After watching this video, I really hope that the boxing promoters are steadily working towards getting Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. into the boxing ring. I can’t stand Mayweather’s arrogant and cocky attitude! After beating Cotto a few short weeks ago, everyone’s been talking about the next match up. It’s sure to be one of the most anticipated matches next year, and will definitely bring in a lot of cash to both parties and HBO. But honestly I am looking forward to the look on Mayweather’s face when he gets his ass beat by Pacquiao. Then I will be able to sit back, replay all the moments in slow motion, and just laugh at Mayweather’s sorry ass! Let’s get this match over with now, the anticipation is killing me!

As most of us should know, the probable 2010 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr is going to be a classic. Las Vegas has suffered a lot due to the recession and what better way to generate some money than to host, what will most likely be, the biggest fight in boxing history. Predictions for the pay-per-view sales are at about $5 million. Since Pacquiao’s last win over Miguel Cotto (12 Round TKO), many places aside from Vegas are looking to host the fight. However, Vegas wants to host this fight badly enough, that they’re willing to build a new stadium for it! The arena will be a 30, 000 seat outdoor stadium on a Las Vegas Boulevard. Shit son.

Mayweather-Pacquiao: it's gotta be done The fans want it. HBO’s president Ross Greenburg

Mayweather-Pacquiao: it's gotta be done

The fans want it. HBO’s president Ross Greenburg promises it. Top Rank chief Bob Arum says he would be an idiot to not make it. Freddie Roach has been wanting it for some time (and thinks Pacquiao will definitely KO Mayweather). Rugged Man demands it**. The fighters? Well, they haven’t really said they don’t want it.

Pacquiao will always espouse that crappy ‘I let my promoter decide who I fight’ line, but at least he has said he’s willing to fight anybody and when asked point blank in a recent interview he said for the record that he wants to fight Mayweather. And besides, if both Arum and Roach are determined to make it happen, then that effectively equates to Manny wanting the fight.

Therefore, the way I see it, whether the ultimate boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr will happen may depend on which of Floyd’s two nicknames he wants to adopt: ‘Money’ or ‘Pretty Boy’.

If Floyd is all about the ‘Money’ (as he claims to be), then there’s no way this fight won’t get done. Initial reports indicate that a fight between the two biggest names in boxing at the moment who also happen to be the top 2 pound-for-pound fighters in the world (how rare is that?), would surely challenge if not smash the PPV record set by De La Hoya-Mayweather in May 2007 (2.44 million PPV buys). There is not a single fight out there between any two living fighters that would generate anywhere close to the type of money that Pacquiao-Mayweather would make. Even with a 50-50 purse split (discussed further below), Mayweather would make more than double what he could make going 70-30 with any other fighter in the world.

On the other hand, if Floyd wants to remain a ‘Pretty Boy’, he can keep on ranting about how boxing ‘is a business’ or ‘doesn’t work like that’ and that he won’t do business with Bob Arum (his former promoter with whom he had a difficult falling out). Or, as Freddie Roach best put it: “When [Mayweather] says he wants 65 percent of the revenue, that’s like saying he doesn’t want to fight.” Not saying that Floyd can’t get the ‘Money’ and remain a ‘Pretty Boy’ by outclassing Pacquiao without taking a beating, but there’s no way Floyd thinks that it will be a walk in the park for him. He’s seen Diaz, De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto. All of them (except Hatton who went out too early) looked like they had been through meat grinders after the fight. His father, Floyd Sr, is so traumatised by Pacquiao’s dominance that he has accused the Filipino superstar of being on performance-enhancing drugs.

So does Mayweather even want the fight?

I think he does, even if it’s just for the money. As made abundantly clear on his heated interview with Rugged Man, Mayweather doesn’t care about his legacy. Actually, he already believes that his legacy (as one of the greatest of all time) is set in stone. Perhaps, but if he doesn’t end up fighting Pacquiao or (to a lesser extent) Shane Mosley, that legacy will be tarnished forever. Mayweather has already carved out a reputation as a dodger of dangerous opponents (regardless of whether the reputation has merit). A single bout against Pacquiao which Mayweather says he can easily win will go a long way towards erasing that reputation, and more importantly, will make Floyd more money than he’s ever seen. No one doubts that Mayweather has the ability to beat Pacquiao, which is what makes his reluctance so frustrating.

