Last night my friend Rosie came over and the three of us had a pseudo-Thanksgiving dinner together. I say pseudo because I wasn’t really able to do it the way it would have been done back home, due to the utter lack of several key ingredients (canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce) and the staggering cost of others ($41 turkey). This was Rosie’s first Thanksgiving and so we had a little chat about what people in the US typically eat. I felt a little weird trying to describe a “typical” meal, as I am aware that I come from a particular background and Our food is not necessarily what someone in another part of the country (ie the south, the northeast) might consider typical. I think my family does a pretty traditional spread though: turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, bread, cranberry sauce, and I tried to recreate that here. Depending on who you ask it was either delicious and exciting or the most mediocre meal ever made. I’ll let you guess which critique belongs to whom. And to go along with what I considered a less than stellar performance, here are my less than stellar photos:

Just for the record we ate: roast chicken, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, stuffing, green beans and gluten-free apple pie. the pie was the best part in my opinion, despite the fact that the gluten-free crust was a little hard and the filling was a little overly sweet (my Granny Smiths were less than tart and silly me didn’t adjust the amount of sugar accordingly). I will say that Rosie is a lovely dinner guest. She brought me a super cute plant, fawned over my meal and didn’t mention the fact that our living room is packed with cardboard boxes (flatmates’ shipped possessions finally arrived yesterday). It was nice to have company for the first time, and it was nice to have a little holiday celebration, even if we were thousands of miles away from our families. I hope everyone out there had a great holiday. Now on to Christmas!

I had mentioned quite a few posts ago about working on the ASI INVADER Ferrari F430 for the 2009 SEMA YEAR. Well, unfortunately a plethora of things happened, schedulings and what not and was unable to complete it. BUT, not showing up to SEMA without the Ferrari was not an option. So To no avail the quality work and team that brought this together was GT Pro in conjunction with Mastermind (TR Trading). The Amazing thing is the whole project took about 2 weeks to build, and was actually put together in three days. Such quality work in a short amount of time is highly impressive and I am glad to see that the car was able to show up.

సరళ తో నా పెళ్ళి కి రెండు పక్కలా పెద్ద వాళ్ళను ఒప్పించడానికి ఒక పెద్ద తపస్సే చేయవలసి వచ్చింది. మద్రాస్ లో జరిగిన మా పెళ్ళీకి మా ఇద్దరి ఫ్రెండ్స్ కొందరు, నా వైపు నుండీ కొద్ది మందీ, సరళ వైపు నుండీ చాలా మందీ వచ్చారు. మా పెళ్ళైన రోజే నా ప్రాజెక్ట్ మేట్ మనీష్ పెళ్ళీ కూడా అయింది,బీహార్ లో. పెళ్ళయిన తరువాత హనీమూన్ కి ఊటీ వెళ్ళి వచ్చాం. పెళ్ళి కోసం పెట్టిన లీవ్ చాలా త్వరగా అయిపోయింది.

దానికాయన, “నీకు బీ ఒన్ వీసా అప్ప్లై చేయాలి. ఆ వీసా తో వైఫ్ ని తీసుకొని వెళ్ళడం కుదరదు” అన్నాడు.  “నీతో పాటు మనీష్ కూడా యూ ఎస్ వస్తున్నాడు. మనీష్ ది హెచ్ ఒన్. కాబట్టీ అతను వైఫ్ ని కూడా తీసుకొని వెళ్తున్నాడు” అని కూడా అన్నాడు.

ఆ రోజే మా మేనేజర్ కి యెస్ చెప్పి తరవాతి రోజు వీసా కి అప్ప్లై చెశాను వీసా రావటానికి ఇరవై రోజులు పట్టవచ్చు. మూడు నెలలు ప్రాజెక్ట్ యూ ఎస్ లో, వెళ్ళవలసినది లాస్ ఎంజెలెస్.  బీ ఒన్ వీసా మీద పని చేయకూడదు కాబట్టి, యూ ఎస్ లో ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ కౌంటర్ లో బిజినెస్ కోసం వెళ్తున్నానని అబద్దం చెప్పాలి అని బ్రీఫ్ చేశారు మా కంపనీ హెచ్ ఆర్ మొబిలిటీ వాళ్ళు.

Nov 17, 2009 A NATIONAL Environment support officer persistently wanted to meet the mother of an underaged smoker in private and even texted her for sex, a district court heard.

The complainant, a woman in her 40s, reported Koh Hui Chong to the authority and a trap was laid when he turned up at her flat on May 6 last year.

The 43-year-old admitted to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau officers he had contacted the woman with the intention of having sex with her. He even brought along three condoms.

He had hoped that if the complainant had sex with him, he would then not take any form of action against her teenage son for smoking and littering.

The court heard that Koh had caught the woman’s 15-year-old son and another boy smoking in a prohibited area at a playground in Serangoon Central earlier on April 28. He obtained the boy’s details from his EZ-Link card and told him he would be booked for underaged smoking and other offences.

Koh, who pleaded guilty to trying to get sexual favours from the boy’s mother, is expected to be sentenced on Dec 1. He faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years.
