Many people might not know this but Nisim’s hair loss line of products, NewHair Biofactors, has two shampoos that are also excellent for treating a dry and itchy scalp. Normal to Oily and Normal to Dry shampoo for each hair type. The most common way of treating and controlling Dandruff is to use medicated shampoos containing actives such as Tar or Selenium Sulfide. Nisim Shampoos provide a non medicated approach that rivals the effects of the others, simply by following the Double Wash and Rinse regiment. Our Deep Cleansing Shampoos are Very Effective at helping to remove the excess accumulation of dead skin cells that gather and form the visible Flakes. It is important to be Very Thorough with the Rinse portion of the procedure to help ensure complete removal of the undesired accumulation of flakes. A gradual and steady decrease in noticeable flakes should be easily observed. A clean scalp will also help to minimize the occurrence of Scalp Itchiness. One may go further in helping to combat dry, itchy scalp conditions by Using the Hair and Scalp Gel Extract as directed. We suggest the Normal to Dry Shampoo or if you have an oily scalp use the Normal to Oily Shampoo.

Some people think eye creams are a total waste and there’s no need to use an eye cream, others may

Some people think eye creams are a total waste and there’s no need to use an eye cream, others may think it is just one of those products people think u must have and is a waste of money however I disagree. The skin around the eyes is very delicate and needs special attention. If you don’t want to invest in an eye cream, you can apply regular moisturiser around the eyes, but try to put on a generous amount in that area. Using regular cream on the eye cam sometimes effect the skin around the eye because it is very delicate and sensitive. Using regular cream may cause itchiness, redness and irritation to the eye.

The eye cream I am currently am using is called Manuka honey eye cream by natural being. I have to admit from all the eye creams I have tested and tried out this is by far the best. The thing I love the most about this cream is its organic. This eye cream is for all skim types, I have oily skin and it doesn’t give me breakouts, which is a good. It’s a very soft cream, very light; when you apply the cream around your eyes it doesn’t feel heavy. It feels very cool and absorbs into the area really well. I think it helps with the ageing; the dark areas making you have bags under your eye and defiantly improve the appearance. Also when I apply it I find it very relaxing and soothing around my eye. Those of you who are concerned about the smell u will be happy to hear it most certainly does not have a bad smell it’s very mild. Finally the normal price for this eye cream is £12.00

My experience

I’ve been looking for a good ice cream for a while until I found this eye cream. My eyes always felt tired and I started getting bags under my eyes, these were my main problem. At first I was using my normal everyday moisturising I used on my face around my eyes too. But that didn’t chance my condition. The moisturising cream started to make my eyes feel heavy at times that’s when I decided to start trying out eye creams. The eye cream by natural being has never made my eyes feel heavy, its so soft and soon as I put it on I can feel my eyes relaxed and cool. I love the feeling of the eye cream when I use it and I love the fact it’s organic so I know its not full of chemicals or things that can harm my skin or my eye because the skin around the eye is very delicate. I use this cream twice a day morning and night. Before I apply my eye cream I make sure my face is cleansed. Don’t wear the eye cream if your wearing make up around the eye or eye make up co that will irritate the skin. If you do wear eye make up during the day, its still fine to use the eye at night, however jus make sure u take eye makeup of well. I would defiantly recommend this eye cream to everyone I personally think it’s a good investment will keep you looking younger and better. ♥

Those of you who are in search for a good eyeliner/ top liner … your answer is here.

I have always been into wearing eyeliner/ top liner for ages now. Since I’ve started university I’ve always been wear top liner a lot more then bottom liner. Going to university everyday for me is very busy and I’m always in a hurry especially in the morning. I’ve realized wearing top liner is so much easier for me because;

Its quick to put on.

I don’t have to worry about worry about it getting smudged because when I wear eyeliner it intends to smudge.

Also it is so easy to clean and take off.

Make my eye look big.

Takes away the tired look, giving a fresh appeal.

My most favorite, and loved eyeliner which I use all the time is L’OREAL super liner and L’OREAL luminizer. Before I started using L’OREAL I was jumping from one make to another. Constantly changing the brand I was using until last summer, my older sister gave me this L’OREAL liquid eyeliner. From the very first time I used it, from that instant I just simply loved it. You may not believe this but, ever since my sister handed me the L’OREAL eyeliner I haven’t used any other brand since and I defiantly don’t think I will be switching to another brand.

