Morning everyone! (A) Topic of the Day: YouTube First of all, I want to campaign a tiny snippet of c

Morning everyone!

(A) Topic of the Day: YouTube

First of all, I want to campaign a tiny snippet of code.

&fmt=6

Remember this code naow!!

Add this onto any YouTube Video you’re watching and you will get an awesome quality boost. Videos buffered just as well on my 1MB Connection, and best of all, the videos don’t look as awful as usual, and the Sound is MUCH better!

I do believe some videos show a “View in High Quality” link, but not all, so keep this taglet in mind.

What benefits from this most is definitely Music Videos. From an Anime Perspective that would mean Opening and Ending tracks

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about, I upload my videos at at round 4xx~ Resolution in 4:3 Aspect so the Widescreen-ness of the Videos I upload doesn’t get stretched to utter crapness. However, my latest videos are in 7xx~ Resolution, but gets just as much affected by the YouTube Quality Rape™

Here is “Marionette”, Ending 2 from Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, in Standard and High Quality. Tell me if you notice the Higher Quality one takes too long to buffer.

Standard:

Superior (just the &fmt=6):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kijcfouMjNQ&fmt=6

[Seems like YouTube Embedding doesn't allow Superior Quality, or the WordPress Code needs updating damnit!!]

Much better eh? Well the point I’m getting at, and the point I’ve proved, is to add…

&fmt=6

… whenever you get a crappy video – because its that much better. Horrah!

Moving on… it seems YouTube have rolled out that player they’ve had for Public Beta Testing, (see it up there? of course not, they haven’t rolled it out for embedding, or the WordPress Code needs updating) so what’s so special about it?

This is Earth – Itoshiki Nozumu – Musical Interlude from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Aaaaaaaas you can see, it looks much better than that grayish chunky & clunky look, there are probably a few things that make it work better too.

Also, ……. oh no, I’m not omitting anything here, there’s just nothing more to talk about Look at my Update below!

Remember that video bar scrolled at the bottom of a finished video? Looks like its been canned, theres maybe something wrong with my Video nothing wrong with my video.. :p

I liked that browser bar :/

I suppose we’ll have to work with the YouTube Feature in PicLens for similar functionality!

Oh well… yet another Eye Candy Upgrade with a loss of a feature -_-”

Update: I have found something!

It seems that the new player has indeed been much more refined. I have an Internet Connection that goes off very often, when watching a YouTube Video, getting to the point I want to see was a hassle and never worked right. The irony of the fact I was watching a Google Android Demonstration when I found out that I can go to any point of the video and start buffering from that point again was killing me. The service was in dire need of this fix, and now we’ve got it! *claps*

~ Senseito
