By Danielle Fisher, Esthetician I feel like the ‘Ghost of Christmas Past’ from A Christmas Carol is

By Danielle Fisher, Esthetician

I feel like the ‘Ghost of Christmas Past’ from A Christmas Carol is bringing me back to reflect upon my life this year…As the end of the year is rapidly approaching, I realize how much I have learned this year – not only about the medical industry and skincare – but about myself.

AIM has become so multifaceted in the services we offer, we really redefined your average Medi-Spa, and define ourselves in our own category. Our doctors and physicians assistants work really hard to keep our clients healthy and youthful looking, creating “The Total You- Inside and Out”, in a comfortable atmosphere. The compliments I have received from our patients are so flattering… They feel much more relaxed coming to AIM knowing they are going to receive the highest level of service and are assured that we really want to help them. They feel special – and so do we.

I have been exposed to a grand array of exclusive clinical grade skin treatments this year. From Velashape to Dermaroller, to laser treatments like IPL and Fraxel, and injectables like Botox, Juvederm, and Radiesse, last but not least, our skincare line Neocutis– I was able to research and better understand the medical treatments available and the science of the skin. I know more than ever before. I could compare results and see what was most effective. Most importantly, I actually saw results.

This year, I would like to give the world my perspective on things- I am genuinely ecstatic for the changes people are able to make to their physical appearance to have a positive self-image for them selves. It may be considered superficial or vain to some, but to me it is more than that. There is nothing better than be able to look in the mirror everyday and to like what you see. You can wash your face, comb your hair and walk out that door ready to bring on whatever comes your way.

If people are happy and confident, they may work harder, live better lives, and hopefully share their happiness with others. We can make this world a more spiritual, peaceful, and loving place. I wish nothing but the best for everyone

What’s in store for next year? I aim to learn more, share more, and engage more. Our new Physician’s Assistant Ana Torres is brilliant and talented. Hopefully she will train me to be the best medical esthetician in Newport Beach. Our patients can look forward to seeing stronger peels, Acne Laser treatments, and a lot of informative blogs, plus so much more!!

Happy Holidays

How does the Fraxel Laser Treatment work? The innovative Fraxel Restore Laser is specially designed

How does the Fraxel Laser Treatment work?

The innovative Fraxel Restore Laser is specially designed to alter only fractional volumes of the target tissue. Similar to precise alteration of photographs and paintings, the clinical effect of this treatment technique is to alter the appearance of aging and sun-damaged skin. The creation of tiny microscopic wounds results in a wound healing process and a response to the coagulation of collagen fibers.

What are the benefits?

After your very first Fraxel Laser Treatment, you will begin to feel the difference in your skin, as it gradually becomes softer, smoother and fresher. Fine lines around your eyes will noticeably fade. So will uneven coloring and the brown spots caused by aging and sun exposure. Fraxel is considered the treatment of choice for Acne Scarring and effective for other scars such as post traumatic or surgical scarring.

What does the Fraxel Laser treat?

Fraxel Laser is probably the best treatment available for removing acne scars (check out our Acne Scar blog for more information). Fraxel is also used to eliminate age spots/brown spots, melasma, surgical scars, stretch marks & fine facial wrinkles.

What does the treatment feel like?

Treatment is well tolerated and feels like a prickling sensation. A topical anesthetic ointment is applied prior to treatment to allay any discomfort. Highly effective treatment with minimal downtime. Results can be comparable to full resurfacing techniques.

Good news – with the innovative Fraxel Restore there are no more blue faces because there’s no more blue dye!

How long does the treatment take?

The anesthetic requires 45-60 minutes to take full effect. The treatment is then performed using the lipid base anesthetic ointment as the contact lubricant. A treatment typically will take approximately 20-25 minutes.

Is there any downtime?

Mild swelling should subside within a day or so, and redness usually fades over several days. Patients can apply make-up immediately after treatment and return to routine activities.

i want to move my blog (again). i want to move my blog because i am feeling very restless. the excit

i want to move my blog (again). i want to move my blog because i am feeling very restless. the excitement of a new address and design and possibly blogging engine (!! but it’s not like i haven’t tried probably all the *free* engines there are already..)

MOST OF ALL, I WANT TO MOVE MY BLOG BECAUSE I THINK THAT I AM BEING SLOWLY DEGRADED INTO SOMEBODY WHO WRITES ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY EMO RUBBISH.

do i hear the haters saying that moving to another blog won’t make me write better? screw you.

