J. Lee Grady had an insightful post this week titled: “20/20 Hindsight: What I Hope We Learned from the Lakeland Revival”.

When the ‘Lakeland Revival’ first broke out I posted quite a bit about it – I believed it was of God but also recognized that there were bound to be some elements that were not. One of my main goals was to encourage people to not discount all the good things that did happen because of things they did not agree with/understand.

I still believe it was of God (because there was some real positive fruit) – but obviously recognize that there were some major, major issues that were swept under the rug and eventually blew the thing up. I’m saddened and angered by a lot of the issues. I think that I (and pray that we all) will take some sobering lessons from this and have a sharpened wisdom and discernment moving forward.

You can read Grady’s post here.

Thanks to ‘AriseMy Love’ for making me aware of this post from here. Although I have concerns for the possible motives of this report from one of Wagner’s apostles, bearing in mind what many of the apostles plan re. Todd Bentley, here it is anyway. It makes very interesting reading….

“Robert Ricciardelli is a Member of Peter Wagner’s International Coalition of Apostles (see here)

Robert is a Charisma Magazine Author (see here). He is a very close friend of Lee Grady. “Lee is a friend, partner, advisor” (see his website)

ABOUT CHARISMA’S LAKELAND RESEARCH: On July 16th Ricciardelli revealed,

“Truth is there are very few people being healed in Lakeland. I have worked with Charisma Magazine editor LEE GRADY in discovering how many false reports have been released as facts. These are our brothers and sisters involved in this, but this move of God has been a move of men with God still touching some who come to seek Him…

“…The reporting of claims are being reported as fact and I am not talking about claims from Lakeland, these are claims from emails and phone calls. None of these claims happened from Lakeland, but there was an ownership of them, because someone sent them in. In some cases the person never even mentioned Lakeland, but wanted to just share what God has done. CHARISMA REPORTERS and a few others like myself have tried to get these verified and cannot. At one point, I was told that is God’s job and not the ones reporting these invalidated and now some have been found out to be fraudulent claims. We actually had offered to help, because any news of a resurrection in my opinion is world news if it can be validated. But then when the totals continued to mount which led to hype and embellishment, they began to ask us to stop asking questions. Hmmmm?

Friday night, Todd said that God said there were 1000 people that were to give $1000, and they were to receive a 1000 fold blessing. The one hour drama on this giving subject was so deceptively evident that it was embarrasing to watch. On top of that, those that would give that money were able to come to the platform to be recognized…”

If you care to see more, go to Robert’s 2nd Comment June 8, 2008 at 8:18 am here

ABOUT THE RESURRECTIONS: On June 8th Robert Says, “…We have investigated the 20 plus “raised from the dead” claims as we want to report them to the media, and they cannot be verified, but were only called in, or sent in from an email. This is not responsible reporting, and leaves many questions, which also adds to the claims of hype and embellishment.”

this is from Robert’s 1st comment here

Other comments from Robert Ricciardelli – “God is about nameless and faceless people who are operating without any agenda but the Lords. Preaching about the King and His Kingdom, and moving supernaturally after Him, and as they do, signs and wonders follow. The problem in Charismania is that they seek the sign, they seek the thrill, they seek the craft supply quality gold dust, feathers and gems. They may get the chills and frills, but leave with nothing more than goose bumps and really little spiritual change. When they seek the King, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, you begin to see transformation take place at the heart level. This is God’s way and always has been…..”

ON KGNW 820 AM, RICCIARDELLI REVEALS THAT TODD BENTLEY DEFIED RODNEY HOWARD-BROWNE’S ADVICE TO STOP TALKING ABOUT ANGELS (Credit goes to Charisma Blogger, David from Maryland, for pointing me to this link)
Hour-Long Version [end times note, I do not have time to listen to this, if anyone wants to note the most pertinant parts of this, I would be most grateful]
http://youtube.com/watch?v=63L9j-QNVMM 5min clip

Here are a couple other things he reported on that hour-long broadcast:

1) 46:07 minute mark. Craig Kinsley, an associate of Bentley’s who was there from the very beginning of the Lakeland meetings, said that during the first week he didn’t feel like God was moving at all and that Todd approached him and said that they were going to keep this thing going. Craig’s response was, “keep what going?”

