Those of you using Firefox as your primary browser will want to upgrade to Firefox 3.5, which was officially released today. According to Mozilla, Firefox 3.5 is “more than twice as fast as Firefox 3.” Some of the improvements include a faster page renderer, smaller memory footprint, and an optimized JavaScript engine.

Are you a Firefox user? I use Safari at work on my Mac, but at home I use Firefox on my PC. Firefox 3.5 seems to be approaching the speeds of Safari 4, though. I’ll have to give it a whirl here at the office.

The self proclaimed safest web browser now has a new version, (Due to my exclusive use of Google Chrome for the past year, I might be writing this a bit late.)Firefox 3.0.10. You can download this *new* version here. Firefox being open source does make it pretty damn safe in all fairness though. If you don’t know what open source means, it basically means that ANYONE can download the source code (the building blocks of the programme) to see how it works and if it has any holes in its security. Which can then be reported back to Mozila so they can get them fixed. You can access the source code from this link.

If you’ve never used another browser apart from Internet Explorer or Safari, then I suggest you do give Firefox a try. It’s much more reliable and as a I stated earlier, it is the self proclaimed saftest web browser. Which is quite a statment to make. It has all sorts of crazy customization options, you can totally change the overall look of the browser. Or you can download add-ons for pretty much anything you want. So, you like Twitter? Well, why not download the TwitterBar? You can then update your Twitter just by typing in your address bar. How about Facebook? Well there are all sorts of crazy apps for Facebook here. If you already have Firefox and don’t know where you can get these updates I speak of, then you can get them from here. It’s also simple to use and FREE, everyone likes free stuff. Especially when it’s one of the best of its kind.

We all know that Firefox’s awesomebar is pretty damn awesome, but there’s another feature that makes it, dare I say -more awesomer. If you type a domain name without the protocol and top level domain Firefox will attempt to add the appropriate ones for you. If it isn’t successful it’ll send you to the Wiki page of something it “thinks” you meant. To go straight to a wiki page just include the keyword “wiki” with whatever you’re typing. If there isn’t anything related on Wiki it’ll use your default search engine to display search results. I know, it’s pretty awesome.

Be more awesomer, use the Firefox.

Giving a harsh reply to the anti-trust by European Union, Microsoft has decided that it will not provide any browser in Windows 7.

Suppliers can still provide customers with IE 8 or other browsers like Firefox, Chrome or Opera installed. But Microsoft will not bundle Internet Explorer in their original package. So get a copy of Windows 7 in EU from stores and see if the below scenario matches yours…

Imagine booting up freshly installed Windows 7 operating system, just to find that there’s no browser to get online. What the heck?? You run to a friend to get on his system running Linux, XP, Vista or Mac OSX. Just to tell the reason you dont have ay browser. You need to download it from his computer. You get the browser in your flash drive get back home and then get installing the latest drivers. Not much of time wasted for me, because I don’t live in the European Union. But those who live, will definitely curse either EU or Microsoft or both.

I have been installing different version a couple of hours ago, and as I have decided what Firefox Web Browser version would I want to retain in my system. I immediately customized it, sett all the plugins, add-ons that I need especially in web development, since I do a lot of web programming. And to my surprise, I have noticed that I don’t need to re-install them as it was carried on although I did uninstalling the previous versions.

So, I am now happy with the current and latest version I am using. But what really is the difference between this (Firefox 3) version compare to the previous ones. Can anybody explain them to me? Thanks a lot in advance.

I have to re-install my firefox today since I have to fix my browser problem with the Firefox, so the installation went smoothly and without headaches, I was able to make firefox 3 internet browser. But later, I was wondering why is it that there is no Back button. So I initially concluded that maybe it is just a bug in this version. So, I went and downloaded the previous version and do the re-installation. To my surprise, the same thing happened, the Back button were also gone, I have it uninstalled and re-installed version 3. Is there any suggestion why this happens?

This post will most definitely be short, but extremely beneficial for the normal PC user. My dad recently downloaded Internet Explorer 8 and for a while, it worked ok. After about two days, however, he noticed severe lag in his computer’s performance. Thinking that perhaps his computer just needed a little maintenance, he proceeded to defrag and clear out unwanted files and folders. Upon restarting his computer, he realized that not only did this not help…but now Internet Explorer 8 wasn’t even working. He couldn’t use this browser to surf the internet, in fact, he couldn’t even connect to the internet at all!

I say all of this to let you know that Internet Explorer 8 (in any release, really) is total junk. As soon as he uninstalled the software AND deleted the “left-over” files (yeah…uninstall didn’t get rid of all the files), his computer was working as good as new.