The reasons I absolutely just love this brand is because it is so easy to use, the tip is sharp and ling so it doesn’t get in the way you’re your eyelashes and clump up, its very smooth. It has never smudged for me. Once I put it on in the morning it lasts through the whole day without me having to fix it. Finally it is so easy to take off. I don’t have to sit and scrub my eyes off; it’s just a simple wipe with a face wipes, or eye make up remover and it off. I normally buy the eyeliner from Boots. Some people may think it’s a little pricey for eyeliner but personally I think the L’OREAL eyeliners are defiantly worth its price. ♥

This home made hair conditioner for all hair types weather its oily or dry.

This conditioner should help u gain healthy strong hair.

It’s a really quick and easy recipe to make at home, and the ingredients aren’t expensive.

HOW TO MAKE THE CONDITIONER.

Ingredients…

1 Lemon

2 Teabags

Half cup of water

A small cooking pot

First make sure your cooking pot is nice and clean which you will be using to boil your ingredients in to make the conditioner. Wash the pot out and heat it up on the stove until the water has dissolved; now you can turn the stove off. Cut the lemon into 4 pieces and squeeze the juice out into the cooking pot and add half cup of hot water. Now add in the remaining pieces of the lemon. Start to heat it on the stove and after a minute add the 2 teabags in. Now let the lemon and the teabags boil in the water. Leave it to boil for about 30 to 40 minutes. Leave the conditioner to cool down for about an hour or an hour and half. Pour it into a small container or a bottle and store it the fridge when you’re not using it. This conditioner or bottle should last you up to a week then you will need to make it again so it’s fresh. Don’t let anything mix with this conditioner like the water from your shower. Now your conditioner is ready to use.

HOW TO USE

So its pretty easy how you use it. You replace your current condition with this home made one. When you take the conditioner out of the fridge to use jus give it a little mix and take it to your shower to use. After you have washed your hair with the shampoo you can apply this conditioner. Don’t run it on your scalp because conditioners are supposed to be only used on the hair. Rub the home made conditioner in your hair from the top of your hair to the bottom. You could also comb your hair with a shower brush just to make sure the conditioner gets into all your hair. Leave the conditioner in your hair for about 2 to 3 minutes and you can wash it out.

MY EXPERIENCE.

I first discovered this condition through my mum when I was having a tough time with my hair. I felt like my hair was thin, falling out and jus didn’t have enough volume. I use the oils on my hair, which I have shared with you. ( http://muslimahsecretbeauty.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/hair-care/ this is the link) That has really helped my hair. However I felt every time used conditioner that I bought it either make my hair greasy and oily very quickly and it just wasn’t helping the dandruff. I spoke to my mum about this situation and she made me this conditioner. For those of you who are concerned about the smell of the conditioner, I don’t think it smell bad at all. I actually like the smell. After the first time I used it I didn’t really feel a big difference. But after using it after few times, I feel as though is helping my hair. My hair doesn’t get oily or greasy very quickly it has more volume. I feel like I have healthier hair. I hope you all try this conditioner, it’s easy to make and will cost you less to make this conditioner yourself then to buy one. ♥

If you find your hair is thin, dull, or breaks easily, bergamot oil may be a solution. When applied

If you find your hair is thin, dull, or breaks easily, bergamot oil may be a solution. When applied to hair, bergamot oil reportedly soaks into the scalp and strands. This stimulates the blood flow to the follicles around the roots and infuses into strands to give hair strength and shine. All u need to do is add 1 table spoon of bergamot oil to your shampoo and conditioner. this should help you gain thicker and healthier hair.

my experience

I first heard about bergamot oil from my aunty when my hair was falling out, there was so many things wrong with my hair. I took my aunts advice and bought bergamot oil from holland & barrett for £6.09 and added it to my shampoo. first month it didn’t do much for my hair except it was a bit shiny now its coming to 6 months and i have to say its increased the strength of my hair and gave my hair more volume.♥

I love puns. I couldn’t decide between “Here we GROW” and “HAIR we go”

I love puns. I couldn’t decide between “Here we GROW” and “HAIR we go” so I combined them. Obvi. I FINALLY saw a dermatologist to discuss my hair loss and flaky scalp. $50 and half an hour later, I was just told that the hair loss was definitely lupus but the flakiness was a separate issue. Turns out it’s seborrheic dermatitis and I was “prescribed” T/Gel by Neutrogena to relieve the itching and flaking. As for the hair loss, I was “prescribed” 5% Minoxidil… also known as Men’s Rogaine (because the Women’s is 2% and won’t even affect me). The dermatologist said to just try this out and hopefully we will see results… in 6 months. I’m so impatient, I need results now! I’m also irritated at myself that I didn’t get this checked out EARLIER! Well, I told him that I have been using Nioxin Scalp Therapy Shampoo, Conditioner and Foam treatment but he said that won’t help with regrowth. He said to continue using it even with the T/Gel and Rogaine. My daily routine has just been added with another task and all the Rogaine users say to use this stuff religiously, day and night, everyday in order to see results. Can’t cheat on this one. It has also been recommended to take pictures of the progress. Although it may not seem like much, there may be some improvements with time.

