Peter Pans by 50% Male Experimental Theatre

D-light Studios will host 50% Male Experimental Theatre with their performance; ‘Peter Pans’ on the 19, 20, 21, 22 of November.

Choreographed by Anna Gáciarz, Peter Pans explores the syndrome of the same name, a generation of people who don’t want to grow up, who find it difficult to express love. Peter Pans – people with the body of an adult but the mind of a child.

Peter Pans is a combination of physical theatre and contemporary dance theatre technique.

This debut performance by an experimental dance/theatre company, comprises of 3 male and 3 female performers with wildly different back-stories, complimentary skills and a tendency to crack up at tender, ‘sensitive’ moments. They are from Poland and Ireland. They are dancers (and stilt-walkers), office workers and visual artists. The group first got together in February 2009 and found they had an amazing chemistry; their months of work has resulted in this universal tale about a certain generation of people (their generation) who don’t want to grow up; a generation of Peter Pans...

Imposible experiencia vivida por este camarógrafo de la National Geographic.

Al sambullirse en los mares de la Antártida para tomar fotografías a una enorme foca leopardo, fue interpretado por este increíble animal como un especimen herido que no podría cazar. En lugar de descuartizarlo en mil pedazos, la foca comenzo a cazar pingüinos para él, espectáculo que duró 4 días y dejó unas fotos impresionantes.

Vale la pena verlo.

Vos te imaginás estando en el lugar de este pibe? Claramente o A) no le importa nada o B) las fotografías las vende a miles de USD. No sé, yo ni por toda la plata del mundo me tiraría a sacarle fotos a un bichito de esos.

Amanhã eu vou pra Catalão, cidade goiana a 300Km de Brasília, fazer minha primeira reportagem fora do quadradinho conhecido como Distrito Federal. Também é minha primeira viagem como foca – foca é o apelido carinhoso para jornalistas iniciantes. Vou passar um dia e meio lá: chego sexta, na hora do almoço, e volto no fim da tarde de sábado.

Essa viagem é a experiência mais (in)tensa de uma disciplina chamada Técnicas de Jornalismo. A preparação começou há um mês; os alunos pesquisaram sobre a cidade e sugeriam temas para as reportagens. Depois, foi feita a divisão por editorias (política, economia, cultura) e cada repórter começou a preparar a pauta. As últimas semanas foram de apuração: pesquisa de fontes, agendamento de entrevistas e levantamento de informações. Parece fácil, e seria se a telefonista da faculdade não boicotasse os interurbanos dizendo que “o número não existe” ou que “ninguém atende”, mas no fim das contas deu pra entrar em contato com as pessoas de lá.

Eu estou na editoria de meio ambiente, farei uma reportagem sobre a questão da conservação dos parques e reservas ecológicas de Catalão. Minha vontade era fazer uma matéria sobre orçamento participativo, pois não é um assunto conhecido pela população, ela não sabe como contribuir, como fiscalizar, etc.,  mas acabei “seduzida” pela situação ambiental de Catalão.

Uma das provas de fogo dessa viagem é conciliar o tempo às necessidades de cada pauta. No meu caso, vou entrevistar três fontes oficiais e ainda vou colher a opinião de cidadãos de Catalão. Além disso, ainda existem reuniões de pauta com a professora (que no caso é a editora-chefe) e reuniões das editorias. Para minha sorte, a editoria de meio ambiente conta com 3 repórteres, então o encontro é mais fácil e rápido.

Para quem quiser acompanhar minha viagem, é só ficar de olho no meu twitter. A saga começa amanhã bem cedo: às 6h30 vamos sair da universidade rumo a Catalão, mas antes disso eu já devo dar pelo menos uma tuitada, heh. I am a Conservative Christian in doctrine and in a standard of living ordained by God, not the world. Being a Conservative Christian means understanding and living by every word written in the Bible, not just selected bits and pieces of it. That being said, some would say that the Levitical Law was under Grace after Christ’s death on the Cross. When it comes to the homosexual lifestyle, nothing can be further from the truth, read Romans 1:16-32*(see ref).

From IndyStar:  A Purdue University professor has landed in hot water with students protesting his personal blog — a conservative Web page on which he posted an ‘economic case against homosexuality.’ Some have called for Bert Chapman to resign or be fired for his Oct. 27 posting, which laid out an argument that the cost for AIDS research and treatment should factor into the national debate over the acceptance of gays and lesbians.

Actually, Chapman is correct – keep in mind the proposed Freedom of Choice Act; it spoke of the downturn the economy will take if all of the children that should have been aborted would be born because it was ASSUMED that they and their mothers would be on the government dime. So why is there a difference of importance between gays and the unborn? Because the unborn cannot speak for themselves. I assure you that these precious preborn souls would choose Life.

Besides what the homosexual lifestyle infers, as taxpayers we already pay for HIV and AIDS research and treatment, we already pay for abortions and contraception; but the proposed healthcare bill will include gender reassignment and fulfilling homosexual ‘families’ – artificial insemination,  IVF, infertility counseling, adoption and foster parenting.

