WOW. There isn’t more to say than…wow. The International League Pass is way too much to handle for a basketball junkie like myself.

It is pretty much the same as the “normal” League Pass Broadband – the main difference is that we (international customers) are only able to watch the game up to two days after the live stream. Especially considering that most of us buy the ILP because we don’t want to stay up all night to watch live streams. Still, two days is enough, so it’s not really a big problem.

The video quality is pretty good (most of the time) and I can only recommend to buy the HD version – you will notice a difference, believe me. Being able to use the DVR-function and jump back and forth while watching a game is really neat too. Especially if you watch an archived game and don’t feel like watching all the commercial breaks.

It isn’t flawless, tho. There are two things that they need to change as soon as possible:

• The video quality isn’t the same for all the streams. Some games look awesome, perfect frame rate and everything while some…well…some remind me of flip books to be honest with you.

 I guess it’s nothing the ILP guys themselve can change, because they get the files from the channels that show the games on TV. Most games that aren’t on national TV look way better than those from TNT and ESPN which is bad for us if we consider that they show the best games – I couldn’t watch the season opener at all and I was really looking forward to that game – Celtics vs Cavaliers. The resolution was messed up and the frame rate was really low, it was like watching strangly shaped pictures of a game…not so much fun. The Mavericks game was in awesome quality, tho. The national TV stations should step up their game a bit.

• The most annoying thing about the ILP archive is that they write the results of the game right underneath the link so you have a really tough time trying to cover a part of the screen with your hand while searching for the link without ruining the game for yourself by finding out who won…what is the purpose of an archive? Telling me who won? A link is enough. If I want to know who won, I’ll check out the NBA homepage. The early games start at 2 A.M. in Europe so many NBA fans over here prefer to watch the replay…we don’t want to know who won before we watch the game!

I put more emphasis on the bad parts in my review, but the ILP is a wonderful product and really worth paying the price. It’s not that expensive and you get pretty much all the games (we don’t have too many local black outs). Every game, every team, no matter who you root for you can watch your favorite team…like they say in their commercials…it’s amazing.

They changed one of the two most annoying things today – now you can click on a button to see the score if you want to, but they don’t shove it down your throat anymore. Very nice!

Une idée créative qui exploite à merveille l’univers de flip book.

Ce court métrage d’animation est une bande dessinée animée multi-directionnelle.

Le scénario est vraiment amusant. J’adore le style créatif de Donato Sansone, qui pourrait faire partie des auteurs de génie des Editions Paquet.

Le seul ‘hic’, j’aimerai pouvoir m’arrêter plus précisément sur quelques scènes, car tout va extrêmement vite. Mais en même temps, cette vitesse est tellement juste, car il ne faut pas oublié qu’il s’agit d’un effet flip book.

Cela me donne de nombreuses idées créatives…

Alors que l’on aime ou que l’on n’aime pas musicalement, il faut regarder le clip Santa Maria de Gotan Project pour la performance visuelle. Avec cette mauvaise habitude du numérique et de sa perfection souvent chiante, en regardant ce clip on pourrait croire que tout les effets sont fait en post production mais en fait pas du tout. J’en parle tout le temps mais la société d’appareils photo Lomography a accepté le challenge de faire une vidéo animée à partir de photos fixes. Les effets de carrés sont des planches contacts ou les points repères pour monter ce petit chef d’œuvre, et là d’accord c’est de la post prod mais de la post prod à partir de quelque chose de réel et pas uniquement du virtuel assisté par ordinateur. C’est l’équipe de Lomography UK qui est venu à Paris faire les shoot avec différents appareils pour faire filmer ce couple dansant le tango majestueusement. Une sorte de clip en effet flip book avec un montage simple mais efficace.  Une vidéo vraiment impressionnante.

Last week, I went to Target to pick up a couple supplies to make Mother’s Day and Father’s Day brag books.  For Mother’s Day, I made small memory books out of the 8×8 albums they had in the dollar bin.  Unfortunately, the only color album they had was pink and pink just won’t do for Father’s Day gifts!  So, as I was browsing the dollar bins, the idea of using notecards for mini albums popped into my head.  I bought two packs of notecards, each had 8 in a pack.  This is how I put together a small Father’s Day brag book.  This little book is perfect for the tons of wallet size prints you have leftover from all of those school and Christmas packages you purchase throughout the year.

1. I took 6 of the cards and put them together.  If you use a set of notecards that has different patterns on them, put them in the order you want the design to appear.  The cards I chose are all the same pattern.

2. I lined the blank notecards with leftover scrapbook paper.

3. I punched holes in the same place on each end of the notecards.

4. I cut the ribbon that came with the notecards in half and laced it through the holes on each end and tied a knot.

5. I took one of the seals that came with the notecards (for you) and put it on the center and then used other stickers I had to spell out “Me N’ Pop” (Pop is Vivian’s grandfather).

6. I cut out pictures of Vivian and Pop, along with misc. other pictures, and glued them on the inside of the book.  I also let Vivian write a note to Pop and draw flowers.  After all, it is her present to Pop.

7. I also bought a pack of 6 gift card holders from the dollar bin.  I used two in the Mother’s Day albums (that I neglected to take pictures of…sorry ) and I am using the two with ties in the Father’s Day albums.    It says “Pop’s Special Things” and Vivian fills it with things that she thinks Pop will like.  Another idea is to put any extra wallet size prints you have in it.

