Jared Loughner

The only way you could have missed hearing about the shooting that took place at the Safeway in Casas Adobes, AZ yesterday is if you were hiding under a rock.

The news that has created grassroots finger pointing among neighbors and friends and stirred up what could be a molotov cocktail politically was the killing of six people and injury of 14 others, including Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords.

The 22 year old who has been charged with attempted assasination of a member of Congress (among other charges) is a man named Jared Loughner.

Supposedly Jared is a fan of such books as Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto but it really doesn’t matter what he likes, reads or follows.  Clearly he is not operating with a full set of marbles any more than Ted Bundy, Mark David Chapman or anyone else who decides to wake up and kill someone any given day.

I haven’t commented on articles like this from the U.S. in a while because, quite frankly, I could write lots of feng shui articles about people being shot every day. 

The news in my hometown usually has a laundry list of deaths before they get to weather and sports.  Some days it seems like that’s the only news to talk about.

But for some reason I kept feeling drawn to this particular story.  Not because it’s popular but because it felt like there was some link (odd as it sounds).

Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords (Reuters)

Sure enough, my intuition was right because Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and Jared Loughner have the exact same Flying Star number (also known as Kua number).  Very unusual.

Because of this connection their Flying Star Feng Shui energy is the same too and this month the Stars are not good for either of them.

Both Giffords and Loughner have the Disaster Star sitting on their health direction for January.  Although most people would experience this as a cold or the flu (if at all) for those people who are mentally unstable, like Loughner, the Disaster Star can cause them to go over the edge. 

Clearly Loughner went over the edge.

But what about Giffords?  She wasn’t sick or mentally ill.  No, but the Disaster Star on her health direction also sits with the Relationship Star meaning that the odds of something unfortunate related to her health being triggered by another person were higher this month.  Unfortunately those odds presented themselves in the form of Jared Loughner.

The Flying Stars on their career directions indicate mental and emotional difficulties.  Perhaps Loughner was distraught not only about life but also work or lack of work.  That remains yet to be seen.

For Giffords the mental difficulties are literal.  She was shot in the head by a crazy man while at work (her career).

And this month the Flying Stars that sit on Loughner’s decision making direction create what’s called a double metal clash.  This combination creates thoughts of fighting and war and with the negative energy of the Flying Stars on his career and health direction this double metal clash energy was able to manifest itself physically in the form of a shooting rampage in the Safeway parking lot.

Interestingly enough both Loughner and Giffords’ wisdom directions are tied to government.  Jared Loughner was supposedly angry with the government and lashed out at a government official at a political event. 

All of this fits right in to the Flying Stars this month.

And a final ‘Flying Stars are stranger than fiction’ note, Gifford has the Violence Star on her relationship direction right now as does Loughner.  For Gifford this Star manifested as violence against her personally while Loughner experienced this Star as the perpetrator of that violence.

Sending light for the full recovery of those injured in yesterday’s shooting and love to those whose family members are no longer with them.

More than likely, it’s coming from the change in Flying Stars.

On February 4, the Feng Shui Flying Stars for 2011 will arrive and the Stars for 2010 will be gone.  But right now we are in a period of transition from one year’s energy to the next so what you’re feeling is the old Stars leaving and the energy of the new Stars beginning to make their way in.

If you put up your annual feng shui activations for 2010 and you’re already feeling this shift I would advise you to go ahead and take those activations down now.  This way you can give your home and/or office a couple of weeks to clear out the old to make way for the new.

I told him that the time to look at the feng shui, especially Flying Star Feng Shui, is BEFORE you even sign the contract on an office because it’s very important to check the Flying Stars on the front door of the office and on the office of the person bringing in the clients.

If the Stars on both the front door and sales office are bad the odds of the business going under are extremely high.  In fact, you shouldn’t even rent or buy the office.

If the Flying Stars on the front door are bad but they’re good on the sales office (or vice versa) the business will do better but it will be a constant challenge to bring in new clients, keep clients and make money. 

As it turns out this guy’s prior office had a double Disaster Star on the front door and Stars on his personal office that indicated money would be like a roller coaster for his business – up one day and down the next.  It’s hard to budget when you don’t know what your cash flow is going to be because it’s so unpredictable.

His eyes got wide and he said, “Oh, wow, that’s exactly how it’s been.  Some days I go to the bank and the deposit is so small that I’m not sure if we’re going to be able to cover the bills.  Then a week or two later I get enough business that it relieves some of the stress, but I never know from one week to the next what’s coming in.”

Yep, no surprise.

It turns out that the office he was moving into also has a double Disaster Star on it.  (It’s strange how once you bring that energy in to your home or business you keep attracting it to yourself.)  Fortunately, the Stars on his personal office are good for attracting and keeping clients as well as making money.

So, even though this office is not ideal and will still be a challenge for him, at least his cash flow should become more consistent (though the clients he attracts may create headaches for him).

