Firefox 3 download now

The 24-hour downloading extravaganza for Firefox 3.0 closed up shop yesterday with nearly 2.58 million downloads from the US alone, almost 663,000 from Germany, 403,000 from Japan, 295,000 from the UK, and 290,000 from France.

Since the 1:00 pm EDT download period closed, that number has kept rising. By 5:10 pm EDT this afternoon, SpreadFirefox.com (the organization’s marketing arm) reported 9,026,760 downloads worldwide, with 2,754,008 in the US, 784,234 in Germany, 242,265 in Canada, and 17 in Turkmenistan.

Después de tanta espera por fin llega la versión final del tan esperado FIREFOX 3, esta versión cuenta con más de 16.000 mejoras, además Firefox 3 busca romper un record guiness con el Download Day; para quienes no saben lo que es pues les comento un poco, lo que se pretende con el DOWNLOAD DAY es crear una marca mundial alcanzando el mayor número de descargas en 24 horas.

Well, the big day is here, but the download site(s) are down. Capacity issues?

My question, where are all the mirrors? Can’t they track downloads from the mirror sites for their download total for the Guinness Record?

[UPDATE: It's up and down. I have a 3.0 download running, but it's SLOW, and actually stopped a 1/7th of the way through. Now I have to start over. The site showed the 2.0 version for awhile...finally popped up with 3.0, so I grabbed the link. I don't know if this will work or not!

Seit über einer Stunde versuche ich auf die Seite zu kommen, um meinen Beitrag zum Weltrekord-Versuch des Mozilla-Firefox 3 – Download-Marathon beizutragen…

17. Juni, 19:00 Uhr, Deutscher Zeit geht der Rekordversuch los.

Für 24 Stunden ist dann also Saugen und installieren angesagt Um am Weltrekord teilzunehmen, ladet einfach Firefox von der Download Day Webseite runter – dort bekommt Ihr sogar eine Teilnahme-Urkunde. Mozilla-Firefox-Infos sind hier zu finden.

Heute ist das offizielle Release für den aktuellen Mozilla Firefox 3.

Mit mehr als 14.000 Verbesserungen, neuen Features und besserem und schnellerem Surfen, verspricht der neue Browser – den es wie üblich kostenfrei gibt – einen Meilenstein der Internet-Geschichte zu legen.

Mal schauen, was Mircosoft dagegen zu setzen hat, und ob Opera müde lächelt – oder beide Konkurrenten in Schweiss ausbrechen.
