Colourful, ostentatious, fitted caps are out, Out, OUT! Forget it! Once upon a time it was cool to wear them, and I’m sure there’s a younger generation of kids that have them bolstered on their walls, shelves and windows. But if you’re still trying to pull that skater/ hip-hopper/emo look past the age of 18 then there’s something wrong, terribly wrong. And even if, when the world was confused they had a moment but, things are falling into place, and so is fashion.

Welcome to the second edition of the Filthy Fitted series. This time we take a gander at a prototypical New Era Cap with an uncharacteristic flip, well, a flip-down to be specific. The New Era Yankees Cleen Cut 5950 cap has the unique feature of a flip-down lid of sorts. It’s practical usefulness is obvious, but does this pragmatic feature compromise the overall aesthetic value of a New Era lid? Vote on it ladies and gents, filthy good or filthy bad?

To be fair, if you live in a climate with mild winters, force yourself to add practicality points, because you just don’t understand what it’s like until you’ve thugged it out in the streets of any North Eastern Metropolis.

STALL AND DEAN have been releasing an array of fitted’s commemorating football and baseball team’s from the early 1900’s lately, and the latest release is the New Orleans Pelican’s which was part of the Southern Association during the 1900’s. This week, The Hundreds releases two limited edition New Era fitted hats, and two matching T-shirts. The release consists of a “RSWD” New Era & tee based on the street address of the THLA retail space, done in LA-inspired colors, and a “POST” New Era fitted and matching tee, based on the THSF location, which utilizes SF-inspired colors. The “RSWD” New Eras and tees will only be available at the THLA store, and similarly, the “POST” New Eras and tees will be exclusively available at the THSF location – both dropping on 9/3. Only 100 of each fitted hat & T-shirt will be available.

This is a pet-peeve of mine. I hate stickers on fitted caps almost as much as I hate girls wearing over-sized fitted caps. Ladies, if you’re going to wear a cap, please, make sure that it fits your head properly, preferably with a slightly folded brim like you’re on a softball team. That’s sexy. And don’t make it look like you tried to hard.

Anyway my issue with stickers on fitteds is that, if you take it off too late, it’ll leave a mark in the shape of it. That’s the worst. That’s why I remove mine as soon as I buy a $35-cap. Yeah, New Era, y’all are bugging out with these prices. All that money for a blue Yankee fitted? But… I still buy them.