My point in blogging about this is to let you know that BEFORE you sign a contract to rent or buy an office or home make sure you check out the Flying Star feng shui of the building FIRST.  The reason for this is that you can’t eliminate the negative energy of bad Stars.  You can only reduce its effects.

It’s much easier to pass on a building with bad feng shui than it is to live or work in it.

Her pants were beige, her tops were beige, her shoes were beige and even her jacket, coat and sweater were beige.  All in different shades, of course, as though that would add some variety to her color scheme.

When I got older my mom said to me, “You dress just like your grandmother except you’re all beige and white.” 

Since my grandmother was (and still is) one of the people I love most and care about I was flattered by this compliment (even though it wasn’t meant that way).

Once I began studying feng shui I started to notice something.  My friends, family and co-workers tended to wear colors that supported their Kua number.  Your Kua number in feng shui is like your zodiac sign in astrology.  Each one has it’s own characteristics, is based on your birthday and is supported by specific colors and elements.

It turns out that all those beige clothes my grandmother wears supports the earth energy of her Kua number. 

In my case the beige and white colors that used to dominate my closet (I’ve become more diverse now that I know more about the meaning of colors) also supported my Kua number.

So for kicks I thought you might like to know which colors support you so that you can get a good laugh if you’re closet and dresser are already filled with these colors.  And if not, you can add these colors to your wardrobe to support your personal feng shui.

The good news is that this month will be better than last month (not too hard to do given the difficult Star combinations we had in December).  Let’s see what possibilities lie ahead for January:

January 2011 Flying Star Feng Shui outlook

Let’s start with the good news, the Stars sitting in the Southeast are great for money and romance and since the Southeast represents finances this could mean that banks and other financial institutions report higher than expected profits for 2010.  It can also bring additional financial resources to you especially if the Southeast is your personal Success direction. 

Then we have the Stars in the South that create financial loss which counter the Stars in the Southeast.  However, these Stars can be controlled with your feng shui remedies so make sure to put them up.  From a practical standpoint it’s a good month to watch your spending.

This is also a good month to use your sense of humor, see funny movies or go to a comedy club because the Stars in the south are also known for bringing arguments and disagreement between people.   Laughter is good medicine for this.

The southwest is somewhat two-faced in January.  On the one hand it can bring an unexpected windfall.  On the other hand this windfall can be a result of some kind of unfortunate event like a car accident, loss of a loved one, etc.

The Flying Stars in the west can slow down cash flow to businesses that have a front door facing west.  It’s also likely that revenue will slow down for creative types like artists, authors and even people in the technology sector.  If you happen to be one of those people it’s a good month to take time off or plan for the coming year rather than launch a new product or service.

The center gua (square) contains some wonderful Stars that bring happiness and joy to your home and your relationship with a significant other.  Although these Stars are considered locked since they are boxed in by the other 8 directions of the bagua, activating the center area of your home with the feng shui for the month will help to bring out this energy so make sure to do that. (I will be posting the feng shui activations for January shortly.)

The east is going to be a bit problematic because we have what is called “double metal clash” between the Flying Stars here.  These Stars are also sitting in the east which is a wood element area.  Wood and metal clash in feng shui meaning we are likely to see a clashing of ideas, philosophies and rules between governments and citizens.  Citizens are likely to protest and demonstrate against changes to social programs, tax increases and other unpalatable legislation right now. 

The east is all about history and the past and it’s going to be hard for some people (both citizens and government officials) to let go of old ways that no longer work to make way for new ones.

In the northeast the Stars bring disagreement between mothers and sons as well as older women in the workplace and their younger counterparts or employees.  These Stars present the opportunity to listen rather than react.  If a confrontational situation or discussion does present itself this month and you feel that you or the other person is not ready to listen or react calmly then reschedule a time to meet after you and/or they have had a chance to calm down and collect their thoughts.

The January Flying Stars in the north have the same two-sided energy that the Stars have in the southwest but with a slightly different twist.  One of the Stars brings unexpected change and opportunity while the other one brings new relationships.

Some people may experience this Star combination in the form of landing a new job while others may find themselves receiving pink slips.  My feeling is that in general more people will be losing jobs this month than gaining and it is likely to come as a surprise to economists when the unemployment rate for January comes out in February/March. 

The Flying Stars in the north can also bring job related accidents so be even more careful if you work with heavy machinery or are in a dangerous line of work.

The final feng shui gua is the northwest and the Stars here are terrific for academics.  In fact, if you’ve been looking for someone to mentor, tutor or advise you in some way this is a great month to find that person.

If the northwest is your personal Success direction you could find that you land a new job this month or new clients if you own your own business.  If this IS your personal Success direction it’s a great month to enlist the help of a friend or group of friends to help you launch a new service, promote your business or get advice about ideas you have for a new product or service.

Stephen Griffiths the Crossbow Cannibal

You may have heard of him just recently.  Britain’s self-named ‘Crossbow Cannibal,’ Stephen Griffiths was finally arrested in May 2010 for the serial murders of three women in Bradford, England from 2009 until 2010.

