Image : http://www.flickr.com Men are generally reluctant to spend money for quality care than women

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Men are generally reluctant to spend money for quality care than women to be. This is likely to have the best lotions and potions, earned the women in the last few hundred years ago, proved. Some might argue that there is nothing in these treatments, but he is a stupid person considered. There must be something more that men do on a regular basis to be a better example in nursing interventions can be made.

Here, we concentrate on the finger nail care.

Clean fingerNails are for the modern man is essential. If you are in a profession that regularly gets his nails dirty, start a process if you are not already on the laundry clean nails every day. Some men care for their nails during her shower time – a reasonable option if it is not a lack of water, but a better way of cleaning the nails, clean it immediately before or after the shower. Use a fingernail brush – they are health, chemistry and pharmaceuticals available to businesses.

The Trimming and care of fingernails is the next. Weekly Trimming nails with a nail clipper or scissors is usually sufficient. The nails should never be more than an eight inch (or 3 mm) in length. Cut off the tips of the nails, and some of the pages, but not so far into the spikes. File the edges of the nail with an emery board or file until they are at a comfortable length. Cuticle is the outermost layer of skin that rises above the nail, if the surface and> Nail grows dry up the cuticles and ragged. It should not be pushed away, but to do with a few drops of a good cuticle oil and a cotton swab to the pressure on the upper finger joint. Caring for the cuticle would have happened if necessary – it is for everyone else. This process may save some pain at a later date.

When the cuticle is too much stuff, at least not the crop and registration! It's a start, but do not forget to have your BookNails.

These treatments can be obtained form any decent men's manicure suppliers, but it is also cheaper by themselves. All you need is a basic manicure set and the cuticle oil. Your partner will show you thankful for the care for your nails!

Manicure sets are available form of health, chemistry and pharmacology, most shops and online. The possibilities are endless, online, but make sure that you do business with a reputable seller.

The defacto standard on smart phone keyboards are QWERTY. The layout was derived from the traditional desktop keyboard and so the mobile user can easily make the finger to thumb transition when on the fly. Those days may be a thing of the past. Swype Inc. is set to debut a new technology that doesn’t isn’t your run of the mill clicking/pressing of miniature buttons on your touchscreen phone’s soft-keyboard.

Instead of tapping, you use your finger to “swipe” from letter to letter to increase typing speed.

Let’s watch a video shall we?

Does it make you want it in your precious iPhone? You can’t have it. The technology will arrive in Samsung’s Omnia II touchscreen smart phone on Verizon. The Omnia II goes on sale December 2, so it isn’t long before we start “swyping.”

Here’s another video demonstrating how text can be inputted much faster than on the iPhone

The ‘Moon whorl’ a common characteristic in Down syndrome & schizophrenia

The ‘whorl on the mount of Moon’ (a.k.a. the ‘hypothenar whorl’) is known as one of the mysterious characteristics that can only sometimes be found in the human hand. In 1943 Cummins & Midlo reported in their famous ‘Finger Prints, Palms & Soles’ statistics for a sample of 1281 German males. They found the ‘true whorl’ on the hypothenar in only 0.7% of right hands and 0.5% of left hands!

What do we know about the ‘Moon whorl’?

A few quote from the original article:

“While the classic palmistry literature describes that the ‘hypothenar whorl’ (a.k.a. ‘whorl on mount of Moon’) can be recognized as a sign for finding a ‘highly imaginative person’, various scientific studies have indicated that dermatoglyphic whorls on the mount of moon are linked with Down’s syndrome + a few other medical problems.”

NEW RESEARCH FINDING ON AUTISM!

Another quote from the article:

“A study on the hands of 30 people with autism (25 men, 5 women) revealed a surprizing high percentage of a specific (very rare) variant of the ‘hypothenar whorl’ – the ‘hypothenar composite whorl’.”

Some examples of the ‘hypothenar composite whorl’ are presented below.

In the perspective of the fact that in the science of fingerprints the ‘composite whorl’ is related to the ‘double loop’, it is interesting to notice here that the new finding appears to confirm an earlier reported finding which pointed out that the hands of people with autism are often featured with a ‘double loop’ in the fingerprint of the pinky finger and the presence of 2 palmar loops below that 5th finger.