2) 47:28 He had an interesting comment about his friend, Pastor Steve Strader, that you have to hear for yourself.

[Thanks to Dan-O for this transcript:

Here’s what was said about Strader in that broadcast by Robert Ricciardelli:

Secondly, Stephen Strader, who’s a friend, and we still maintain our friendship in the midst of all of this - who is the pastor of Ignited Church - he runs the morning meetings over there, “training for evangelism.”

He mentioned to a group of pastors in a meeting I was at one morning that “in revival, we do not police revival.”

And he says, ” even last night, one of our intercessors was dressed inappropriately. And during worship her hips were gyrating.

And if I did not know her heart, I would think she was in orgy.”

That was his exact words.

He said that if that was in a church service he’d have a father and a mother in the Lord guide her gently guide her away from that, instruct her, but in revival, you let these things go, you don’t police revival."]

Other claims by Robert Ricciardelli -

A lot of others connected with C Peter Wagner urged him not to ‘coronate’ Todd Bentley.

At least a dozen ICA members that he knows of that are extremely concerned at Peter’s endorsement and more to follow as the nonsense continues

It is his opinion that it was man orchestrated and demonically influenced from the very beginning

He has heard the Roy Fields has stated a few times that when the worship ends, God’s presence leaves the platform, and then Todd Bentley operates void of His presence. That is why most all of what they have claimed cannot be verified, because it just is not happening.

There is a church here in North Carolina that brought 27 sick down there for a week. Some with cancer, leukemia, diabetes and such. None got healed and most were worst when they came back.

The emperor is not wearing any clothes and the truth must be known.

Many are claiming that Todd is the new thing that God is doing. The fact is he is still operating in the old thing, and operating with less integrity and character than the previous one man shows.

Todd Bentley deliberately defied Rodney Howard Browne and was intentionally rude and in your face about it - see here http://endtimespropheticwords.wordpress.com/2008/07/23/robert-ricciardelli-reveals-todd-bentley-deliberately-defies-rodney-howard-browne/

The answer to the question – can God heal Fibromyalgia? - is YES! The Bible says, he forgives

The answer to the question – can God heal Fibromyalgia? - is YES! The Bible says, he forgives all our sins and heals ALL our diseases! (Psalm 103:3) There isn’t one disease or diagnosis that is beyond his ability or desire to heal today. I hope that is a hopeful truth for somebody who is hurting right now.

I’m led to post on this topic today because people very close to me, whom I love dearly, are getting pummeled by Fibromyalgia. We have seen God physically heal people here at Church at the Gate in numbers into the three digits. However, we have only seen what I’d call temporary relief as we pray for healing from Fibromyalgia so far. Also, I’m hearing Fibromyalgia being regularly called out through the Word of Knowledge in healing and revival meetings throughout America – I do believe the Great Physician is giving great and full victory to many people from this devasting infirmity. I have more many more questions than answers – so pardon my ignorance – is this only an American malady? I’ve seen/heard nothing of it in the healing meetings I’ve attended overseas. I want to hear from those of you who have been freed of Fibromyalgia where ever you are.

If you, or anyone you know has been healed by God from Fibromyalgia, please share your story here in the comment section of this post. The Bible says we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the WORD OF OUR TESTIMONY. If you have been healed of Fibromyalgia, please share your testimony for the benefit of others here. If you have experienced any victory from Fibromyalgia through Christian healing prayer, please share that here. If you know of someone who has been supernaturally healed of Fibromyalgia, encourage them to share their testimony here.

Our local newspaper today did a brief story on “Mysterious Fibromyalgia.” (The link is to the original article in the Jackson Clarion Ledger.) The subheading is “Chronic pain brings on insomnia, depression, loss of brain activity and IS INCURABLE.” The last two words paint a hopeless picture. Here’s the opening paragraph of the artcle…

Imagine hurting all over, every day, with a physical exhaustion that never completely subsides, not even with adequate sleep and rest. Add insomnia, brain fog, and depression. The worst part – there’s no cure. Sufferers of fibromyalgia don’t have to imagine that nightmare. They live it. Daily.

