In occasione del ventennale della ns Federazione abbiamo partecipato io e la tesoriera Sara Gangi alla giornata celebrativa a Torino, in quella occasione c’è stata anche una conferenza stampa da cui  sono stati redatti diversi articoli, vi invio quello più completo e significativo.

Inoltre, devo dire che ho vissuto una  grande emozione a tornare in Federazione in un momento così importante con una persona come Sara, che  ha saputo rappresentare la nuova generazione dei logopedisti siciliani.
Per me si è così  realizzato il sogno di riuscire a formare professionisti capaci che possono entrare a pieno titolo negli organismi rappresentativi la categoria.
Questo è stato un altro momento che si aggiunge ad altri vissuti con i giovani laureati, con la speranza di averne ancora tanti con tutti voi.

So about a month ago I was cooking meatballs for the spaghetti…. and I was cooking it on a cookie sheet with ventelation holes… unfortunately common sense didn’t kick in til we heard the grease spilling out onto the oven floor and the smoke alarm going off everytime the oven door was opened.

But! since then we haven’t had any problems… until yesterday.

Just like any other easy-meal night I decide to make pizza rolls. I preheat my oven to 425 and pop the suckers in.  Only 5 minutes into the cooking I hear sizzling, which is odd… it takes 10-12 minutes for pizza rolls, so I peer into the oven and orange flames are rising up around my poor pizza rolls!  I slam the door and exclaim, “SHARAYAH! There’s a fire in there!”  Sharayah calmly came over peeked in and had nearly the same reaction. LOL

So we searched for a fire extinguisher… Since there was none to be found, I called 911 for my first time ever and then ran to get the boys downstairs.  I calmly said, “Hey guys! so I have a fire in my oven do you think you’d be able to help?”  John hung up his phone and started frantically telling me not to put water on it, they grab their shoes and run upstairs.  Thankfully our strong men came to the rescue, unplugging the oven and carrying it outside as we waited for the fireman to get here.

So… that’s my wonderful story! I knew you were waiting in suspense!!

During LCU’s Fall break Greg drove out to visit me here in Colorado Springs.    It was really nice to have a warm heart from back home around. Thankfully the weather was nice too so I was able to show him some of Colorado’s gorgeous landscape, like the Garden of the gods!  We also spent some time at the theatre (saw Fame, finally!), chilling, in class, and whatnot.

I also pushed out my cooking skills while he was here… Lately all I’ve had time to do is pizza rolls and tv dinners, but this weekend I put out Jeff’s lasagna, Amie’s zuppa tuscana, my ham apple sandwich, and some cookies! ^_^  It was fun, but I’m cooked out.

Last Friday I spent a six hour school day training to work with Justice For All. Justice For All (or JFA) is an organization that travels to different campuses to bring awareness and challenges to the abortion issue and facilitate conversations with students on the subject. The first day was incredibly draining both physically and emotionally.  After seeing samples of the display boards with graphic pictures of aborted children I couldn’t do much outside nap and take a walk to unwind from the exhaustive training.

The following Monday and Tuesday our team went to the University of New Mexico (UNM) and put our training into practice.  Turns out the training was actually very helpful!  Even though role playing seemed unnecessary at the time, several conversations seemed to read straight from the manual…  Anywho, it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, but it was a great experience all the same.  I met some wonderful people and got to connect with a few.  A guy named Zane, for example, asked me what I thought about the exhibit.  After discussing our personal views on the sanctity of life we both agreed abortion was wrong, but standing up for that was hard.  I tried to encourage him that we could make a difference and that it was an issue worth fighting for… “I guess we’re all in this together” he said… I couldn’t help it, so I started singing the Highschool Musical Song.  He joined in.  We danced.  We Connected.  It was great. lol.

On the second day during open mic a lady started a small scene on the edges of our circle yelling that the pictures were provoking anger and emotions that were uncalled for.  She admitted she had had two abortions with no remorse and claimed it was every woman’s right to do the same.  At that point James came up and said, “I was going to be aborted, but instead I was given up for adoption.  How can you stand here and fight for my life to have been aborted?”  The lady stood firm in her decision and said his parents could have just as rightly chosen abortion.  “Do you know what it’s like to know you weren’t wanted? to feel unwanted? Looking at these pictures how can you possibly think that’s ok?!” James stormed off and I ran after him.  I was at a loss for words, but all I wanted to do was let him know I appreciated his comments, I valued his words, and I valued his life…. His story broke my heart.

