Press Release: East Haddam, CT – November 16th, 2009.

Approximately 12 young horses slated for either destruction or human consumption overseas will find sanctuary at Ray of Light Farm, an animal rescue and animal-assisted therapy facility in East Haddam. Seven of the rescues are foals, less than six months of age. The remaining five are yearlings from a slaughter-bound feed lot.

Ray of Light has partnered with Equine Angels Rescue Sanctuary (EARS) in this effort. Among thousands of unwanted “Premarin” foals across the country that are a by-product of Premarin* (an estrogen replacement therapy) production, these foals are lucky to find a home.

World-renowned Equine Specialist Anna Twinney will be joining us at Ray of Light Farm for several days, from December 5th – 14th, dedicating her time to facilitate the gentling process. The entire process will be filmed for a DVD on Foal Gentling and Handling to be released in 2010. The event is also open for public viewing. A small donation is requested that will go towards caring for the foals. The intention is to educate people about the little known and often confusing topic of foal gentling and training, with a concentration on the interaction between horse and human.

Great care will be taken at every turn to ensure the well being of the horses, and the training will help to ensure the successful adoption of the foals.

In both 2007 and 2008, Ray of Light Farm partnered with Equine Angels Rescue Sanctuary to rescue Premarin foals. Media coverage was instrumental to the successful adoption of many foals into loving homes.

Fortunate Foals
According to The Humane Society of the United States, prospects for PMU foals are not good: “Foals are allowed to nurse and be with their mothers for only three to four months-instead of the normal six-month period. When the time comes for the mares to return to the collection barns, the farmers dispose of surplus foals. A few female foals may be kept for future PMU production, and some farmers even breed registered horses in hopes of selling the foals as riding prospects. Thousands of remaining foals are sent to unsheltered feedlots until they reach a desirable market weight. There they are slaughtered and their carcasses shipped to Europe and Asia for human consumption.” (http://www.hsus.org/horses_equines/issues/the_facts_about_premarin.html).

Bonnie Buongiorne, Ray of Light’s founder, is grateful for a third opportunity to help: “Times are tough right now, but with the help of many, we’ll find a way to help these horses.”

About Ray of Light

About Premarin
*Premarin® is a conjugated estrogen product extracted from pregnant mares’ urine (PMU). It is manufactured by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories, Inc., and is most commonly prescribed for estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) to relieve hormonal deficiency symptoms associated with menopause or hysterectomy. More recently, it has been prescribed to help prevent osteoporosis and heart disease. Premarin® is the most widely used ERT drug, marketed for more than 50 years, and currently administered to more than nine million American women.
I reached the bottom of the stairs, my heart pounding like a thump of bass coming through the wall.

I reached the bottom of the stairs, my heart pounding like a thump of bass coming through the wall. I felt naked – I had no sword, none of the familiar weight of a rig against my shoulders. Crimson silk mouthed the floor as I moved, cold waxed wood and and the grit of dust against my bare tender human feet.
- You look beautiful.
He leaned against the wall between two windows, his face in shadow except for the bright points of light in his blue eyes. A stray of breeze touched a sheaf of wheat-gold hair, and my mouth turned dry and slick as desert glass.
Jace Monroe hooked his thumbs in his belt. He wasn’t armed either. Hey, Danny. Spare a kiss for an old boyfriend?
I’m dreaming, I thought. Dreaming. Have to be.
- Of course, you are not dreaming.
A wash of amusement, bitter spice of regret, a thin thread of desire blooming through and sparkling like an iron wire to hold it all together. Under it, the smell of peppered honey that was Jace’s magic, the smell of a Shaman, the smell I’d missed without knowing.
He moved foraward into the dim light. Don’t think much of the choice of venues, sunshine. Never did have you pegged as a romantic.
Another shock. He was the young Jace of the days of our first affair, moving smoothly, his face smoother without the bitterness that had crept up and glazed over him like varnish. Even his haircut shouted it – shaggy, but obviously expensively trimmed. I’d forgotten that about him, forgotten the antique Bolgari chronoghraph he used to wear glittering over his datband. Forgotten the lopsided, charming smile he used to use on me, the one I’d fallen for.
He folded his arms. This has got to be the first time I’ve ever seen you speechless. Don’t talk too soon, I’m enjoying it…

I missed you like crazy, Jason Monroe.