What’s alarming and eerily fascinating about this guy is that he’s a psychology graduate and was a PhD student in criminology, which both deal with the nature and cause of human behavior.  It seems to me that his interest in these fields was an attempt at trying to understand his own demons.  Whether he does understand them or not we may never know but clearly he wasn’t able to gain control of them.

Stephens was finally caught for his horrible crimes after a closed circuit video in his apartment building taped him dragging his third victim to his room and then waving his crossbow in front of the camera after shooting his victim in the head with an arrow.  Apparently, this is how all three of his victims died.

Griffiths was arrested in May 2010, three days after his third victim was reported missing and was found guilty in court on Decemberr 21 this year after confessing to all three crimes.

The police had been watching Stephen Griffiths for a couple of years after he mentioned being obsessed with mass murder to an officer a few years ago.  But Griffiths never did anything following that comment to result in an arrest according to UK police.

So why did Griffiths start his killing spree in 2009?  Well, his Flying Stars hold clues to this.

Stephen Griffiths had two Stars that created big changes for him that year: the Disaster Star and the Violence Star.  The Disaster Star sitting on his Success direction made it easier for him to decide to start his new career as a serial murderer since he was pre-disposed to these thoughts.

And the Violence Star on his Relationship direction was a sign that either he would be a victim of violence or that he would be the the one bringing violent behavior to one or more of his relationships. 

Since the women he killed were prostitutes and not actual friends of his you may be wondering if his interaction with these women could really be considered a relationship at all.  In feng shui relationships are about people coming together whether they are strangers, relatives or good friends so the level of connection is not relevant to the Flying Stars.

In the end the timing of the Disaster and Violence Stars made it very easy for Griffiths to begin killing women in 2009 just as his Flying Stars in 2010 helped him get caught.

This year the Relationship Star has been sitting in Griffiths’ Success direction meaning it is easy for him to connect with people through his work.   In his profession as a serial killer this Star brings energy that would have made it easier for him to bring his two additional victims back to his apartment and shoot them in the head.

And because this Star makes you want to connect with people it’s no wonder that he flaunted his crime in front of the camera in the hallway of his building.  He wanted others to see what he was doing and to connect with the world in this very disturbing way.

But what he may not have bargained for was the Windfall Star on his Relationship direction.  This Star brings opportunities to you out of the blue and stumbling upon his victims earlier this year may have been just that for Griffiths.  But this Star is also represents the police and given his criminal background having the Windfall Star on his Relationship direction meant it would be much easier for him to get arrested this year. 

Since the Windfall Star is mainly associated with good fortune and opportunities landing in your lap from out of the blue it would seem that this Star didn’t work for Griffiths the way it was supposed to.  But I think it did exactly what he wanted it to do.  I think that because he was not able to control his mental illness that the only solution he could see was having someone else bring his nightmare to an end. 

He got his wish.

Jim Toth and Reese Witherspoon (photo by Ramey)

Today I read that Reese Witherspoon is engaged to be married to a talent agent named Jim Toth.  This will be Reese’s second marriage after divorcing her husband Ryan Phillippe back in 2008.

It’s a great year for Reese to get engaged but I hope she decides to elope in January because when the Flying Stars change into their new positions for 2011 in February she’s going to have a terrible Star on her Relationship direction.

This year Reese has had the Relationship Star on her Relationship direction.  This Star makes it easier to connect with people, make friends and find a new love so it’s no wonder that she met her now husband-to-be in 2010.  Although this Star doesn’t guarantee you’ll meet the man or woman of your dreams, it does make it a lot easier because it brings a ‘coming together’ energy with it.

However, 2011 the Flying Stars change and the Conflict Star will be sitting on  Witherspoon’s Relationship direction instead.  The Conflict Star is not one you typically want to get married under because it brings arguments, disagreements and even jealousy.  Since this Star is going to be on her Relationship direction it means that her relationships with others (friends, directors, family, and her fiance) are going to be more contentious.   Although planning a wedding is always stressful and can make people disagreeable, especially the bride, the Conflict Star will amplify that energy and make it worse. 

If Reese and Jim do get married in 2011 it’s likely to be a bit of a challenging year.  They’ll need to remember that laughter is the best medicine because humor is a good antidote for this Star. 

I’m hoping they wait until 2013 to get married when both Witherspoon and Toth will have better Stars on their Relationship directions.  But hey, no one is asking me….

Hugh Hefner and fiance Crystal Harris

In case you haven’t heard Playboy founder Hugh Hefner got engaged this weekend to 24 year-old Crystal Harris.  This will be Hefner’s third marriage and at the age of 84, probably his last.

I was curious which Flying Stars Hefner had on his Relationship direction this month because this is the direction that indicates marriage and partnerships. 

Interestingly enough, he has the Fame Star on his Relationship direction this year meaning his personal relationships were going to be in the spotlight for 2010.  It turns out that the Fame Star was right because this year his divorce from his second wife, Kimberley Conrad, became final followed by his engagment over Christmas weekend to his wife-to-be.