Another story that really hit the group happened during open mic.  There was a table sitting adjacent to our exhibit that read “Pro-Family, Pro-Faith, Pro-Choice.”  I thought it was a really interesting combination so I had gone over there the previous day just to see what their mission was… the lady behind the table was incredibly hostile and refused to talk to me because I was “with JFA.”  The next day the same lady wanted to voice her opinions at JFA’s open mic.. she announced to everyone that people from Focus on the Family were parading around masked as UNM students to decieve everyone.  It’s weird how much more attacks one will recieve being associated with a name like Focus on the Family.  After her speech Justin, Jessy, Steve, and I prayed for encouragement and to stand firm because we were all there for a reason.  Satan certainly likes to take small bits of truth and skew them

It was a great trip though and I felt that the experiences I shared with my team strengthened us over the weekend.

Last weekend my roomies and I went up to Manitou which is a town up in the mountains lined with cute little shops.  I didn’t buy anything other than a few postcards, but we had fun with a mini photoshoot and tasting water pumped from the various springs.  It proved to be a nice bonding experience and a nice time to just relax.

Another thing my roomies and I are starting to do is have a couple other apartments over every Friday for supper.  This way we can rotate and get to know everyone.  It’s been really awesome so far!!  One night we had all the fixings for nachos and got to know a few other girls and plan some pranks that might take place in the near future… Then on Monday we had the guys from downstairs over and the chemistry was just really cool.  We got along well with one another, and everyone stayed after dinner to study (P.S. my meatballs turned out fantastic, regardless of the smoke alarms).  Anywho, I like having a bond with our neighbors and I’m excited to see what God does through this community.

I’ve also recently gotten involved in a process group here at focus.  There’s about 12 of us girls who meet every Thursday at focus with Romie from Focus’ psych department (I think lol.. she works here atleast).  We’re still all warming up to eachother, but it’s going to be a great safe community to grow and hash through some things.

So ya, Kristin and Sharayah have been awesome! ^_^

This Sunday I tried out Rocky Mountain Calvary Church. You can hear the sermons on their podcast.

I’m going to visit a couple more times and perhaps a few more places before I settle down, although I really did enjoy today’s sermon on Genesis chapter 2.  A lot of great things were said concerning marriage and relationships.  Check it out!

One downside is their College Ministry is the same night as swing… so we’ll see…

400 pages in and I’ve got one week behind me!

The most recent book I read was The Search for Significance by Robert S. McGee and I found it to be quite convicting!  I think I would have reaped more out of it had I taken the chapters slower and made time for more reflection.  All in all it was a good read and did make me think- What are the motives behind my drive? or withdrawal from pursuit?  The book guides you and shows how much will stem out of one’s self-image.  It then reshapes your image by grounding it in who you are because of Christ.  Outside this book I’ve dug into Case for Marriage, Breaking the Cycle, Humility, Roaring Lambs, and How Christianity Changed the World.

As far as my social life goes… it gets put on hold quite often due to study nights in the hot tub, but!  I have kept up with swing and enjoy it immensely! I also got to go out to the Garden of the gods.  It was really neat to climb around some of the rocks and enjoy God’s creation.

The Axis team chose me along with five other students (Heather Fison, Jared Johnson, Jessy League, Kristin Zanon, and Brian Pelon) to work with them for our practicum this semester.

I’m extremely excited about this ministry and the opportunities it will present in our group. The mission of Axis is to look at pop culture today and unearth the worldviews behind it. Through skits, media clips, and personal testimonies, Axis presents several questions to Junior High, Highschool, and College students about what they are consuming of today’s world. This approach intrigues the students and doesn’t necessarily push them away. On top of that we discuss some of the top worldviews in our culture and their differences and why setting a worldview is important.

It will certainly be a tough semester having to do research, blog, and travel for this team on top of my 150 pages a night, but I’m so excited to see where God puts all of us this semester.

Coming to Colorado I knew I wanted to get some swing in!  It’s sad that not too many people know how in central IL or if they do we never have a place to go!!  Well a friend of mine from LCU always raved about dancing in the springs so I had Andrea hook us up!  She got me and about 20 other FLI students in with her Brat ID.

It was such a blast!  Everyone got to take lessons in the hallways, and we danced the night away for free ^_^  I even got to be thrown around a little bit as well as learn some new moves!  I’m pretty excited, maybe by the time I come back I’ll know how to Lindy Hop and Blues too.

I settled into my apartment yesterday about two and a half hours after starting my move. My roommates, Kristin and Sharayah, are both incredibly sweet! Kristin really made the place more homey with her decorating skills, and they both helped lead worship last night.

Anywho, following worship that night we had a talk with Tackett! He referenced Exodus 34 and 2 Cor. 3 and pointed out that Moses veiled his face more so in disgrace that he was losing God’s reflection… and that now in Christ we can reflect God. If we live among Him, we can reflect His image… certainly it’s not an easy task though!

