Yeah I know I posted some time ago about why I don`t like FF13 but, I like to be fair and now that I`m spending some time with the game it has started to grow on me. So here are 10 reasons you like FF13 in no particular order.

1. Graphics – They look very nice and clean. Great detail with no jagged edges as far as I know.
2. Anime Inspired Characters – Yeah the characters all act like the same stereotypical characters but if you love anime you will like this game too.
3. Same FF Story Progression – Villains try and take over, heroes join together to save the world. It sounds boring but its only half of the complete game experience and if you are not tired of that kinda story then jump for joy.
4. Kinda Plays Like FF12 – There are some elements that fans of the previous FF will like. So don`t write off the notion that developers wished FF12 didn`t exists.
5. Doesn`t Play Like FF12 – For those that really hated or just was disspointed with FF12 gameplay or story  well you will be much happier with this game. Personally though I loved FF12 and anyone that thought it was disappointing because of gameplay is a tosser.
6. GamePlay – Something old and something new in gameplay has been the reason Final Fantasy has been so successful.
7. Female Characters – In any FF game their is always at least one female the boys can all drool over. This time we get alot of them. So guys better get some buckets  ready.
8. Male Characters – OK so their are many good looking female characters but, there is some male characters women and men will like. I personally like Snow cause he is not the whinny young male lead we seen in past FF games.
9. Summons – Yeah so they can transform but, its at least something different and I can admire that.
10. Game Length – I heard the game is between 60-80 hrs long. In this day and age RPGs would usually be a standard 40. So as long as the story keeps its pace it will  be a great experience to have the game be longer.

Oh the internet!  What will we do with you!?! You always tend to over react when a console maker patents a new trademark especially when it resembles the name of your current system…just only a little different.  Welcome to trademark protection.  I must say though, I’ve been really enjoying my Wii during the holiday season even if it is only for 2 main reasons: fitness and entertaining guests.  Despite all the external pressures to introduce a HD friendly system, so far Nintendo stayed firm to continue to ride the current Wii wave which still has a higher install base than any other system this generation…so what’s the rush?

Right about now, Heavy Rain is my most anticipated game of 2010.  Recently, Sony held a press event in New York allowing guests to play further into the upcoming Sony exclusive. Love it or hate it the game is set to take you on an emotional journey.

So the next big thing in home entertainment will be 3D.  With the groundbreaking success of AVATAR, Sony prepping 3D enabled PS3 games, and NVIDIA already offering 3D enabled PC games, the Blu-Ray Association has just released specifications for Blu-Ray 3D.  Oh wait…I have to buy a new HDTV that supports 3D?  I just bought a new HDTV!…at least the PS3 will be able to support the new format.

 Think about that though – visually appealing. It dosen’t necessarily mean the most technically advanced, and points regarding the 360/PS3’s differences aside I feel we’re forgetting what made the Final Fantasy series so popular in the first place. The most important aspects of any game like this are the story and gameplay. The design is also an integral part but the fact is a few polygons missing off an otherwise amazingly designed character isn’t going to make me lose any sleep so long as that character is well developed and interesting. I think the Persona games are a good example of this, with a great deal of character development and a visual style that looks great despite being firmly grounded in the previous generation.

Another related issue causing much angst is the fact that the 360 version will almost certainly be released on multiple discs – but really you have to ask why that’s such a problem. If you can’t get off your arse once every 40 hours or so to swap a disc over then you should probably put the whole thing down and get out of the house anyway before your fat fucking rectum becomes fused to the furniture. Besides, consoles have hard drives. Yes you heard, nice big hard drives you can likely install the whole thing onto anyway.

 The same people worrying their little heads about the possibility (and that’s precisely all that it is right now) that a cross platform release will degrade the visual quality of their game are forgetting that the majority of them swear by FFVII as being the greatest game of all time – this, ladies and gentlemen is a game that had field characters with blocks for hands that were bigger than their fucking heads. And don’t tell me it looked good for the PS1 either as we all know graphically speaking FFVIII pissed all over it.

 So in conclusion, don’t worry your little heads over it, because if Famitsu’s 39/40 review of the japanese release is anything to go by, we’re all in for a treat.

