reveals that this is a brighter recording without
any processing, while WWC is the victim of some

Here are the definitive versions of the two widely circulated 1967 shows featuring Syd along with bonus extras. A fine product of the Harvested Team!

Some notes….

Dedicated in loving memory to Roger Barrett and Bernard White.

Liner notes:
“Bernard White died in 2005 and he is dearly missed by Pink Floyd fans from across the globe.

Before the sad events that lead to his death, he was a true groundbreaker in terms of Pink Floyd collecting and knowledge.

A contributor to various early books and articles about the band, with a happy knack of being in the company of the right people at the right moment, Bernard always had time to talk to fans who visited the various shops and market stalls that he worked in and owned in London.

People would track Bernard down from all over the world and stand around for hours asking questions and seeking a chance to borrow his precious reels, tapes and memorabilia. Most requests were politely declined but there were a lucky few whom he assisted.

The Copenhagen, Rotterdam, CBC and Irene Winsby recordings on these discs are from Bernard’s reels. The two 1967 concerts were copied from a visitor to the UK capital in around 1975. Bernard knew Irene Winsby and CBC was from Capital Radio when they made the six-part Pink Floyd Story.

For this Harvested release, the reels were transferred using the best equipment under recording studio-type conditions, then enhanced and edited. A little more Rotterdam was found separately and added in to give a longer recording than most will have.

Much of Bernard’s archive was disposed of hurriedly after his death, with very little regard to how it would be kept. Indeed, rumor has it that a lot of it was simply thrown away. The cream of the collection survived; however, and it’s just possible that other items will reach the light of day.”
IP

This is a release that the Harvested Team has been working on for a while and big kudos to MOB and Ed for all their great hard work. This release will appeal mostly to hardcore fans that want a glimpse into the only known concert recordings of The Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett circa 1967. Even though the source for this was the master reels, the sound quailty is still pretty bad most of the time, yet shines through during others. Syd’s vocals are absent (or barely audible) most likely due to a bad microphone or mix, but luckily a good part of the performance is instrumental (Matilda Mother at the Copenhagen gig rocks!!!). We felt that since we had the original source for these important historic recordings (that have been widely available for years) that they deserved a tedious remastering process in an attempt to create a definitive version of these shows.
Enjoy!

Pink Floyd 1967 – Dolls House Darkness (LP transfer cleaned!)

This is taken from the excellent needle drop from last year shared by kevlovesbexy (see below for original lineage). I’ve gently de-noised the LP in Diamond Cut 6.14 in an attempt to free these wonderful recordings from their light patina of vinyl surface noise. I also made some art work. Hopefully the results are not too bad, but see what you think!

These are Kev’s notes from the original torrent: -

Here’s a rather nice boot LP I acquired recently. The tracks are all familiar but many of them are in superior sound quality. The Hans Keller interview is the full version, and the session version of “Pow R Toc” is about a minute longer than many of the tapes circulating. My first torrent – enjoy!

Please don’t encode to lossy formats, or sell on eBay.

TRACKLIST
1. Pow R Toc H/Intro by Robert Robinson (0:46)
2. Hans Keller Intro (1:06)
3. Astronomy Domine (3:56)
4. Roger & Syd Interviewed by Hans Keller (3:53)
5. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun (3:34)
6. Reaction In G (0:40)
7. Flaming (2:47)
8. The Gnome (2:26)
9. The Scarecrow (2:14)
10. Matilda Mother (3:28)

This is the earliest confirmed Floyd-related recording. Adam, Mike and Tim single. It was tracked down by those frisky folks over at Pigs On The Wing – many thanks! I wish I had some scans or other information to share. It sounds nothing like the Floyd. It’s Rick Wright with a bunch of his school friends.Flac format – sorry no scans for this.

CDR > WAV (EAC with secure) > FLAC (Frontend level 8 with verify)

This is an uncirculated version, I think there are others in circulation. An edited version has been played on FM radio (without the songs that were not yet released at the time), and the master may have been stolen at the radio station. I don’t know about the other versions, but this one is very good !

Some work has been done on the first track’s level. The original recording started out much too loud, then went to low, so I worked on the gain to make it sound right (there’s still a little distorsion in the beginning, but I think it is unavoidable).

Tracks 18 & 25 * are two pretty long sections of enthusiastic crowd noise. I left them so you get the whole concert exactly as it has been recorded. For your listening pleasure, you may want to burn a CD without these two tracks.
Tracks 11 & 12 ** (fade-out & fade-in) were added to make a more pleasurable listening experience at the end of the first CD and at the start of the second one. When listening on a computer or any media that can accomodate more than 75 minutes of music, you can simply leave these two tracks out, so you get the whole concert in one go.

sudo apt-get install flac lame

Pour un fichier

Flac permet de compresser mais aussi de décompresser. Le format de sortie par défaut est du wav. Format que Lame peut compresser en mp3.

flac -d fichier.flac -o - | lame -q 0 -b 128 --resample 44.1 - fichier.mp3

Explication des options :

flac

for fic in *.flac
do
 flac -d "$fic" -o - | lame -q 0 -b 128 --resample 44.1 - `basename "$fic" .flac`.mp3
done

From aidanjm’s stuff : Lossless audio files can be split by cue file using “shnsplit” (part of the “

From aidanjm’s stuff :

Lossless audio files can be split by cue file using “shnsplit” (part of the “shntool” package). You will also need the “cuebreakpoints” tool (part of the “cuetools” package). To install cuetools and shntool in Ubuntu/ Kubuntu, open a terminal window and enter the following:

sudo apt-get install cuetools shntool

You will also need software for your prefered lossless audio format. For FLAC you need to install “flac”.

Shnsplit requires a list of break-points with which to split an audio file. Conveniently, cuebreakpoints prints the break-points from a cue or toc file in a format that can be used by shnsplit. You can pipe the output of cuebreakpoints to shnsplit as follows:

cuebreakpoints sample.cue | shnsplit -o flac sample.flac

Or, without cuebreakpoints

shnsplit -f sample.cue -o flac -t “%n. %t” sample.flac < sample.cue

In this example, a flac file called “sample.flac” is split according to the break-points contained in “sample.cue” and the results are output in the flac format.

The output file format is specified via the “-o” option. If you don’t specify an output format your split files will be in shntool’s default format (i.e., wave files, “wav”).

To split a monkey’s audio file by cue file and output the results in the flac format:

cuebreakpoints sample.cue | shnsplit -o flac sample.ape

Note that a default prefix “split-track” is used to name the output files. (The default output format is split-track01, split-track02, split-track03, …). You can specify your own prefix via the “-a” option.

To see all the options for shntool split type “shntool split -h” or “shnsplit -h”.

Pay special attention to the -t fmt option to rename the split files:

shnsplit -f sample.cue -o flac -t “%n. %t” sample.flac < sample.cue

Transferring tags

The audio files output by shnsplit do not contain tag data. However you can use the “cuetag” script (installed as part of the cuetools package) to transfer tag data directly from a cue file to your split audio files. You specify the individual audio files corresponding to the tracks contained in your cue file as follows:

cuetag sample.cue split-track01.flac split-track02.flac split-track03.flac split-track04.flac

This will transfer the tag data contained in “sample.cue” to the flac audio tracks “split-track01.flac” “split-track02.flac” “split-track03.flac” and “split-track04.flac”.

The above command could be streamlined as:

cuetag sample.cue split-track*.flac or cuetag sample.cue *.*.flac

Cuetag works with flac, ogg and mp3 files. The cuetag script is not currently able to handle file names containing spaces.