This is kind of an odd month to get engaged though because he has the Illness Star on his Relationship direction for December.  The Illness Star in this location means that he may have had second thoughts about whether to propose or experienced some kind of mental stress about the decision.

The Illness Star can also represent two people coming together but usually one of the partners feels stressed about the relationship.

Crystal, who is a former Playmate, has had the Conflict Star on her Relationship direction all year meaning that her relationship with Hugh and possibly other people in her life have not been easy this year.  The Conflict Star in this position brings arguments, disagreements and even jealousy.  I would be surprised if her relationship with Hefner has been jealousy or conflict free.

Next year she has the Illness Star on her Relationship direction indicating her relationships are going to cause her some mental anguish and feel like a lot of work.  Certainly, planning a wedding can be stressful so feeling this way is quite normal. 

Hugh Hefner, on the other hand, will have the Abundance Star on his Relationship direction meaning that it’s a good year for him to get married.  And since the Abundance Star brings with it long-term success this will likely be Hefner’s final marriage though my guess is that this is because she will outlive him rather than due to being madly in love which is no surprise given his age.

In any case, you’ve got to give the Hef credit.  How many other 84 year-old men could pull off an engagement to a gorgeous woman 60 years their junior?

Anyway, I got so excited about what’s coming up for her that I posted a comment on Facebook saying I wish I could be a fly on her wall this year to see how it all unfolds because it’s all so positive.  Someone else responded and asked if I was talking about them. 

 Well, I wasn’t but as it turns out this other person has the same Kua (pronounced kwah) number as my client in Arizona. 

A Kua number in feng shui is like your sign in astrology.  And like your astrological sign your Kua number is based on your birthday.

So for those of you interested in knowing what your Kua number is I thought I’d post a chart for you here: Kua numbers 1210

Kua numbers 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are in for a surprisingly good year.  Much better than 2010 for sure.

Kua number 1, 3, 4 and 9 may find 2011 to be mixed.  Some will go through unexpected changes, others may find they work harder than last year, while the rest experience an unexpected winfall or learn how to maximize their listening skills and sense of humor.

Flying Star activations and remedies for December 2010

Southeast – Place a bowl of water with sea salt here to reduce the energy of the double Robbery Star.  If you have a fireplace in the southeast area of your home try not to use it this month because fire stimulates the Robbery Star’s energy. 

South – Hang a six rod metal wind chime (24″ long or longer) in the south area of your home to lift the energy of the Disaster Star.  If your front door is in the south use another door to enter and leave your home this month if possible.

Southwest – Place a bowl of water with sea salt here.

West – Place a red laughing Buddha or a laughing Buddha on a red cloth here to reduce the energy of the Conflict Star.

Center – Place a fountain here.

East – Place an amethyst crystal or a gemstone tree here.

Northeast – Place a green plant or 4 bamboo stalks in a vase of water.

North – Place a metal bowl or a small metal chime here.

Northwest – Hang an 18″ to 24″ long six rod metal wind chime here.

Hanukah begins at sundown tomorrow which means you’ll be lighting your menorah if you celebrate this holiday.  If you follow Compass Feng Shui you may think that the south would be an ideal spot to place your menorah this year because the south represents Fame and Recognition in feng shui and is activated by fire. 

But Flying Star Feng Shui is much more dynamic than Compass Feng Shui and because of this you could end up creating problems for yourself.  That’s because the two Stars that sit in the south are the Conflict (wood) and Disaster (earth) Stars are stimulated by fire.  That means if you put your menorah in the south area of your home you could create conflicts that lead to big problems.  Not fun.

Instead, put your menorah in the west room of your home this year.  This month the Career (water) and Conflict (wood) Stars sit in the west.  Fire reduces the energy of the Conflict Star which means you can help reduce arguments and disagreements at home (or at work) by putting your menorah in the west this Hanukah.

If you celebrate Christmas you can put your tree in the west because the shape of the tree and the lights on the tree both represent fire energy.  So putting the Christmas tree in the west area of your home (and/or office) is good for reducing conflict energy this month.

You can also put your Christmas tree  or menorah in the east to support the Windfall Star that sits there this month.   Since the east represents Family the Windfall Star can bring an unexpected opportunity or financial windfall (like a refund or bonus) this month.  The east is also wood energy in feng shui so the tree supports this Family area nicely too.   If you put a menorah here use a wooden one if possible.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if the astrologers are right because there is so much going on all at once feng shui-wise that I almost don’t know where to begin.  So let’s just dive in and see what possibilities lie ahead for December 7, 2010 through Jan. 5, 2011.

Let’s start with the number one question on everyone’s mind.  When will the economy improve and when will I see my finances improve?  Unfortunately it won’t be in December.  One of the biggest clues to the bad news coming this month is that two of the best Flying Stars are locked in the center gua for all of December.  Essentially, this means they’re imprisoned and since their combination creates family harmony, joy and wealth it means it’s going to be a lot harder for us to experience joy, family harmony and wealth this month.  Not impossible, but you’re going to have to do a lot of positive thinking and holding your tongue to gain the upper hand.