Fictions – Double You

Power-pop trio Fictions manage to hit big with Double You. Clearly influenced by the likes of Biffy Clyro, the boys fail to produce the same well polished Biffy sound, but when it sounds this good, who cares.

The quirky guitar riffs, reminiscent of one-time indie types, The Young Knives and indie disco favourites Foals. Upbeat and danceable, Fictions bring indie power pop blend to the table and it ain’t half impressive.

Listen to if you like: Biffy Clyro, The Young Knives, Foals.

Also listen to: Hard way, Statue.

Vous me suivez?

Well, it’s not really Record cover appreciation day, I don’t know if it exists, but I love music. And I love buying cds. I like to have the actual physical album. And I love looking at them. Today I’d just like to post some great record covers. Here we go.

The only album released by the british mathrock band Foals, Antidotes. It’s kind of a simple cover. But I think it’s great. It’s quite strange in a subtle way, almost like the music. I discovered Foals when they were one of four opening acts for Blur in Hyde Park this summer. (One of the greatest days of my life) And they blew me away.

This is Hardcore by Pulp. This one is quite scary i think. It creeps me out just a little bit. And the title across the cover. “THIS IS HARDCORE” in pink. Yuck. I’ve almost just got this album as a birthday present from my girlfriend.

The Empyrean by John Frusciante (my favorite guitarist of all time! Best known as the guitarist of Red Hot Chili Peppers). Now this one is really fantastic. So imaginative and complex. I wish I had the vinyl. If I had I would listen to the album, and sit and stare at cover and look at all the details.

I really need to learn to post more regularly, I apologise once again. Hopefully I’ll get into the habit of it soon.

My idleness has given me a chance to stumble upon one of the best bands I’ve heard in a while, so it can’t be all bad. Irish act Two Door Cinema Club are currently on tour with the equally magnificent Delphic, but if you like your music less sensory abusive then the former definitely stand out.

With such a clarity of instrumentation and some really clever song writing they are a great live act. Like a slightly more dynamic, less pretentious Foals their clever riffs and intricacies are impressive. Vocalist Alex Trimble (I think it’s Alex, it doesn’t specify on their myspace, my apologies if not) has a voice full of such clarity and balance that it is hard to believe at first. Yet everything blends together so well and it is hard not to see these boys doing bigger things in the near future.

So here for your listening pleasure is “Do You Want It All?”. Enjoy

The Fixer, o primeiro single

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_d6Km3QJFc&feature=fvst

A verdade é que o acústico do Nirvana virou sinônimo do cover de “The Man Who Sold The World”, do Bowie. As versões de “Come as You Are” e “Something in the Way” são, talvez, melhores que as originais. A política “Plateau” continua verdadeira até hoje, e “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” ainda é uma das músicas mais soturnas já gravadas.

“Tell me where did you sleeeeeeeeeeeep last night”

Por enquanto é isso. Nos falamos de novo semana que vem. Até.

Modern + Folk = Oxymoron? Jonquil prove otherwise.

Yet another band hailing from Oxford is the progressive folk sextet Jonquil. Despite being part of the same group of friends as YOUM and Foals, Jonquil have swapped party rhythms and spiky math beats for flowing acoustic melodies and sea shanty sing-alongs. This does not mean that they have been left in some archaic alternate reality inhabited by people wearing thick woolen jumpers however. Early tracks from the band certainly expose their influence from their Oxford brethren and they are never afraid to combine samples with a squeezebox. Whistle Low the title track from the band’s first EP contains a repeated guitar riff that if played on a Stratocaster through a variety of pedals and switches as opposed to an acoustic guitar would not sound so out of place on a Foals album. The modern influences melded with classic techniques do not end here, their first album, Lions, is beautifully crafted combining very subtle modern electronic sounds and uses a technique of linking tracks together by sampling voices and other recordings which is reminiscent of classic Pink Floyd albums. These modern inorganic techniques are used very subtly in Jonquil’s music just to polish off and modernise the beautiful flowing melodies and sea shanty-esque sing-alongs created by their huge range of acoustic instruments and vocal styles. The music Jonquil create and the skill with which they play it makes it ideal for live performance and they have gained a reputation for cozy sing along gigs, this trait is epitomized by the title track from Lions. A track that runs at under two minutes but creates such an instantaneous atmosphere that you feel compelled to join in before you even know the words. This instant creation of atmosphere can be said for most tracks on the album but each creation is very individual, the haunting sound of Subtle Strains is another great example, this ability is a product of having six band members and a huge range of instruments and vocal styles to call on. One of their new compositions not on the album is Pillow Quest again creating an original more modern, driven style and direction for the band.

