Recentemente ho capito una cosa che a molti, immagino, potrà sembrare un po’ la scoperta dell’acqua calda: le comunità on line sono centrate sull’utente.

Ora, questa constatazione, benché perentoria, non sembra particolarmente cospicua quanto a implicazioni e si tende a non tirare le conclusioni che comporta. Tuttavia, se ci si pensa bene, l’affermazione di cui sopra vuol dire che l’utente genera una comunità nel momento in cui accede alla rete, una comunità che è composta dai legami che lo stesso utente instaura con l’accesso (penso alla comunità dei propri contatti, una volta che si accede a Facebook o a Skype) o con la produzione di un contenuto (penso ai visitatori del proprio blog o della propria pagina su Flickr).

Ora, si noti una cosa: questa comunità esiste solo agli occhi di chi la genera, ovvero esiste in termini fattuali ma proiettivi. Gli individui, che la connessione dell’utente riunisce nella comunità da lui generata, non vedono la stessa comunità che vede l’utente ma altre, generate a loro volta dalla connessione di quei stessi individui. L’utente di partenza partecipa a quelle comunità ma non nei termini in cui crede di partecipare alla comunità che ha generato e in cui si muove (crede di muoversi).

È una situazione sottilmente paradossale (e parecchio ironica). La comunità che proietta l’utente non è un’allucinazione: esiste, funziona (tant’è che l’utente stesso la tiene in moto) ma vive uno status precario, più o meno temporaneo e, diciamo, essenzialmente soggettivo. Manca quella dimensione “oggettiva”, “pubblica”, “autonoma” che in genere si attribuisce alla comunità. Eppure una dimensione oggettiva esiste, che è poi quella dell’infrastruttura della rete e che, però, viene sistematicamente obliterata e diventa una specie di meta-comunità.

Se applicassi una lettura allegorica a tutto questo, deriverei conclusioni tra l’utopistico ed il disperato sulla società all’inizio del XXI secolo e, quindi, non lo farò. Mi limito a sottolineare la responsabilità essenziale che ha, adesso, il singolo rispetto alla comunità. I rapporti si sono ribaltati: prima era la comunità che generava il soggetto; adesso è il soggetto che la genera e la mantiene.

PS: per stavolta evito anche di tirare conclusioni su ciò che comporta in termini di canone della comunità tutto questo (in verità lo faccio solo perché non l’ho completamente capito .

Sfogliando l’album Flickr di Alessandro (meglio noto con il nickname Trymanit)  è impossibile non rimanere colpiti dalle atmosfere di alcuni suoi scatti. Sensazioni anche forti, che so di condividere con altri.

A volte inquietanti, altre intriganti, le sue foto lasciano il segno. Fanno intravedere che dietro alla macchina fotografica prima, ed ai processi di trattamento poi, c’è un vero artista. Un grande appassionato.

Ciao Trymanit. Sfogliando Il tuo album su Flickr si percepisce una vena artistica ed un insieme di esperienze e passioni che convergono nella tua fotografia. E’ un’impressione sbagliata o c’è realmente un importante filo conduttore che lega i tuoi scatti.
Ciao, innanzi tutto sono onorato di venire intervistato, mi riempie di soddisfazione, come, mi riempie di soddisfazione la possibilità di vedere, sentire, anche toccare quello che l’uomo può fare quando esprime le sue capacità, le sue conoscenze, che siano queste arte o attività lavorativa oppure entrambe.
Mi piace osservare la manualità, che sia quella di un cesellatore, di un fabbro, di mia madre che fà l’uncinetto, non ha importanza, mi piace veder creare.
Come del resto sono affascinato da tutte le forme d’Arte, dalle sculture di Pomodoro a quelle di Staccioli; alla pittura di Hieronymus Bosch, De Chirico, i Macchiaioli, Vettriano ; alla musica, tutta, con quella che più mi ha segnato che è quella di fine anni ‘80, la new wave/Dark wave.
Il fatto che sfogliando il mio Album ti abbia dato questa sensazione mi lusinga, ma non c’è un filo conduttore prestabilito, sono le varie contaminazioni che mi portano a fare scatti anche molto diversi tra loro sia dal punto di vista prettamente visivo sia dal punto di vista del messaggio intrinseco.