I will say that it’s a terrible month to get married or start a business so if you’re planning either one hold off until the Stars are more favorable.  Here’s what the Stars have to say about December:

It’s going to be a doozy of a month for wealth that’s for sure because a double Robbery Stars sits on finances and banking.  This means that there’s an excellent chance that more banks will go under, more people will lose their jobs and that the stock market will take a dive. 

Since the southeast area of the feng shui bagua covers farming and restaurants we could also see problems arise related to these sectors as well.  We could see more farms losing money, the price of produce and groceries jumping higher than anyone expected, and more restaurants going out of business or seeing sharp declines in revenue.  On the upside, if you’re a consumer you may find that restaurant owners offer great coupons or deals to get you to come eat at their establishments.

It’s also a bad time financially for celebrities and other famous people.  I know, I know, boo hoo.  We could hear about our favorite basketball player filing for bankruptcy or a celebrity idol we all adore having a gambling problem.  The Flying Stars sitting in the Fame area can also mean that someone famous in your field turns out to be in financial trouble of some kind. 

And then there is the area of relationships which is represented by the southwest.  Sigh, this is another heavy area this month.  Expect relationship problems to escalate this month.  If you have been holding back any resentments, any opinions you have about your partner because of how they might feel or react well, let me just say that this month you may end up letting it all out even if you don’t want to.  The energy for arguments is really strong this month.  It’s also a month where hidden problems with drug abuse or drug use could come to light.

Let’s move on to families and government.  This is the one bright spot in the month and it could mean that the Congress and President decided to extend the Bush era tax cuts giving small business owners a continued break during a time when many of them desperately need it.  We may even see an uptick in the real estate market this month.

The Flying Stars sitting in the west for December indicate financial loss for the technology sector which means that Christmas sales are likely to be lower than expected.  Another sector that may feel the financial pinch are those that cater to children like private schools, daycare centers and after school programs for children.  If you’re an artist or writer this is not the month to launch an art opening or a new book. 

Are you spending the holidays with your family or your in-laws?  Don’t be surprised if you (if you’re a female) and your,daughter-in-law, mother and/or mother-in-law find more to disagree on than usual.  Even if you normally get along the Flying Stars here could create friction over little things like whether there are enough tomatoes in the salad or whether to serve two desserts or one.  All of this bickering between women lies in the area of wisdom meaning one woman or both are going to feel like their ideas are being challenged.    

A good solution is to make sure you a) keep your visit short, b) make sure you have a car so you can escape if you feel you need to and/or c) go outside and walk it off. 

The challenge with these Stars is that they’re arriving during Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s which tend to be stressful for most people anyway.  Just do your best to smile and keep the peace if you can.

The north, which is tied to career, has Flying Stars that may make you feel intimidated by someone at work or someone you work with like a client or vendor.  Alternatively you could be the one doing the intimidating at work.  The problem here is that all this intimidation could create financial problems in the sense that some companies may bully people into working for less in order to keep their jobs, to take on additional responsibility for less pay, or even cut payroll benefits for 2011.  Like I said, December is going to be a roller coaster for many people.

And the final challenge comes from the northwest where the Flying Stars create more financial problems.  This area is tied to flying.  It would not be surprising to find that one or two airlines announce financial losses for the month or even look to merge with another airline in order to stay in business.  If your bedroom is in the northwest you are more likely to catch a cold, flu or other illness this month.  If you have ongoing health issues be sure not to sleep in the northwest room of your home until January.

So how’s that for a major bummer?  I wish I had better news but the Flying Stars are just not cooperating for us as we exit 2010.  The good news is that the Stars for 2010 were, in all honesty, pretty bad given their locations for the year and we’re almost out of their energy.  Starting February 4, 2011 the Flying Stars will move to new directions and this intense pressure we have been feeling will begin to subside. 

The year 2011 will be the year families and government have a tremendous opportunity to transform things for the better.   The Flying Stars will be much more supportive in this endeavor, too, should we choose to take advantage of them.

Below is the Flying Star Feng Shui outlook for the coming month.

November Flying Star Feng Shui outlook

Here is the outlook in more detail by direction:

Northeast – This month the Illness Star and the Disaster Star sit together in the area of feng shui that’s tied to Wisdom and Education.  This means we could see more news about cuts to education, lack of funds for scholarships, teacher strikes popping up and even school closures (elementary, middle, high school and colleges) all because of the energy of these Stars. 

If your bedroom is in the Northeast area of your home you’re more prone to catching whatever bug is floating around the office or at school (if you’re a student).  Be sure to use your feng shui activations/remedies here.  If you have a serious illness or are pregnant it’s best to find another room to sleep in this month.

North – The energy of the Flying Stars sitting in the north create a perfect scenario for an affair.  It’s also very likely that if you’re having an affair with someone at the office you’re going to get caught and there’s an excellent chance your spouse is going to want a divorce.  Since reconcilliation isn’t in the Stars right now you’d better be sure what you’re doing is worth it.

