Snarl은 윈도우즈 유저에게는 다소 생소하겠지만 소위 말하는 알림 시스템(notification system)이다. 일반적인 응용프로그램(앱)의 알림은 윈도우의 포커스를 강요하거나 태스크 또는 시스템 트레이에 자체 아이콘이 고정되어 있을 것을 요구한다. Snarl은 알림 시스템이 필요한 앱에게 표준적이고 통일적인, 그러면서도 미려한 인터페이스를 선사한다. Snarl은 이름에서도 짐작할 수 있겠지만 맥오에스텐의 Growl을 흉내낸 것으로, 오리지널 비주얼에 상당히 근접해 있다. 한 가지 문제점이라면, 어쩌면 가장 큰 문제점일 수도 있겠지만, 맥에서와는 달리 개발자들이 Snarl을 광범위하게 끌어안고 있지 않고 있다는 것이겠다.

그들만의 최고의 플레이어인 Foobar2000에는 이미 OSD 플럭인이 존재하지만 솔직히 말해서 미적으로 끌리는 측면은 많이 약하다고 본다. FooSnarl은 Foobar2000의 비공식 플럭인으로 Snarl을 통해 현재 곡목 정보를 표시한다. 기본적으로 Play, Pause, Stop 이벤트가 발생할 때 알림 시스템이 작동하고, 표시되는 정보는 Foobar2000 내부에서 사용자의 입맛에 맞게 커스마이즈할 수 있다.

설치 순서는 다음과 같다.

1. Snarl 설치 및 실행
2. Foobar2000을 종료한 후에 플럭인 폴더에 FooSnarl의 dll을 복사
3. Foobar2000을 다시 실행한다. Snarl에서 등록되었다는 메시지가 안 뜨면, Snarl을 종료시킨 후에 다시 실행한 후에 Foobar2000을 한 번만 더 실행해주면 된다. 이후에는 정상적으로 작동한다.

스크린샷에 사용된 Snarl 스타일은 PSP 스타일로, 윈도우즈7에서 실행된 장면이다. 이외에 여러 가지 스타일이 존재하고 각 스타일마다 투명도 등 다양한 속성을 조절해줄 수 있다.

Maka saya share juga di sini, setting beberapa Audio Player+iZotope Ozone MP yang menurut penilaian dan telinga saya diurutkan dari yang paling enak dulu suaranya..

Syarat:
1. Anda punya Winamp.
2. Pastikan bahwa iZotope Ozone MP telah sukses terinstal di Winamp Anda.

I. Quintessential Media Player:
Oleh developer iZotope Ozone MP, secara default memang sengaja DSP plugin ini diperuntukkan bagi Winamp dan Quintessential Media Player.
Maka tentu saja program ini secara tepat pula kompatibel dengan QMP. Alih-alih perlu cara tertentu untuk wrapping-nya.

Cara setting plugin:
A. Cara Copy Paste (seperti XMPlay):
1. Buka folder \Program Files\Winamp\Plugins, cari dan copy file: dsp_iZOzone.dll dan folder Ozone.
2. Paste ke folder \Program Files\Quintessential Media Player\Plugins
3. Hidupkan QMP Anda.
4. Klik Preferences >Plug-ins>Plug-in Loading dan pastikan di kotak “Set folders to search for plug-ins:” tertulis alamat \Program Files\Quintessential Media Player\Plugins.
5. Klik box: “Load New Plug-ins” maka akan muncul pop-up “New plugins found”, klik OK.
6. Klik sidebar “DSPs” kalau benar akan tercontreng tulisan di box “iZotope Ozone [dsp_iZOzone.dll]” (lihat gambar). Lalu klik box “Save and Close”.
7. Restart QMP Anda.

B. Cara Wrapping DSP Winamp Plugins:
- Cara 1 s/d 3 seperti di atas tidak dijalankan (tanpa copas) tetapi langsung cara no. 4, Preferences >Plug-ins>Plug-in Loading>Add. Browse ke folder: \Program Files\Winamp\Plugins. Cara seterusnya sama seperti atas.

Cara setting iZotope Ozone MP:
1. Pastikan semua lagu yang diinginkan sudah masuk daftar playlist.
2. Klik/tekan tombol PRESETS, pilih preset kesukaan Anda>Update>Assign…to>All>OK>Close

II. Foobar2000 Player:
Buka web: INI

downloadlah: Winamp DSP Bridge plug-in (foo_dsp_winamp) di bawah tulisan Component links, code “Binary”.
Ekstrakkan ke sub-folder Components dari folder program Foobar2000 Anda.

