Das Image von Chromium OS hat eine Größe von 766 Megabyte – Für ein bloßes Betriebssystem mit Browser und Treibern ganz schön viel. Fragt man sich doch, was da so alles noch feiner Google Code drin steckt.

Vorteil von Chromium OS?

Es startet (soll starten) innerhalb von wenigen Sekunden. Und sämtliche Google Apps sind verfügbar.

Braucht man dies? Nein!

Ein Windows Vista / Windows 7 startet aus dem Bereitschaftsmodus innerhalb von wenigen Sekunden (aus dem Total-Aus-Modus braucht es länger – klar).

Und die Apps? Warum nicht den Firefox mit der Erweiterung Google Shortcuts verwenden?

Eine Erweiterung, um alle Google Services gleich neben der Adressleiste als einzelne Buttons anzuzeigen.

Das funktioniert sehr sehr gut!

Via “Extras / Add-Ons / Google Shortcuts / Einstellungen” erreicht man folgendes Menü, über welches man die verfügbaren Google Apps der Leiste oben hinzufügen kann.

Fazit:

Ich glaube, ich bleibe bei Windows. Oder Ubuntu. Oder irgendeinem vollwertigem Betriebssystem, welches auch offline funktioniert, und mir ein bißchen mehr Kontrolle über meine eigenen Daten ermöglicht…

Kemarin saya mencoba untuk men-convert halaman website http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Jaunty ke pdf dengan tujuan menyimpannya agar dapat kembali membaca dan mem-print secara offline.

Ternyata tidak membutuhkan aplikasi tambahan karena secara standard Ubuntu 9.04 telah bisa melakukannya dan caranya tidak sulit.

Pada halaman website yang kita buka, pada contoh ini saya membuka halaman http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Jaunty yang merupakan tutorial Ubuntu 9.04, saya hanya memprintnya ke bentuk file dan merubahnya ke pdf, that’s all. Simple banget.

Caranya :

• File > Print ( Ctrl-P )
• Pilih Print to File
• Pilih Radio Button PDF
• Masukkan Direktori penyimpanan file dengan mengakses Save in Folder
• Buat nama file pada Name yang ber-ekstensi pdf
• Klik Tombol Print

Benar-benar Linux itu canggih, tidak perlu software dan free lagi, kalau OS lain tentu kita membutuhkan aplikasi tambahan untuk itu dimana tentu akan memberatkan registrinya.

Di Firefox sendiri sebenarnya mempuyai Addons untuk menconvert html menjadi pdf yaitu : Addons html2pdf, setelah menambah Addons tersebut akan muncul ikon kecil di ujung kanan bawah dari browser Firefox, pada saat mencobanya saya membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama untuk melakukan convert html tersebut, saya lebih cenderung dengan cara pertama diatas.

Salah satu sebab saya menggunakan Firefox adalah karena saya menggunakan Linux yang mana secara default telah terinstall Firefox, sebagaimana dengan system operasi Windows yang telah terinstall dengan Internet Explorer. Semakin lama menggunakan Firefox dengan segala addons-nya maka semakin terbiasa dengan Firefox tersebut.

Masalah yang muncul dengan Firefox dan Addons-nya adalah karena saya sering re-install Ubuntu yang saya gunakan dan setiap kali harus mendownload atau menambah addons di sini. Cara yang paling gampang dan flexible adalah dengan menyimpan extension / addons tersebut dalam bentuk file ( *.xpi ).

Adapun caranya adalah sebagai berikut :

1. Pilih Addons yang dikehendaki di url https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/
2. Klik Kanan pada Addons tersebut > Save Links As, secara otomatis akan membuat extensi xpi

Untuk meng-install addons tersebut adalah dengan cara :

1. Buka Firefox
2. Tools > Addons > pilih tab Extensions
3. Drag dan Drop ke dalam kotak Add-Ons tersebut dan tunggu hingga auto installnya jalan
4. Pilih Restart.

Selain itu extentions / addons tersebut dapat digunakan di PC lainnya.

Heute widme ich mich em Thema Firefox..

Also erstmal warum Firefox, ich wähle deshalb Firefox weil es einer der beliebtesten und schnellsten Browser ist , der derzeit auf dem Markt ist.

Zudem lässt er sich durch eine vielzahl von Addons und Themes sehr leicht auf die eigenen Bedürfnisse anpassen, was z.B. bei Internet Explorer nicht der Fall ist.

Aber jetzt zu den Addons..

Es gibt derzeit 156.187.216 aktive Addons (Stand 13.August 2009 11 Uhr), die alle zum einen den Funktionsumfang von Firefox erweitern aber auch dafür sorgen, dass das benutzen leichter wird.
