“He llegit la notícia que hi ha a la web de l’ajuntament que fa referència a l’entrevista del senyor alcalde i del tinent alcalde amb el secretari d’Indústria i Empresa de la Generalitat de Catalunya i ara si que m’he desil•lusionat.
Plataforma, vosaltres que teniu força que moveu multituds perquè no organitzeu una excursió a Barcelona, però ven organitzada anem tots,  el poble i voltants. Unim les forcés ajuntament i plataforma, i tots els sectors econòmics que promoguin promoció econòmica: comitès d’empresa; d’ Ercros i de la nuclear, ajuntaments d’Ascó i Riba roja d’Ebre i resta de pobles del voltant.  Anem a Barcelona a defensa el territori i que d’una vegada per totes es faci un bon repartiment dels recursos. No pot ser que per l’any vinent s’aprovin des de l’administració Autonómica i Estatal unes línies d’ajuts  per a la re industrialització de les terres de l’Ebre i a nosaltres no ens arribi res. Crec i penso  que és el moment de treure al carrer les nostres pancartes i samarretes verdes del meandre. No tindrem cap oportunitat més hem de defensar el territori com sigui. Penso que és una bona oportunitat per unir-nos. Fem soroll, hi ha molta gent aturada i entre tots ho podem organitzar.”

Maybe I was a bit too far in to this for some odd reason but i absolutely loved this movie. I went in knowing it was a “feel good” movie and MAN did it deliver. The cast was great, the story was fantastic and greatly inspiring. It was also just in time for thanksgiving and all the things we should be thankful for. For that I would say that this movie deserves an A!

ESCRIT DE MONTSE FORCADES.

Després d’escoltar per Ràdio Flix l’entrevista realitzada als Srs. Oscar Bosch i Pere Muñoz el passat divendres dia 13 de novembre, vull agrair la seva inusual sinceritat i la valenta iniciativa d’oferir a Flix un futur agrícola i turístic, alhora que em sento decebuda de saber que els nostres polítics menys preuen el sector industrial i energètic que manté viu el nostre poble.

En quan al SECTOR AGRARI, vull explicar la situació en la que es troba actualment Flix:

En primer lloc, tots dos polítics ens haurien de donar exemple en primera persona, per saber del que estan parlant.

Estem cansats de veure manifestacions de pagesos catalans demanant millores en els preus dels seus productes per sobreviure, i no obtenen resposta per part de l’administració.

S’executen nous regadius en el nostre terme municipal, però quin cost tindrà aquest aigua per al pagès, el preu d’aquesta aigua serà rentable? Com a propietària d’una finca que disposa del reg de suport, os puc assegurar que el preu és elevat, i la collita no és sempre la desitjada.

El Sindicat de Flix, instrument essencial per garantir un preu just de l’oli, té greus problemes per mantenir les noves instal·lacions, imprescindibles per donar millor servei als pagesos i poder ser competitius, però tot hi aconseguint aquest objectiu no deixa de ser un ingrés complementari de la renda familiar.

En quan al SECTOR TURÍSTIC i tenint en compte els nostres recursos:

Tot i poder oferir al turista un bon servei, un atractiu natural únic, uns fets a explicar,… l’èxit d’aquest sector no depèn de nosaltres ni del nostre entorn, hem de tenir en compte la important competència d’altres zones turístiques properes o no al nostre municipi, la desfavorable ubicació geogràfica on ens trobem, la climatologia,…

En l’actual situació que estem patint, és poc ètic i moral, apostar per un futur sense massa fonaments i d’una gran incertesa, que pot generar pocs llocs de treball, on la mà d’obra necessària per desenvolupar aquest servei, no té res a veure amb el potencial de mà d’obra existent en el nostre poble.

A més, l’Ajuntament pretén participar en la societat que vol implantar un complex turístic en el meandre, tot i tenir més dubtoses prespectives de futur que la pagesia,…

Segons ells, en aquest llarg camí per a aconseguir l’objectiu final, ser un poble turístic i pagès, alguns no hi tindran cabuda, alguns es perdran pel camí.

QUANTS SERAN ELS QUE ÉS PERDRAN??  100, 500 Ó MÉS FAMÍLIES??.