Our freedom of speech is limited to the opinion of those that are within earshot and a computer.

It’s time to GET OFF THE COUCH and stand up for LIFE and LIBERTY.

His Excellency, Michigan Catholic Bishop Bart Stupak has made it clear to lay Catholic Nancy Pelosi concerning tax payer funded abortion within any health care plan, “no federal funding for abortions has been the law of the land since 1976, and the law should not be changed now…” Pelosi disagrees, saying she doesn’t believe her Bishop (Stupak) has clearly stated that position, but, that she wants to be respectful of Bishop Stupaks concerns, yet, respect full reproductive health care for America’s women…

No, Northern Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak is not a Catholic Bishop, but he is a Catholic–in word and deed. And today he clearly outlined the position the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) should now take in regard to health care reform in America.

It’s time the USCCB insures against authentic Catholic social teaching being hoodwinked by Washington:

A letter officially declaring immediate USCCB non-support of health care reform in America should find its way to the desks of all lawmakers and the President of the United States; combined with stand down orders for all Catholic health care reform support organizations under the direction of the USCCB, or, associated with the Catholic Church.

Bishops and all Catholics, including Nancy Pelosi, should follow the lead of Bishop Stupak by demanding that health care reform include Hyde Amendment language protecting against federally funded abortions. Government can once again gain back our trust and full support for health care reform, beginning with a vote on the floor. Until then, its time for Bishops to vigourously oppose all reform…

We are, after all, talking about a holocaust of children here, gentlemen.

Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, today issued the following statement in response to a Cybercast News Service article that reported: Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I) told CNSNews.com that the Catholic Church is doing nothing but fanning “the flames of dissent and discord” by taking the position that it will oppose the health-care reform bill under consideration in Congress unless it is amended to explicitly prohibit funding of abortion.

“Congressman Patrick Kennedy’s statement about the Catholic Church’s position on health care reform is irresponsible and ignorant of the facts. But the Congressman is correct in stating that “he can’t understand.” He got that part right.

As I wrote to Congressman Kennedy and other members of the Rhode Island Congressional Delegation recently, the Bishops of the United States are indeed in favor of comprehensive health care reform and have been for many years. But we are adamantly opposed to health care legislation that threatens the life of unborn children, requires taxpayers to pay for abortion, rations health care, or compromises the conscience of individuals.

Congressman Kennedy continues to be a disappointment to the Catholic Church and to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. I believe the Congressman owes us an apology for his irresponsible comments. It is my fervent hope and prayer that he will find a way to provide more effective and morally responsible leadership for our state.”

Why I Don’t Contribute to Catholic Campaign for Human Development

In violation of the strict rule that any discussion using “Nazi” as a simile for anything is immediately ceded, let me ask what Nazism, American slavery, and abortion have in common.

The answer is that they all deny(ied) the personhood of one group of human beings with the consequence that the “right to life” of the depersonalized group lies (or lay) in the power of those with legal status.

Which is why I won’t be contributing to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development – not this year or any year that one penny goes toward the support of any Alinskyian organizing network, such as the Industrial Areas Foundation, PICO, Gamaliel, DART, and the now disgraced and defunded ACORN… not to mention smaller networks and the hundreds of affiliate groups they spawn.

The links between the Alinskyian organizing networks and abortion are indirect but serious. It isn’t that the local Alinskyian organization will say “we’re supporting abortion rights” but that they are promoting (for example) Obama’s universal, government health care, despite its abortion-supportive components or that they’ll support a pro-abortion politician because he supports a pet program. The politically progressive Alinskyian organizing networks don’t have to include abortion “rights” in their platform to be supportive them.

And there’s an additional Culture of Death problem in all this, namely the indeterminate political “relationship” created by this particular ecumenical fellowship. To take an example, consider the institutional members of the Alinskyian organization, VOICE (Virginians Organized for Interfaith Community Engagement). VOICE is an Arlington, Virginia affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation network and has about 39 institutional members – only institutions can join, not individual people – as well as another 7 who are in an “exploratory commitment” with the group. All are religious bodies.

Of those religious bodies, 11 are Catholic and presumably adhere to Catholic teaching about the intrinsic evil of abortion. The rest are predominantly from denominational scions – progressive break-aways from mainline religious “traditions”– that support abortion.

For instance, since 1971, the United Church of Christ has affirmed a woman’s right to access to safe and legal abortion. There are three United Church of Christ congregations in VOICE.

In 1978, Unitarian Universalists declared a “right” to contracept and abort. There are 5 Unitarian Universalists congregations involved with VOICE.

The conservative and reform branches of Judaism support a woman’s “choice” to abort and have 3 congregations in VOICE. The 5 Presbyterian members of VOICE are Presbyterian Church USA congregations. The Presbyterian Church USA also affirms a woman’s “choice.” United Methodists support the legal option of abortion…and there are 5 United Methodist congregations in VOICE.