E’ tanto che fotografi ? Raccontaci qualcosa di te e di come hai imparato a far foto.
Ho iniziato a fotografare nell’87, con una Nikon FE2 che possiedo tutt’ora.
Ho fotografato per 6/7 anni, poi ci sono stati dei cambiamenti che mi hanno portato a considerare la fotografia solo marginalmente, facendo solo qualche scatto durante qualche cena o ritrovo con gli amici.
Poi conosciuta Roxy, mia moglie, ho ripreso a fare qualche scatto.
Ma è stato il digitale a farmi ripartire…e ora non esco se non ho una macchina fotografica con me.
Mi domandi come ho imparato a fare foto…in non sò fare foto, non ho mai frequentato corsi, quando scatto spesso lo faccio di getto, una cosa che desta il mio interesse cerco di bloccarla e per paura che il tutto svanisca scatto senza tener conto delle varie regole compositive.
E qui devo ringraziare ancora una volta la tecnologia perchè essa mi dà la possibilità di fare scatti in successione, vedere immediatamente il risultato per poi scegliere lo scatto migliore. E per migliore intendo quello che rispetta l’immagine che mi ero prefissato di creare o l’attimo che volevo cogliere, quindi appagamento da sensazioni e non fredda perfezione tecnica. Non per niente, una cosa che odio profondamente è quando su Flickr commentano con “io avrei fatto così” oppure “io la taglierei così”, il tutto condito con quella saccenza da primi della classe che ho sempre odiato.

C’è qualche fotografo o artista che ritieni abbia avuto un ruolo di influenza nel tuo modo di fotografare ?
Non saprei quale sia quello che mi ha influenzato più di altri…come per le altre forme d’Arte, acquisisco da tutti.
Mi piacciono i paesaggi di Ansel Adams, per il modo di trattare il bianco e nero, ma sopratutto il modo come ci ha illustrato i parchi americani.
La saturazione cromatica di Franco Fontana e il rapporto che ha con le ombre.
Il rigore, classico, di Mapplethorpe…colgo l’occasione di ricordare la mostra alla Galleria dell’Accademia prorogata fino al 10 gennaio per chi l’avesse persa.
Il modo di riprendere le donne da parte di Helmut Newton…ecco forse Newton, quando mi capita di fotografare delle donne.

Ci sono dei soggetti che ami fotografare in particolare ?
Fotografo di tutto, tutto quello che mi colpisce, che mi lancia un’input.
Amante come sono della regione in cui vivo, mi piace rappresentarla nella maniera più classica con i paesaggi e scorci caratteristici…ma anche no, facendo degli HDR ad esaltarne le sfumature cromatiche.
Fotografo il degrado, la decadenza, l’abbandono e questo a volte mi porta ad un coinvolgimento tale da andare oltre all’inquadrare e scattare…spesso in certi luoghi, per la scena, il contesto, sono portato ad immedesimarmi ed elucubrare che poi cerco di trascrivere nel commento alla foto.
Mi piacerebbe fare qualche ritratto in più, ma il mio essere non particolarmente entrante come carattere, mi costringere a partecipare a manifestazioni per poterli fare.

Hai attualmente qualche progetto fotografico in corso ?
Avrei diverse idee, ma perora rimangono tali…come tutti immagino, piacerebbe poter mostrare le foto in qualche spazio…ma già farlo su Flickr mi dà soddisfazione.

Le ultime due domande sono ormai un classico che faccio a tutti gli ospiti di questo blog : Cosa significa per te la tua fotografia ?
Esternazione di sensazioni, raccontare, ricordare.
Introspezione, trovarmi in luoghi che, attraverso la macchina fotografica mi aprono modi diversi di vedere la stessa scena e di interpretarla.
La fotografia intesa come mezzo di socializzazione,e questa intervista ne è un’esempio, mi ha permesso di conoscere gente, bella gente. Di farmi conoscere, nel bene e nel male.

Ed infine : se tu avessi l’opportunità di incontrare un grande fotografo e ti fosse concesso di fargli una sola domanda, cosa gli chiederesti ?
Molto probabilmente farei come quando sono vicino ad un pittore, un’artigiano, o qualche altro artista…gli chiederei se posso rimanere a guardarlo mentre lavora.
Nel caso di un fotografo, guarderei come sistema la scena, come intergisce con essa e i suoi assistenti, perchè i grandi fotografi hanno sempre uno stuolo di assistenti.
Mi limiterei a guardarlo perchè non saprei cosa chiedere, ho come l’impressione di violare uno spazio facendogli delle domande dirette.
Non trovo molto corretto chiedere ad un’artista affermato come del resto ad un fotoamatore perchè o per come ha ripreso una scena…ognuno di noi ha un bagaglio di conoscenze, di motivazioni, di interessi che non permettono di essere capiti appieno quindi per non cadere in errori interpretativi, per non fare una violenza al suo modo di vedere, preferisco osservare e imparare e poi trarre le mie conclusioni.

Saudações leitor e leitora do BlogalizeJá. É muito bom tê-los aqui!

Como já sabe estou sempre buscando um bom assunto para ser destacado aqui no blog. Em uma dessas buscas, encontrei um vídeo no Youtube falando sobre como as rádios estão entrando na blogosfera. O vídeo fala sobre como a explosão dos blogs exerceram uma forte influência em mídias tradicionais como televião e rádios. I’ve spent the last few days altering and re-altering some of my illustrations so they are presentable for Flickr and I finally got most of them up. There aren’t many but I intend to keep adding to it. Hope you like! Below is one of my illustrations, the pose is taken from an Elle editorial.