8. On the back, I made a little tag and stamped it with a stamp I had made for Vivian when she was about two years old.  It says: Made especially for you by: Vivian Warren.  I made the tag, then I put it through my xyron sticker maker and stuck it on the back.  Or you can just glue it to the back.

The thing I like most about it is that it stands up.  Easy to display!

وهي تقوم على مبدأ خداع البصر ، حيث أن الانطباع الضوئي الذي تتلقاه العين يدوم فترة من الزمن بعد زوال المنبه الضوئي ،وهذه الفترة تقدر بواحد على عشرين جزء من الثانية ، وتختلف هذه المدة بحسب درجة الإضاءة

طبعاً هي المعلومات من درس العلوم .. أكيد جميعكم بتعرفوها

يعني المبدأ العملي هو أنه إذا قمنا بعرض الصور الثابتة بتواتر زمني كبير ، فسيصل الإحساس للعين بأن هذه الصور تتحرك

نبذة مختصرة عن تاريخ الرسوم المتحركة :

يرجع ظهور الرسوم المتحركة إلى بدايات 1900 ، حين قام مخرج فرنسي اسمه (إيميل كول) بإنتاج أول فلم رسوم متحركة صامت باسم ( fantasmagorie) وكان ذلك في 1908 ، والفلم كان قصيراً جداً ،وصامتاً ،وبالأسود والرمادي ( أقصد و الأبيض) ،كان سيئاً جداً ، ولكنه كان البداية الفعلية لصناعة الرسوم المتحركة ، ومن لديه فضول ليشاهد كيف كان يبدو أول فلم رسوم متحركة فيمكنه مشاهدة هذا الفلم هنا

أما أول شخصية كرتونية ، فهيGertie the Dinosaur (الديناصور جيرتي )

هذا الفن ينطبق عليه القول : “سهل ممتنع “، فبالرغم من كل السهولة والمتعة في مشاهدته ، فإن عمله وإنشاءه أمر شاق جداً جداً

وحتى تضح الفكرة لكم ، لو افترضنا أننا سنقوم بإنشاء مقطع فلم صغير مدته 5 دقائق مثلاً ، في اعتقادكم كم رسمة انتقالية سنحتاج ؟ لنقوم بالحسبة التالية :

5 دقائق * 60 ثانية * 15 فريم في الثانية  = 4500 رسمة !

رقم خيالي ..مع العلم أن 15 فريم في الثانية رقم قليل نسبياً

Il gruppo olandese, Kraak & Smaak, ha utilizzato la tecnica d’ animazione flip book per il video di “Squeeze Me”. Eccellente.

A couple of years ago (*yikes*!), I posted a piece about the return of the flip book.  Over time, this resurgence of this tactile technology hasn’t succumb to the “fad o’ the day” that so many nostalgic formats often take toward oblivion.

Instead, it seems the flip book is here to stay.  To illustrate this, I ran across a great video by Kraak & Smaak called “Squeeze Me” – and thought you’d enjoy this lighthearted but innovative application of this old technology.

When I was in 1st year, I was terrified of one Studio, it was Studio B. Before I write about why I was scared of Studio B I should tell this first, I never had an art background. Even in high-school, I didn’t choose art as my subject. So ever since primary school, I had no experience with any activities related to Art.

Studio B is “an introduction into the process of image-based communication – image as language. This study area aims to further develop an awareness of visual literacy of both illustration and drawing cultures.”

I was extremely ashamed of my drawing skills that after the first five classes, I never went to another one. In my eyes everyone was Pablo Picasso and I was some guy who couldn’t even draw straight lines. If I think back now I ask myself why did I do such a stupid thing. If I could go back in time I would acknowledge the fact that I might lack some skills than other students, but I also have skills that other students don’t have. I also won’t be ashamed of my drawing skills because I’m a student and I came to RMIT to learn. 

Time went by and the end of Semester 1 came along. Although I missed more than half of the class, I went to see Alex who was my tutor at the time. I told him the truth about why I didn’t show up in classes and also because my mom was sick (My mom was diagnosed with cancer that year). 

After the meeting with Alex, I was able to get an extension for my portfolio. I had to do all the assignment in a rush and I wasn’t able to learn anything from it. Except for the fact that I should never skip a class just because I’m not good at it. During the making of my portfolio, one particular project really interested me. The project was making a flip-book. I chose man’s ageing process as the theme. I actually had quite fun doing the project. I had never made a flip-book in my life and the story-telling through transition of cards was an interesting experience for me. 

Personally there were many factors that didn’t work. I think the part that went most well is the drawing and the transition of age. It was impossible for me to draw a same ageing man, so I found bunch of faces and with tracing paper, I traced out different parts of faces from different faces. After that I juxtaposed those facial parts into one, creating a new face. It was quite an effort but it turned out nicely. The transition was also relatively smooth. The part that didn’t go well were the materials. After I traced out the new face, I photocopied the tracing paper and just stuck those paper on a memo note. The overall appearance of the final flip-book seemed way to amateurish. 

If I was to redo the project I would also make some change in the design process. I would plan out my concept thoroughly. I would like to add an element which you can not see through eyes such as love or purity. I think the project would have been more interesting if it showed a man’s ageing process as well as him losing his purity as he gets older. I would also present the final product in a professional manner. I would scan the images I traced and edit it with a computer, print it on a thick paper so it won’t have to be glued at all.