En quan al SECTOR INDUSTRIAL i ENERGÈTIC:

Denuncio la manca de recolzament incondicional a la indústria centenària existent en el nostre municipi, la Fàbrica de Flix, la manca de preocupació per cercar una solució al greu problema dels banys de mercuri, la manca de compromís per part de l’administració municipal i autonòmica per a NO permetre el seu tancament, on generacions senceres de famílies han escrit i escriuen la història de la Fàbrica amb sacrificis, suors i alguns cops llàgrimes, però benvinguda sigui.

Demano que des de l’Ajuntament es promogui la nostra cultura industrial i s’ofereixi ajudes i recolzament per a qualsevol tipus d’iniciativa empresarial o industrial que s’implanti en el nostre poble.

Si volem continuar essent un poble de 4000 habitants, la nostra identitat ha de continuar essent principalment industrial i energètica, hem de vendre aquesta característica que ens diferencia de la resta de municipis de la comarca, no l’hem de menys preuar, les persones que s’han quedat sense feina són una mà d’obra ben qualificada i amb moltes ganes de treballar.

Necessitem l’execució material immediata d’un polígon industrial en terrenys municipals, disposem d’aigua, energia elèctrica, línia de ferrocarril, solament ens manca el gas, demanem la seva arribada per a oferir parcel·les amb tots aquests serveis en ple funcionament.

No necessitem la construcció d’un polígon industrial en la partida Les Camposines, situat en el mig del no res, on s’han de fer arribar tots els serveis dels quals nosaltres disposem, amb un sobre cost que pot resultar un llast pesat d’arrossegar per al nostre territori.

El Centre d’empreses pot ser una eina eficaç per ajudar a les petites i mitjanes empreses del nostre poble, però no és suficient.

Després de saber el resultat de l’estudi realitzat per l’Institut de Salut Carlos III sobre la relació entre el càncer i les nuclears, en el qual s’afirma que NO TENEN EFECTES SOBRE LA SALUT PÚBLICA (en canvi el fumar està demostrat que perjudica seriosament la salut), vull parlar del ATC (“almacen temporal centralizado de residuos nucleares”), una aposta de futur per a la comarca, els nostres polítics no estan a favor d’aquesta instal·lació, no en volen sentir parlar, per això la gent del poble no en sabem res de res, penso que és una IRRESPONSABILITAT per part d’ells no tenir assabentats a tots els vilatans de les grans prestacions, el respecte al medi ambient i la feina a llarg termini que pot generar aquesta instal·lació, a més tenint en compte que el poble veí d’Ascó és un candidat potencial per a rebre l’ATC.

El poble de Flix, per sort, no es troba en un estat irreversible, però necessita una rehabilitació estructural objectiva a tots els nivells, en aquests moments hem d’afrontar greus problemes, la manca de solidesa industrial-empresarial i l’inestabilitat laboral, per a solucionar aquests fets i alhora generar noves prestacions, en primer lloc hem de prendre mesures per tal de garantir l’estabilitat de l’estructura principal que sustenta el nostre poble, hem d’evitar el seu deteriorament, a continuació garantirem la solidesa de l’estructura secundària, la conservació i manteniment del seu context, no podem deixar res a la improvisació, després es feina de tots, començant per les persones que ara ens representen davant les institucions, el consolidar i vetllar per aquests objectius.

Els polítics del nostre Ajuntament, pretenen capgirar el nostre present i el nostre futur sense comptar amb nosaltres, sense comptar amb el poble de Flix.

Vull reivindicar dues obligacions de tots els polítics com són: la d’informar amb transparència i claredat, i defensar els interessos de TOTS els ciutadans, les portes que tenim obertes han de seguir obertes: pagesia, turisme, centre d’empreses, fàbrica de Flix, ATC, polígon industrial, centrals nuclears,….

EL POBLE DE FLIX HA DE TENIR L’OPORTUNITAT DE DECIDIR CAP ON A D’ENCARAR EL SEU FUTUR, I LA INFORMACIÓ OBJECTIVA ÉS EL PILAR FONAMENTAL.

TOUGH title. Solid flick. Mama’s got to figure out her life. She’s 30 like me and facing the same issues. Does she want to  marry? Can she even if she does want? Can she start her own business? Is that what she wants? All the while she struggles to stay afloat. Like me, she also lost her first love. Mine left, hers died.

What really gets me about this flick is her admission that she hates those stairs. She dreads them every night but by the time she reaches the top, she’s prepared to make it through. She has to. She also has to decide who to trust and what to believe, how to live independently. She has to learn what’s in her own best interest and learn to act accordingly. How can I be facing the same fate in 2009 NYC as the fictional Keiko (Mama) of 1960 Japan? Naruse must be a master. I’m convinced. I love the rare, great heroine, and I love it when a great title isn’t wasted but in fact augurs a great film.

