I got many emails regarding the issue that HOW TO LAUCH SWF FILES FROM END USER SIDE? so, i just write this application in my free time for them. This application seems to be simple to end user and developers but it evolves some magic tricks which let u play swf files in full screen without editing the source of the swf file.As my previous projects, this is also an hybrid application between symbian c++ & flash lite.

Issue

In few software versions of Nokia 5800, when u run a stub application developed using swfpack.com (or may be other packaging tools) then it wont get closed on pressing red key. However, there is a work around posted by Risalmin in Forum Nokia .

Fix

Fix of this issue is quite easy i.e listen to red key event in Flash Lite and excecute the fscommand2 for quiting app. Use this AS code , to acheive the task :

var keyListener:Object = new Object();
keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {
if(Key.getCode()=="endcall"){
fscommand2("Quit");
}
}
Key.addListener(keyListener);

HTC Hero.

http://www.adobe.com/tw/products/flashlite/version/

Youtube.

Flash 9.

例如 Google Earth、Last.fm、與 Skype 等等.

Important feature of the software’s ability is data collection. Rapid and precise collection of information, which is then sent instantly to a central server, speeds up what is currently a time-consuming paper-based activity.

Actual aggregation of the data which helps to build a picture of what’s happening and where.

Getting the information back to local practitioners, as it then enables them to take appropriate action. What marks HealthRadar out further is the ability to consume the data either on a mobile device or a PC, so the gathered data is useful to people in the field and those based in medical centres.

The software also features a Dashboard which enables users to quickly access key information including a daily update, a GeoHealth Map which highlights disease intensity alongside local health centres, the ability to compare current patterns against historic ones and statistical graphs.

Please click for the original article in the Washington Post here.

Adobe Pushes for a Flash-ier Mobile Web The Web browsers on such smartphones as Apple’s iPhone, devices running Google’s Android software and the Palm Pre (all based on the same open-source code framework) do an outstanding job of presenting full-sized Web pages, with one exception — displaying most Flash interactive content. You can watch YouTube video clips in separate applications, but that’s about it.

This morning, Flash developer Adobe Systems Inc. announced plans to change that — the upcoming 10.1 version of the Flash player will ship not just for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, but also for such mobile-phone platforms as Android, Research in Motion’s BlackBerry, Palm’s webOS, and Nokia’s Symbian. This new release, unlike the Flash Lite software available on some phones today, shouldn’t be limited to running special, simplified Flash animations. San Jose-based Adobe has also set up an Open Screen Project initiative with phone software and hardware vendors, Flash developers and media companies “to enable the delivery of rich multiscreen experiences built on a consistent runtime environment for open web browsing and standalone applications.”

Apple, however, is not joining Adobe in this effort. It’s never supported Flash on the iPhone, objecting to the Flash player’s processing and memory requirements, and it counsels Web developers looking to create iPhone-friendly sites to provide interactive features through existing, open Web standards instead of Flash. Will the lack of Flash start to set back the iPhone? It hasn’t so far, and I’m not sure that Flash 10.1 will change that. On the desktop, the Flash plug-in can gum up a browser faster than any other piece of Web content (especially, it seems, on a Mac), is frequently targeted by malware writers and can also be a pain to keep up to date. I don’t need a mobile version if it will inherit those traits. Flash has also enabled some of the Web’s most annoying, if not outright abusive, content: the animated site introductions that fill your browser’s screen and play an unwanted soundtrack when you only wanted to see a restaurant’s menu or learn about the new apartment building going up down the street. (Note: Please don’t click the last link with your computer’s speakers turned up at work.) Are you anxious to bring Flash to the mobile Web, even if it means being subjected to some over-eager Web coder’s song-and-dance routine? Or would you rather do without it on the go, even if that means having to switch to a “real” computer to use some Web sites’ features?

Any mobile phone can now play videos in the optimum quality. Please surf to www.sendvideotomobile.com to find out more.