(sorry i couldn’t come up with a better comeback -_- HAHAH)

ANYWAY.

i have come to the conclusion that my best posts are written when i am feeling particularly bitchy or unnaturally frank. HOWEVER, i cannot be bitchy/frank/sarcastic because i have to watch what i write. and when i want to say what i cannot say i end up being all cryptic. and i cannot be openly cryptic (oxymoron, duh) without resorting to very generic and emo phrases and statements. like this, from one of my very recent posts:

I know how it’s like. I’ve never felt what you felt – and I’m sorry that you have to feel that way. I’ve never felt anything close to what you’ve been feeling but what I felt was enough to crush me and make me feel like going to sleep and not waking up again. What I felt was enough to make me want to destroy everything in my life and walk away from it all and to sit in a corner and cry.

like omg la. quite pretentious la can. bleargh.

and THIS.

I talk of butterflies being crushed. I’d never have thought that I would ever end up being that butterfly.

and THIS

Am I happy that you’re happy? Not yet, but I know that I will be, one day. Because you, more than anybody, deserve to finally be truly happy.

ok i am going to stop because i am making myself sick.

i tried to look for some better pieces of writing but all of them are either too blatant or too vulgar (HAHAHA) and/or too incriminating.

and i guess it’s really what it is.

i am sorry that i have not mastered the art of truly skillful writing (although i’m not actually sure who i’m apologising to, this is my blog after all…) and i admit that this is a pretty lame excuse for copping out. but i simply cannot be myself here anymore (cheh speaking like a lot of people read my blog HAHA. whatever la give me my 5 mins of delusional fame can) and it shouldn’t feel like this because what good is a blog if you can’t express yourself on it? why should i continue blogging if every word i type is subject to scrutiny and every statement carefully picked apart, (mis)analysed and distorted? why should i be held accountable for (okla i mean those were my words so i memang should be held accountable for them to a certain extent) what certain things i have written mean?

i don’t blog because i want to end up editing and protecting my posts in fear of repercussions. i don’t blog because i want to explain myself to you (after i hit “publish”). i blog because i am actually also very narcissistic and want the world to know what i’m thinking. HAHA. and because i can be bitchy and write about other people who annoy me and share my opinions with other like-minded people like tansweeleen. HAHAHAHA. and also because i like the way my pictures look on my blog after i put them up. it makes me feel very good and somewhat slightly more professional than i actually am. ok i am going to stop praising myself. most of all, i blog because i like reading (most of) my writing. i feel like i can relate to what i read (HAHAHA DUH COS I WROTE THEM but you don’t get what i mean la cos i am being semi ironic/humourous here, lawl) and i find myself less and less capable of doing that as i reread my most recent entries. i cannot relate to anything if all i am reading are sentences so heavily encrypted that i cannot remember what/who i was talking about and emoness so thick and cliched that all i want to do is to slap myself for writing. -_-

more importantly, i cannot relate to anything if i constantly feel manipulated. i cannot relate to something that i didn’t want to (not) write in the first place. i cannot live with anybody dictating the content on my blog.

(and yes i realise that i do sound a little dramatic HAHAH sorry dramatic writing is my forte. )

this is no good at all.

is it weird if i said something like rereading my past entries makes me feel less “alone” because it’s as though “somebody else” has gone through the same shit as i have…?

i suppose it would be slightly twisted.

and it wouldn’t make a whole lotta sense.

haha.

ok. anyway. so i am hereby annoucing (another) hiatus lasting for an indefinite period of time. (hahaa see la later i end up blogging here again tomorrow. LOL. but highly unlikely la cos i am really very sien liao.)

oh look ok i found an attempt at haiku:

ETERNAL SUMMER

Outside my garden
A lone tree weeps, silently.
A leaf falls, teardrop.

hahaha. inspired by a tree outside my garden. HAHAHAH. ok i must stop this lameness.

ok then. bye for now.

(i’ll probably blog one more entry about my new laptop <3 in about 2 weeks’ time i suppose. other than that… i think i’ll just go somewhere else. lalalala. YAY FOR FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION! YAY TO THE END OF MINDGAMES AND MANIPULATION! YAY FOR LIBERATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wth -_-)

heehee. HAVE A GOOD LIFE PEOPLE. i sure as (bleep) will.