Final Fantasy 13 has been officially released in Japan! Japanese game stores have been crowded with people and have been selling like crazy. Though I do not know the numbers right now, I would estimate to about 900,000 copies sold already. If you don’t know what Final Fantasy is, let me tell you what it is. Final Fantasy has been famous for its long story and numerous discs for install. It is a role-playing game(RPG) in epic proportions. The Final Fantasy series has been a Sony Playstation trademark title ever since the release of the PS1. However, Final Fantasy 13 has been announced for PS3 and Xbox 360. The once only Playstation title is now a multiplatform title with the Xbox 360. In my opinion, I love the RPG aspects of any game but especially don’t like Japanese RPGs because of their length and awkward storylines. Hey this is my opinion so don’t get picky on me, so not have comments or mail.OK.

So, its official. I’ve signed up for the Final Fantasy XIV beta. Why? Because I’m a masochist at heart. I say this because I’ve played Final Fantasy XI…on three separate occasions. I left that game with the exact same thought every time: “Why, oh why would I subject myself to this grind-fest?” Then I remember: I’m a Final Fantasy nerd. You know, the kind that’s played through FF7 multiple times, has beaten every Final Fantasy, and even played imports of the first three. One thing you have to give this series is that they change the gameplay mechanics with every sequel they make. Its not like many of the first-person shooters or JRPG’s out there, where they take the same, outdated system and slap a fresh coat of paint and different story on it. This is like an amalgamation of that. Same basic plotline, but with different gameplay and different characters slapped on it.

Unfortunately for me, I have terrible luck with MMO betas.  For some reason, game developers just don’t want me to test their games. I’ve signed up for the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta test, but have heard nothing back yet. Same goes for Alpha Protocol, but I have a feeling I’m not missing much. Oh well. Here’s to hoping that I make it in this time…

Today is a big day for gaming community in Japan. And as you might have guessed from reading the title of this post, it’s the release day of the 13th installment of Final Fantasy. And I gotta say, this game’s advertisement is unbelievable, you’ll see posters of this game in every corner of Japan, even every 7/11 stores took pre-orders for this game. Just about the craziest game advertisement I ever see here ^_^

So, did I buy one? Nope, I didn’t. Granted, as someone who played FF since FF VI, I used to want one, but the gameplay didn’t excite me one bit. Seemed to me, since Squaresoft joined with Enix, they only thought of making profit, so they stopped innovating the gameplay department. I would be happy if I were to be proven wrong, but from what I’ve seen from trailers and gameplay videos, FF XIII’s gameplay is only a little tweaked turn-based system. Heck, even FF VIII seemed a lot more creative than this. I get this bad feeling that FF XIII only offers a mediocre story, superb graphics, so-so characters, and not so interesting gameplay -____-

I’ll stop bashing this game since I haven’t even touched the demo or the retail version. But still, I’m not going to buy this until I’m proven wrong about the gameplay. Some might say that for an RPG, story is the biggest consideration, but for me, gameplay is always Numero Uno. I’ve been playing games for about 20 years, so far, the stories of RPG is still the same old, same old (except for SO3 with is quite creative). But as for gameplay, it’s always evolving, like Star Ocean series, Tales series, and also Kingdom Hearts series. So when I play an RPG, if there’s a chance of something I’m going to perceive as new, that’s gotta be the gameplay. No story in RPG lately could make me hold my breath ^_^ I’m talking about JRPG here of course, since I never played western RPGs

Anyway, for now, my priorities in RPG buying is End of Eternity, Star Ocean Last Hope International. and finally FF 13. End of Eternity is the one that I want to play the most for now though ^_^

omg I first knew this song through people debating over leona lewis’s my hands==

as you all know this is the japanese theme song of final fantasy 13

there are people saying that this is far better than my hands

BUT!!! I don’t think it’s a very fabulous song, at least by now

WHY?

FIRST, I don’t think this song’s lyrics is a unique one

at first sight the lyrics don’t seem to be written for ff13 exclusively

it seems like some random emotional expression

yes it may be written through a character very special from the game

but when I listen to the song, will I be able to recall the story of ff13?

