#8211; en tant que peintre &#8211; vous passer votre temps à chercher à reproduire cette luminosité toute particulière.</p>
<p>Et lumière veut dire couleurs, dans n&#8217;importe quelle forme d&#8217;expression:</p>
<p>Depuis toujours je navigue entre  le trompe-l&#8217;oeuil, le  figuratif,  l&#8217;abstraction&#8230;(Liliane François, galerie rue de Seine, Paris appelé cela de &#8220;l&#8217;abstraction lyrique&#8221;)&#8230;  des techniques mixtes,  collage , gravure, textile;    de l&#8217;huile   à acrylique,   l&#8217;encre,   pigments divers.</p>
<p>La  PEINTURE,  la GRAVURE,  la SCULPTURE  font tous partie de mon univers d&#8217;expression.</p>
<p>Mon intérêt pour le préhistoire à travers des gravures rupestres est omniprésent.  Les archétypes mêmes sortent très clairement à travers les images d&#8217;art rupestre.   Ici les personnages et leurs actions sont réduits à leurs expressions les plus simples et plus claires et les histoires sont universelles et éternelles&#8230;</p>
<p>Les veilles statues et objets divers du monde entier font partie à cette même expression et on en trouve trace surtout dans mes gravures (voire quelques exemples plus loin)</p>
<p>Les tourbillons d&#8217; ENERGIE  qui circulent  d a n s   tout  et  à  t r a v e r s   tout  fait partie de ma recherche permanente, souvent au moyen de petites histoires apparemment anodines,  ou des personnages qui viennent parfois des époques très éloignées, mais qui racontent &#8230;..la même histoire.</p>
<p>Actuellement, je me trouve dans une période &#8220;monocorde-répétitive&#8221; (je me comprends&#8230;) voir plus loin.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Morta is one of the Fates in Roman mythology, the one who cuts the thread of life.  She will not be shown in the conventional sense, I will add my own twist to it, but much about that later. Too tired for more words today.  I see from the statistics that people like step-by-step, so tried to take pics as I went along.</p>

<p>The next stage sure was a  pain, two days&#8217; work. I had to distroy all yesterday&#8217;s work and try again today, because I didn&#8217;t want mitten hands. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Today I decided to build the fingers on wire support, but that didn&#8217;t work. These are the best hands I could make at this scale. The difficulty with mache and delicate detail is that if it&#8217;s too soft, won&#8217;t hold, if it&#8217;s too firm it will crumble or break. The only thing I can do now is sanding when dry.</p>
<p>Her face didn&#8217;t shrink too much, but small adjusting is needed. Hope she won&#8217;t use her expression. Tomorrow I&#8217;ll refine the piece and hopefully by the end of the weel she&#8217;ll be done.<img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1116" title="morta141" src="http://erikatakacs.wordpress.com/files/2009/04/morta141.jpg" alt="morta141" width="497" height="662" /></p>

<p><span style="font-family:Times New Roman;font-size:small;">Here she is with the thread of life. My story goes like this: though she does her job diligently, once in a while, when the wool drops by accident (that clumsy Nona!), with the instinct of <span> </span>a predator , she steps on it. Next she’ll take her terrible scissors, and a human dies somewhere…by accident. I tried to show the innocence of the predator with this piece, and the power. <span> </span>Right now she only has a wire in her hands. I will need a base, before covering the thread in the final position.</span></p>

<h4><span style="font-weight:normal;">A travers ces études, le collectif  Archizoom imagine des diagrammes tapés à la machine qui constituent une première tentative de représentation d&#8217;une &#8220;architecture non figurative&#8221;. Il s&#8217;agit d&#8217;une architecture abstraite et en transformation perpétuelle due aux mutations de la société. Ses différents états, reflets d&#8217;une architecture éphémère&#8217;  symbolisent ce souci de plaire et d&#8217;attirer les nouvelles générations.<br />
</span></h4>
<h4><span style="font-weight:normal;">&#8220;Les lieux ne sont plus constitués par des espaces urbains rigides mais par les expériences sensorielles et immatérielles qu&#8217;ils permettent.&#8221; L&#8217;architecture est alors vidée de son sens et développe de nouvelles dimensions, celles de la pratique et de l&#8217;expérimentation. Cette dernière n&#8217;est plus créer de façon indentifiable par manque d&#8217;intérêt mais se veut ludique et attrayante.</span></h4>

La ville n&#8217;est plus un lieu à regarder mais une condition à expérimenter.&#8221;<br />