PS. i honestly also suspect that all of this is happening also because i am a rather easily excitable being. -_- i cannot just dump my blog after 5 years! homg has it been 5 years. O_O CANNOT LAH I CANNOT TAHAN ALREADY I MUST DO SOMETHING WITH SOMETHING. and this time, the blog has to go (again). lmao. ok bye.

there would be a much more substantial (i’ve been using this word a lot lately, lol) post here if it were not for this:

zombies from the “future”! HAHA.

hello, my name is michelle (chorus: hi michelle!) and i am a plants vs zombies addict. plants vs zombies has been the focus of my life for the past three days and i am leaving my zen garden on in the background as i type. i have just gotten a snail for my garden! (polite applause)

i find farming money while playing the last stand a productive waste of time. i find the decapitation of zombies therapeutic to look at and i love it when the newspaper zombie loses his paper and looks up quizzically, with a question mark above his head, just a few microseconds before his head pops off. i find myself staring at my screen as my gloom-shrooms and garlic and tall-nuts and magnets destroy wave after wave after wave of zombies.

i used to be addicted to beghouled and i would be playing that instead of the last stand but it got boring after a while because i realised that the most i could was only to upgrade all my wall-nuts and peashooters and puff-shrooms and get 75 matches.

however, i realise that i cannot go on like this and i am going to stop being so obsessed with plants vs zombies. i promise that i will not stare at the screen as i farm money during the last stand and only check it periodically while i do something else that is truly productive like read a (real) book in case my garlic needs replacing.

thank you.

-

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. omg so can die. HAHAHA.

i just grew a tree of wisdom and i realised that i didn’t actually have to waste like 10k + (multiples of) 2.5k to get a piece of advice ben could have just given me for FREE. -_-

okla i am going to sleep. -_-

PS. actually not bad lo the formation that i’m using (okla ben thought of it cos i suck at like strategising and planning – NONETHELESS MY HIGHEST STREAK FOR ENDLESS I, ZOMBIE IS 7 AND I AM DAMN PROUD OF IT. heehee.) – i get about 5k+ each game…

PPS. if anybody who plays plants vs zombies reads this and has a better way of farming, pleaaaaaaaase tell meeeeee

Millions of men and women opt for dermal fillers and injectables such as Zyderm, Zyplast, Botox, Res

Millions of men and women opt for dermal fillers and injectables such as Zyderm, Zyplast, Botox, Restylane and Juvederm to fill out lines and wrinkles, smooth out sagging skin and enhance their appearance.

The popularity of the ‘liquid facelift’ has encouraged many surgeons and aesthetic surgery professionals to sell more products that offer a quick fix for lines and wrinkles, and demand for brans including CosmoDerm, Dermalogen and Dysport has increased significantly over the past ten years.

Now, a wrinkle cream that has been deemed the world’s best topical collagen delivery system claims to offer results similar to injectables.

Dermaxin is the world’s leading anti-wrinkle cream, an all-natural collagen cream that penetrates deep into the skin within the first ten minutes after application. According to studies conducted by Dermaxin researchers, most people saw an overall reduction of wrinkles within the first 4 to 12 weeks of daily use (up to a 44% difference).

Since most injections cost between $500 to $1000 per series, Dermaxin offers a more affordable solution for getting rid of wrinkles, and does not require touchup treatments and appointments at a doctor’s office. Some people who are allergic to the toxic compounds in many injectables or those who experience burning and irritation at the injection site may be good candidates for a topical wrinkle treatment instead.

According to Dermaix spokesperson Teresa Richards, “Dermaxin uses is the most powerful delivery system in the world – Hyaluronic Acid – to penetrate the folds of the ski and supply collagen to the deep dermal layers…the same instantaneous wrinkle-busting and smoothing effect found with injections is also achieved –within the first ten minutes of using the product – thanks to the power of Acetyl Hexapeptide08, a proven facial-relaxing compound and wrinkle remover that provides results similar to those of Botox, but without any of the associated risks.” (Source: Dermaxin Press Release)

Another year, another Christmas and another round of trying to find the perfect gift for the people

Another year, another Christmas and another round of trying to find the perfect gift for the people in your life. We all know that many people are not big fans of clothes shopping, so why not give them a hand, by storing some clothing accessories for men for Christmas.

Clothing accessories take many forms, so you could see the situation, something suitable for the less fashion conscious men, if your husband likes his "bling-bling" earrings, a necklace or Geminia good choice. Or, for fashionistas, how about some skinny with braces are back on the podium?

Belts are another load of people, which tends to reduce a friendly game, people do not seem to be large enough to be included in general very positive. With a wide choice of colors, shapes, materials and curls, why not buy a selection of dresses to complement your husband?

The old cliché of Christmas – Socks – are actually quite a useful gift, and though it might not be soexciting as the latest gadgets, at least one pair of socks will be used again, a week after Christmas, unlike radio-controlled miniature helicopter, which has already been relegated to the back of the cupboard, never see the light of day until when the store gave charity.