In cases you’re interested to learn more about the basics of fingerprint classification – the illustration below describes the 8 most common types of fingerprints (including: 2 ‘arch’ variants, 2 ‘loop’ variants, and 4 ‘whorl’ variants).

He, he . . .» . .»

Active people or people who have physically stressful jobs should remove jewelry during these activities. Many people have been seriously injured and had to have the jewelry cut from them to provide medical care.

Rings can be a very dicey situation if your finger is injured. The best thing to do is lubricate the area around the ring and remove it before the swelling starts. If already swelled try ice and elevation, then lubricate and try removing again. The next step is having a medical professional remove it with a saw.

It is a myth that Titanium rings can not be cut from the finger if necessary. This has stalled some sales to jewelers who sell titanium rings, but it is nothing more that a rumor. The saws used by hospitals remove titanium rings regularly, and with no more trouble than a traditional silver or gold ring.

I have been successful in cutting through all grades of titanium using a Dremel tool using a cut-off disc. For Safety Professionals, ring cutters can be purchased from emergency medical suppliers. If you are prepared with the right tool, proper action can be critical to the injury. Seek professional help as soon as possible.

Jewelers have been known to cut rings off of peoples fingers in the past. This is usually due to a finger outgrowing the ring. It is extremely rare though because jewelers have many secret ways of getting tight rings off of fingers. If they do have to cut it off they can with the standard equipment that they use daily. Yes even titanium.

Never use bolt cutters as it may crimp the ring and lacerate your finger. This information is not intended to take the place of professional medical advice. Always seek the advice of a professional medical adviser in the event of an emergency.

They were all high, and their faces glistened under the cheap florescence that twitched above them.

They were all high, and their faces glistened under the cheap florescence that twitched above them. Kyle slipped the glass pipe into his pant leg, feeling it fall to bottom and keeping his wrist on the bulge. Everyone else just kept their hands busy, rubbing and toiling over friction and finger. So how the fuck did you get a black eye? Seth asked Richard, keeping his chin tight to his chest like he does. Richard didn’t say anything, but moved his dirty tongue out of the clamp of chapped jowls as if he would start to speak, but didn’t.

He got it doing something dirty, that’s what. Kyle said behind his square glasses. It’s pretty swollen, when did it happen?

I think like a week ago, Richard said, standing up and tightening his jacket up to his neck. Kyle and Seth stood-up. It hurts like hell, but it gives me street cred’. Kyle and Seth did something horizontal with their lips, but never approached a laugh. It was an old joke.

Seth brought the garage door up and bit, so everyone could lay on their bellies and roll into the sunlight. Kyle went first, then Richard. The two squinted as the concrete that surrounded them in the coldesaque dispersed the sunlight at all angles. The garage door slapped shut, bending slightly in the middle.

We need to check out the Chaparral, Kyle said. It’s this dank forest behind the park – you know what, I think it’s owned by the park. Either way, no one goes back there and there’s this tiny-ass river that goes through it. It’s pretty fucking rad. Richard didn’t have anything to say, and after a bit of breathing billowed between the two, Seth came out. He was running with his short little arms clamped to his tee, panting and grinning.

What the fuck are we doing?! Seth asked all at once.

We’re gonna check out the Chaparral. Smoke the rest of the shit, and who knows, maybe run into some other rats who wanna match bowls. Maybe they got danker shit.

I don’t know, that flake you have is pretty good. It burns like a gold amber. Is that stuff from Ah-dee?

It is most certainly from Ah-dee, and Kyle’s glasses bobbed down to the bump in the middle of his long bridge. His left wrist still focusing and pressing on the pipe and bag. You know what? We can get their through your backyard.

We can?

That’s what I’m thinking. You know how your neighbor’s fence goes all the way to where it drops down to the road? Kyle used his long fingers to convey a cliff, and thinly legs traversing it’s rim. We can just shimmy along the fence and drop down. The Chaparral is just across the street and through a fire exit. I think it’s just another block from there.