I found that incredibly inspiring… Too often we use our “sinful nature” as a crutch to stop trying and truly living out for God!

A few other things I’ve learned today can be summed up in these quotes.. if you want me to expand feel free to ask.

• “To be transformed into His likeness you must know Him.”
• We pray for you all to receive the second sight… not only to believe Him but to know Him in a way that causes you to jump in and live it. (Mark 10:46ff)
• Will this be your Jericho?  Will you cry out to God here and let Him make your sight clear?
• Community is a tool, not the goal… (if you find community here, that’s great, but you missed the big picture.. community is a tool to bring you to God and His purpose in your life).

OH! another nice tidbit… there are 54 girls and 18 boys here on campus AND 5,060+ pages will be read by me by the end of this semester….

Cari colleghi, oggi vi voglio invitare ad essere partecipi del futuro della nostra professione.

In senato è presente ad oggi un Disegno di Legge, che riguarda l’istituzione degli Ordini Professionali e degli Albi delle Professioni Sanitarie e riabilitative.
Ciò significa che, dopo tanti anni, la politica italiana sta cercando finalmente di occuparsi di elementi indispensabili per la nostra profesione e per il futuro del nostro lavoro: gli Ordini Professionali di Logopedia e delle altre professioni sanitarie.

Ora però tocca a noi! Considerando che si tratta ancora infatti di un disegno di legge, quindi di una sola intenzione di emanare un atto legislativo, dobbiamo in massa votare un importante sondaggio che riguarda proprio la misura di gradimento di questo disegno di legge.

In poche parole, più voti favorevoli arrivano al sondaggio, e maggiormente prenderanno in considerazione l’emanazione della legge che andrà ad istituire i nostri Ordini Professionali.

Cari Colleghi,
per quanto inusuale nella modalità, la Commissione del Senato preposta all’analisi del ddl 1142 presterà molta attenzione al risultato di un sondaggio che hanno voluto istituire sulla condivisione/gradimento popolare dell’istituzione degli Ordini professionali (http://parlamento.openpolis.it/singolo_atto/25108).

Il ddl in questione rappresenta, oggi, l’unica reale base operativa per completare il percorso avviato dall’approvazione della legge 43.
Come vedrete, si può esprimere il voto attraverso le icone “pollice verso” e “pollice in alto”; per quanto apparentemente ludico possa sembrare, vi garantisco che la Commissione auspica una notevolissima partecipazione.

Questa potrebbe essere percepita come una virtuale prova di forza, da qui l’importanza di attivare il nostro network, anche in un periodo per molti già festivo.
Colgo l’occasione per invitarvi, quindi, ad una concreta e significativa adesione (anche attraverso il coinvolgimento di parenti, utenti, persone indirettamente coinvolte nell’istituzione degli ordini professionali).

Cari Colleghi,
giovedì 23/07 si è riunita la Commissione Igiene e Santà al Senato per esaminare gli emendamenti presentati sul DDL 1142.
Il numero di emendamenti presentati è di 58, l’esame degli stessi sarà fatto questa settimana ma molto probabilmente, la decisione di quali accettare e quali rigettare sarà spostata a settembre causa il periodo imminente delle ferie istituzionali.

Il DDL ha comunque ricevuto il parere favorevole dalla Commissione Affari Regionali, si attende ora il parere delle altre Commissioni.
Il clima comunque è rasserenato da una unanimità e impegno diffuso tra i diversi componenti a noi vicini, anche se sappiamo che questo non ci può tranquillizzare.

Vi giro comunque un’importante iniziativa lanciata da OPENPARLAMENTO sul voto online dei vari DDL.

C’è  da votare e da far votare tutti i nostri Soci ma anche amici e parenti, utenti TUTTI, seguendo le istruzioni che il CONAPS ha divulgato a tutte le Associazioni creando un grande movimento di opinione, del resto già adottato negli anni che abbiamo trascorso.

Mi auguro che siamo in tanti a votare e a far votare il POLLICE VERDE IN SU come vedrete, in questo momento ne tengono conto anche perchè come vedrete, votano anche i contrari!!!

Usually i consider a stock in a full reversal if its correction is more than 20% from its recent high. Example
MEG, recent high 1.26, less 20%, the reversal level is 0.98. overall, chart of meg is still above its bband and rsi is still positive but a breakdown at 0.98 will aggravate further selling and 0.90 is likely an easy target. a “tsupitero” or a short term trader may buy at this level 0.98 (with a tight stop loss) in a “hope” this level will hold and price to bounce back at the 1.04-1.08 level for an easy 6% to 10% gross profit.