In short Jonquil are advancing at an extraordinary rate and are dragging ‘modern folk’ along with them, the advancements and changes they are making seems natural and subtle and don’t at any point make their songs or music inaccessible in any way. Anyone could put Lions on tomorrow and get something from it, they have such a great variety of sounds and feelings that it would be impossible not to.

Jonquil are currently “working hard to create the best album imaginable’ and are playing upcoming dates in London, Birmingham and Leeds.

IOHO recommends the tracks:

A band that have been called more names than Gordon Ramsay’s sous chef and have a sound for every one of them.

YOUM (as they will be referred to for the rest of this exhortation but previously known as Youthmovies, YMSS and Youth Movie Soundtrack Strategies) hail from the eternally effervescent town of Oxford. (I am unsure what happens to the river Thames as it flows through Oxford but someone should study the process and do the same to all British rivers potentially making the biggest contribution to music since Leo Fender’s father said to his wife, ‘shall we have an early night?’.) Over the past few years YOUM have gained a reputation for incendiary live performances and a continuously developing sound. To define the magnificent din they make under any one, two or a dozen genres would not only be impossible but would also be an injustice. To understand who they are or where they are going would be a similar feat, but fortunately for us all we only need to listen to one song to understand the brilliance of YOUM, ‘If you’d seen a battlefield’.

This song is to post rock/Post Hardcore/Math what Bohemian Rhapsody was to 80s pop or Paranoid Android was to 90’s progression. It runs at almost 8 minutes, each minute a song in itself, and each different to the last, it surfs so close to the possibility of becoming noise that you have to step back every so often and realise that it is everything but. This is helped in part by, Andrew Mears’ Albarn-esque voice creating a bridge between music as we know it and whatever astral plane this song came from. Incidentally Mears was the original singer for fellow Oxfordites Foals but gave up the position in the band to work with YOUM. Those of you lucky enough to have heard Foals’ original 7” release Look at My Furrows of Worry/Try This on your Piano with Mears’ as lead singer will have noticed that these tracks further bridge the gap between these two bands.

It is rare that a band is called ‘brave’ with any real justification but it is a perfect and commonly used adjective to describe YOUM. Where Foals could perhaps be accused of prettying up the scene to soften the blow for the larger market YOUM do anything but. You really get a sense that this band are really doing things for their own reasons and personal motivations and this has got to be where great music comes from.

Regardless of whether this band spend the rest of their lives sampling the mating calls of dust mites or selling Coca-Cola to orphans they have a warm bed made up for them in rock heaven purchased by ‘If you’d seen a battlefield’.

If you are a fan of Foals or similar and would like to further your knowledge of this exploding and fascinating scene or even if you have no idea what I’m talking about IOHO strongly recommends the album Good Nature by YouthMovies.

YOUM are currently recording new material for release in 2010

McCullough Peaks, one of my favorite places to visit while in Wyoming! My two young children, husband, and I have visited this Range several times since my first visit in 2004. My children, then aged 6 years and 9, both had a wonderful time -eventhough we were in the ‘middle of nowhere’ – they never have been ‘bored’ like kids often get after several hours. It is such a wonderful experience to take the next generation into the Wild Horse Ranges! My kids have even said they like it better than Yellowstone at times! WOW!

I am thankful that we have had the chance to visit, but I am so nervous & worried for the horses. Which ones will the BLM take away? Bridger my favorite?

Sadly, I cannot be there during the round-up. Before BLM released these round-ups, I had already booked these dates.

This round-up is unnecessary right now and its so sad that the BLM are removing 122 horses!

Whenever we visit, we are lucky if we see about 40-50 head.

Right now the BLM is the Wild Horses greatest enemy with these large round-ups.

