I am yet to sift through all the Adobe MAX 2009 videos.

I find it really generous of Adobe to put all of these up. Even if most of it is marketing, they still share a few gems of information. Really worthwhile for guys like me, who end up being so busy there’s little hope of attending an actual MAX event unless planned at least six months ahead of time.

To me the most important ones are the support for USB (mass storage devices) and native apps (so you can now open a word document from within AIR). I am still a bit skep about the performance, but, I am sure this is going to improve over the new version too…

Nesta semana a Adobe liberou os novos betas do Flash Player 10.1 que foi apresentado na MAX Conference 2009 no início de Outubro deste ano.

Os novos recursos do Flash Player foram desenvolvidos para oferecer uma reprodução mais eficiente de conteúdo, tirando proveito da aceleração de hardware. Estes recursos foram sugestões indicadas pelos maiores desenvolvedores de smartphones e netbooks do mundo.

Apesar de ser apenas uma versão beta, o produto já demonstra muita estabilidade e um gigantesco potencial, principalmente para usuários do Mac que passaram por experiências de reprodução ruins nas versões anteriores.

No caso de seu computador possuir uma GPU compatível com ele, a reprodução de vídeos em H.264 pelo plugin será muito mais suave e bem definida, com reduções em uso de CPU e RAM, tempo de inicialização e consumo de energia.

Per chi come me ha a che fare con computer non nuovissimi avrà potuto notare che con il passare degli anni e dei mesi le risorse che occupa il flash player sono sempre maggiori.
Ero arrivato ad avere la cpu fissa al 100% con un solo advertiser della IBM (su punto informatico) .. per non parlare poi di pagine come gazzetta.it … impossibili da guardare.. i filmati di youtube..sempre più lenti…
Bene!  Invece di tenermi l’ultimo aggiornatissimo player (versione 10) .. ho fatto qualche passo indietro provando varie versioni e sono arrivato ad usare la versione 8  r42 che sembra stabile, molto poco esosa di risorse e ancora supportata dai vari youtube e siti con contenuti flash.

..niente volevo condividere con voi questo ‘piccolo’ successo..e magari tornerà utile a qualcun altro.

Un caro saluto a tutti.

Nueva versión en periodo de prueba únicamente para 32 bits, pues la versión para 64 bits aún sigue en periodo alpha desde julio de este año.

Para instalarla hay que tener en cuenta que es una versión en desarrollo y puede causar problemas, aunque a mi me va bien. En el ejemplo siguiente la instalación la he hecho sobre una instalación en limpio de Ubuntu 9.10 . Desconozco dónde esté ubicado en otras versiones o distribuciones, pero podéis verlo en el buscador de archivos si estáis en Gnome menú Lugares–> Buscar archivos–> libflashplayer.so –> Buscar en todos los archivos, si obtenemos más de un resultado debemos desechar los enlaces simbólicos, descritos en el navegador de archivos con una flecha en semicírculo .

Para instalar el plugin abrimos la terminal y nos bajamos el archivo tar.gz de la web de Adobe:

wget http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_1_p1_linux_111709.tar.gz

Nos situamos en el directorio donde descargamos el archivo tar.gz anteponiendo el comando cd, espacio y sitio de descarga, en mi caso lo he descargado dentro de mi carpeta personal marcada en rojo (cambiadla por la vuestro usuario y/o destino) :

cd /home/noctuido

Descomprimimos el archivo:

tar xvfz flashplayer10_1_p1_linux_111709.tar.gz

Nos situamos dentro de la carpeta:

cd install_flash_player_10_linux

Iniciamos la instalación:

sudo ./flashplayer-installer

Borramos el actual plugin de flash

sudo rm /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so

Y copiamos el nuevo plugin al mismo directorio (cambiar la ruta inicial marcada en rojo del descomprimido por la vuestra):

sudo cp /home/noctuido/install_flash_player_10_linux/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/

Ya deberíamos tener el nuevo plugin, para comprobarlo escribimos about:plugins en la barra de direcciones del navegador.

Una vez satisfecha la instalación podemos eliminar los archivos de descarga y el descomprimido:

rm flashplayer10_1_p1_linux_111709.tar.gz

Sustituir la ruta dónde os lo descargásteis ya que el ejemplo es  para dónde la descargué yo (marcado en rojo):

rm -rf /home/noctuido/install_flash_player_10_linux/

Both Adobe AIR 2.0 and Flash Player 10.1:

- boast support for multi-touch and gestures (yes, you’d need a machine with a touch screen)
- include a global error handler, which enables devs to write a single handler to process all runtime errors
- (finally) support local microphone access, so you’ll no longer need to first pass through a server in order to record audio locally on both Flash Platform runtimes

Lots of new stuff in Flash Player 10.1 including the multi-touch APIs, the performance gains, and some new networking APIs.Adobe Flash Player 10.1 now also leverages hardware decoding of H.264 video on Windows PCs, netbooks and mobile devices.

Also new in Adobe AIR 2.0 and worthy of a mention:

- Native process API: enables apps to communicate with native applications on local machines
- Mass storage device detection: plug in your Flip camera or that USB stick you got as a gift at the last conference you attended, and AIR 2 applications will be able to detect them
- Open document API: with it, AIR apps can ‘ask’ the OS what the default application is associated with files and function accordingly
- Improved socket support: think AIR-powered local servers and P2P apps
- Speedier WebKit: updated version that includes a faster JavaScript engine and new HTML5/CSS3 capabilities

Upload and download require user interaction

In Flash Player 9, ActionScript could perform uploads and downloads at any time. With Flash Player 10, the FileReference.browse and FileReference.download operations may be initiated only through ActionScript that originates from user interaction. This includes actions such as clicking the mouse or pressing the keyboard.

What does the above mean?  Apparently user interaction must directly perform a file download, as opposed to calling a web service and then performing a file download, which was my case.

La introducción de la navegación anónima o privada en los navegadores, ha supuesto un logro en cuanto a comodidad a la hora de pasar páginas por la red, sin necesidad de borrar las cookies o el historial. Navegadores como Google Chrome, Firefox o Arora incorporan esta función como ya expliqué en otro artículo.

Sin embargo hay otros sitios de nuestro sistema,  en donde se registran datos de nuestra actividad en la red. Si queremos borrar esos rastros, debemos proceder de la siguiente manera.

Para eliminar los datos del caché DNS, hay que reiniciar el demonio nscd, para lo cual abrimos la terminal y pegamos lo siguiente si estamos en Ubuntu:

sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart

O si estamos en Fedora y otras que no tengan sudoers:

su -
etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart

Para las cookies de Flash Player igualmente procederemos a configurar este plugin, así que abrimos este enlace para las opciones generales. Ahí podemos especificar el volumen  de Kb de cookies que queremos que se almacenen, así como anular cualquier almacenamiento.

Ya que estamos en el sitio web de configuración del Flash player, podemos configurar el vídeo y el micrófono para evitar el clickjacking en los navegadores vía flash. Para ello elegimos “Denegar siempre”

También podéis eliminar los datos directamente borrando el perfil de Macromedia, que se encuentra en /home/[usuario]/.macromedia/ . Después de borrado reaparecerá siempre y cuando no desistalemos el Flash Player, con lo que no hay problema en borrarlo, ya que serían borrados los datos anteriores.