Northwest – This area is susceptible to accidental fires so if your kitchen is in the NW area of your home double check to make sure you’ve turned off the stove, coffee pot and other appliances after you’ve used them.  If your bathroom is here be sure to unplug the curling iron and hair dryer before going to work or school.  On the upside it’s possible you could get a bonus or raise from your boss or a financial windfall from someone you look to as a mentor.

East – This area is challenging for families and government because the two Flying Stars sitting here like to create conflict.  Don’t be surprised if you hear about election lawsuits (even though the elections take place before these Stars get together) and government gridlock in some places because of the election results on November 2nd. 

Families are more prone to disagreements this month, especially those families with young men.  If you have a son he may be disagreeable this month even if he’s normally not that way.  It’s just the Stars making waves and things will be better next month.

Center – The Star combination here can be good for real estate but it just doesn’t feel beneficial right now.  My outlook is that the real estate markets will continue to be weak in general and cash flow in this area will be anemic.

West – Well, finally!  A direction with some good Stars in it.  This is a fabulous area for academic success and creativity.   Have your children study in the west area of your home this month if possible.  If not, have them sit so they’re facing west when they do their homework. 

If you’re an artist (writer, painter, musician, sculptor, etc.) the west is a great area of your home/studio to get really creative and produce some amazing work.  You will very likely surprise yourself!

Southwest -  The Flying Stars in the SW are likely to create real estate gridlock.  We know about the foreclosure paperwork problems but more information is likely to come out about just how bad it is and how the reach of the problem extends into other areas no one had considered or wanted to talk about yet.  Do not buy a home right now and don’t sign any real estate contracts.  You are very likely to regret it.

South -  Teenagers are more likely to have accidents this month due to the Stars in the south.   If you have a teenager at home make sure they buckle up in the car, wear protective gear when riding bikes, skateboards, roller blades, etc.  A little safety can make the difference.

Southeast – This is another good area this month.  In fact if you’ve been thinking about taking a romantic weekend away this is a great month to do it.  Travel and romance are in the Stars this month!

Raymond Chase

September was a tragic month for five young men.  All were teenagers who were bullied by classmates for being homosexual:
–Raymond Chase, a 19 year old culinary student at Johnson & Wales
–Billy Lucas, a 15 year old high school freshman from Indiana
–Seth Walsh, age 13 from California
– Asher Brown, age 13 of Cypress, TX

And finally, the most recognized name of all, Tyler Clementi, an 18 year old freshman attending Rutgers University.

Why did so many young men take their lives this month?  A better question may be why did they take their lives at all. 

The most obvious answer would seem to be that they just couldn’t take the harrassment any longer and decided it was too much to bear.  But why did they pick September to end it all?  Well, because the feng shui Flying Stars were ideal for these young men who felt they could no longer go on.

Here’s what I mean.  In September, the Flying Stars sitting in the south created a combination that is believed to stimulate homosexuality.  These Stars also happen to create problems for young men, so the combination of Stars created the perfect negative environment for escalating hateful acts and behavior towards these boys.

In feng shui the south happens to represent Fame and Recognition and the result was that the Flying Stars that put  the boys’ homosexuality in the spotlight for everyone in their schools to see.   In essence, they became even bigger targets for the bullies than normal. 

Because of this it’s not surprising that the video encounter of Tyler Clementi and his friend landed on the internet.  The Flying Stars made it easy for this to happen in September.

In fact, it’s no surprise that all five of these boys ended up gaining worldwide fame this past month.  What is surprising is that these children had to endure being bullied at all.   My heart goes out to them and their families.

I heard a lot of business owners lamenting that September was their worst month financially in years.  One business owner said the last time his monthly revenue was so low was 12 years ago when he started his business.  Another guy said his business was down over 80 percent last month. 

Disappointing but not surprising given the difficult feng shui.

So what about October?  Do things look any better? 

The answer is YES!

Here is the October outlook for each direction.  Remember, the new Flying Star month begins on October 8th:

Southeast – This direction represents wealth and this month the Flying Stars are not favorable for investing so hold off on starting a new business.  If you do go ahead you will probably find yourself working hard and losing money in spite of your efforts.  This month disagreements between mother-in-laws and daughter-in-laws is more likely too.

South -  Try to avoid anything that could trigger a lawsuit this month.  This isn’t usually a problem for most people.  If you’ve been waiting for a court date for a lawsuit you’re involved in you’re very likely to hear news about it between now and early November.  

Southwest -  This direction has Flying Stars that are somewhat two-faced this month.  On the one hand, the Stars sitting hear could create big problems in partnerships and marriages to the point of being disasterous.  On the other hand, these Stars also create the opportunity for very positive change in partnerships and marriages too, though the process may be challenging. 

West -  If you have children you may find that they’re more prone to accidents or even picking up colds and the flu this month.  Just make sure they wash their hands before eating, buckle up in the car and wear the right gear when they’ re playing sports.

