The First Family apparently isn’t letting a piddly security breach stop them from rooting against the home team.   The entire First Family cheered for Oregon State this weekend in their basketball game against GW.  Why did they traitorously root against the home team?  Because FLOTUS’ bro, Craig Robinson, is the coach, of course!  All that presidential cheering must’ve worked–Oregon State beat GW 3-2.  Maybe Obama and co. should start cheering for the Redskins…

The First Lady is presented with the Official White House Christmas Tree, arriving in Washington from Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The 18 ½ ft Douglas fir arrives on the traditional horse drawn carriage to the North Portico. The tree will be on display in the Blue Room throughout the holidays.

You can start at 1:20 if you want to see the activity begin. Very low key arrival but good to see. ‘Is this the biggest tree we’ve ever had? Yeah, I think this wins.’

Elle magazine honored Michelle Obama with first place in the category of “political chic” women in its annual Best Dressed list proclaiming Obama is more stylish than her French counterpart Carla Bruni. Bruni came in second on the list.

Obama and Bruni have been compared in the media for their twin fashion senses and political sensibilities. Other winners in French Elle’s annual Best Dressed list were Tilda Swinton, who picked up honors in the “Stylista” category, “Bombshell” winner Scarlett Johansson, and “Red Carpet” champion Penelope Cruz.

I am a bit fascinated by Jenny Sanford, first lady of South Carolina. After her husband disappeared on the “Appalachian Trail,” code for visiting his Argentinian soul-mate, she separated and launched her own career: trademarking her name to sell household wares, writing a memoir, and being interviewed by Barbara Walters as one of “10 most fascinating people of 2009.”

My favorite quote is this absurd political writer’s take on how Jenny is moving from first lady to political/business career woman: “She was always the driving force behind Mark Sanford, the engine that powers the car. Now the car broke down, and she’s on her own.”

The Obamas hosted the Indian Prime Minister and his wife or whatever their titles are. A Big Deal was made of Michelle Obama’s dress. It was made by a great Indian Designer. It had 1000’s of Silver Sequins that were each attached by hand with individual threads in India. Were these little Children that were working on this Special dress? We all know that there is Child Slave Labor that is Rampant in India. Children as young as 8 years old are made to work 18 Hours per day. Is there any investigation going on to see who actually worked on Michelle’s Dress back in India. We all know that if the dress was made in the USA, 100’s or so hours worth of Hand Labor would have cost at least $100,000.00 plus the cost of making the Entire dress.

Hopefully someone inquires about how this dress was made. I have a Strong Suspicion that little children most likely worked on The First Lady, Michelle Obama’s Dress. It should at least be investigated, and if not true, fine. If true, then let the cards fall where they may. If it is found true that her dress was made by Children, the Obamas would just say, “We had no idea, and we are appalled.” Blah, Blah, Blah……………………………….

Btw, people are comparing Obama to Jackie O.   Let’s get real. There will never be another Jackie O. and I think those who are making the comparison should stop taking that LSD or Peyote, or whatever they’re smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk about a security lapse!

A couple from Northern Virginia appear to have crashed the White House’s state dinner last night, penetrating layers of security with no invitation.

While the White House hasn’t provided an explanation, it is believed that this is the first time in recent history that anyone has crashed a White House state dinner.

Where are “Wedding Crashers” Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn when you need them! I’m sure they could give some tips on how this happened!

Tareq and Michaele Salahi – polo-playing socialites known for a bitter family feud over a Fauquier County winery and their possible roles in the forthcoming “The Real Housewives of Washington” — were seen arriving at the White House and later posted on Facebook what appeared to be photos of themselves with VIPs at the elite gathering.

“Honored to be at the White House for the state dinner in honor of India with President Obama and our First Lady!” one of them wrote on their joint Facebook page at 9:08 p.m.

But a White House official said the couple was not invited to the dinner, not included on the official guest list, and were never seated at a table in the South Lawn tent.