Here’s my unsightly picture of one of my thinner spots. I asked about the cortizone shots but since I don’t have big bald spots due to alopecia, it’s not recommended to get shots in every little area. That doesn’t sound fun. But hair goes nothing! (I just had to haha)

As for my exercise and diet, went on a 7 mile hike in Sunol Valley yesterday. Very, very tiring especially since the group I went with went off trail and climbed this huge, steep hill. I had a little trouble breathing and my legs were definitely sore. My body definitely pushed itself and recovery seems to take longer than usual. I had a spinach salad today with chicken and tomatoes for lunch and soup with eggs and shitake mushrooms with a side of papaya for dinner. I was “good” today, don’t want to say what the weekend looked like, though it wasn’t too terrible. Now I’m feeling a little sore still and congested for some reason. I have my humidifier on too! Oh well… So this is my journey thus far. Hopefully I will continue to keep up with the diet and exercise and that this hair treatment stuff will start kicking in. I miss having hair and not having to be so self conscious.

Hello Friends, During the winter the biggest complaints I hear from my guests are regarding hair sta

Hello Friends,

During the winter the biggest complaints I hear from my guests are regarding hair static and dry, flaky scalp. The issues are both caused from the same thing – the winter!

Even when we live in a warmer climate, the winter air is drier. We take warmer showers, we use the heater in the house, the car, and at the workplace. When the air is drier, it has a tendency to cause our hair to contain static. In addition, just as the skin on your body gets drier in the winter, so does the skin on your scalp.

To prevent static one can use hairspray or a cream-type styling product on the hair. Cream hair styling products tend to eliminate static as well as using hairspray.

To help with flaky, dry scalp, I recommend Denorex dandruff shampoo. I like the Denorex because it contains salicylic acid, which helps exfoliate the skin. I, personally use it. My routine is to shampoo once with Denorex then shampoo again with Denorex and let it sit on my scalp for a minute or two, then rinse and use conditioner only at the ends.

Have you ever seen white flakes that may end up in your come or brush after brushing your hair? Did you notice your scalp itched more then normal? If so, you may have a case of dandruff. According to WebMD dandruff is common in many adults and there are many factors that may contribute to dandruff such as stress and weather changes. There are treatments that can help to control, in some cases, get rid of dandruff. The problem that most people experience with dandruff treatment is how dry and brittle it leaves the hair during the shampoo. Your hair feel crunchy while washing.

Say no more. Here’s a simple concoction to try to help decrease the changes of your hair from being dry and brittle during your dandruff shampoo:

Find a dandruff shampoo of your choice or one recommended to you by your doctor

Find your best moisturizing or conditioning shampoo that you have (Design Essential conditioning shampoo is really great)

In small color applicator bottle add in a few drops of the dandruff followed by a few drops of your moisturizing/conditioning shampoo

Add a little water to your mixture to help dispense it from the bottle onto your hair and scalp and shake it

Using the applicator bottle squeeze mixture directly onto hair and scalp, massage into your scalp

Repeat as necessary

feel the difference? Don’t forget to condition and continue with your conditioning and moisturizing steps afterwards.

The shea moisture organic African black soap purification mask is my new absolute favorite hair care product of all time it detangles the hair like no other product can. When I used this black soap purification mask my scalp felt like it was breathing again, I originally was going to use this as a prepoo, but I found no need to because it got rid of all the product buildup and I felt the tangles melting away after only leaving it on with my shower cap for 30 minutes, with this product I discovered that there wasn’t any need to shampoo or condition or deep condition my transitioning hair because it did the job for all three. I was so surprised with the results wow!!! This is the best hair care product I have ever used. You transitioning ladies know how hard it is to prevent breakage on the fragile area of the demarcation line ( where the natural hair and the relaxed hair meet) this is your answer

The picture la are taken from my iPhone as screenshots

My body is reacting to something. I am trying to figure out what it is but if I went by what I feel like, I would think I’m getting glutened. Which I know isn’t happening. I am changing things one by one to see what helps and what doesn’t. So far, coconut has helped the most with the rashes, itchiness, and flaky scalp. These symptoms haven’t been much of a problem since going gluten-free. With the exception of the rashes I had earlier this year.