We can smoke my shit along the way, Richard confessed.

We can.

Can we get to the back through the side, or are the vines still crazy-shit?

I think we can. If we can’t, then we can just go through the front again.

Next person to say ‘can,’ has to do the whole journey barefoot.

I ‘can,’ Kyle said, kicking off twelves and shoving them in a bush that grew around a mailbox.

ORTHODONTIC UPDATE OCTOBER 2009 RICHARD CY SHIN, DDS MS DIPLOMATE, AMERICAN BOARD OF ORTHODONTICS On

ORTHODONTIC UPDATE OCTOBER 2009

RICHARD CY SHIN, DDS MS

DIPLOMATE, AMERICAN BOARD OF ORTHODONTICS

One of the most common questions that I get from the parents is “Doctor, when is the best time to start braces for my child?” I am sure that if either of the parents have had orthodontic treatment in the past, he or she would certainly want to make sure that the child is checked to see if they need orthodontic treatment or not.

Many parents are already confused by the mixed messages they received from many sources regarding the best time to start orthodontic treatment.

Is it best to start treatment when just a few of the permanent teeth have erupted (usually between 7 – 10 years)?

Or, when all of the permanent teeth have erupted (usually around 12-13 years)?

Or, is it best to start in primary “baby” teeth (before any of the permanent teeth erupt, i.e. under 6 years)?

The answer is there is not one best time for every child! Each child presents with a unique problem and therefore each child will need a specialized treatment plan beneficial to him or her.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children have an orthodontic check-up no later than 7 years. Most children, by 7 years, would have reached key landmarks such as: 1) eruption of the front permanent teeth, 2) eruption of the back permanent teeth “six-year-old molars”.

The orthodontists can identify any key problems with the relationship of these permanent teeth and recommend either to start an Early Phase treatment. This is sometimes called Phase 1 treatment or Interceptive treatment. The goal of the treatment is to improve any dental problems that these permanent teeth might pose to the future growth and development of the developing permanent teeth and the jaws. Usually, the magnitude of the problem will be reduced and in some cases eliminated and greatly help in the Comprehensive orthodontic treatment stage when all of the primary teeth have been lost.

Here are some of the common examples of the malocclusions (“bad bites”) that I see in children in this clinic.

ANTERIOR CROSSBITE

Here you can see that one (often more) front tooth is coming out in front its counterpart on the top. This can be particularly damaging to the health of the gums of the teeth in crossbite, as well as to the bite.

POSTERIOR CROSSBITE

This time, the crossbite is in the back of the mouth, where the top teeth on one side are biting on the inside of the bottom teeth on that side. Left untreated, a posterior crossbite can cause a permanent asymmetry to the bite and to the face, because the crossbite forces the growing lower jaw to position itself to one side. This results in relatively more lower jaw growth on the side away from the crossbite and relatively less lower jaw growth on the side of the crossbite. Some studies have shown that an untreated crossbite can be a contributing factor in TMJ (temperomandibular joint) problems in an adult.

CROWDING

In this picture, we see severe crowding in the lower arch. Not only does such crowding look unsightly, but it is extremely difficult to clean efficiently and effectively around such crooked teeth. Poor oral hygiene will result in gum bleeding, bone loss and ultimately, tooth loss.

OPEN BITE

An open bite is often associated with habits such as thumb or finger sucking, mouth breathing or with disharmonious growth between the upper and lower jaw. Instead of the forces of eating and chewing being distributed amongst all the teeth, those forces in an open bite patient are only on the back teeth. Such uneven distribution of forces may result in gum and bone loss around the back teeth, tooth fracture, early tooth loss and future TMJ dysfunction. Quite often, open bite patients have associated speech problems.

PROTRUSION OF THE TEETH OR “OVERBITE”

Excessively protruding front teeth are obviously more prone to trauma. What a heartache it is to see that patient in our office with their front teeth broken off because of a fall or a sports injury. Children with upper tooth protrusion are commonly very self-conscious of their appearance.