Center – This area is difficult for young boys so if your son’s room is in the center of your home you may want to have them sleep in another room this month.  If you have a bedroom in the East that would be the ideal spot.

East – Hurray!  This direction, which represents family, finally has some favorable Flying Stars.  It would not be surprising to see some kind of unexpected national tax relief passed (even though Congress says they’re not voting til after the election).   If you’re looking for a job or someone in your family is looking for a job one could very easily land in your lap or their lap in October.   It’s also possible to get money out of the blue like from an unexpected refund, a gift or even a loan.

Northeast – This area is good for making money in real estate, landscaping, and other earth based businesses.  If your house is for sale put your listing documents here this month.

North – The Flying Star combination here is known for creating marital stress and if you find this to be true for you it’s likely to be over career or job matters.  On the flip side, this is another area that can be beneficial for real estate.

Northwest -  This month it’s possible to get some advice from a mentor who is famous in their particular field.  It’s also a great month to make new friends and network with others.  Put your Rolodex or personal address book here.

Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville, Florida

Pastor Terry Jones made international headlines when his church in Gainesville, FL announced it would burn the Quran on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 to mark the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.  Why anyone gave this guy the time of day is beyond me. 

As a teenager growing up in Oklahoma I was stunned to find my friends’ churches holding book burnings and record burnings on a regular basis and recruiting school children to participate.  This was in the 1980s, not the 1950s.  As outrageous as I found this it certainly never made the news and I’m sure it still goes on today without CBS, NBC, ABC or FOX saying a word about it.

Anyway, somehow a church of 50 lunatics and their even crazier pastor were able to accomplish something churches with much larger congregations in the Midwest have not.  You have to give the guy credit for his PR skills if nothing else.

Besides the fact that the reasoning for the Quran burning was to commemorate the 9/11 attacks Iwondered if the Feng Shui Flying Stars had anything to say about this event.

They did.

This month the two Flying Stars that sit in the area of Religion on the Feng Shui bagua are the Illness and Violence Stars.  When these two come together they run the risk of creating a fire. 

As it turns out these two Stars not only sit in the area of Religion this month but also the area for books so it’s not really surprising that the burning of religious books would come up this month. 

We may even see fires break out in religious buildings like temples, churches, synagogues, etc.  These fires could be due to arson, electrical problems, lightening or other causes but since the Violence Star is on religion the odds are more likely that fires will be started due to criminal behavior rather than mother nature or accidents.

Because of the fire energy created by the Illness and Violence Stars in September don’t be surprised if Pator Terry Jones changes his mind and holds his Quran burning after all.   If he doesn’t you can be sure some other church will.

Now that I’ve been studying and doing feng shui for six years my desire to share everything I know has waned partially because after all this time I realize that people in the U.S. really don’t ‘get’ feng shui.  Most think it’s about decorating your home and are not interested in hearing about energy flow and elements.  They just want to know what color couch to get for the living room.

The other reason my need to wax on endlessly has subsided is that there is simply some information that is beyond mental comprehension.  Unless you have experienced certain things the feng shui explanations don’t make sense.  They sound way too ‘woo woo’ and leave people looking uncomfortably at their watch as they come up with reasons to make a quick getaway.

What I have discovered, though, is that if you give people the chance to experience the ‘woo woo’ sounding feng shui ideas and strategies it’s not weird anymore.  In fact, it’s quite transformational.

With that in mind I decided to post a ‘woo woo’ strategy I learned from my Feng Shui Master, Marie Diamond, who I still study with to this day.  It’s all about color, but not in the way you think.  It’s about sending color to others.

Last year a chiropractor called me to his office to help him with his feng shui.  I had already created a plan for him about six months earlier and his business was up.  He really called me back for a ‘tune up’ because they had moved some things around and done some remodeling since I had last been in.

As I walked the chiropractor through the office mentioning feng shui changes (there weren’t many to make) we ended up at the front door.  The chiropractor looked out and pointed to a man sitting on a bench about 12 feet from his office. 

 ”See that guy?” he asked.  “He’s there all the time.  He’s a drunk and one time he came in and passed out here on the reception room floor,” he said pointing to the tile.

“I’ve complained to the property manager and have had him removed from the property.  Is there any feng shui to get rid of him?”

“Actually there is,” I said.  “I want you to imagine sending the man on the bench rose red light.  All you’re doing is sending this light from you to him.   You don’t need to attach any emotion to it and don’t force him to accept it.  Just send him the rose red light and in your mind let him know it’s there for him when he’s ready to accept it.” 

I then told the chiropractor that the rose red light is the energy of unconditional love.  That made him frown so I reminded him he wasn’t attaching emotion to the light and that I wasn’t asking him to love this guy unconditionally, just to send him the light and that’s it.

The chiropractor closed his eyes for about 30 seconds and did it, though reluctantly.  When he opened his eyes I told him to do this every time he saw the homeless man on the bench. 

As I was talking the chiropractor said, “Hey, look.  He’s gone!  That guy is never gone.  I can’t ever remember not seeing him there.”

Then he looked at me with wide eyed disbelief. 