My friend Sajid Ali has been working quite sometime on this project ‘SWFxME’ which aims

My friend Sajid Ali has been working quite sometime on this project ‘SWFxME’ which aims at extending Flash Lite capabilities with the use of Java ME and it has finally released. SWFxME is an open source project developed to extend Flash Lite with J2ME via HTTP server (written in J2ME code) and to provide more power to the developer by making a hybrid application.

Jarpa VS SWFxME

Then Jarpa is an XML Socket Server whereas SWFxME is a HTTP Server. Hence, SWFxME is more compatible (i.e from Flash Lite 1.1 to onwards) .

Compatibility
The minimum requirements for SWFxME :

Flash Lite 1.1

MIDP 2.0

JSR-75 (File Connection API) Support

It should have to work with a phone having these 3 characteristics provided that the platform doesn’t have any restrictions to write files, launching files or listening to a local port.

Built-In Functions
Current version has two built-in functions :

Write File

List Directory

This work seems quite exciting due to the low requirements of the tool.

For more info, please visit www.sajisoft.wordpress.com and its source at GoogleCode space.

I was working on a open source project from last 4 months.Today , i released this project under name

I was working on a open source project from last 4 months.Today , i released this project under name “SWFxME “.It is designed for the developers who want to give more power to their applications using a hybrid application (Flash Lite + JavaME) .Here are few details :

SWFxME:
SWFxME is an open source project developed to extend Flash Lite with J2ME via HTTP server (written in J2ME code) and to provide more power to the developer by making a hybrid application.
The developers who want to know the difference between Jarpa and SWFxME? Then Jarpa is an XML Socket Server whereas SWFxME is a HTTP Server .Hence, SWFxME is more compatible (i.e from Flash Lite 1.1 to onwards) .

Compatibility :
The minimum requirements for SWFxME :
1 – Flash Lite 1.1
2 – MIDP 2.0
3 – JSR-75 (File Connection API) Support
It should have to work with a phone having these 3 characteristics provided that the platform doesnt
have any restrictions to write files, launching files or listening to a local port.

Built-In Functions :
Current version has 2 built-in functions :
1 – Write File
2 – List Directory

Samples , Documentaion & Source :
Every Thing is available on SWFxME Project Page

Tested :
Currently tested with S60 phones (E50, N78 & 5800) but i love to know about other phones like (S40 and SE etc)

Screenshots of the sample :

As this is the first release, i want other developers to test it on their devices and provide feedback .So, the next releases are much more compatible and samples for different platforms will be available .

Best Regards,

Adobe (s adbe) today unveiled a new version of Flash in an effort to expand support for the popular

Adobe (s adbe) today unveiled a new version of Flash in an effort to expand support for the popular technology beyond the traditional Internet to mobile phones, netbooks, set-top boxes and other connected consumer devices. Flash Player 10.1 will run on platforms including Google’s (s goog) Android, Research In Motion’s (s rimm) BlackBerry, Microsoft’s (s msft) Windows Mobile, Nokia’s (s nok) Symbian and Palm’s (s palm) webOS. Conspicuous in its absence, of course, was Apple’s (s aapl) iPhone.

While Adobe has said it is working with Apple, there’s still no word on a version for the iPhone — which dominates traffic on the wireless web. However, Adobe made another announcement today — it has updated the participants in its Open Screen Project, an 18-month-old initiative promoting Flash to bridge the substantial gaps that exist between the “PC web” and other platforms such as mobile and consumer devices, to include Google and RIM.

Flash has become ubiquitous on the Internet, where it is used to support animated graphics and interactive functionality for web pages and advertisements. But that ubiquity is a problem for anyone who wants to bring the web to devices that aren’t built on traditional x86 hardware or operating systems that aren’t designed to run Flash.

The lack of support for Flash has been a substantial problem on the mobile web, where browsers and transcoding technologies have had to strip out Flash-based applications entirely as they format web content for handsets, delivering an inferior experience for mobile users. So Adobe last year created the Open Screen Project in conjunction with several media and technology heavyweights including MTV Networks, ARM, Cisco (s csco), Intel (s intc), LG Electronics and Verizon Wireless to make sure anyone who wants to watch web-based video can, no matter the device or the software.