RETRUSION OF THE TEETH OR “UNDERBITE”

An underbite is a condition where the upper jaw is too small and often too narrow to match with the size of the lower jaw, and consequently, when the upper teeth come in, they fall behind the lower teeth. Here again, we see uneven distribution of forces with resulting premature bone and tooth loss, as well as TMJ dysfunction. If not treated in a growing child, an underbite will usually require corrective jaw surgery in the late teens or early adulthood.

SUMMARY

Growth is critical for an ideal treatment result and it is the best helper available to the orthodontist to position of the upper and lower jaws. When the both jaws are in harmony, the erupting teeth will grow into the best possible position.

Our friends Bryan and Thy visited Tokyo last weekend, and stopped by the pottery studio to make chopstick rests. Bryan surprised the teachers and me by saying he wanted his to be in the shape of severed fingers, as an homage to Japanese yakuza. The teachers helped him create his first ever pottery, a full set of severed fingers.

Thy, like some readers of this blog, did not realize that the idea is that yakuza who have made a “mistake” chop their own finger to show remorse to their bosses. I am glad they both had fun making ceramics.

BTW, the student ceramic show begins this Saturday for five days. I’ll be there on Sunday and Wednesday.

After 3 weeks, my finger remains swollen. Its concerning. I went to the wall last night, and with it heavily taped, was able to crimp, and climb open-handed as much as I usually might. I still have some pain in my finger, where the swelling is, which is underneath the finger between the two knuckles.

But the pain levelis where I would expect it to be 3 weeks on. Its the swelling that worries me. Its not your usual puffy softish swelling, its pretty firm to the touch. I didn’t expect any swelling by now, but mu finger remains about twice the diameter of the index finger on my other hand. It’s a worry, as I say.

Thus far it seems that the overall feeling on Palin’s book is that it is a weakly voiced, whiny 400-

Thus far it seems that the overall feeling on Palin’s book is that it is a weakly voiced, whiny 400-pages of buck passing and finger pointing for her follies and short comings in the run for vice president as well as a self-flagellating recount of her life and family. I have not read it, probably never will unless it is lent to me by someone because I refuse to support her financially and idealistically. I have read a half dozen book reviews and heard her claims on the Newsweek’s ‘sexist’ cover that ran a photo of her taken for a shoot for a running magazine. In a time where she is presumably setting herself up to run for office in 2012 she has penned, or most likely ghost-written, an apparently petty and scathing editorial on those around her for her failings instead of taking responsibility for her lack of basic governing common knowledge and being ill-prepared for the investigative light that comes with the campaign for the high office that she sought.

In many reviews it is said that the book lacks the voice of a ‘leader’. The words are devoid of an overall message of power, strength, conviction, and accountability. She often slams the ‘liberal media’, though she has never shunned the coverage, and her secret desire to get one reporting team ‘slimy’ and dirty, which didn’t happen during a photo op fishing trip she went on with the crew. She felt slighted by those that made her over, and controlled her during the campaign, though this is what campaign managers and PR people get paid to do. She points out many short falls in the campaign in her eyes and speaks at length about the Katie Couric interview debacle that she wasn’t ready for. (That question on ‘what books do you read’ was a serious doozy for her I am sure.) She claims she was misinformed on Couric’s interviewing prowess. Misinformed? It’s Katie Couric, if you have owned a TV in the last 15 years then you should know that that chick swings for the fences in an ‘exclusive interview’ event like yours. Grow a pair, you are mildly educated on the topics you should know so much about, and Couric shoveled her way past your thin vail of a hockey-mom persona to find that there was little behind the mask. You got nailed, as Colbert would say, deal with it.

Whatever the book may be to those that read it, it seems that all is coming to fruition that I predicted so long ago. It will be a best seller, no question, and it will make her a media starlet again, for good or ill. Palin will take the place of the Jon&Kate fiasco on the tabloids, get serious interviews, like the one she had with Oprah pre-book release. She is doing her book tour, which will be a soft pedaling affair where most talk will be of how great her hardcore fans think she is, and how the media is so mean, when it should be her chance to push policy and talk shop, instilling confidence in her as a potential leader. Though this tour and public appearances would be a great chance for her to further her political career and talk policy and begin campaigning as a candidate for 2012 it will probably turn in to a whiny bitch session from stop to stop and TV appearance to TV appearance. Little will be spoken of that isn’t juicy, salacious, and an excuse for her performance and recent activities and this will be a huge mistake on her part if this isn’t taken advantage of as a chance to rally the ‘rogues’ out there that love her no matter what she says.