Firefoal, come here now!” The tall sorrel mare whinnied into the night air. “Coming momma.” Whinnied back a small chesnut foal, wobbling out from behind a tree, it’s knees knocking together, making it hard to walk. “Still having trouble with walking?” Inquired the mare, nudging the foal’s side, almost knocking him over. “I’m fine momma, stop pushing!” Yipped the foal in suprise, jumping away, then falling over, because of how unstable he was on his newfound legs. “Still having, DIFFICULTIES, with your foal?” Out came a piebald mare from behind another tree, a sneer mounted upon her face. “Hello Duchess.” Replied the sorrel mare, lifting her head from sniffing her foal for injuries. Ignoring her, the piebald mare turned to another foal coming out of the trees. “Hello, my sweet.” She nickered softly, then turned back to the sorrel mare. “At least my foal is still alive.” She scoffed. “I don’t like you talking about me like that, mother.” Sniffled the tall piebald foal, “At least, not in the presence of THESE low-down horses.” Corrected his mother affectionately. “As I was saying,” She turned back to the sorrel, “That’s ENOUGH!!” A loud whinny split the air, shocking both of the mares into silence, but the foals stared bloody murder at each other, clearly unconcerned. At the same time, a regal-looking stallion strode into the clearing. “She started it!” Both of the mares whinnied at the same time. “I said, that’s ENOUGH!!!” Roared the stallion, tossing his raven-colored mane in agitation. “Sorry.” Muttered both of the mares, lowering their heads in shame.

The McCullough Peaks Herd in Wyoming, is going to be brought down to a non-viable number of horses b

The McCullough Peaks Herd in Wyoming, is going to be brought down to a non-viable number of horses beginning October 15, 2009. The BLM will be removing 122 horses!

These horses roam within an area of about 110,000 acres. It is easily accessible for visitors (with good roads), good watering holes, and it is along the Highway near Cody Wyoming. It was the first wild horse range that I visited, and is still one of my favorite places to visit and photograph ‘real wild horses’. It is an amazing area indeed.

This round-up is part of BLM’s Fiscal Year Plans (Oct 09 – Sept 10) to remove over 12,000 horses from public land in just 12 months – already starting NOW!

Roundup Schedule for 2009-2010

Folks, this is an unprecedented and devastating amount of horse removals in a year. When the bloodlines are gone, then they are forever gone. Some of those bloodlines are almost non-existant already.

By leaving less than 150 horses on any Range, the BLM is encouraging poor genetics and inbreeding.

To prepare for the 12,000+ horses and burros to be rounded up in this fiscal year (Oct 2009 – Sept. 2010), the BLM is now securing more long term holding pastures like this one in Montana.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has announced a plan to create seven new preserves — two federally owned and five privately owned — each to take about 3,600 horses and burros.

It is a dramatic change from previous warnings that slaughtering thousands of wild horses and burros now under federal control might be the only way out.

The real home for these horses is to be left in the wild. Give them back the 20 million acres of range taken away from them since 1971, and leave them in the current existing Ranges. The cruel mismanagement is only increasing, like a ripple effect.

The Seven new preserves that are planned would accommodate thousands of non-reproducing horses that have been captured and are corraled. The preserves’ size and exact sites have yet to be determined, and the entire program is subject to Congressional approval. A spokesman for Mr. Ken Salazar had no estimate of the total cost but put the expense of creating just the two preserves in the East and the Midwest alone at some $96 million.

Unlike the 180 barely existing public ranges, which are unmanned federal wild-horse areas in the American West, and on free public land, these new, staffed Preserves (will taxpayers pay their payrolls? would there be entrance fees?) would seek to draw visitors and promote environmental tourism. “We want to showcase the herds,” Salazar said.

WHAT?
Let me get this straight …

The BLM has never had a problem euthanizing healthy horses. There’s no love lost there, wild horses have always been pests.

The BLM spends $60,000 – $250,000 with each round-up costs, and processing … gelding the stallions, darting mares with the controversial pzp birth control drugs (messing with hormones/ birth cycles).

One of the BLM’s paid millionaire Helicopter Contractors is a convicted felon, and felon’s are not supposed to get jobs for the feds.

The amount of planned round-ups from free public land are increasing by leaps & bounds, even with today’s economy.

The BLM continues to fight hard against the public.

Because of costs and now overcrowding of captured horses, they may need to, sadly, according to them, … euthanize.

A new solution for them is to acquire new land for Wild Horse Preserves using millions upon millions of taxpayer’s money, to “SHOWCASE” the BLM horses for the public to easily see.

This is an obsurd idea to a problem that the BLM has created in the first place. More bad management skills.

Is a caged, once wild and never to be released, Bald Eagle at a zoo considered a Wild Eagle? NO! It’s a Bald Eagle looking at your camera, with a fence over its head!