So while the iPhone is an important mobile platform, the Open Screen Project, and bringing Flash to everything, is a far bigger play. Google’s announcement today that it will join the project shouldn’t be read merely as a mobile phone play, but also as a deeper effort to bring Android to consumer devices like set-top boxes and digital photo frames. With the strong presence of Flash on the web and a program like the Open Screen Project, Adobe has bought Flash a bigger future as the web moves beyond the PC and even smartphones.

For example, the inclusion of so many handset makers in the project reflects how much work ARM, the company that licenses its IP cores to mobile handset makers, has done to make sure Flash can run on chips containing ARM cores. ARM showed off Flash 10 running on its architecture last November, and is pushing its chips deep into netbooks, set-top boxes and other consumer devices. It’s no coincidence that Intel, with its x86-based chips that the web was originally built on, is also trying to follow the web into those devices. If ARM hadn’t embraced Flash, it’s a good bet that the web experience on gadgets using ARM chips would have turned consumers and, thus, device makers, off.

So for those keeping track, Adobe plans to have versions of Flash 10.1 for Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, webOS and Windows Mobile by next year. But keep an eye on the Open Screen Project and Flash’s move beyond handsets and PCs in the coming months. The iPhone is awesome, but getting the full web experience on your set-top box or TV is something that represents a far bigger opportunity.

One of the most commonly used technologies to view videos on a computer will be soon going to exist

One of the most commonly used technologies to view videos on a computer will be soon going to exist on the smartphones. Yes the Flash software is the only technology that delivers around 75 % of videos online and it is the key technology used in the website such as YouTube and Google Video. Till now, many netbooks and smart phones are using a light version of the program, because of the inadequate processing power of the devices. However, there is good news for the users who are using smartphones that is the new software is going to work on the smartphones as working in the desktop PC.

Adobe, the maker of flash has revealed that it should be soon occur on higher end handsets by 2010. Flash is one of the most used software installed on computers, which is found to be about 98% of PCs and 75% of all online video that are delivered using this software. It powers the services such as BBC iPlayer and over 75% of the web based application video games. But until now the full version of the software is not available on the Smartphones. Instead the users are using the software Flash Lite which is down version of the media software. Flash Lite is presently installed on 40% of all new mobile phones and also offered in the lower end handsets. The booming in the mobile web results in developing the new software which is known as Flash 10.1.

In earlier there is no capability available for browsing in the smartphones as browsing in the computer desktop. But there is a drastically change in development of smartphones in the recent years leads to the change in developing the software that meets the requirements of the current technology. This new software will support the high definition quality video and also be used with the touch screen devices. It is the initiative as the Open Screen Project that aims to develop a flexible media platform for games and film videos, which can run on any devices from mobile phones to set top boxes.
This new software will be available for Palm WebOs, Windows Mobile and the desktop operating systems including Linux, Macintosh and Windows. The trial version of the software for Google Andriod and the popular Symbian OS are to be expected in the early of 2010. However the same will not be available for the Apple iPhone, which was stated by one of its software professional. They are also looking for the Apple cooperation to see their software on Apple devices. But at the present time Apple doesn’t support any plugin in their devices.

After many late nights of coding, I am pleased to release my mobileMAX application. This mobile app will allow you to quickly view the conference schedule for not only the official Adobe sessions but all four of the unConferences. Additionally, you will be able to view the schedule of your chosen sessions (assuming you got the MAX scheduler to behave).

Home Screen for the Flash Lite version

iPhone Session Listing

There are four versions available; a Flash Lite 3.1 version (using the Adobe Mobile Packager), a Windows Mobile version (also using AMP), a Flash Lite 2.1 version, and yes an iPhone web version.

To get started, go to http://nuclearpathways.org/clients/max/ (I work on several sites related to the history of the Atomic Age and decided to just use one of those servers for the project). Once you have made an account, log back in to the Adobe MAX scheduler and copy the webcal URL for your schedule. Paste that into the web application and let it process your schedule. Once that is done you can download the mobileMAX app for your device. You don’t need do this, but the app becomes more useful if you do.