Cara setting plugin:
1. Buka Foobar, masuk ke Preferences>Playback>DSP Manager
2. Pindahkan “Winamp DSP bridge” dari kolom kanan ke kolom Active DSPs di sebelah kiri. Sorot kursor.
3. Klik box “Configure selected”..maka muncul box Winamp plug-in path.. Browse path..\Winamp\Plugins.. lalu Rescan..
4. Pilihlah Plug-in list: iZotope Ozone (dsp_izozone.dll). Sebelum Apply pilihlah Fixed point convertion parameters: 16, 24, atau 32-bit..sesuai kemampuan Audio processing di PC Anda..
5. Lalu restart-lah Foobar Anda..

Cara setting iZotope Ozone MP:
1. Pastikan semua lagu yang diinginkan sudah masuk daftar playlist.
2. Klik/tekan tombol PRESETS, pilih preset kesukaan Anda>Update>Assign…to>All>OK>Close

III. AIMP2 Player:

Downloadlah “Ozone for AIMP” di: 4shared

Setup:

Cara setting plugin:
1. Buka AIMP2: Options
2. Klik Playing>lalu klik tombol kotak DSP-Manager (lihat kanan bawah di atas kotak Close)
3. Muncul pop-up box AIMP2: DSP-Manager>Winamp DSP Plug-Ins pilih “iZotope Ozone” lalu klik Options.
4. Tutup semua box lalu restart-lah AIMP2 Anda.

Cara setting iZotope Ozone MP:
1. Pastikan semua lagu yang diinginkan sudah masuk daftar playlist.
2. Klik/tekan tombol PRESETS, pilih preset kesukaan Anda>Update>Assign…to>All>OK>Close

IV. Winamp Media Player:
Winamp adalah “gudang” default untuk menyimpan iZotope Ozone MP. Plugin ini sebenarnya oleh pabrikannya memang sengaja dibuat untuk Winamp dan QMP.

Cara setting plugin:
1. Buka Winamp: Options>Preferences>Plug-ins>DSP Effect
2. Pilih “iZotope Ozone [dsp_iZOzone.dll]“
3. Klik tombol “Configure active plug-in” maka keluarlah iZotope Ozone MP.

Cara setting iZotope Ozone MP:
1. Pastikan semua lagu yang diinginkan sudah masuk daftar playlist.
2. Klik/tekan tombol PRESETS, pilih preset kesukaan Anda>Update>Assign…to>All>OK>Close

It’s a common problem among computer users: after a few months, our computers become weighed down by programs and all sorts of other junk, and inevitably become sluggish. For the less tech-savvy users, this may induce thoughts like “Why is my computer so terrible?” or “I guess I could always upgrade this… what-cha-ma-callit RAM thing”.

Regular maintenance is usually required to keep a computer optimized and running at its best. Here are four programs that will make your computer faster, and four trade-offs to help make the best use out of the amount of RAM that’s installed on your computer.

MSConfig

For those who despair endlessly that their computer lags too much at start up yet don’t know how to go about fixing that, taking a look through MSConfig would be the place to start. Msconfig can by accessed by hitting Windows-R, which brings up the “Run” dialog, and typing in “msconfig”. Under the “Start Up” tab, there is a list of programs and executables that are launched when the computer starts up.

Having a lot of programs that start up when the computer boots is one of the main reasons that boot times are so long, for most PC users. Thus, the remedy would be to go through the entire list and uncheck anything that is unnecessary to have on boot up. If there are any entries you are not sure about, be sure to check them thoroughly on the internet before messing with them, as unchecking the wrong entries could potentially mess up the functionality of some of your programs.

CCleaner

CCleaner stands for “Crap Cleaner” and that is exactly what the program is great for. Over time, temporary files bog down your system, and take up unnecessary space in your harddrive. Thus, it is good PC maintenance practice to go through your computer once every while, and delete all the temp files.

It is incredibly simple: just navigate to the Cleaner tab in CCleaner, check everything you want to clean up (it would be best to leave the “Advanced” section alone, unless you know what those entries refer to), and then clean Analyze. You’ll then see an overview of what CCleaner is about to clean up and delete, and how much space CCleaner will free up for you. To permanently erase the temp files off your computer, simply click “Run Cleaner,” and all those temp files will be history.

Temp files aren’t the only junk files cluttering up your computer, however. Broken registry keys also pose a huge problem when it comes to useless files clogging up your system. Fortunately, CCleaner also has the ability to keep your registry clean.