(sorry, my comments may change when I finish the game:P)

SECOND, this song is less touching

if anyone had listen to ff10, ff12, and ff7ac’s theme song, you’ll know what I mean

cause ff has been doing touching endings until now, the whole scene would be ruined if the song just doesn’t fits into it

in my opinion, I think this song’s melody is the same as inserts

but overall

I STILL PREFER THE JAPANESE ONE OVER THE ENGLISH ONE

This week we saw a bevy of new trailers for games announced at the 2009 VGAs.  We also see news concerning two Japanese heavyeights with Final Fantasy 13 and Yakuza 3.  Not to be outdone, Canada had it’s share of siginificant tech news with Bell announcing the North American debut (yes that includes U.S.) of a new Nokia handset.

Final Fantasy XIII not so perfect

The Saboteur Review
I’ve been playing this new sandbox title throughout the weekend and reading the mixed reviews that have been popping up on the internet ever since.  The Ars review captures what I feel about the game the most; though not without its technical flaws and some shoddy writing, the game lures you with its unique artistic style and is just plain fun. A more than respectable final game to the now closed Pandemic Studios.

Tony Hawk Stands by his game
Activision will most likely be awarded with the highest selling game release this year with Modern Warfare 2.  But that’s not to say Activision had a few sales duds this year more notably so far with DJ Hero and Tony Hawk Ride.  Unlike DJ Hero that was generally well received, Tony Hawk Ride was panned by critics leading the man himself to step up and defend his namesake.  It could just be peripheral fatigue though…

The idea of FFXIII box art for a Xbox 360 version may have been a ridiculous premise 3 years ago, but then E3 2008 came along with one of the biggest surprise announcements ever.  Though only multiplatform outside of Japan (where it’s pretty much guaranteed to sell a million easy), the revelation of the official box art today serves as a reminder that that the North American release is just  around the corner (March 2010) for the more console diverse market.

The box art itself  is pretty much what you’d expect out of a Final Fantasy cover with a minimalist white theme, the traditional logo customized to reflect the story of this installment, and a main character looking off into the distance towards the journey ahead.  Yeah..looks about right.  Sean C.

Final Fantasy 13 erscheint in ein paar Wochen auf den japanischen Markt für die PS3. I read an article earlier today on www.psxextreme.com, and it was about FF13 and how it’s going to run in 720p while fighting and all that fun junk which is awesome, butt here’s where it gets even more sweet.

During the cutscenes (which granted there will probably be a lot of) are going to be in 1080p!! Holy crap that is what i’m talking about! . And at the end they even mentioned that FF13 was initially developed for the PS3 so that’s just more proof that the 360 version won’t be as good.

Yeah so a new amazing Final Fantasy 13 Trailer was released like yesterday and I saw it this morning and have probably watched it like 20 times since then till now. Really got me pumped for the game. Check it out!

Auf der offiziellen Seite zum Spiel ist ab sofort der endgültige pre-launch Trailer zu Final Fantasy 13 zu sehen. Den Clip findet Ihr hier. Neben sehr langen Dialogen in leicht überzogener (Anime-)Dramatik werden auch viele eigentliche Spielszenen gezeigt. Sehr bunt, schrill, kitschig und absolut japanisch – und optisch sehr beeindruckend.

In Nordamerika und Europa erscheint das Spiel im März für PS3 und Xbox 360.

Diablo III won’t be coming out for at least another year. Now, I’m sad that this game of biblical proportions won’t be out in 2010(or possibly 2011), but nothing warms my sick, dark heart quite like the tears of fanboys everywhere.

Why does it warm my heart so? Fanboys of anything are borderline-bipolar when it comes to the things they love. They will defend their favorite products and companies from negative thoughts thrown from reviewers or friends as though they were defending their children from pedophiles. But, if the creator or developer of said products changes something about those products, the fanboys will turn on the developers so fast, unleashing a steaming vitriol in the form of a boycott or an angry email. So, it’s because of this hypocrisy they display that I revel in their despair.

