I recorded the WCCO 10 o’clock news after the Minnesota Tax Cut Rally on Saturday, May 2nd.

I just went and watched it tonight and I wasn’t surprised to find that they didn’t mention the rally at all. Instead they had the usual fluff that they are notorious for. Now to be fair, I didn’t actually sit and watch the whole thing because I didn’t think I would be able to stay awake long enough. However, I did slowly buzz through it so if they did mention it then they didn’t bother to show any pictures or video of it.

At one point I thought they had covered it but it just turned out to be a tiny rally in Fargo for that woman convicted of spying in Iran. I guess a couple hundred people rallying in Fargo is more important than SEVERAL THOUSAND people protesting irresponsible government at the state capitol.

If I were someone who watched WCCO I would be disgusted by their horrible coverage of current events. WCCO must be either incredibly biased or just plain incompetent. There had to be at least 5000 people at the tax cut rally and Tim Pawlenty gave a speech! We all know that Pawlenty was considered as a running mate for John McCain and he might run for the GOP nomination in 2012.

If that isn’t a news story then I don’t know what is.

WCCO is worthless.

I also recorded KARE 11 and they covered the rally and had video at 10pm. Their description of the event wasn’t perfect but I have to give them props for fair coverage.

…with this latest bit of inanity: An AP-Yahoo News poll found that pet owners favor McCain ove

…with this latest bit of inanity:

An AP-Yahoo News poll found that pet owners favor McCain over Obama 42 percent to 37 percent, with dog owners particularly in McCain’s corner…

The poll found that among people who don’t have pets, Obama leads McCain 48 percent to 34 percent.

But that still leaves McCain looking strong, since the majority of homes have a pet…

The AP-Yahoo News poll is part of an ongoing study that tracks the attitudes and opinions of a group of more than 2,000 Americans to see how their political views evolve over the course of the election campaign.

The AP-Yahoo News survey of 1,759 adults was conducted from June 13-23 and had an overall margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points. The margin of sampling error for population subgroups is larger.

The poll was conducted over the Internet by Knowledge Networks, which initially contacted people using traditional telephone polling methods and followed with online interviews. People chosen for the study who had no Internet access were given it free.

Where to begin?

First, AP doesn’t include the survey questions that were asked. Second, it has the standard (and growing) coverage bias that leaves cell phone users who don’t also own landlines out in the cold. Third, the telephone interviews more than likely resulted in nonresponses for the online follow-up; those who don’t have an internet connection have usually chosen not to have one because they’re not comfortable with the internet — and therefore don’t want access even if its provided for free. Fourth, it neglects to mention the confidence level of the survey.

Finally, who gives a shit? Here’s a funny thought: Maybe AP and Yahoo should ask, oh… I dunno… PERTINENT QUESTIONS ABOUT POLICY ISSUES AND THE CANDIDATES’ POSITIONS instead of how dog vs. cat owners break down for the two candidates four months before the politics-as-usual election in November?

Just a thought.

What is the point of this story? It reads like something a junior high school student wrote. It has no news and, contrary to the idiotic title “How the Democrats survived until Unity,” it doesn’t actually explain how the Dems survived until the Obama love fest in Unity (and by the way, I switched to the Green Party on June 7th, so the party is dead to ME).

Is this really what CNN has been reduced to?

From the “Department of Who Gives A Shit?” People would rather barbecue burgers with Bar

From the “Department of Who Gives A Shit?”

People would rather barbecue burgers with Barack Obama than with John McCain.

While many are still deciding who should be president, by 52 percent to 45 percent they would prefer having Obama than McCain to their summer cookout, according to an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll released Wednesday.

Yahoo should be embarrassed to have its name associated with this tripe. Oh, and if anyone from the AP has a problem with my blockquoting Ass Press content: Go fuck yourself.