To do this, use the “Registry” tab in Ccleaner. Once again, select all the entries you want CCleaner to prune, and let it do its thing. The only difference between this type of maintenance and clearing temp files is that if you accidentally delete a key that is still being used by your system, your computer can begin to function strangely. With that said, you should back up your registry settings before you give CCleaner the go ahead to torch everything. When you click “Fix Selected Issues” to delete the faulty registry entries, CCleaner will prompt you to back up your registry, and you should always click ‘yes’.

Revo Uninstaller

Revo Uninstaller is like the on-steroids version of your own Add and Remove Programs option in the Control Panel, but it also scans your computer for any files that the default uninstaller doesn’t catch, and deletes them. Revo’s layout is pretty much exactly the same as the Add and Remove Programs dialog, so it should be simple to navigate.

Revo also has a panel that lists all of the clean up tools that are provided with Windows systems. This menu can be accessed by clicking the Tools icon, and then the Windows Tools tab on the left.

Defraggler

So once you’ve cleared all of the unnecessary files from your computer, there are now a bunch of holes where the data for those files used to be. While this may seem like no big deal to most people, having random gaps of empty space can also slow down your computer, because the rest of your files are still splintered into many different pieces, and the newly generated empty space isn’t being used efficiently. The more pieces a file is split to, the longer it takes the computer to access that file, so it makes sense to put all these pieces back together, once space has been cleared up to store whole files.

Defraggler is one of the best free defragmentation tools on the market. The visual representation of the space on the computer as pieces of files are being reunited is extremely enlightening, because most people don’t realize the extent of file splintering on their systems.

But cleaning up your computer isn’t the only thing you can do to optimize how fast your computer runs. Believe it or not, the programs you choose to perform daily actions such as chatting, or opening PDFs, can also affect your computer’s running speed.

Best Program Trade-Offs

This section discusses several alternative applications that perform more efficiently and provides your computer with the speed boost that it needs. Especially on slower computers, the difference is quite noticeable. Try it them out for yourselves!

1. Pidgin vs. AIM

If you don’t mind the spartan interface, Pidgin is a great multi-protocol IM client with a light footprint. Unfortunately it doesn’t natively support video chat, but it does have a plug-in for Skype (although you’ll need to have Skype running to use it).

2. Firefox or Chrome vs Internet Explorer

I recommend this switch not just based off memory footprint, but also because both Firefox and Chrome trump IE when it comes to customization and start-up times.

3. Foxit Reader vs Adobe Reader

Adobe Reader is notorious for its slow load times, especially when it comes to huge documents. Being a student, I regularly load 500+ page PDFs (the digital versions of my textbooks), so having to wait ages for them to load would be severely detrimental to my productivity. Foxit Reader, however, is so snappy that a 500+ page PDF loads almost instantly, and the browser integration is much smoother and faster than that of Adobe Reader. Once again, the interface is a bit more spartan, but Foxit definitely packs more features, and is a very worthy switch.

4. VLC Player vs Windows Media Player

VLC is like the Pidgin of media players in that it supports a multitude of different video formats, and has a quick loading interface. Another great, recently implemented feature of VLC is that it can now be skinned to fit in with your windows theme!

5. Foobar2000 vs iTunes

The great thing about Foobar is that it is so customizable: everything from the layout of the interface to the plug-ins to extend the program’s capabilities can be tweaked. Many people worry that without iTunes, they wont’ be able to sync their iPod or iPhone, but Foobar actually has a plug-in to support iPod syncing.

FOOBAR

This awesome software can surprise the user by providing all the major functions of a media player with various custom options in such a small size. It is mere 7-10mb. Though it may have slightly less audio quality and graphics, it can replace many media players because of its advantages like speed, etc. Its threads or basically more advanced types can be found on the internet which may provide attractiveness to the users who want good looking and light media players. From my point of view it is a must. You can install it on any Window type.

VLC MEDIA PLAYER

This software is very important software which can play almost all types of videos which other media players like Windows media player itself fail to play. It is about 73mb in size. It may be having lesser seek quality, visualizing quality, etc. but it is a highly reliable media player basically for videos. This software should be installed on one’s computer for those situations when one is cheated by all other media players. It can be installed on any Windows.

DAEMON TOOLS

Daemon Tools is used for advanced copy protection emulation with the help of implemented virtual DVD ROM drive. It enables the user to play almost CD copies available.With the help of this one can play CDs and DVDs without inserting them into CD drive.It is hardly 1mb in size. It can be installed on Windows95/98/ME/NT/2000/2003/XP/Vista.