For the iPhone version, I created a custom web app. After opening the URL in Safari, click the “Add to Homescreen” button to create a shortcut.

It has been a blast building this and I hope the community finds it helpful. See you at MAX!

Richard Galvan and Mark Anders, “Senior” Principle Scientist at Adobe, were back again this year with an update on the Flash platform and a sneak peek on Flash CS5 and the new Flash Mobile features. YES. IT IS FLASH CS5

Marc Anders started off by going over the current platform situation and Flash Player 10 installs continue to impress. New figures due out shortly will put the coverage at over 90%. Mark used some community demos to run through features in the Flash Player 10 and AIR runtimes. (Click any of the images to see the high-rez version)

Flash CS5

Richard Galvan gave us our first sneak peak of “Viper” Flash Professional CS5. The big news for developers is that Flash authoring finally gets integration with FlashBuilder. If you’re using Flash CS5, a new FlashBuilder project can be created from Flash CS5 through a new export dialogue.

There had been varied rumors had been flying around for a few days before this FOTB’09 that that we would be able to check some sneak peaks at this year’s Adobe keynote, and that’s exactly what happened. Richard Galvan and Mark Anders, “Senior” Principle Scientist at Adobe, were back again this year with an update on the Flash platform and a sneak peek on Flash CS5 and the new Flash Mobile features. YES, IT IS FLASH CS5.

Marc Anders started off by going over the current platform situation and Flash Player 10 installs continue to impress. New figures due out shortly will put the coverage at over 90%. Mark used some community demos to run through features in the Flash Player 10 and AIR runtimes.

Flash CS5

Richard Galvan gave first sneak peak of “Viper” Flash Professional CS5. The big news for developers is that Flash authoring finally gets integration with FlashBuilder. If you’re using Flash CS5, a new FlashBuilder project can be created from Flash CS5 through a new export dialogue.

Rest will be followed here in Flashmagazine.

I have been planning to write on this article for such a long time. This post discusses the straight

I have been planning to write on this article for such a long time. This post discusses the straightforward way to create HQ flash content on Mobile phones and reach out to the million handsets buzzing over the planet.

Well, say for example you are creating a game or an application for Nokia or Windows phones, these are the essential steps that you need to run through. the prerequisites include Adobe Mobile Packager 1.1, Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 Distributable player, Adobe Flash CS3 or CS4 and Symbian SDK.

First, download the Mobile Packager from Adobe Site or here.

The Adobe Mobile Packager is tool that can create SIS or CAB files ( installation files for the Symbian and Windows mobile platforms respectively) from the SWF you are going to create. Before the installation of Adobe Mobile Packager, you need to install the latest version of Perl and Symbian SDK. If you have not installed it, then no worries. You will be automatically directed to the URL for the dependency download. So, now we have crossed the first step of installing the Adobe Mobile Packager.

Next, install the Flash Lite 3.1 distributable player solution. What it does ? Say for example your content is delivered to a handset that does not possess Flash Lite 3.1 ( but is capable of doing so – considering memory and processing abilities), then on receiving your SWF in 3.1 version, a prompt appears asking him to download the latest version of flash Lite 3.1 for devices. Of course, this is an OTA install and you need to be located in those supporting countries. Get the distributable player from here.

The third step, build your application using Adobe Flash CS3 or CS4.

Its always important to test the application written in Adobe Device Central. So, this is the fourth step – to perform Robust testing in Device Central. To test the applications better or to learn about batch testing, you read my article here in Forum Nokia Wiki.

Entering the final stage .Now that you have coded and tested the application / game, you are a step away from deployment. Use the Adobe Mobile Packager (downloaded in Step 1), to create a SIS or CAB file as per your requirement. At this stage, you can specify the Application name, give it an icon and many more as you can see.

Once you click the CREATE PACKAGE, a SIS or CAB ( as requested) would be created in the destination folder specified. What are you waiting for ? Test it on a physical device and reach out to the millions of customers out there