Maybe it’s just posturing to put himself in the best position when the time comes to talk about the purse split. Maybe he just wants to stir up more controversy and paint himself as the ‘bad guy’ for more publicity for the fight. Maybe’s he’s genuinely afraid of Pacquiao. Or maybe he’s just a douche. Regardless, Floyd Mayweather Jr has been mouthing off about Manny Pacquiao since the Filipino’s impressive victory over Miguel Cotto.

“I’m in a no-win situation,” Mayweather said. “If I beat Manny Pacquiao you know what they are going to say? ‘You are supposed to beat him, you are Floyd Mayweather, you are the bigger man.’ If I knock him out they’ll say, ‘You’re supposed to knock him out [because] he’s been knocked out before.’ I’m in a no-win situation and when I beat him no one is going to be surprised because he’s been beaten before. Whatever I do to Pacquiao has been done before. He’s been beaten on three occasions. And if I knock him out I don’t want the world shouting because he’s been knocked out twice before.”

When Floyd Mayweather Jr says fighting Pacquiao is a “no-win situation” for him, all it is doing is make him look like he is looking for a way out.

Floyd has also been trying to shift the blame to Pacquaio in case the fight doesn’t happen. As quoted in Dan Rafael’s blog at ESPN, Mayweather says that Pacquiao doesn’t want to fight him because Manny knows he can’t beat Floyd. Despite not having said once that he wants to fight Pacquiao, Mayweather is now saying that Manny has not come out and said publicly he wants a piece of Floyd. This may be true, but Pacquiao doesn’t need to. Arum makes Pacquiao’s fights and Arum has made it unequivocally clear that he will do everything he can to make the Mayweather bout happen. In contrast, according his own words, Mayweather is his “own boss”, speaks for himself and “tell it like it is.” This actually makes Floyd look worse because it just means it has been his own personal choice to dodge all the top, prime welterweights, and that if a fight with Pacquiao doesn’t happen, it’s because Floyd doesn’t want it to.

In response, Bob Arum simply said: “All I want to say is that my guy [Pacquiao] has said, ‘We’re here, we’re ready to fight Mayweather.’ “ This was confirmed in the link above to the video interview.

In the end, I don’t think Floyd really has a choice. Neither does Manny for that matter. If either one of them backs out from this fight to take on another boxer (or retire), especially when all the stars are seemingly aligned, there will be so much public backlash and animosity against that man that it will have a permanent impact on his reputation and career.

Purse and weight negotiations

The logical purse split for a fight of this magnitude is 50-50. Most commentators are now of the opinion that this will not be difficult to achieve given the amount of money that is at stake.

From Pacquaio’s side, the man doing the negotiating is obviously Top Rank’s Bob Arum. And on Mayweather’s side, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy will represent Floyd (as Floyd has signed a 5-fight deal with them). Al Haymon and Leonard Ellerbe are Floyd’s advisers who will liaise closely with Schaefer to ensure the negotiations reflect Floyd’s intentions.

There will probably be a bit of back and forth with both sides arguing that they should get he lion’s share of the purse. Mayweather’s camp will argue that he is undefeated and that his PPV numbers against their common opponents (De La Hoya, Hatton and Marquez) were better than Pacquiao’s. On the other hand, Pacquiao’s camp will argue that Manny’s most recent PPV numbers (the Cotto fight did at least 1.25 million buys) are more impressive than Floyd’s (the Marquez fight did 1.05 million PPV buys) and that when Mayweather fought De La Hoya and Hatton, the global financial crisis hadn’t struck yet. Plus, Marquez really only made a name for himself because he was in two very tight contests against Pacquiao.

I believe they will settle on 50-50 in the end. Both Mayweather and Arum’s egos are too big to allow the other to get even a couple of percentage points on them. And honestly, I think 50-50 is a fair result. There is no doubt that Pacquiao is the bigger international superstar at the moment and is by far the more exciting fighter, but Floyd is an equally big draw because he’s also a crossover star and people would pay to see him lose.

As for the weight, there shouldn’t be much controversy. 147 pounds. Pacquiao may try to seek a Cotto-esque weight of 145, but as we have seen Mayweather’s fight with Marquez, Floyd doesn’t really care about the contracted weight restrictions. The weight should be a big advantage for Mayweather as we know that Manny maxes out at around 148 on fight night whereas Floyd, who refused to be re-weighed for the Marquez fight, should be at least 155.

Preliminary prediction

So assuming this megafight will happen some time around May 2010, it’s time to make a preliminary prediction.