The article gives these facts… according to the National Fibromyalgia Association, 3-6% of the population suffers from it. Women are most affected by it. And, there are physicians that don’t believe the disease even exists.

I’ve spoken recently with some of our doctors and it’s a mixed bag – some think it’s a “catch all” diagnosis for something that no one can really explain. One said she never saw these symtoms twenty years ago and now she sees them every day in her office. Others say “its real” and relief can be found in various treatments – acupuncture, chiropractic care, osteopathy, pain meds, etc. but that there is no cure or any real understanding of root causes. I’ve spoken to some of our counselors and mental health people about it – some say they have found it relates to previous trauma or (sexual) abuse. Some of my friends in healing and deliverance ministry also say this is the case, and this is how a demonic spirit of infirmity first gains access – through some trauma or abuse. I was given a Gulf War Vet newsletter minutes ago that says the United States military now lists Fibromyalgia at the top of the list of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder manifestations.

I am no expert, nor am I a doctor. Those of you reading this who suffer from Fibromyagia know light years more about this than I. If you are struggling with Fibromyalgia, I hope you’ll join the conversation here and dialog with others who comment here about their victory. I do welcome you to comment about your journey into supernatural healing and even mentioning how people have prayed for you in not-very-helpful-ways (as long as you stay positive about it). I think there is something to learn from unsuccessful well-intentioned attempts at divine healing.

I seek no controversial debate or attack here, nor do I want to lay a lack-of-faith guilt-trip on those who honestly and desperately desire a touch from God. I have a pastoral heart and desire to see God touch peoples lives. I’ve seen him do amazing things and I know he loves people. I’m throwing this post out there to solicit comments from people who’ve seen God heal Fibromyalgia. The most valuable thing about this post is not in what I have to say, it will be in what these folks share. In fact, I probably won’t offer much in the comments section because again, I’m not an expert and have little more to say. I would welcome comments from people in healing and deliverance ministries who have insights into how to pray for healing for people suffering from Fibromyalgia and more importantly, what are the spiritual dynamics behind this infirmity. The article I quoted above said there is some thought that this is genetic. But even there, I don’t want this to be a medical discussion. I’m asking for testimonies of how God healed people of Fibromyalgia and graceful dialog about the spiritual realities here. I’m hoping hope comes forth.

Here are just a couple “rules” for this post and commenting. I don’t want to hear anything about turning to Buddhism for relief or anything like TM, yoga, Oprah, or anything other than Jesus and Biblical Christianity. If you suggest anything else is our hope, I’ll delete that comment immediately. Jesus is our only hope. If you are among those who’ve given up hope concluding Fibromyalgia is your “lot in life” I’d rather you not share that here either. If you think it’s God’s Will that you are sick, I’d rather that get discussed elsewhere also. Not here. Really, if we are unsure it’s God’s Will we have relief from Fibromyagia we better sort that out before we even go to a doctor seeking relief. With that thinking, taking meds would go against what God wants for you. I don’t like to debate if healing is God’s will and don’t want to open that can of worms here. I just want to pray for the sick and let God be God. I want to hear testimonies of the grace of God. I do know God uses suffering and that there are redemptive purposes for pain but I also know one of the reasons God allows sickness is to reveal himself as Healer.

My sole purpose and hope in bringing this up is to provide a place where one beggar can share with another beggar where they found bread. I’m not the baker. But I know the answer is in the one who multiplies the loaves.

ABC Nightline’s feature last night on Todd Bentley and the Florida Healing Outpouring was hard

ABC Nightline’s feature last night on Todd Bentley and the Florida Healing Outpouring was hardly favorable. Is anyone surprised? Gnat-straining camel swallowers in the Body of Christ were given much to delight and gloat over. The lost watching world was shown what the devil would want them to see. Todd Bentley was surely disappointed. Obadiah 1:12 came to me early this morning… “Do not gloat over your brother’s day of misfortune.” I’m sure few, if any, among those in the seat of scoffers will be restrained by this verse, or any other, for that matter.