TOUGH ending. See it.

Com ja sabeu aquesta empresa tanca les seves portes. No hem ficat la notícia abans per que sabem que estan de negociacions i voliem anar amb peus de plom, però veient que el sr. Pere Muñoz  i altres ja han publicat la noticia al seu blog, no hem espera’t més.

Qué sapiguin els treballadors de Recuprod que tenen el nostre recolzament i que si ens necessiten, estem per ajudarlos.

Aprofitem per a dirvos que desde setembre estem pendents d’una reunió amb l’alcalde, però  per agenda, encara no ens hem reunit.

I kinda believe that even if they didn’t know it, they still copied. These kinds of similarities are always related, consciously or not.

Wow. Seriously a waste of time and money. The only reason I’m even writing about it is because of the last scene. I got scared, and the only reason I did is personal so I think it wouldn’t have even had the same impact on others. Horrible sound, acting, and story. Who’s green lighting these days?

La tònica d’expedients de regulació d’ocupació (ERO) que han arribat amb la crisi no és aliena a les Terres de l’Ebre.

Males notícies com l’ERO d’Antaix, el tancament d’envidraments Guardiola, l’ERO de Medesa, el d’Ercros a Flix, etcètera, i les empreses que van reduint personal a mesura que acaben els contractes i es redueix la feina, tenen el seu màxim exponent en el tancament de Lear a Roquetes. Més de 500 persones al carrer, en un territori com el nostre, és molta gent. Més, m’atreviria a dir, en proporció, que la gent inclosa ens els ERO de Seat o Nissan.

Crec que tots entenem que quan les empreses van malament i el negoci no es pensa reorientar, el tancament és potser l’única solució. Però, si quan empreses com Seat o Nissan diuen que acomiaden determinada quantitat de persones, la Generalitat perd el cul perquè no ho facin –ho acaben fent, i reincidint, com en el cas de Seat–, a l’Ebre ens mereixem que l’esforç sigui, com a mínim, igual. I això no vol dir que s’hagi de subvencionar empreses per evitar una mort inevitable sinó que, si es fa amb unes, s’ha de fer amb totes.

This was just my kind of movie. Strategic and gory murders kept me interested the entire time. Sure, the legal jargon could have been a load of shit but whatever, there was blood and a man out to teach people a lesson and he did it damn well.

random side note: it seems that Gerard Butler got his teeth fixed or whitened to the point where it was distracting, I’m just saying…oh and he also moves his mouth in funny ways when he’s talking

Ok, so I am finally getting around to watching all the movies that I had suggested to me. I heard many great things about this from people I typically trust as movie critics and after having someone else rent it for me I finally gave it a shot.

The verdict: C

Yes, yes I said I liked it and I did, I mean a C in book is pretty good. Anyway, so here’s what bugged me: Kirsten Dunst, she just does not float my boat, besides her not so great acting maybe it’s her f-ed up teeth or the way her eyes look strangely crossed every now and then that bug me,  either way the girl just does not deserve to be in movies. The memory deleting…yeah I know without this the movie would be another “A lot like love” where two people just find each other over and over again but it just seemed ridiculous and my logical side kept saying this is just so unreal (in a movie, who knew?). Anyway I think it just for some reason reminded me how Alice Sebold messed up the Lovely Bones (which I am also looking forward to) when she had the characters switch bodies or whatever. I also disliked that Clementine had to tell Joel to meet her in Montock (prolly spelled wrong), it should have just happened.  Enough with the bashing and onto what I liked: the themes I thought were underlying the entire flick, correct me if I’m wrong, but this was about fate, destiny, and the power of true love. Being an in the closet romantic, it did not matter that there were so many “flaws,” the movie was about LOVE dammit and i believe in anything that sheds a light on how beautiful it can be.

Evento: “II Jornadas sobre estrategias de conservación y restauración del
bosque de ribera”

Datas: 1, 2 y 3 de Octubre de 2009

Lugar: Mas del Director, sede de la Reserva Natural de Sebes y Meandro de
Flix (Tarragona)

“Grup de Natura Freixe”(GNF) es el nombre de nuestra ONG local que desde
1985 está implicada en la gestión y protección de los valores naturales de
la comarca a lo largo del río Ebro. Trabajamos en Flix, a la orilla del río
Ebro, situado en la provincia de Tarragona. El margen del río, aguas arriba
del embalse de Flix y el propio Meandro, fueron declarados Reserva Natural
de Fauna Salvaje en 1995. Desde entonces, el GNF se ha encargado de la
gestión de este espacio natural.