I just want to preface this by saying that there is no point comparing the Manny Pacquaio of the past to the Manny Pacquiao of now. Too often I see people downplaying Pacquiao’s chances in this fight based on what happened to him more than 10 years ago (when he suffered 2 KO losses and a draw as a weight-drained Flyweight or Bantamweight) , against Erik Morales (who won their first encounter via decision but was knocked out in the 2 rematches), and against Juan Manuel Marquez (with whom Pacquiao had a draw and split decision win over, though both were questionable). Morales was Pacquiao’s last loss and it was more than 4 years ago when Pacquiao was at super featherweight (130 pounds). The two fights against Marquez were at featherweight (126 pounds) and super featherweight (130 pounds). Pacquiao is a true 140-147 pounder now, and he is much better at this weight. He has somehow managed to increase his speed, power and endurance, and he is now significantly more experienced, patient, and obedient when it comes to following Freddie Roach’s game plans. There’s just no comparison. If he fought the fat, old Marquez we saw against Mayweather now…well, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.

As for the Pacquiao-Mayweather, it’s a tough call, but I see three possible scenarios. The first is that Floyd Mayweather Jr is simply too big and too skilled, and just outboxes Pacquiao with his superior reach and defense to claim an easy points decision victory, kind of in the same mould as the Marquez fight. Floyd has a 5 inch reach advantage (72-67) on Pacquiao, and is the naturally bigger man with phenomenal speed and an awkwardness that will frustrate any fighter. Pacquiao has never fought someone as quick, skilled and big as Mayweather, and it could prove to be a gap too wide.

However, I cannot see Floyd knocking out Pacquiao unless Manny loses his cool and is tagged by a big counter (like when Mayweather KO’ed Hatton). In his last few fights, Pacquiao has demonstrated a vastly improved defense and plenty of caution and discipline. He no longer jumps in recklessly and rarely leaves himself wide open, so the chances of a counter-punch KO are slim. Besides, Pacquiao showed in the Cotto fight that he can take a punch at welterweight. I have since watched the Cotto fight a couple more times, and Manny really got tagged with some nasty shots. Stiff jabs, jolting uppercuts, ripping body blows. And he took them all. Pacquiao had a busted ear drum to go with bad swelling from the fight. He could have used his trademark in-and-out style all night to beat Cotto but instead chose to stand his ground and take the shots head on. As he said, he wanted to test Cotto’s power, and he passed the test with flying colours. There is no way Mayweather hits harder than Cotto. With Floyd’s brittle hands, there’s just no way.

On the other hand, the second and third scenarios I see both have Manny Pacquiao emerging as the victor – either by unanimous decision or KO. Pacquiao has comparable hand speed to Mayweather and possibly better foot speed, and definitely more power. Floyd may be a defensive specialist, but Manny is an offensive specialist. I can see a situation where Pacquiao utilises his seemingly endless energy to pressure Mayweather all night and keep raining rapid combos down on him. Floyd may bob and weave and shoulder roll and block, but every blow that connects will count. Floyd may be fantastic at toying with guys that can only throw 1 or 2 punches at a time from orthodox angles, but it remains to be seen how he can handle someone like Pacquiao – a tireless freak with speed and power in both hands that attacks in 3, 4, 5, 6 punch combinations from angles you just don’t expect and don’t see coming (just ask Miguel Cotto).

This assessment is somewhat similar to what Freddie Roach said on ESPN: “Whatever Floyd gives us, we’ll take. Manny will [hit] him on the arms, the shoulders, wherever he can, and Mayweather will feel it. There’s no way Mayweather can win the fight running, and that’s what he does best.”

Zab Judah was probably the closest thing to Pacquiao that Mayweather has fought, but he was too undisciplined and has a soft jaw. And let’s not forget, Judah hit Mayweather with quite a few shots early on in that fight (including a genuine knockdown that wasn’t counted), but didn’t have the resiliency or stamina to carry it through to the end.

Jose Luis Castillo, who lost 2 decisions to Mayweather (the first of which some thought he won – though Mayweather had a shoulder injury at the time), sparred with Pacquiao in the lead up to the Cotto fight, and said that Pacquiao is faster and hits way harder than Mayweather. And this is the Pacquiao at 144 pounds compared to the Mayweather at lightweight (135 pounds). Maybe he’s still bitter about his first fight with Mayweather, but if there’s any truth to what Castillo said, then Mayweather could be in for a long night.

Accordingly, in my Pacquiao-wins scenario, if Floyd runs, I see him losing a decision. If he stands his ground, I see him getting knocked out.