I’ve been to the meetings in Lakeland. It was apparent to me the ABC Nightline folks went there to get the angle they were after and they got it. They missed much as well. They found a precious wheelchair-bound girl on the streets of Lakeland who has had multiple unfortunate encounters with the revival’s street evangelism teams who, no doubt with good intentions, invited (and probably pressured) her to the attend the healing meetings. She shared the pain of people being insensitive to her. I could fully relate as my father-in-law has been wheelchair-bound for nearly 60 years since he contracted polio at age 14. My wife has numerous stories growing up of being in places like the parking lot at Billy Graham Crusades being accosted by people on the way out that told him he’d “get up out of the chair if he only had faith.” This isn’t what the street evangelism teams told the girl in Lakeland, but the effect was the same. I attended the street evangelism training in Lakeland last month and yes, they do need to give people a briefing on sensitivity to the feelings of the infirmed before they send them out.

But, the faithful hitting the streets in Lakeland have something the rest of the church doesn’t, that being… boldness. They are not sent forth with a spirit of timidity, but rather full bold faith in the power of God. Can a person walking in apostolic boldness simultaneously walk in great sensitivity? Yes. But this is a grace that doesn’t typically come initially. Boldness must be tempered by wisdom and discernment. Rather than criticize the street evangelism teams, we need to pray that they walk in wisdom and power, love and compassion.

ABC Nightline could have worked harder to find positive encounters out there on the street – like the lady I heard about when I was there who was planning to commit suicide the day she met a loving couple from the revival in a grocery store parking lot. That lady was baptized in love and hope in that parking lot and gave her life to Jesus Christ.

ABC Nightline found a local shop keeper who viewed the revival negatively. Maybe they should have interviewed the mayor and city council members and got a comment or two on the fact that Todd Bentley, who for 100 days has brought 5000-10,000 people daily to the city, is responsible for bringing millions and millions and millions of dollars into the city’s economy. I’d guess there are mayors all over America who would love to have something like this grace their city. Instead they predictably dug up Bentley’s dark past but neglected to report on his dramatic conversion to Jesus Christ and subsequent dozen years of ministry to the poor, the orphans and hurting worldwide.

ABC Nightline is incapable of any sort of favorable story on anything remotely Christian. I’m not even convinced they are telling the truth when they reported “not one single miracle could be independently verified.” Wow- that went across the airwaves turning the hearts of many against what is happening in Lakeland. But, I can point them to a verifiable miracle. I’ve even seen doctors on the platform in Lakeland standing alongside the healed to testify. Those stewarding the revival apparently need to spoon-feed stories to the media in their media packet but even then, Jesus spoke of a deep-seated societal unbelief, so deep that people won’t even be convinced when the dead are raised right before their eyes. ABC Nightline has a deep-seated disbelief for sure. The light is veiled from their eyes.

But hello, again, getting ABC Nightline to do a favorable story on anything Christian is about as likely as getting the Code Pink gals to do a favorable piece on the Iraq War. ABC and every other main stream media outlet has a distinct and secular (which means godless or without God) agenda. They are the spokespeople for the godless left and are keenly aware that the only thing standing in the way of gay marriage, abortions and decency in broadcasting is THE CHURCH.

I deal with the media here far more than I like because my role in the abortion battle in our state. More times than I can count I’ve found it maddening that the pro-life position is maligned and misrepresented by the media. We hand them facts and stories and testimonies on a silver platter and they don’t even do a story. We got 100 pro-life doctors together for a press conference in ‘06 and we had to beg the media to even show up. Yet, Planned Parenthood propaganda gets released and the media parades it across the headlines. Do we not see that these are the same types “reporting” on what is unfolding in Lakeland. They operate in the same denomic spirit. These are the very people who feed the global warming fears with story after story and fully ignore the vast amount of scientific expertise that says its all hoax and false alarm. Are we surprised they found nothing to verify in Lakeland? I’m not.

Many in my world believe an end-time revival is coming that will spread, in part, due to God touching the main stream media. I first grabbed onto these prophecies in the late 80’s when I lived in Kansas City. I still believe them to be true. However, I also know as we more fully enter the end of the age, the world will rage against the people of God. The people of God will be singled out for ridicule and reproach. Jesus said woe to you when men speak well of you. In other words, if they like us, we apparently aren’t much like Him (Jesus). The same hungry and hurting people who liked and flocked to Jesus are the same people who like and flock to Todd Bentley. The same people who feverishly tried to nail Jesus to the tree are the same types trying to nail Bentley today. That’s interesting to note isn’t it?