Algunos de los proyectos llevados a cabo los últimos años han sido: Proyecto
de reintroducción de la cigüeña blanca en el tramo final del Ebro, Gestión
de pasturas con caballos de la Camarga, Programas de seguimiento de la
población de avifauna, Descubrimiento y evaluación de la invasión de
mejillón cebra en el río Ebro, Evaluación del estado de conservación del
bosque de ribera de Sebes, etc.

Los días 1, 2 y 3 de Octubre celebramos 10 años de la celebración de las “I
Jornadas sobre estrategias de conservación y restauración del bosque de
ribera”. Diferentes estudios de evaluación del estado ecológico del
bosquede ribera de Sebes, han revelado la existencia de impactos
negativos debido
a los cambios en la gestión hidrológica del embalse de Flix, caracterizada
por el mantenimiento de unos niveles mayores, con un incremento de la
incidencia de condiciones de anoxia en las raíces de los árboles, provocando
su mortalidad.

Estamos organizando las “II Jornadas sobre estrategias de conservación y
restauración del bosque de ribera”. El programa incluye diferentes ponencias
de investigaciones y trabajos realizados sobre restauración, conservación y
gestión del bosque de ribera.

One of the pages with most traffic on this blog is the Bookshelf in Berlin. Thanks to this page, online (and offline) friendships started, in Rome and Berlin.

So it’s time to put a bit in order that page and update it with the latest arrivals on our bookshelf. Let’s try to summarize…

I bought at Chatwin’s “U5″ by Pol Sax. If you are recovering your German language skills, it can be helpful as there is more introspection than plot intricacies. Three characters (an artist which has some success, a prostitute, a former artist now in need of psychiatric professional help) show us their thoughts while they live their lives in Friedrichshain, along the U5 line precisely.

At Tegel airport I bought Sven Regener’s “Berlin blues”. It is enjoyable, to some extent I started to confuse the characters (I was still reading Pol Sax) since also in this book the quirky and borderline are very close. But it is definitely enjoyable, especially the bits in which tapes full of House music constantly risk to end up in the bin of the pub. “He says this will be the music of tomorrow!”. It was the summer 1989. The English translation I read seems really good to me, but I should read the German original version to be sure about it…and get an insight on the 80s slang.

Get this bande dessinée, if you want to get some insight on how kids in 1989 lived the fall of the Berlin wall. It is witzig, light, ironic, and yes, you may have spotted Flix strips in a Berlin’s newspaper. I found it at the fantastic Bayerischer Platz Buchladen, my local.

At Nollendorfplatz I bought Alexanderplatz. I am already a fan of Harald Hauswald’s photos of East Berlin so this book was a safe bet. It is a photographic book, very useful for playing one of my favourite Berlin games “how was it before/how is it now?”.

At the KaDeWe bookstore – which happens to be pas mal du tout – I couldn’t resist in buying Berliner Plätze, after spending an hour or so on the bookstore’s red sofas while browsing the book.

Taking the game “Berlin yesterday/today” a century back, with this gorgeous book you can understand what kind of metropolis Berlin was in the 20s…The square pictured on the cover is Viktoria-Luise Platz, which happens to be like this also today. The grim, concrete-clad Bayerischer Platz in our neighborhood was a true beauty once. Fabulous book for architecture lovers.

This one is only for Berlin fanatics…taking the game even deeper, and digging out the history of the Schoeneberg neighborhood. I agree, it’s so specialized, but how can you resist if you find it at the Flohmarkt for Eur 2?

Wow, a book in Italian, German, French. You may recognize the cover…but it is not Imgard Keun’s “The artificial silk girl”. It’s a catalogue, bought at Remainders in Rome, about Berlin’s fashion industry in the 30s. Berlin fashion shared the same grim fate of Bayerischer Platz buildings and the Bauhaus school – annihilation -  since it had a strong contribution by the Jewish Berlin entrepreneurs. The book is fabulous for the quality of fashion photography and the architectural aesthetic: the city, the modern city, was the set.