So which of the 3 scenarios is most likely? At this stage I have to go what would appear to be the most unlikely – Pacquiao by KO! People may say that Mayweather’s style will give Pacquiao fits but the same could be said the other way around. If Pacquiao stays patient and keeps the pressure on and is disciplined with his approach, I think he can win. Otherwise it just means Floyd Mayweather Jr is really that good. And after watching some of Floyd’s past fights on YouTube, I would not be surprised if he is. The guy is truly amazing.

At the end of the day, I have a feeling that the Cotto fight will be the reason Pacquiao will win. Floyd took an easy fight in ‘lightweight’ Marquez, and Pacquiao took the hard fight in Cotto, and I believe that will ultimately be the difference.

** For those who don’t already know, Rugged Man is an emcee who recently OWNED Mayweather on radio for 20 minutes. Essentially, he took it right to Mayweather from the start about avoiding the big fights and said what has been on every non-Mayweather-ballhugger’s mind for years. YouTube ‘Rugged Man’ and ‘Mayweather’ and listen to it. It’s not only revealing but also extraordinarily hilarious.

Saturday November 21st, 2009
by Suge Green

How many Mayweather articles can be written in boxing? How many articles can be written about Mayweather in one day? How many articles on Mayweather can be written by one man, in one day? How many Mayweather articles can be written by one man, in one day, and posted on one site?

Boxing writers now days seldom report news. What they in fact do, is wait for news to be reported…copy it, and put it out within minutes often times, of the original source. A small change here or there, a thought or rhetorical question added…Yawn.

Adding a question, or a single thought to news that has saturated the boxing community previously is not reporting! I believe fans of the sport would be best served if these so-called “writers,” would simply join a boxing forum. If you would like to endlessly express your opinion on EXISTING & previously reported news, forums are ideal. The entire OnThEGRiND BOXiNG Team enjoys boxing forums to an extent, so it’s not with an elitist attitude that these comments are made.

For the most part though, these “writers,” are wannabe publicists. For the uninitiated that don’t know the game, it’s something like this…

If I’m a struggling publicist, and I need to get information on major sites about lesser known fighters, I may do something like the following. I may look through the boxing news, observe what the most popular articles are…find an apparent void in that area on a certain site, and fill it. I will write about the same crap popping up on every site. I am still the same publicist, but now I am a writer. I will also began submitting my “nobody cares news (press releases),” to accompany my, “you already read this somewhere else news.”

This is how we end up with yet another Mayweather article everywhere. The publicist is giving the site traffic with the “hot story,” so the site rolls with the punches and allows the not so popular pieces to go up…although, these pieces are actually publicity.

Why not just send a press release, the intelligent boxing fan asks?

Good question. Boxing websites discard press releases every day. A major site gets enough press releases in a day’s time to fill up an average size site for a week. If all of these releases are posted, the real or important, or timely, or relevant stories will be buried.

So, what to do? The motivated publicist begins to write the “hot stories” as well as pieces for their client. Relationships are built with websites, and surprise… you are now reading “press,” instead of news.

Another solution some sites attempt is this…compile several press releases into one piece. Some editor/writer then allows others to believe he’s just released some sort of “news round up” type piece, giving the impression that he is plugged into all kinds of things that he’s never even heard of. This is what I call the Slater Approach.

On any given day at internet shit hole eastsideboxing, James Slater has articles up compiling press releases…but the article says “by James Slater.” These “articles” do not say they were complied by Slater, nor do they say they were submitted by publicists…it simply appears to be a writer’s work.

Neither of these approaches are reporting, and nearly every major site suffers from some form of this publicity as news, and the side effect it brings…countless versions of “hot stories.”

There is however, one other group I haven’t touched on. There are people out their that consider themselves writers, who are not publicists, and still copy stories for a sense of personal satisfaction that is otherwise elusive to them. Twenty something white males are usually the biggest offenders. They are usually fat, short, and have poor ways with women. When they see more people commenting about their story, than they have ever had a discussion with in the real world, they have found their sense of worth. These poor bastards constitute a large percentage of “boxing writers.”

Another pathetic group is the natural progression of the aforementioned individual. The fifty something white guy. More specifically the 50 something, fat, out of touch white guy. This person matches the same psychological profile as the previously mentioned younger offender, but also says things like, “We are really doing big things at “Website-X.”

No. You are not doing “really big things.” You are not a teenager or a twenty something urban male. Be you. Say that you are, “Takin’ care of business.” Try, “Keep on truckin’,” or something like that. Whatever you wannabes do, just stop…and realize you are having a very public mid-life crisis.