If you haven’t been to Lakeland to take this all in first hand, here’s one additional important thing ABC Nightline missed. They missed that there is more going on here than one sees on the stage. Most Christians can only imagine what it would be like to stand in such an atmosphere of faith. In this economy, people who buy airline tickets to get closer to where they hear God is moving are desperately hungry people. God always honors that hunger. Being in a tent with 5000-10000 people with that level of hunger places a heavy draw on heaven to visit earth. I’d rather be in that atmosphere any day than among the “Bible Deists” whose only hope for well-being is that their doctor will continue to dish out their antidepressants week after week. I’d rather be in the room with people who bought airline tickets to get a touch from God than sit in all these scoffing churches with people who aren’t hungry enough to drive a couple miles to church more than 2-3 Sunday mornings a month. This ABC Nightline story could have covered the OBVIOUS spiritual hunger in our land. They could have interviewed people who have given up hope on the pharmaceutical and health care industries, people who have no hope but God.

I hope you’ll also read my other posts on Todd Bentley and the Florida Outpouring. My main focus in all of these is that we ought to be really careful that we are not calling unclean what God has called clean. “For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:2

As you know if you read this blog I’m continuing to follow the Healing Outpouring in Lakeland,

As you know if you read this blog I’m continuing to follow the Healing Outpouring in Lakeland, FL with Todd Bentley. I’m sure that many of you reading have formed opinions for or against what is going on – personally I’ve stated that I’m for what God is doing there but that I’m not expecting it to be perfect either.

I want to encourage you to be open to ‘new things’ – I was reading a post from a leader that I really respect but he took a shot at ‘gold dust, jewels’ etc. This hit home with me because I’ve had the opportunity to meet an amazing, God-loving couple who have had supernatural jewels given to them. we have had people in our church come out of time in the presence of God and had gold dust all over them (my Mom didn’t wash her shirt for several days ).

Do I completely get this? No. Do I need to? No. Now it would be wrong if someone got so focused on gold dust for example that they forgot about Jesus, winning souls, making disciples etc. but it is also wrong to write something off without meeting people who have experienced it, thoroughly researching it, spending time in prayer over it because it may be something new (to us) that God is doing! I can say from personal experience that I have seen these experiences (when handled with wisdom) be a benefit and blessing to people.

With Lakeland, if you have been there, talked with people who have been healed, heard the hearts of those involved and you have decided that it is not of God then I respect your opinion. If you have made a decision based on some rumors, and a couple youtube videos then I would humbly encourage you to not write it off and speak negatively about it. Is it ok to have concerns/reservations? Sure. But don’t pass judgement without thorough research and prayer. Maybe this is God and you need to be open to ’something new’.

It was a notable night in Lakeland tonight at the Florida Healing Outpouring. My friend C. Peter Wag

It was a notable night in Lakeland tonight at the Florida Healing Outpouring. My friend C. Peter Wagner took the stage and explained Biblical apostolic alignment and then he invited key recognized apostles in the Body of Christ internationally to commission Todd Bentley to an even greater work of worldwide revival, signs and wonders, evangelism and Kingdom outpouring. Che Ahn, Bill Johnson and John Arnott agreed to provide apostolic oversight and encouragement to Todd. I expect the level of anointing, glory and geographical scope of this outpouring to notably increase after tonight.

A key word came forth that really popped in my spirit, especially with regard to the anonymous, unaccountable and unfruitful scoffers I’ve been warring against here in my posts on this revival. (You know about the online doctrine and revival police don’t you, those in the shadows sowing a fear of deception into the Body of Christ, those who only have faith for a counterfeit to appear on the scene, those who cut passages out of the Bible that don’t fit their experience, those who pass judgment on disputable matters…)

Here is the word: “Todd, God says ‘no longer will they call unclean what God calls clean.’” I hope that word really ministers to Todd because so many have been saying he’s “unclean.” (Acts 10:15) I guess what really matters is what God says about you – clean!

Here’s a transcript of what Peter Wagner said from the platform that was aired on GODTV.