Fotos sagen mehr als tausend Worte. Mit etwas Glück und Geduld lassen sich darauf magische Momente festhalten – ja, sogar für die Ewigkeit konservieren. Das macht die Faszination aus!

Auf Berlin-Reisen übt der Fernsehturm im Herzen der Stadt eine magische Anziehungskraft auf mich aus. Zwischen den mehrstöckigen Gebäuden ragt er wie ein Leuchtturm gen Himmel empor. Aus verschiedenen Himmelsrichtungen betrachtet und in die verschiedenen Umgebungen eingebettet, stellt er ein abwechslungsreiches und immer spannendes Fotomotiv dar.

When you are new to social media what it is and what you can do with it can be daunting. So, here is a Q & A to help you understand it all. 

1.  What is Social Media?

Well, social media (SM) a bunch of of  tools (programs) that  you can use to talk to others while on your computer or your mobile.   Just like a hammer is only good when you actually pick it up and use it.  It can be used by someone to build a house but that same tool can be used by someone else to put up a picture of  their kid made in playschool.  SM  is the tool for having conversations.  These converstations can be between groups of people with similar interests such as between a business and people with an interest in its product ( to praise or complain), for two people to have an online conversation or simply a lone blogger posting to ether that is the internet.

2.  How is it different from traditional Media?

Back in the good ol’ days traditional media went something like this.  Companies decided they wanted to make more money.  So, hired a fancy dancy PR firm that would  come up with a campaign, get a bunch of graphic artists to design logos and pics, writers to come up with some copy and maybe a musician to write a jingle. All of this what tightly controlled to ‘THE MESSAGE’.  Then they would go out and do a media blitz and pay big bucks for commercials on tv or radio and place ads in the newspaper.

Today, a small business can do it themselves with software on their computer or available for free online.

3.  What programs should I use?

What do you want to do.  Here is a table to show you the biggies and what they do.  It’s up to you to get creative and figure out how they can help you.

4.  Can it make me money?

Yes, but probably not in the way you may be thinking.  If you create a twitter account and all you say is come here and buy my stuff.  Then  you will rank right up there with Telephone Solicitors who call right at dinner time. 

5.  How much time do I have to invest?

Well, it’s probably going to be similar to when you learned how to use the computer.  When you started there was an inital investment of time to familiarize yourself. Then as time went by you read something that seemed interesting and tried it out and got better with it as you went along.  This should be similar.  The more you want to learn about the longer your learning curve will be.  But if you just want to twitter to all your pals you should be up and running in under half an hour and then it is just the amount of time you want to spend online reading other people’s post and for you to post. So, it is really up to you.

21st November 2009 – Carling Premiere League – Glenavon v Crusaders

As a little treat to myself and blog anniversary gift (this site turned one year old a few days ago.  I’ll have a birthday post in a bit) I upgraded my flickr.com account.  With the free version of Flickr you get 200 hundred uploads to host images/videos on their site.  Even though I use that them to host the images I post on my blog reaching my free limit was something I never thought would happen.  But to my surprise I had peeked my quota in no time.

Broke down, bit the bullet and shelled out the $24.99 yearly fee for unlimited uploadeds.  Not that what breaks down to a two dollar a month charge is going to send my bank account into a death spiral but it was something I was avoiding.  Whenever I start out with something that I can do for free I find myself kicking and screaming against paying for it.  

After I made peace with having to pry my seldom used credit card out my tightly closed wallet I really got into my improved Flick PRO account.  The PRO gives me the ability to track stats on views my images get not to mention how much more fancier my account looks with “PRO” displayed for all to see.  The “PRO” signals “this guy means business”, “Look out word he’s a professional” and “this guy had a extra 25 bucks to spend on something other than internet porn site”

Here are a few photographers I’ve run across on Flickr whose work I admire:

PINO BEATO. As you might guess, he’s Italian (from Naples). He has an adoring eye for women. His skill turns virtually every shot into a compelling photograph. Here’s a great set, and another.

EDWINDEJONGH. This marvelous site presents some of his excellent work. His images are razor sharp, well composed and his skill with color is superb. Oh, if you like kittens you’ll love his cat photos.

PHLIPP D. His profile provides no information (except he joined Flickr in February) His photos are well composed, particularly his nature and landscape photographs.

PUBLIK_OBERBERG.  Here’s his website (in German). His work is seriously good. What he does with an ordinary stand of trees is remarkable. His haunting, austere photos taken in fog are a joy to view.

PETER BOWERS. I’ve written about his incredible work at least once before. In my opinion he is one of the very best photographers on Flickr. He’s Canadian (Toronto), and specializes in nature and landscape photography. In his hands a wide angle lens becomes a thing of magic. His set “the canoe” will take your breath away. He weaves minimalist magic with reeds and still water. The landscapes in his set  “snow and ice” are original, starkly beautiful and so well composed they seem artless.