Last.fm

Nesse tutorial explicarei como fazer o scrobbling das suas músicas ouvidas no Foobar2000 para o seu perfil do Last.fm.

Inicialmente, precisamos baixar o componente Audioscrobbler (todos os componentes necessários encontram-se no final do post para download).

Depois de baixar o arquivo, descompacte-o usando qualquer programa de compactação/descompactação de sua preferência (recomendo o WinRAR).

Copie a dll, “foo_audioscrobbler” e cole na pasta “Components” do Foobar2000 (entre em C:\Arquivos de programas\foobar2000\components).

Agora abra o Foobar2000 normalmente e entre na opção “Preferences”, clicando em “File“, e em seguida, em “Preferences” (ou simplesmente, use o atalho: Ctrl + P).

Você notará que irá abrir uma tela com várias opções de configuração do Foobar2000 (como mostrado na imagem à baixo), mas nos restringiremos aos sub-menus da opção “Tools“.

Clique no sinal de “+” que se encontra à frente da opção “Tools“, e em seguida, em “Audioscrobbler“.

Marque a opção “Enable Audioscrobbler” e preencha os campos “Name” e “Password“, com o seu nome de usuário e senha do Last.fm, respectivamente.

Na sessão “Submissions“, marque a opção “Only submit tracks from the Media Library” se você quiser que o Last.fm faça scrobbling somente das músicas que se encontram na sua biblioteca ou marque a opção “Submit tracks from dynamic sources” se você quiser que o Last.fm faça scrobbling de qualquer fonte de música que se encontra em seu computador, incluindo streams online (recomendo que marque somente esta última opção). O resto deixe de acordo com a imagem à baixo

Finalmente, clique em “Close” no canto inferior direito da tela.
Pronto, seu Foobar2000 está configurando para enviar as músicas que você ouvi para o seu perfil do Last.fm.

Faça um teste, ouça alguma música em seu computador (é normal que o scrobbling, das primeiras músicas que você ouvir, demore um pouco para acontecer).

Se caso o scrobbling não acontecer, repita os passos de configuração já explicados aqui e reinicie o Foobar2000 (essa etapa é fundamental para o bom funcionamento deste, como de qualquer outro componente, adicionado ao Foobar2000). Akhir akhir ini Foobar2000 menjadi aplikasi pemutar audio favorit saya, berukuran kecil, membutuhkan rescourse yang rendah, dan yang terpenting suaranya cukup bagus untuk kuping penggemar musik2 underground seperti saya , fitur fiturnya bisa jadi tidak akan ditemukan di aplikasi sejenis seperti scan gain, multitab playlist, converter dll. Step 1 (add libary)
Untuk mempermudah mengorganisir dan menemukan file audio sebaiknya, membuat libary dulu caranya klick “libary” – “configure” – “add,” masukkan folder dimana file file audio anda diletakkan, jika suatu saat anda ingin memainkan lagu favorit anda dengan cepat maka klick “libary” – “search” – ketikkan kata kunci anda misalnya saya ingin memainkan Lostprophets – 4-Am Forever maka cukup ketikkan kata kuncinya “forever” atau “4-Am” atau “lostprophets” dan tekan enter untuk memainkannya, hemat waktu kan

Step 2 (Playing)
Button control sangat mudah digunakan, anda bisa mengatur sendiri letak layoutnya di menu “view layout”. Pengaturan equalizer, visualisations-pun cukup mudah di mengerti , ehm jangan lupa mengatur equalizernya untuk mendapatkan hasil yang maksimal.

Step 3 (MultiTab Playlist)
Anda terbiasa menggunakan multitab saat browsing?, Foobar2000 bisa juga seperti itu. Jendela playlist bisa anda tambahkan sebanyak yang anda suka.

Untuk menambahkan playlist baru, klick kanan space playlist yang kosong pilih “add new”, beri nama playlist anda dengan memilih “rename”, jika ingin cepat memainkan lagu tanpa harus memelototi daftar @_@ tekan “ctrl” + “F” dan ketikkan kata kunci lagunya.