This is an investment. The Bauhaus exhibition catalogue…solemnly acquired at the Martin-Gropius Bau . Of course I saw the exhibition…but I want the pleasure to last, and that’s why I started reading the catalogue but I will keep the most part of it for the rainy-windy-stormy-icy days in Berlin this winter. 80 years! But there had been an impressive exhibition in 1977….

…I discovered it because I found at the Rathaus Schoeneberg Flohmarkt this fabulous book, the catalogue of the exhibition. It was interesting to compare how catalogues have evolved in the past 30 years, and on very similar themes. Today’s bauhaus catalogue is more graphic and inviting, the 1977 oeuvre is definitely very academic. But extremely complete and thorough.

My friend in Moabit, who enjoyed Alessandra Montrucchio’s “Berlino”, advised me to get its French mirror image, Cecile Calla’s “Tour de Franz”. It is definitely enjoyable and is a good insight on conversational German, with a Berlinisch flavour. Sometimes there’s too much Paris in this book (the cooking, the lingerie, the aperos) and you may wonder if the book’s title “mein Rendez-vous mit den Deutschen” should rather be “my convinction that French do it better, whatever it is”. But the chapters “spiessig”, “Sex”, Tatort” and “Mann” are good fun. By the way, I bought this book at a nice local bookstore, just off Crellestrasse in Schoeneberg. Check it out, it’s called Mackensen.

Another French fascinated by Germany, Michel Tournier. I bought the book at Palais Sans Souci, in Potsdam…so the title sounded quite appropriate, in the middle of the Prussian vineyards and Mediterrenean fig trees. Almost a pamphlet, it is a bijou and not to be missed. En français uniquement.

Another book, another advice from a friend, C. from Geneva. Its structure is interesting and it makes an interesting companion during travels for business or pleasure. But when it comes to history, I prefer books such as Maier’s “The Fall” or Weitz’s “Weimar, utopia and tragedy”. The social and economic side of history is the one I am interested in, and in vol d’oiseau books it does not get enough coverage.

In the same bookstore off Crellestrasse I also treated myself to a new Kaminer. But I am still in the middle of it…so I’ll let you know!

And now I’ll close with two masterpieces, quite obvious, but hey, I read them this summer…

The Cold War masterpiece, IanMcEwan’s “The Innocent”. I must confess that when I bought the book at Tegel airport I hd not realized immediately that I already had this book. Fortunately, because my copy of the Italian translation “Lettere a Berlino” was in Rome, with a bookmark stuck at 1/3 of the book. Here it goes, another “double book” I told myself…but eventually I started reading the original version and got totally captured. The beauty of the language, the differences in Glass’s American English and Marham’s stuttered English from Tottenham is quintessential to the pleasure of the intricated plot. And moreover…we have been to Altglienicke! (and everybody flying Easijet has been to Rudow, right?).

The 30s masterpiece is “Goodbye Berlin”. I bought it by night at Dussman, during Die Lange Nacht der Museen, the Berlin version of Notte bianca. I love Christopher Isherwood! His social portraits are as sharp as Imgard Keun’s, but with a British irony which rubs off the hyperrealistic decadence of Alfred Döblin’s friend.

It was my goodbye book to Berlin…a somewhat cooler weather had arrived that night and the following day I packed my luggage, taking with me Kaminer for fighting that dash of sadness with Schonhauser Allee nonsensical humor.

Comics, das war für mich immer etwas zwischen Mickey Mouse und Werner und primär nichts, womit ich viel anfangen konnte und schon gar nichts, wofür ich Geld ausgegeben hätte.
Bis ich vor geschätzten 2 Jahren über Flix gestolpert bin. Seitdem bin ich immer wieder auf’s neue fasziniert davon, dass Flix es schafft, mit markanten Bildern und wenigen Worten so viel mehr zu sagen als so mancher Schriftsteller da draussen, der elendslange Romane schreibt.

Jetzt ist endlich mein Da war mal was… da und es ist wunderschön! Erinnerungen an die Zeit als die Mauer noch stand, sowohl von Wessis als auch von Ossis, zusammengetragen und wunderschön in Szene gesetzt von Flix – zum Lachen, Schmunzeln, Luft anhalten und Gänsehaut bekommen.

Unbedingt lesenswert ist auch Flix Faust, der gerade Dienstag bis Freitag in der FAZ erscheint und den Flix parallel dazu auf seiner Seite veröffentlicht. Grandios!