After a little research on this problem, I have found that he’s not even close to the only one having this exact problem. Every person reporting this issue had downloaded Internet Explorer 8 recently and has nothing but bad reviews of this software. DO NOT USE. Read other thoughts and reviews about Internet Explorer 8.

I encourage everyone to use Mozilla Firefox 3 and/or Google Chrome. These products are FREE and work much MUCH better…not to mention you can customize Firefox with all sorts of add-ons!!

Less than a year ago, the Mozilla community released Firefox 3 and made an event out of it. The comm

Less than a year ago, the Mozilla community released Firefox 3 and made an event out of it. The community urged users to download the new browser the day it was released: June 17, 2008. The Mozilla’s goal was to set a record for the most downloads of a single application within a 24-hour period. The event was a success — but then there was no previously existing record, so I suppose you could argue it was a rather hollow victory.

At any rate, the Firefox browser received more exposure than it ever had up to that point. According to the Web site Market Share, Firefox had 18.41 percent of the Web browser market in May 2008. The latest figures show that Firefox accounts for 22.05 percent of the Web browser market as of March 2009. Even with the addition of new browsers like Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome, Firefox has become more popular.

Yesterday, Mozilla released a new build of the Firefox 3 browser: Firefox 3.5 Beta 4. Rather than a total redesign, this build incorporates a few tweaks and changes that should enhance users’ experiences online.

One of those tweaks is Private Browsing Mode, known in the Web surfing biz as “porn mode.” In this mode, the browser doesn’t store any information about the sites you visit. This reduces the chance of accidentally storing a password on the browser and allowing someone else to access your private information. That also means that the search bar won’t retain search terms in its autocomplete feature, nor will the browser store cookies.

The beta build is supposed to be faster than previous versions of Firefox 3. Mozilla claims the Javascript engine Firefox uses is now more stable. The new build also supports HTML 5 audio and video elements. You can read more about the features Mozilla has included in its Firefox 3.5 for developers Web page.

Since this is a beta, I feel it’s important to remind people that beta builds are not always stable. They can be buggy and may not perform as expected. But that’s the purpose of the beta phase — root out any problems so that they can be fixed before the final build goes gold. Since I rely upon Firefox 3 while researching for articles, blogs and podcasts, I think I’ll wait until the build goes gold before I install it on my machine. But if you’re a developer itching to make new applications for the browser, you should grab the new build and go to town.

Updated at 11:32 a.m. PST with a summary of the bug fixes.

Mozilla released an update to Firefox 3 on Tuesday that patches 12 security vulnerabilities, four of which it rated as critical.

Firefox 3.0.9, the Web browser’s third update this year, fixes two critical vulnerabilities in the Firefox browser engine and two in its JavaScript engine, according to a security advisory posted Tuesday:

Mozilla developers identified and fixed several stability bugs in the browser engine used in Firefox and other Mozilla-based products. Some of these crashes showed evidence of memory corruption under certain circumstances, and we presume that with enough effort, at least some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code.

One critical security bug fixed crashes caused by memory corruption, which the developers felt could have been used at some point to run arbitrary code.

Two other high-profile bugs involved a misinterpretation of a particular Adobe Flash code that could have been exploited, and a URI mismatch that also could have led to arbitrary JavaScript executions. However, there’s no evidence in the bugs that these security holes had been exploited.

AOL.com and AIM.com Web mail users should once again be able to view attached images inline and without hiccups. A bug created in Firefox 3.0.7 caused images to break where they had loaded properly in Firefox 3.0.6. Also, users who noticed previously stored cookies mysteriously disappearing should find that bug repaired.

The release comes as Mozilla prepares to release the fourth beta test of Firefox 3.5–the next version of the open-source browser. Mozilla had originally planned to release its new “Shiretoko” version of Firefox in early 2009. But after releasing Firefox 3.1 beta 3 last month, the organization behind the browser said a fourth beta is planned–and with the new version number, 3.5.

Expected changes in Firefox 3.5 include faster execution of Web-based JavaScript programs, a private-browsing mode, native support for the JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) technology for exchanging data between servers and browsers, and built-in audio and video abilities for bypassing Flash or other multimedia technologies.

In March, security-testing company Secunia reported that Mozilla had more vulnerabilities in its Web browser last year than Internet Explorer, Safari, and Opera combined, but that Mozilla dealt with those flaws more quickly than Microsoft did.

Meanwhile, Firefox continues to chip away at Internet Explorer’s market dominance. Mozilla now has 22.05 percent of the global browser market share, compared with IE’s 66.82 percent, a drop of more than seven percentage points in a year, according to figures from Web metrics company Net Applications.

Updates for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux are available at the Mozilla site. (Downloads in all languages are available here.) Firefox 3 users will receive an update notification within 48 hours, or they can download the update manually by selecting “Check for Updates” from the Help menu.