Should a caged, once wild and never to be released, Wild Horse still be considered a Wild Horse? NO! It’s just a horse. They are not tame, but they are not wild either. They are lost.

When wild horses are captured and removed from their homes, they are sore, injured, desperate, and scared half-to-death. Families are split, they are man-handled, branded, gelded, darted with pzp drugs, vaccinated, trailered, shipped, and released into a strange place to be “showcased” ?

Why would the BLM now want to “showcase wild horses” when they are annihilating entire wild horse herds on Public Land?

The difference between the captured BLM horses at this point and a regular ol’ pastured family horse is that they haven’t been saddle-broken.

Sadly, the new planned Wild Horse Reserves will sound really good to many. But even with its several thousand good humane acres, it will still just be a survival ending of mankind’s prison.

Lost from their world
As a result of ‘man’, their greatest enemy, the ‘Showcased Lost Ones’ will have nothing left to really live for…
no pride
no true freedom
no families to find
no families to fight for
no social ties & hierarchy
no children to nurse, to raise, or to protect from danger
no ancestral trails to follow
no wild spark in their eye
no future

Nothing.

Sure, they will be alive, survivors of the roundup. The BLM and many will say what a great life they will live! They will sleep, graze the green grass, drink the water, swish their tails, and ‘hang’ out with each other for what little social comfort they can still get. They’ll raise their beautiful heads with long flowing mane, and perhaps even perk their ears forward when they look at all of the people who have come to visit and snap a photo of a showcased wild horse…

But how could they possibly still be called ‘Wild Horses’?

The ROAM Act would be better solution than Preserves. Just put the non-reproducing horses back out on the 20 Million Wild Horse Acres that have been taken away and save us taxpayers some money!

Please support the ROAM Act and contact your Senator.

Earlier this week I made a complete meal of writing a Cheryl Cole ‘3 Words’ album review for Attitud

Earlier this week I made a complete meal of writing a Cheryl Cole ‘3 Words’ album review for Attitude Magazine. It’ll be published in the next couple of weeks but now any embargoes seem to have been broken here’s my scattered notes I wrote during the first few listens. Obviously this is not an example of my brilliant writing ability – I just know some people will be interested. It took me quite a while to decide if it was amazing / rubbish. There is no middle ground obviously.

First things first – it sound nothing like a Girls Aloud album and contrary to reports there are NO Xenomania tracks. It’s all about being in love and is quite sad. There’s a lot of Will.I.Am and there’s only one utterly dreadful song.

1. Three Words: Strange guitar opening, sounds a bit like Foals, before the bass builds up . Bizzaro. Will.i.Am/Cheryl co-write and Will.i.Am is all over it – it’s a duet! The three words are indeed ‘I Love You’. Very brave opening track. “It wasn’t complicated, wasn’t pre-meditated, to you I’m dedicated.” Anthem for Chuck & Blair.

2. Parachute: Awesome military drumming. Cheryl sounds sad. About a secret love ‘I won’t tell anyone your voice is my favourite sound’. Her love is the parachute that will catch her if she falls. Nice, strong 90s rnb chorus. Brilliant little pointing finger breakdown “I won’t fall out of love.”

3.Heaven: Another wibbly electro Will.I.Am song and he’s on it again. Most annoying bit is Cheryl totally aping his accent and singing ‘My heaven’s with you’ as ‘My heaven wit you’. No need. Best bit – Will I Am sounds like he’s telling Cheryl she’s immature at one point.

4. Fight For This Love: Best song on the album. The drums on this are amazing now. SOLDIER.

5. Rain On Me: Madonna-ish, teeters along before you have some very odd synthesised oboe (?!) sounds and it blows off into a big midtempo dance chorus. Tears in my eyes while raving kind of affair. Not a will i am track so no idea who is singing along in the chorus. Co-written by Livvi Franc!

6. Make Me Cry: Nice 70s Chic type of bassline. “Are you trying to make me cry?” Fierce, talk to the hand. Cheryl says shit! Doesn’t really go anywhere but pleasant.

7. Happy Hour: Ridiculous, yet adoreable analogies. Bad boy she needs a taste of, he’s an addiction. Co-written by Priscilla Renae, originally a Rihanna demo. Nice layering up of vocals without any Nadine style warbelling. Type of song I think Cheryl would sing along to in the shower. Middle Eastern vibes – K-Ci & Jojo esque piano topline. “Some days I can be sweet and some I’m sour, but I can’t help but drink you up cos you’re my happy hour.” 2nd best song.