Men's scarves and gloves are always a good choice because they are a very functional objects (which also look good!) The desire to keep out the cold period of the year have been particularlyestimated. A hat CAP also welcomes this duo – and is perfect for all types of outdoor activities. There are several styles that are popular today, the pointed hat is perfect for the young skaters, chap dressed the doll with pompoms and a Peruvian knit cap will keep your ears warm in colder climates.

Even if they are women who have a reputation for hoarding bags are so many guys (lovers wardrobe bag, even if you do not want to admit that without a doubt) and will be pleased to receivenew backpack, purse back, purse or travel bag record.

If you think your husband needs a little 'more punctual in his life, who see it as a fashion accessory to be seen. They can buy a relatively low cost and then the boys to a selection of spare time have worn different clothes.

So, with Christmas just around the corner in a hurry, time is ripe to take stock of Stocking Fillers for your husband, belts, bags and hats, you should be able to find something that even the fashionpeople aware can be proud to wear.

Dermal fillers make up the most significant part of the injectable market not only in San Diego but

Dermal fillers make up the most significant part of the injectable market not only in San Diego but across the United States. Every year more and more development occurs and that’s good for the consumer. Radiesse is one in the line of fillers that has received FDA approval thereby assuring the patient of its efficacy and safety.

Injectables fillers remain popular in the marketplace for several reasons. They are affordable. They are noninvasive. They only require an office visit so there is no “down time”. And, results are quickly noticeable. You can have your treatment done and go on about your day.

Radiesse has a variety of uses on the face. These include smoothing and contouring nasolabial folds and smile lines, vertical lip lines, and providing more definition to the lips. Radiesse remains soft and takes on the characteristics of the tissue around the area in which it is used. Because this product enhances natural collagen production in the skin new soft tissue gradually replaces the Radiesse over time.

Radiesse is based on an calcium microsphere technology. The microspheres are suspended in a natural gel that can be injected into the skin. Since Calcium is a natural part of our bodies Radiesse does not require allergy testing prior to use. Radiesse stimulates the skin to produce new collagen which is a benefit of this product.

As with most other fillers results are not permanent but Radiesse does last significantly longer than most. The results on patients usually last at least a year and sometimes even several years. This makes the treatment attractive to patients because it saves time and money in the long run.

Usually with dermal fillers a mild localized anesthetic is used to minimize any discomfort. The side effects from fillers tend to be minimal and can include swelling and bruising. After Radiesse treatments you should avoid activities that would strain or stimulate your facial muscles such as massage or a facial. You want the injected areas to remain relatively undisturbed for a period of about 48 hours.

We believe that only doctors should administer injectables to patients and that you seek out either a board certified plastic surgeon or a board certified dermatologist. We advise this standard of care as physicians have specialized knowledge of facial anatomy and are experienced in injection techniques. And, one of the strongest advantages of one of a board certified dermatologist or a board certified plastic surgeon doing your injection is that they can advise you on product choice. There are a number of dermal fillers and so judgment on which filler product is best for you is very important. The advice of an experienced physician will help you make that choice.

Note: The specific risks and the suitability of Radiesse for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation with a physician. All procedures have some degree of risk. The information provided here is not a substitute for a consultation.

I guess it all boils down to how much certain things matter.

I actually think that there is a quota for things like these, it’s sorta like how the (for the lack of a better word) “friendship” you’ve accumulated over the period of time you’ve been friends becomes an emergency reserve – a buffer, if you will, for all the rough patches. Friends don’t just stop being friends anymore every time an argument pops up because you end up dipping into the friendship “fund” and sustaining what’s left of the friendship (at that moment) with what’s available.

One day that fund is going to run empty…

… and you’re going to feel that you just cannot go on anymore, and this is when you start saying your goodbyes.

well okla i suppose you can still try to run on an empty tank. but it’s not going to be a joyride.

those are the ones that suck you dry and leave you feeling drained and sien and dreadful.

(these are the friendships i maintain out of courtesy and paisehness more than anything else, and i’ve just about had enough -_-)

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn’t feel good, and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking I learned most of life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

If you want to improve your looks, there are a number of ways to do it without plastic surgery. Thes

If you want to improve your looks, there are a number of ways to do it without plastic surgery. These methods are known as “non-surgical injectables,” and thousands of people use them every year to clean up blemishes, erase wrinkles, and feel better about their appearance and themselves. There are three options most people choose from.

Botox involves a series of injections that relax the muscles which cause wrinkles in your face. With less muscle contraction, you will have fewer wrinkles. At this point, Botox is one of the most trusted non-surgical cosmetic surgery methods.