So whether you are a short fat irrelevant fool who can’t get any chics, and are getting your thrills by being read…or if you are a publicist writing more of the same, just so you can get the word out about your clients…or if you are the older and just as pathetic guy who’s only “big thing” is his waist line…or the editor/writer that is calling a cut and paste job, “writing….”

All of you collectively are an example of what is wrong with boxing news, and YOU SUCK!

The weekend is near, and tomorrow, Saturday November 20th, will mark one week ago after Manny Pacquiao knocked out Cotto, in a brilliant display of ever improving all around pound for pound boxing, displayed for the millions upon millions of fans worldwide.

Manny Pacquiao was so devastating, yet so tactical and conclusively dominating, that the Puerto Rican fans that have loyally supported their hero Cotto, had to give it up to the respectful dynamo from the Philippines that never quits.

If you did not like that fight last Saturday night, then you must not like boxing.

I was concerned for Cotto’s health after the thrashing Manny gave him in the 9th round.I had predicted a knock out in the fight, I just did not know it was going to be so brutal….but that’s boxing.

Her won fair and square, and was quite humble after the fight. It’s a good thing he is religious, because if he ever did get the devil in him,he might gloat about his skills like his next opponent, if it can be worked out, Floyd MayweatherJr.

I hope that these two can make a deal, and set a date for what will be the fight of the century. This match would bring the boxing game back to a dominant position in sports that it once enjoyed in the past.

Question is…will Mayweather have the heart to risk his chin in a fight with the Pac-man,that is the mystery.

I think that Floyd will make an unreasonable demand on the split of the money, and proclaim that he is the draw, and the more famous and dominant fighter, and talk a lot about his money blah, blah ,blah….who cares?

He will try all the loud subterfuge that a loud mouth ‘has- been’ can drum up, and blame the break down of the deal on Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach, who has proven himself to be the greatest trainer in the whole boxing game…and I do mean that he is better than Floyd’s dad, and his uncle Roger combined, if they like each other or not.

Remember how Floyd ducked from fighting Margarito, and wanted no part of Shane Mosley, to the point that Mosley had to step to Floyd after Floyd beat up on an outmatched Marquez, and all Floyd could do is talk more trash about …don’t disrespect me?…

What was that? It definitely was a bad look for Floyd, and a good move by Mosley to expose the fake Floyd for what he is…just a Pretty Boy, but not a true brawler.

That was as funny as much as it was telling. If Floyd was really upset, he would have told Shane that he would fight him anytime, and anywhere, like a real fighter would. He would have shouted him down face to face like Rampage and Rashad from the UFC.

Do I have to stick with the UFC to get some real good match-ups, or do I have to watch Floyd duck and dodge Manny while he beats up on some more selective tomato cans? I am truly embarrassed for the brother.

Tarver stepped to Roy Jones, Jr., and Roy at least gave Tarver his next fight.

Tarver seized the opportunity and knocked Roy out cold, and I am certain that the Pretty Boy wants to avoid that predictable fate that is awaiting him the moment he steps in to the ring with Pacquiao.

Keep it simple and take a 50/50 split, and give the public what they want…a Pretty Boy Floyd knockout courtesy of Manny Pac-Man Pacquiao.

Mark my words…if they have not made the fight yet, after Floyd was publicly called out on the worlds biggest audience for a PPV boxing match ever…then Floyd is frightened, and is looking for a face-saving way out of the match, and to still look cool.

Maybe his uncle Roger will help him out and sucker punch Pacquiao for Floyd, like he did to Zab Judah, when a street fight broke out in the ring.

That act of cowardice was very telling.

I hope we get to see who really is the man, and then we will all get to see if Floyd is for real, or as expected just all talk.

We all know what Manny Pacquiao is made of.His last 5 victories speaks volumes for him,and we know Floyd has been watching….and running away.

Only time will tell.

This should be a blow to Floyd’s ego:

Manny Pacquiao’s historic 12th-round TKO of Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas on Saturday night did big business.

The Top Rank-promoted fight generated 1.25 million buys and $70 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue, HBO announced Friday. If historical trends hold, the numbers will increase when all of the buys are officially audited.

The 1.25 million buys, the most for a boxing pay-per-view this year, came from 650,000 from cable homes and 600,000 from satellite services.

Cotto, who is from Puerto Rico, helped drive the fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena to an all-time record for buys on the island with 110,000 units sold.