8. Stand Up: The only upbeat song, only one that doesn’t sound like Cheryl is the saddest person ever. Taio Cruz penned and he features on it during a rap where he bigs up his advance and his bloody Rokstar shades. Makes me want to crouch to my knees and then fascinatingly ‘Stand Up’ in some kind of never before considered dance routine.

9. Don’t Talk About This Love: Cover of a Nikola Bedingfield song. CUT YOUR EARS OFF AWFUL.

10.Boy Like You: Opens with a sample of Fleetwood Mac ‘Little Lies’. Random. Another Will.i.Am track. Clapping / electro drumbeat. It’s a shoulder wiggler.

11.Heartbreaker: Identical to the single release, no Cheryl mix or anything. Is that FIVE Will.I.Am duets??\

12. Got To Be Real: Amaz-Oh no, this is Cheryl Lynn. Thanks iTunes!

FOR THEIR ADVENTUR¬OUS debut, this Oxford quintet recorded with TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek; the schizophrenic result is both twenty-first-century Brit pop (see Bloc Party) and nuevo New York art rock (see Battles). On “Electric Bloom,” the combination is magic: Largest digital music storage Interlocking guitars and glints of electro-metallic percussion swarm around intima¬tions of disaster, with maybe the most compelling enunciation of the word “hos¬pital” since the first Modern Lovers LP. Later, a metronomic guitar pulse recalls minimalist composer Steve Reich, while vocalist Yannis Philippakis confides, “We fry balloons on a steel cologne!” Or some¬thing like that: Philippakis loves further obscuring cryptic lyrics with his delirious yawps. Mostly that’s fine, since sublimely hypnotic arrangements of horn bursts and techno glitch Free Beyonce Naughty Boy Vinyl beats generally render mean¬ing unnecessary.

But all that yelping about “electric shocks” (“Big Big Love [Fig. 2]“) might be better buried in a dub mix. And if the pledge to “fight these vampires” (“Heavy Water”) is a veiled threat to fellow buzz band Vampire Weekend, Foals may need to revisit their rhyme book. WILL HERMES Free Gangsta Rap music

As previously mentioned, Transgressive Records is five years old this September and there have been

As previously mentioned, Transgressive Records is five years old this September and there have been some gigs to celebrate. I went to the first on Thursday to see Young Knives and the Rakes play at Heaven, and I was also in attendance to see Foals play at the same venue the following night.

Last time I saw Foals was back in July where they were warming up for a Blur support slot the following day. They had taken time out from recording their second album, the follow up to the highly successful debut effort Antidotes, to do both the warm up gig and the Blur gig, and as such showed off a few of the new songs they’d been working on alongside their existing work. This time they were taking time out from recording their new album to play the gig, and played some new songs as a result. Sound familiar?

In fact, if I was bothered enough to double check, I reckon the setlists for the July gig and Friday’s gig would be pretty much identical. This was not a problem before as I liked the song choice they made, playing their best songs and supplementing them with some newer material, and on second listening it worked just as well, as I now have a vague knowledge of stuff such as Spanish Sahara, just because I’ve heard it twice rather than once. I recall liking it first time, and I still think it sounds like a good song. Not that immediate, more laid back and down tempo than something like Cassius, but a good song nonetheless. There was also another new song whose name escapes me, which sounded good, and an unfinished new song kicked off the encore. No words yet, but it sounded promising.

Of course the main attraction with this gig was the big songs, and Foals did not disappoint. The left-right combo of XXXXX and The French Open opened proceedings, as they have done at every single Foals gig I’ve been to, and singles Cassius, Balloons, Red Socks Pugie and Olympic Airways were also brought out to play. Electric Bloom, complete with usual manic Yannis drumming, turned up near the end as per usual, along with a mad leap into the crowd from the frontman, and Two Steps, Twice closed proceedings. As per usual.

It was business as usual really for Foals here. They played the same old songs in pretty much the same old order as they have been doing for the past year or two. This would be a problem if the songs weren’t good, or if they didn’t still put in a strong, energetic performance, but as it was they can get away with it. Next time I see them I will be hoping for some more new stuff. A setlist rejig might be nice too!