Couple quick things: This game may very well ruin my life when it comes out. Finally, a giant cactuar for your viewing pleasure/horror. Enjoy.

So if you have been paying attention to whats been going on with Final Fantasy XIII (which happens to look like one piece of sexy), you may have heard that their theme song is actually going to be the song “My Hands” by Leona Lewis. And yes, I’m sure that there are some people out there who are very surprised.
From what I have noticed, several people have had the reaction “OMG NO WAAAAIIIII!!?!?11/111///”. And yes, I think I do understand part of this reaction. I do find it a bit awkward how the American version of FFXIII was going to have a big pop artist sing this song. However, I swear, what bothered me the most was that it didn’t even seem to be about the song itself.
It seemed people were into “auto HAET and RAEG mode about Square Enix’s choice because it was actually a western pop artist, not a jpop artist.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I really get annoyed when it’s like this. Why is it that suddenly anything popular here suddenly sucks to the rest of the internet and the world? Sometimes, it feels like people automatically hate anything labeled with the word “popular” on it. Yes, I’ll admit I am a bit hypocritical about what I’m posting right now, but lets just call this a free write, got it?
Actually, I just realized there just seems to be a lot of hate going on everywhere about music. The US hates a whole bunch of the popular music here, either because it “sucks”, or it’s popular, or that it actually DOES suck (very rare case). And then we also end up hating the Jpop and Kpop world. And this kind of dislike, I can sort of understand, because a lot of singers in Asia have very questionable skills (then again, it’s like that here in the US, but it’s a different story). But I think a lot of that hate also comes from all the raging fan girls, freaks, and people that make Japan and Korea look like a land full of losers going “OMG, KAWAII DESU NE~~~ and SARANGHAE!~~~”.

GAH, I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE I’M GOING WITH THIS POST ANYMORE.

So lets just make life easier, and make a short review on the theme song!

When I first listened to My Hands, I automatically fell in love with the song, and that love is still growing. Leona Lewis has a somewhat distinctive voice that also has that “power” to it to allow her to sing power ballads, just like the one right here. However, the one issue I only really have with this song involves the first verse. Actually, I’m kinda at a lost to this. On one side, I LOVE the raspiness of her voice and the sudden entrance of the chorus. On the other side, I also dislike those things. So I don’t know, you decide whether you like it or not. However, after the first chorus, the song definitely gets much smoother and much more consistent. I can’t over how much I love the chorus of the song. It’s very gospel-like and inspirational, especially with all those beats in the background that sound like a huge congregation clapping together. Leona gives a very strong and convincing vocal performance. The song may be a tad cliché and typical, but what isn’t nowadays? My Hands is still quite a piece of work.
I’m sure that a lot of you are thinking “This can’t be a Final Fantasy theme song!” However, I think you really need to give the song a chance. Listen to it a few more times, and pay attention to the lyrics. In a way, it sounds like they’re actually narrating Lightinings life. In addition to that, the most I listen to it, the more I can easily imagine it working with FFXIII. Besides, no one can really make a good judgment until we actually see the scene this song plays in.

Tras la noticia de la fecha de salida de Final Fantasy XIII en Japón para el 17 de diciembre de este año, Square Enix vino con la sorpresa de un nuevo tráiler en el que hablaban varios de los componentes del equipo de desarrollo del juego que nos contaron con la participación de Leona Lewis con su canción “ My Hands ” de su nuevo disco Echo como tema principal de la versión occidental de Final Fantasy XIII al final de dicho video se muestra la fecha de estreno de este videojuego que no nos hará esperar demasiado como en antiguas entregas. Dicha fecha es el 03.09.2010.

Keine Frage: die persönliche Vorfreude auf diesen Titel drückt sich sicherlich durch meine vielen Posts zum Spiel aus. Aber andererseits kann man derart schöne Screenshots keinem Videospieler vorenthalten. Das ehrenwerte japanische Spielemagazin Famitsu hat eine ganze Reihe solch reizvoller Bilder online gestellt. Das Gezeigte gefällt sehr gut – und macht das Warten bis März 2010 umso unerträglicher.