Combined with the approximately 1.05 million buys generated by Floyd Mayweather’s dominant decision victory against Juan Manuel Marquez on Sept. 19, it was the first time since 1999 — when Felix Trinidad claimed a decision against Oscar De La Hoya in a welterweight unification fight and Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield fought to a highly controversial draw for the undisputed heavyweight championship — that two pay-per-view fights have generated at least 1 million buys in the same calendar year.

Introduction
2009 is a great year for boxing. Earlier in the year, Pacquiao had an amazing performance against Hatton, defeating him in 2 rounds. Mayweather announced his coming back from retirement and out boxed one of the best pound for pound fighters in the sport, Juan Manuel Marquez. This increased Mayweather’s unbeaten record to 40-0. Several days ago, Pacquiao convincingly defeated the former Welterweight World Champion, Miguel Cotto in 11 rounds. Many critics and fan argue who is truly the best pound for pound fighter in boxing, and we may see this fight of a lifetime materializing in 2010.

Pound For Pound Championship (click image for source)

As a boxing fan for 6 years and counting, I will break down each boxer’s strengths and weaknesses as objectively as possible watching from their fights.

Speed
Strength is comprised of 2 major factors: speed and weight. Pacquiao is naturally the shorter and lighter than Mayweather, therefore he has more speed. Please note however, that Mayweather is extremely fast and should not be overlooked. Winner: Pacquiao

Weight
The other factor in determining strength is weight. Mayweather is naturally taller and heavier than Pacquiao, therefore he has more weight. Please note that both Pacquiao and Mayweather will be pretty close in weight, however. Winner: Mayweather

Defense
Mayweather’s uncanny and masterful ability to duck and avoid power punches serves him well. However, Pacquiao is a different type of defensive player, one who can take power hits head on, or as they say he has a good chin. Winner: Mayweather

Accuracy
A major factor in determining who has a better offense, besides weight and speed, is accuracy. Strength and speed mean nothing if you are not hitting your target. A reason why Pacquiao’s gets so many KO’s is because he lands his punches in accurately convincing manner. He’ll have his hands full however, as Mayweather is the best defensive boxer and is an extremely accurate counter puncher. Either fighter is a perfect match for each other. Winner: Pacquiao

Ok Floyd, there you have it. Manny wants to do a square dance just as much as you do. Now let’s get down to business, get the promoters to meet halfway and settle this pound-for-pound thing, once and for all by Spring ‘10. The world is literally awaiting.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has said he is ready to make the big-money fight with newly crowned WBO welterw

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has said he is ready to make the big-money fight with newly crowned WBO welterweight world champion Manny Pacquiao happen.

After victory in Las Vegas over Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto on Saturday, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach said the “whole world” now wanted to see a fight with Mayweather.

Reacting to the proposition the undefeated 32-year-old, who formerly held the WBC title at welterweight, told British broadcaster Sky Sports: “If he wants to fight Floyd Mayweather all he has to do is step up to the plate.”

The twice-voted Ring magazine fighter of the year added that he felt Pacquiao’s approach was one-dimensional but the Filipino would be a favorite with the crowd.

“The thing is with Pacquaio I don’t see any versatility as a fighter; he’s a good puncher but just one-dimensional. Is Pacquiao the greatest?
If he wants to fight … all he has to do is step up to the plate”

The world’s going to go ‘wow’ if Floyd Mayweather gets beaten. That’s what everyone is looking to see.

“If I beat Manny Pacquaio do you know what they are going to say? ‘You are supposed to beat him, you are Floyd Mayweather, you are the bigger man’. If I knock him out they’ll say ‘you’re supposed to knock him out he’s been knocked out before.”

“I’m in a no-win situation and when I beat him no one is going to be surprised because he’s been beaten before; whatever I do to Pacquaio has been done before – he’s been beaten on three occasions. And if I knock him out I don’t want the world shouting because he’s been knocked out twice before.”

If the fight goes ahead it is expected to challenge the mark set by Oscar De La Hoya’s bout with Floyd Mayweather for the most profitable in history.

Money generated from pay-per-view subscriptions earned the two fighters an estimated combined total of $77 million in 2007.

Mayweather, whose nickname is “Money,” said: “If I go out and make $60-75 million in one night; come on – I’m not losing.”

If I were to tell Floyd Mayweather jr is just all about talks and yeah he is the boss because he chooses his enemies in which he can easily beat. And for Manny Pacquiao that’s a fighter he waits for anyone else
that challenge him in order to prove out of all his fans that he deserve his spot and respect.