Sarah is all over the place, and one place she is not happy with being is on the cover of Newsweek. Sure enough, here comes the liberal media with it’s ‘sexist’ cover photo of her in thigh long running shorts, stockings, running shoes, and a long sleeve fleece zipped all the way up. Yes this ‘sexist’ cover showing less skin than a 1940’s ladies one piece bathing suit is a take from a shoot she did for some running magazine with the tag line ‘how do you fix a problem like Sara Palin’, or something to that effect. She claims that this photo is offensive and is sexist. Yes, this photo (a poorly lit and shot photo, the shadows behind her are an egregious slap in the face of exposure compensation and lighting proficiency, a flat lighting ratio, et al, a bad photo) that she volunteered to be in for a running magazine is now sexist on the cover of Newsweek. I don’t see how it wasn’t sexist in one magazine and then sexist in another. Apparently it objectifies her as a sexy woman and this takes away from her as a political figure somehow, as if the McCain team didn’t play her attractive looks and the republicans didn’t get a hard on with her as a poster child, gimme a break. How can you pose for a photo and then complain when a magazine legally obtains the rights to it for publication? It is such a cliched, poorly shot photo, do you see the American flag she leaning on? She prostitutes the word and idea of ‘American’ and ‘patriot’ to the point that the whole concept loses is power and meaning, so really the only thing the photo can be accused of, besides being bad, is that it is a tasteless pander to prostituting the honor and respect we should have for America and truly patriotic people, not those that whore the word out for political gain.

So what is next? Well, she should appear on Larry King Live soon, before he dies. I would say Letterman, but she probably won’t do that after his whole blackmail/affair debacle a while back, so I am betting the Jay Leno Show would like to ‘get’ her. She will make a cameo appearance on Saturday Night Live, possibly this week. I would love to see her on The Daily Show, but that won’t happen, maybe Colbert, but unlikely, and I think she might make a Meet The Press appearance. Palin will hammer the media as they cover her and blast her critics who say she needs to come to terms with her delusions of grandeur and get back in to small politics if she wants to ever make a run at the highest office. There are those that feel she is just not ready for the big show, maybe in 20 years, when age softens her looks as well as hopefully gives her wisdom, she can come in and take a more measured and experienced approach; that is, if she gets back in to smaller state offices now. Her proponents will trumpet the same old line of how great she is, how strong, how smart, and ignore every fact that points to the contrary; and this is who this book is written for, those that she the world through a Palin-made filter.

Sara Palin’s first book should have been a trumpet to call her troops and instill the thrill of victory in to their hearts for 2012. The book cover to cover could have a clarification and idealogical manifesto for the new Republican Party that needed to emerge for victory and a better America. She could have silenced all her critics with a el written and tough out socially conscious piece, and like a Phoenix she could have rose from the ashes of her shortfalls and very public embarrassments. She could have spun a tale of love and devotion in her family, explained away the pregnancy and all that stuff about marital problems, et al. It should have been a speech like something out of 300 that gave you goosebumps and made you just want to kick a door in to see how it felt. Her words, or someone else carefully shaping her words, should have cut to the core of her constituents and should have shed a light on the system she was going so ‘rogue’ from, creating a firestorm of support that would rocket her to near mythical proportions in the coming years. Instead she penned 400-pages of her boring, quaint life growing up and came to the summation that: A) Katie Couric is a bitch; B) Washington D.C. is a cross between ‘sodom and the frozen circle of hell’; and C) that her wardrobe stylist, Lisa A. Kline, was the torpedo that sank the McCain dreamboat to the White House and ruined her beyond repair. Yeah, it was the stylist’s fault. Bra-fucking-vo, Palin, your legacy is intact.

Vale a pena!