There are a variety of benefits to Botox injections. First, you can be in and out of the doctor’s office in no time. The procedure usually takes as little as 30 minutes. There is very little pain involved in Botox treatments. Usually there is some slight discomfort. Sometimes a topical anesthetic is used. The most appealing aspect of this procedure is that it leaves no scars. Finally, results are visible in just a few short days.

Let’s be honest. Every procedure has drawbacks. For example, if you don’t keep going for Botox shots, the wrinkles will come back in as little as four months. You also have to continue your Botox treatments indefinitely to see results. Possible side effects include temporarily drooping eyelids and nausea. In some rare cases patients have allergic reactions.

Chemical Peels are treatments where chemicals are applied to your face and removed. The purpose is to take off the uppermost fine layers of skin that contain blemishes. There are several types of chemicals for different types of cases.

Some people don’t like injections. Instead, they consider the benefits of chemical peels. Different varieties of this treatment can be used for different conditions, including acne, aging, rough or dry skin, uneven pigmentation, growths due to cancer, and more.

Depending on the depth of the peel, the procedure can take as little as 15 minutes. The chemical peel is a long-lasting treatment, depending on your situation. For many, no further treatment is needed after the initial peels are done.

Some drawbacks of having a chemical peel include an increase in the number of treatments you need. The more peels you get, the more you will need to have them to keep your skin the way you want.

The chemicals must be handled carefully, especially phenol which carries a slight risk of heart problems, and peels could permanently remove facial freckles.

There is also a healing period and your skin will need to adjust to the chemical treatment over time. While the healing period is quick, with phenol peels, healing may take up to several months.

Before you commit to this treatment, though, make sure that the cosmetic surgeon performing the operation is a qualified surgeon. There have been cases of people offering chemical peels as some kind of miracle cure, and in many states it is legal for a non-licensed individual to do chemical peels.

Yet another option is dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are injections of various natural hormones that augment lips, remove acne, fill wrinkles, and have a variety of other effects. This is the newest method, and the market is now flooded with different products promising different results.

Dermal fillers are still relatively new, but they do have noticeable benefits. There is a wide variety of dermal fillers on the market, designed to treat virtually everything. Dermal fillers are much more natural than other cosmetic surgery options. Some dermal fillers last up to five years, but others (such as Collagen) last for under six months.

There are drawbacks you should know about when considering dermal fillers. For one thing, they are still quite expensive.

There are so many filler options, it can be difficult to decide which is best. Among the most popular are Collagen and Restylane. It is very important to talk to your doctor for his or her expert advice before deciding on a dermal filler.

Which method is best for you is a tough decision to make. Get a consultation with an experienced cosmetic surgeon and discuss with them which option you think is best. It never hurts to have an expert opinion.

This is the longest festive season in India, which started with Id and Dusshera and now going on to

This is the longest festive season in India, which started with Id and Dusshera and now going on to Diwali and New Year. There is celebration all around and nobody wants to be left out of the party. Looking good is definitely a big part of the celebrations and we have been doing that traditionally with new clothes and accessories. But there is only so much you can do with clothes and jewelry, ultimately they can only compliment the face and body.

There is definitely a departure from the conservative definition of being ready for an occasion now; people are gladly seeking cosmetic treatments to enhance their face and body.

Non surgical methods like Botox, fillers are definitely more sought after during these days, along with an increase in demand for procedures like body sculpting and breast jobs” says Dr. Mohan Thomas, Medical Director of The Cosmetic Surgery Institute in India and Founder President of the Indian Society of Cosmetic Surgery and the Academy of Anti Ageing Medicine, Mumbai/New York.

He adds “Botox is used for erasing the wrinkles on the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet as well us for non surgical face rejuvenation by way of Botox brow lift and neck lift. The effects are seen in one week and last for a good 6 months. Inject able fillers are also hugely popular for softening deep lines and for lip plumping and filling of under eye hollows. This is a procedure with instant gratification and the effects last for up to one year.”

Dimples can be created by a simple surgery and the requests for dimples are a lot more during this time. Probably Bollywood stars with dimples have contributed greatly to this craze now.

Body Liposuction and breast enhancements are always popular, but the there is a sudden spurt in demand. Breast implants are being done by girls barely in their twenties, of course with their parent’s knowledge. The “good cleavage” is the most common aesthetic end point sought by girls seeking breast enhancement. The surgery is a day care procedure; and most activities can be resumed in 2-3 days. Chin implants and butt implants are also gaining popularity although butt implants need at least 2 weeks of recovery time.

The availability of premium care in cosmetic surgery at par with global standards is making people avail of the surgical options without hesitation. The awareness level also has increased significantly thanks to the internet and word of mouth publicity.