Baptists have no centralized institutional authority, meaning there’s a good bit of variation from congregation to congregation. Their larger groupings, called conventions, do tend to group themselves into “progressive” or “traditional” camps. One “progressive” camp, for example, would be the New Baptist Convention founded by Jimmy Carter in 2008, about which The Washington Post writes gives “moderate Baptists a stronger collective voice and could provide Democrats a greater entrance into the Baptist community.” [Alan Coopeman, “Carter, Clinton Seek to Bring Together Moderate Baptists,” Washington Post, 1-21-07] Of the 8 Baptist congregations of VOICE, most seem to belong to the National Baptist Convention, which is divided on the abortion issue.

The Episcopal Church USA Executive Council formally made the Episcopal Church a member of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice in 1986. There are 2 Episcopalian congregations in VOICE.

The one African Methodist Episcopal congregation in VOICE, if it is consistent with other AME thought, laments abortion but argues it must be legally available for cases of rape, incest, and the “freedom to make reproductive choices.”

As for the Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center, VOICE’s single Muslim member, it may or may not be anti-abortion but its pro-life credentials are questionable. Paul Sperry, in his book Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives Have Penetrated Washington, writes: “Heading deeper into falls Church on Leesburg Pike for about another mile takes you to the next place of interest on the Wahhabi corridor: Dar Al Hijrah, the hard-line Wahhabi mosque where Hazmi and other hijackers from the Pentagon cell worshipped and received aid and comfort. He and other hijackers were ministered to there by an iman who encourages violent jihad and martyrdom.”

So the question is, why is the pro-life Catholic Church in a political coalition with pro-death denominations rather than other pro-life denominations? Before you answer too quickly, imagine that rather than openly supporting “woman’s right to choose,” they supported a white man’s “right” to lynch?

I suggest that if the latter situation seems clear-cut, that if pro-life churches would never consider entering into any open-ended coalition with pro-slavery organizations, they have no business in a coalition with pro-aborts either. Groups that, as a matter of institutional policy, depersonalize other human beings so that the literal life is at stake, are dangerous.

Which is why, I suspect, that one reads of Catholics around the United States organizing boycotts of the CCHD. Mary Ann Kreitzer, president of Les Femmes in Diocese of Arlington, where VOICE is active, writes, “The pretense that ending [CCHD] funding to ACORN has eliminated the scandal is ridiculous when you consider that many of the other community organizing groups receiving money operate exactly like ACORN does and are engaging in the same type of liberal lobbying. …Why are millions being funneled to secular groups that often have an agenda diametrically opposed to the Church?”

In July 2007, Barack Obama promised a group of his supporters that, if elected president, he would sign perhaps the most evil piece of legislation in the history of our republic.

It’s called the “Freedom of Choice Act,” or FOCA — but don’t let the Orwellian title fool you. It isn’t about “freedom” or “choice” at all. It’s about forcing each and every American citizen — regardless of his or her view on abortion — to support abortion-on-demand not just as a “fundamental right” but as a taxpayer-funded entitlement.

But the compulsion wouldn’t stop there. Because FOCA would also run roughshod over the conscience rights of doctors, nurses, and hospitals that oppose abortion on religious or moral grounds — forcing them to provide or counsel for abortion or face professional de-certification, loss of funding, lawsuits, and even prosecution.

Not only that, FOCA would immediately strike down any and all state restrictions on abortion — even those with wide popular support, such as prohibitions on partial-birth abortion and parental notification requirements for minors seeking abortions.

Make no mistake: FOCA is the most radical piece of pro-abortion legislation ever proposed, one that would go far beyond Roe v. Wade in making abortion a government-protected and taxpayer-supported “right,” through all nine months of pregnancy.

That’s why I’m asking you today to support HUMAN EVENTS in its efforts to stop this outrageous piece of legislation before it ever reaches President Obama’s desk.

Let me explain why this is possible — and how

You see, in his 2007 campaign pledge to Planned Parenthood members, Obama promised that signing FOCA would be “the first thing I’d do as president.” The only reason he hasn’t followed through on that promise is that Democratic-controlled Congress has yet to introduce and pass it.

But with your help, HUMAN EVENTS will defeat the pro-abortionists’ “stealth” media campaign with its own media blitzkrieg designed to counter pro-FOCA lies and propaganda with the facts.

Pra quem não está em Terra Brasilis: esta semana é conhecida como “semana do saco cheio”. Isso porque é feriado nacional na segunda, 12 de outubro, (dia da padroeira do Brasil, Nossa Senhora Aparecida) e feriado escolar na quinta, 15 de outubro, dia do professor ou, como muita gente não sabe, dia de Santa Tereza, padroeira dos professores. Enfim… Sobram 3 dias da semana intercalados pra trabalhar e muita gente não trabalha.