LAKELAND OUTPOURING APOSTOLIC ALIGNMENT
June 23, 2008
C. Peter Wagner

A warm welcome to those of you who are present in this tent and to you who are watching through GOD TV. You are about to witness an event which could well have historic implications not only for the Lakeland Outpouring but also for our nation and for many other nations of the world. Prophets have been telling us for years that God is about to launch an extraordinary spiritual awakening with signs and wonders, and for over two months Todd Bentley has been leading one of the more obvious fulfillments of those prophecies. This is an exciting place to be right now!

My name is Peter Wagner and I am President of Global Harvest Ministries based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I have served the body of Christ in apostolic ministry for many years, and currently I preside over the International Coalition of Apostles which brings together over 500 recognized apostles. I have the honor of being assigned to preside over this momentous occasion, and I am humbled as I approach the task with an enormous sense of awe. Holy Spirit, I invite Your presence, Your power, and Your direction.

This is a ceremony celebrating the formal apostolic alignment of Todd Bentley. My first desire is to lay a biblical foundation for what we are about to do.

I will begin with a scripture that has been a central text for those of us who are in the stream of the contemporary apostolic/prophetic movement, Ephesians 4:11-12:

And He Himself [Jesus at His ascension] gave some
To be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists
And some pastors and teachers,
For the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry.

The word “equipping” is a translation of the Greek katartizo which literally means “aligning,” as in setting a broken bone or a chiropractic adjustment. It means putting things in order so that the body functions as it was designed to function. This is one of the responsibilities of apostles such as those whom you see on the platform, and that is the reason we are present tonight. For example, Paul wrote to Titus, “For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking” (Titus 1:5).

Speaking of Paul and Titus, their relationship is a biblical prototype of apostolic alignment. The same would apply to Paul and Timothy. The apostolic alignment of Timothy and Titus with Paul was a principal factor in allowing God to develop and fulfill His complete destiny in both of their lives.

But Paul himself was also apostolically aligned. Soon after he was called to join Barnabas and his colleagues in Antioch for the then controversial ministry of planting churches among Gentiles, he traveled to Jerusalem to bring a gift for famine relief and also to align with some of the apostles. I want to use the experience that Paul had on that occasion as the text for the protocol for tonight’s alignment and commissioning of Todd Bentley. It is found in Galatians 2:9 which tells the story of one of Paul’s visits to Jerusalem:

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars,
Perceived the grace that had been given to me,
They gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship,
That we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Todd is following Paul’s example by inviting to the platform three apostolic pillars of today’s church: Ché Ahn of Pasadena, California, Bill Johnson of Redding, California, and John Arnott of Toronto, Canada, Todd’s native land. They represent an apostolic network called Revival Alliance.

Notice that the apostles in Jerusalem “perceived the grace that God had given to Paul.” “The word “grace” is charis, the root of charisma, meaning “spiritual gift or gifts.” In Paul’s case it was the gift mix necessary to carry the gospel to the Gentiles. In Todd’s case it is the gift mix necessary to lead the Lakeland Outpouring.

I have a question for the three apostles: Do you perceive the grace of God given to Todd Bentley as an evangelist to lead the Lakeland Outpouring? [Answer: “I do.”]

I have a question for Todd Bentley: Do you recognize the apostolic authority of these three men in your life and ministry, and do you desire to establish an apostolic alignment with them and with Revival Alliance? [Answer: “I do.”]

With this affirmation we will move to a formal commissioning, equivalent to “offering the right hand of fellowship” as the three apostles did to Paul in Jerusalem.

This commissioning represents a powerful spiritual transaction taking place in the invisible world. With this in mind, I take the apostolic authority that God has given me and I decree to Todd Bentley:

· Your power will increase.
· Your authority will increase.
· Your favor will increase.
· Your influence will increase.
· Your revelation will increase.

I also decree that:

· A new supernatural strength will flow through this ministry.
· A new life force will penetrate this move of God.
· A government will be established to set things in their proper order.
· God will pour out a higher level of discernment to distinguish truth from error.
· New relationships will surface to open gates for the future.

[To Ché Ahn] Ché, you may now proceed.