There is also muscle fatigue and overall general fatigue. The kind where I’m coming from work and not wanting to do anything other than sleep. There are nights where I end up crashing on the sofa before bedtime. Some heart palpitations. A lot of inflammation. So much inflammation my plantar fasciitis is in a constant state of swollen pain and nothing helps. Nothing. Not icing, not stretching, not rice, not golf balls, not yoga. It’s quite frustrating because I know the inflammation is driving the fatigue.

There is a constant state of chaos and stress right now at work with a major store remodel in progress. In one night, it is possible for a project I’ve worked on for days to be completely undone and have to be re-done. Things are in a constant state of flux and answers are hidden away somewhere. Probably in the disaster of a fixture room in which I always feel like everything will come crashing down on me if I move just one thing the wrong way. There is also all kinds of crap in the air. Dust, paint fumes, chemicals, sawdust. Who knows what else is lurking in the air. I could blame it all on the remodel, but a lot of the symptoms started before anything was touched.

We leave for Los Angeles on Thursday. Time with my best friend and her family, whom I haven’t seen in nearly three years. A football game on Saturday for my alma mater. The promise of a beach and other friends from long ago. The possibility of a musical at The Old Globe Theater if Chaz agrees.

I’m hoping the time away will help me at least narrow down what is setting my body off on this massive reaction. That way, when I get back and see my doctor the week after, I can present her with my findings, leaving the potential for the amount of testing low.

You see, the practice she is a part of practices what they call Transformational Medicine. It combines integrative and functional medicine and they take everything into account when making an assessment. It’s not just about what’s going on in your body today, but yesterday, last week, last month, and last year. They consider stress, nutrition, metabolic function, immune system, hormones, and your body’s alignment.

I’ve been going to this practice for a year and a half now. I get acupuncture, chiropractic, and the occasion energy healing when needed. It’s not covered by insurance, but worth every penny because not only can we head things off before they get ugly, we can prevent.

I look forward to my appointments. I know they will listen, take care of me, and I’ll be relaxed throughout my time there. What doctor’s office plays music you normally only hear in posh spas? That’s right. Mine.

The founders of the practice, Steve Amoils, M.D. & Sandy Amoils, M.D., recently released the book, Get Well & Stay Well. They share their journey of learning other types of healing after finishing medical school and how transformational medicine works. It’s a great book even if you have no clue about alternative medicine and want to learn more. For those of you who are familiar with alternative medicine, you’ll see how combining the different practices along with Western medicine can benefit you.

I may not find all the answers at my next appointment, but I know I’ll feel better when I leave.

Dry flaky scalp is the most common hair problem that many of us face today. In this article, we have discussed about the causes and treatment for the condition of dry flaky scalp.

The dead skin cells present on the surface of the scalp fall off continuously and is replaced by new skin. This is a normal process. However, when the loss of dead skin from the scalp is excess, then the tiny flakes of dead skin tend to get clustered up to form larger white flakes. There could be many reasons behind dry flaky scalp condition. Excessive dry skin and dandruff are the two probable causes of dry flaky scalp. Climate changes, particularly the onset of winter can result in dry flaky scalp. It can be due to some skin disorders like psoriasis or eczema or due to some allergic reaction. Other dry flaky scalp causes include the use of wrong hair care products, bad eating habits, dehydration, intake of alcohol, pollution, hard water, stress, etc. Sometimes, dry flaky scalp could be a hereditary condition.

Dry Flaky Scalp Treatment

Scalp massage is an excellent way of treating dry flaky scalp. Massage the scalp by moving your fingers gently in circular motions. It improves the blood circulation in the scalp which in turn will open up the blocked pores of the scalp that prevent release of natural oils into the scalp. With the production of these oils, the scalp will get lubricated and its dryness will vanish. It can be done before or during shampooing or even before going to bed.

The scalp is badly affected by the dry weather condition of the winter. Hence, during this time of the year, use a shampoo and conditioner that are suitable for dry scalps. In other time of the year, use shampoo and conditioner whenever the condition of dry scalp arises. Otherwise, you can use the shampoo that match your hair type. When you have the problem of dry flaky scalp do not shampoo your hair too frequently. This is because too much of shampoo takes away the natural oils from the scalp.