I just smiled. 

Try this whenever you’re feeling angry, disappointed or upset with someone.  It works wonders.

September 2010 Flying Star outlook

 Let’s take a closer look at the possibilities September has in store by direction:

Southeast – The southeast is the area that represents wealth and this month’s Flying Stars create financial loss so it is possible that you could have expenses that exeed your income, that you lose your wallet or that you pay too much for something and aren’t able to return it or get a refund.  There is also a small chance that robbery could occur but I find that this is rare.  If you’re front door is in the southeast or faces southeast use another door to come and go from your home this month.

South – This area represents fame and recognition.  Since the Flying Star energy creates difficulties for young children you could find that your child doesn’t get the recognition he or she thinks they deserve, that they get passed over for an award or that they lose a game or competition they were sure they would win.

Southwest – This area represents marriage and partnerships and this month’s Flying Stars increase the odds of food related illness.  So if you’re going out on a date with your partner you may want to be careful about what you eat.  Throw away leftovers in the refrigerator and expired foods too just to be on the safe side.  Women are more prone to food related illness then men at this time.

East – If the east is your personal Career direction (which is based on your birthday) and you’re looking for a job you may find that things don’t go your way this month due to the road blocks the Flying Stars have on money and career.  It’s also possible that any funding legislation up for a vote in Congress won’t get passed or will be delayed until better Stars fly in this area.  Unemployment figures are very likely to rise this month nationwide.

Northeast – This area is prone to fire related accidents so be sure to put out any candles that are lit in the northeast before you leave the house or go to bed at night.   It’s also an area prone to bickering among women so if your office at work is in the northeast area of the building and you’re a female be sure to hold meetings in another room this month.  The north would be ideal for that.

North – This area represents Career in feng shui and the Stars are actually double edged this month.  On one hand  fire related accidents are possible.  On the other hand you could find that you achieve some kind of recognition or award from your peers.  This is a great month to attend networking events whether you have a job or are looking for a job.  If the north is your personal Career direction this should be a good month for you at work especially if you’re a man.

Northwest – Whatever you do don’t act on any investment advice you get this month because it’s very likely you’ll lose money if you do.  If you like to play the lottery or gamble odds are even higher than usual that you’ll lose your money so if you absolutely must give your money away give it to your credit card company or mortgage lender.  This is not the month to set up a new IRA, meet with a financial planner or implement new financial strategies.

West – This area is associated with Children and Creativity.  With such a good Flying Star combination the west is a terrific area of your home for your school aged child to study.  If this area isn’t available have them face west when doing homework or studying for tests this month. 

Center – If your family room or kitchen are in the middle of your home, avoid discussing emotionally charged topics here this month with your partner because it could lead to further conflict rather than successful resolution.  On a positive note this area is terrific for real estate right now so if you’re a realtor try to make phone calls and answer e-mails from the center area of your company office or from the center of your home.

Ellen DeGeneres

Yesterday Ellen DeGeneres formally announced she would be leaving the show American Idol after just one season as a judge there.  Ellen joined the show in September 2009.

When I heard this I knew it was because of her Flying Star Feng Shui this year that this was happening because last year her Flying Stars indicated this position would be short lived.

Here’s what I mean.

Everyone has what we call four ‘personal’ directions in feng shui: Success, Health, Relationships and Wisdom.  Every year each of these directions has a different Flying Star that sits there and these Stars give clues about what opportunities and/or challenges are likely to present themselves in your life for the year. 

In 2009 Ellen DeGeneres had the Windfall Star on her Success direction and the Illness Star on her Relationship direction.  She also had the Conflict Star on her Wisdom direction.

So what does this all mean?  It means that an opportunity would come out of the blue that was related to her career (which is the job as a judge on American Idol) but that she would not be sure that taking the job would be a good idea because of the Conflict Star on her Wisdom which represents your judgement and decision making. 

On top of this the job would require a lot of hard work (the Illness Star) and could even create mental, emotional or physical stress for her which, it turns out, it did because she said she didn’t like having to say negative things to the contestants about their performances and gave this as one of the reasons for leaving American Idol.

This year she decided to leave the show but couldn’t make the announcement publicly until now and the Flying Star Feng Shui supports this decision too.

In 2010 Ellen has the Transformation Star sitting on her Success direction indicating a big change in her career or some aspect of her work.  Many times when people have this Star on their Success direction they either quit a job, get fired or start a new job.  In this case Ellen DeGeneres is quitting her job as a judge on American Idol.

Her Wisdom direction has the Illness Star on it this year indicating that she didn’t come to this decision lightly.  That’s because the Illness Star in this position requires you to think hard about changing your mind or coming up with new plans.

In addition to all this DeGeneres has the Star of New Beginnings on her Relationship direction so it’s likely that she’ll be making new friends or connecting with new people in her business or a new business she creates.  When I saw this I did some digging around and discovered she launched her own record label this spring which fits right into her personal feng shui this year.

I never get tired of looking at this because it’s so interesting to me.