A woman describing herself as a publicist for the Salahis denied that they were interlopers. Pressed for details, Mahogany Jones sent a statement saying simply: “The Salahis were honored to be a part of such a prestigious event ….. They both had a wonderful time.”

How could it happen? A former White House senior staffer — who more than a decade ago encountered a crasher at one of the executive mansion’s less-fancy parties — offered this theory:

A savvy pair of crashers, dressed to the nines, might arrive on foot at the Visitor’s Entrance, announce their names — then express shock and concern when the security detail at the gate failed to find them on the guest list. On a rainy night like Tuesday, with a crowd of 300-plus arriving, security might have lost track of or granted a modicum of sympathy to a pair that certainly looked like they belonged there. If their IDs didn’t send up any red flags in the screening process, they would be sent through the magnetometers and into the White House.

As the White House prepares for POTUS’ first State Dinner, it’s not international relations with India and guest of honor Dr. Manmohan Singh that are of utmost concern.  The media is abuzz about who will show up and what FLOTUS is gonna wear:  Will she sport a new hairdo?  Show off her blazing guns?  Looks like the First Lady has always been a fashion plate, even as a wee lass at her 1984 senior prom.

The Obamas are getting ready to host their first State Dinner Tuesday night, and all the A-listers have been clamoring for an invite.  While the formal guest of honor is Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, we all know people are hungry to rub shoulders with POTUS and FLOTUS!

Because the White House doesn’t have space to accomodate the huge dinner (400 guests!), an enormous tent is being erected in the South Lawn.   The White House has been discrete about the invitation list, so BoL figures our invitation was lost in the mail.  Rumor is that Kalpenn Modi (better known as Kal Penn or Kumar), resident White House desi, received an invitation–maybe so Singh doesn’t feel lonely?

The dinner is so fancy that the White House invited guest chef Marcus Samuelsson of New York’s Scandinavian restaurant Aquavite  to prepare the meal.  While the menu is undisclosed, we know one thing–Dr. Singh is vegetarian, so Samuelsson’s specialty below better not be the only option!

Transcript: After much prayer and months of careful thought, I have decided that next season, season 25, will be the last season of The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Over the next couple of days, you may hear a lot of speculation in the press about why I am making this decision now…and that will mostly be conjecture.

So I wanted you to hear this directly from me.

Twenty four years ago, on September 8, 1986, I went live from Chicago to launch the first national Oprah Winfrey Show. I was beyond excited…and as you all might expect, a little nervous. I knew then what a miraculous opportunity I had been given, but I certainly never could have imagined the “yellow brick road” of blessings that have led me to this moment with you.

These years with you, our viewers, have enriched my life beyond all measure. And you all have graciously invited me into your living rooms, into your kitchens, and into your lives. And for some of you long time Oprah viewers, you have literally “grown up” with me — we’ve grown together. You had your families, and you raised your children and you left a spot for me in your morning or your afternoon, depending on when the Oprah show airs in your town.

So I just wanted to say that whether you’ve been here with me from the beginning or you came on board last week, I want you all to know that my relationship with you is one that I hold very dear. And your trust in me, the sharing of your precious time every day with me has brought me the greatest joy I have ever known.

So here we are, halfway through the season, 24, and it still means as much to me to spend an hour every day with you as it did back in 1986. So why walk away and make next season the last?

Here is the real reason: I love this show. This show has been my life. And I love it enough to know when it’s time to say good-bye.

Twenty-five years feels right in my bones and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number—the exact right time. So I hope that you will take this 18-month ride with me right through to the final show.

Over this holiday break, my team and I will be brainstorming new ways that we can entertain you, and inform you and uplift you when we return here in January. And then season 25—we are going to knock your socks off.

So, the countdown to the end of The Oprah Winfrey Show starts now and until that day in 2011 when it ends, I intend to soak up every meaningful, joy-filled moment with you.