After the application of the shampoo make sure you rinse off the hair well to get rid of all the soap residue completely before the use of conditioners. This is because the conditioners often lock up the residual part of the soap which later leads to formation of flakes. Never use hot water on the scalp as it makes the scalp even more drier. Moreover, do not use blow dryer for drying the hair because the heat can aggravate the problem of dry flaky condition further.

Dry Flaky Scalp Home Remedies

Dry flaky scalp is best treated with home based products. Here are some dry flaky scalp remedies that uses naturally occurring substances:

Coconut Oil: Hot oil treatment using coconut oil is good to moisturize the scalp. Take half a cup of coconut oil and heat it to make it lukewarm. Massage the oil on the scalp with easy circular motions. Apply the oil thoroughly all over the scalp. Wrap up the hair with a hot towel so that the oil is soaked up well into the scalp. After an hour, wash off the oil using a mild shampoo. Do this treatment once a week. You can also refer to coconut oil treatment.

Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar: Mix equal quantities of honey and apple cider vinegar and add a few drops of lavender oil into it. Massage this mixture well into the scalp and leave it untouched for half an hour. Then wash off with lukewarm water. If you have itchy scalp, this is the best remedy because the natural acids present in the vinegar will clean the residue buildup that causes irritation and the honey will hydrate the scalp. Read more on itchy scalp remedies.

Aloe Vera: Application of fresh aloe vera juice taken from its leaves is helpful to maintain the balance of the natural oils in the scalp. Apply it into the scalp with your fingers and wait for about half an hour. Then shampoo the hair. You can use aloe vera on the scalp as often as you can to get rid of dry scalp.

Also read more on dry scalp home remedies.

Along with providing external nourishment to dry flaky scalp, you have to ensure that you follow a healthy diet with the right balance of nutrients to cure this condition. You also have to drink plenty of water every day to keep yourself hydrated and prevent dehydration of the body.

The holiday season’s means family reunions and well loads of parties ! And who does not like to be perfectly coiffed for every function. Meaning styling products, blow dryers, and pomade! Dont let me fright you off, go right ahead to your styling appointment because I have a perfect solution that actually works.

Apple Cider Vinegar rinse:

Apple Cider vinegar will help regulate the PH balance of your scalp, reduce build-up of products and helps fight dandruff. So when you know you are using a lot of products it is great to cleanse your scalp every 15 days with a rinse. Also, it is safe to use for chemically treated hair and leaves your hair squeaky clean. It is basically a detox for your hair.

The Basic Recipe:

Take 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar with 2 cups water and rinse through your hair. Let sit for 20-30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Or just use it as a final rinse after shampooing.

Make it better:

For dandruff and flaky scalp, adding 2 drops of tea tree oil to your bi weekly rinse will help sooth irritated scalp and fights dandruff.

Make it a mask:

1/2 cup olive oil

1 half Banana

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Mash it well and use at as a mask on clean hair, cover with a shower cap and leave for 30 minutes. Repeat every 15 days.

Well, dandruff is actually a pretty rare condition and the majority of people who think they have dandruff actually have flaky scalp due to dry skin. Dandruff is a medical condition for which you should consult your doctor. It is also contagious.

That said there are certain things you could do even for dandruff like wash your hair with borax solution. I’ve never tried that as I don’t have that problem. However if you have a flaky scalp you can try the following scrub:

Mix 2 tbsp. of honey (preferably raw and unpasteurized) and 1 tbsp. of sugar and gently rub into your hair. That will exfoliate you scalp. Finish with a hair mask or regular shampoo. Once again, it is for flaky scalp condition and not for real dandruff. Hope you will find that helpful.

Flaky scalps can affect most of us at least once in our loves. This time of year people are most susceptible. A combination of cold air and central heating can disrupt the moisture balance of the scalp. Often shampoo is where we look for a solution, but there are other things you can try. People tend to assume that when they see flakes on their shoulders that it will be dandruff. However, this isn’t necessarily true. It could be a dry scalp. Dandruff is where skin cells shed at an excessive rate and cause large yellowish flakes to fall. This is a result of sebum imbalance. However, white flakes are the result of a dry scalp.

The first thing to change could be your diet. Increase your intake of fatty acids and oily foods, such as avocados and oily fish. Avoid using strong perfumed products as they can contribute to the scalp drying out.

Keep a humidifier in the bedroom to keep the temperature down. Not only will you help calm down your scalp, but you will also improve the condition of your skin as well as your sinuses.

Skinshop’s Dry Scalp Shampoo, £5.99, contains a honey and balloon vine formulation, which is suitable for scalps that are prone to dryness and eczema.