Step 4 (Converting Audio)
Jangan salah, Foobar2000 bisa juga lo mengkonversi file audio, pilihan konversi-pun cukup banyak, mulai dari FLAC, MP3, OggVorbis, WAV dan masih banyak lagi, jika dirasa masih kurang bisa ditambahkan plug in tambahan kog ?, untuk melakukan konversi, klick kanan file yang diinginkan dan pilih “convert”,

Ada tiga tab disini
Tab “output”
Pilih button (…) di samping kanan “output format” untuk pengaturan lebih lanjut seperti pengaturan kbps, vbr dan yang lainnya., tentukan tempat penyimpanan di Button (…) Specify Folder. Terakhir klick “ok” dan “save” saya kaget juga dengan kecepatan konversinya,, gile juga hahay.
Anda bisa juga hlo menggabungkan track track yang ingin anda konversi menjadi satu file dengan memilih “merge all track into one file” .
Tab “Processing”
Ehm anda bisa menambahkan replay gain dsini, jadi atur volume-nya sesuai kemauan anda atau tambahkan efek dsp dengan pilihan yang lumayan banyak, ingin menambahkan crossfader atau limitter? Bisaa,,, :p
Tab “other”
Tab ini lumayan advance yaitu pengaturan dither, bit dll.
Bingung? Jika anda bingung cukup klick tab output saja, yang processing sama other g usah lah

Step 5 (Tagging)
Foobar2000, tagging pun jadi lebih mudah,cukup klick kanan file di playlist atau block file2 yang diinginkan jika ingin melakukan multiple tagging dan klick “properties”, edit taggingnya terakhir klick OK.

Step 6 (Skinning)
Bosen dengan skin seperti itu? Ganti saja layoutnya di menu “view” – “layout” – “quick setup”
Atau download skin disini ehm sebelum menginstal skin sebaiknya anda membaca readme yang biasanya sudah diisertakan dalam bundel agar anda tidak bingung

I feel like it’s time to share my huge (ahem…) knowledge of free Windows software to the world, so now I’m going to make a list of software I use a lot and gladly recommend.

• Email client: Mozilla Thunderbird [I haven't really tried so many mail clients, but I don't miss anything in this one. You might need to do quite a  bit of tweaking if you want it to work in your prefered way.]
• Music player: foobar2000 [The most advanced and competent music player on the market, with endless upgrading and tweaking possibilities. And that it uses less to no memory at all isn't exactly bad either. The spectrum visualization looks amazingly cool as well (I even use it to "take a look" at the music I make myself to find flaws).]
• File converter: MediaCoder [Extremely advanced, yet easy to use. I can't find anything this little thing can't convert between. It works for both audio and video.]
• Uninstaller: Revo Uninstaller [Easy to use and way better than Windows' own software for this purpose. This uninstaller doesn't only have the ability to force remove things (remove registry entries), it will also search for left over files.]
• Registry cleaner: Piriform CCleaner [My first choice for removing registry junk and left over file extensions etc. Looks very nice and works fast and well.]
• BitTorrent client: µTorrent [Incredibly tiny (you don't even have to install it), fast, reliable and competent. Nice.]
• Anti-virus: avast! [Perhaps not the best on the market, but all the things you get in the free version is hard to beat. My only real complaint is that virus searches are very slow, but hey, not that many anti-virus softwares have the option of a free license, which weights up a lot of things. If you want a free anti-virus, choose this one. You won't get much better than this.]
• CD/DVD burner: CDBurnerXP [This is fast, well equipped and smart burning software. You will miss nothing and appreciate everything. Go get it!]
• ZIP utility: IZArc [This is the best free extractor I've found yet. Looks nice, and does a good job. Recommended.]
• Music tagging: Mp3tag [It's quite amazing how much junk info that hides in the metadata of files. No music player (except perhaps foobar2000) can show and edit all the metainfo of the music files, therefore other software is necessary. Mp3tag allows you to see every info-field that's stored in your music files. And it supports all of them. The competition doesn't stand a chance against this.]
• Video player: VideoLAN VLC Media Player [This plays everything. Literally. Even things it shouldn't be able to play. You will never need to think about downloading something else like this again. It has all the functions you need and more. This is the "market" (it's free) leader for a reason. If you watch video on your computer, you NEED VLC Media Player.]
• Mounting tool: DAEMON Tools [This is the most famouse one, and the free version allows you do all the mounting etc. you need. Recommended.]

That’s all the software I can think of now, that I use a lot, and want to share with all my (non-existing) readers. If I think of anything else I will update this post.

Sebelumnya saya pernah menulis tentang music player yang suaranya mantab, yaitu Foobar2000, nah karena lagi ketagihan dengan player yang satu ini, ada satu plugin yang fungsinya untuk menampilkan status Yahoo Messenger kamu (YM) sesuai dengan lagu yang kamu mainkan saat itu juga (now playing). Nama pluginnya AMIP (Advanced mIRC Integration Plug-in), sebenarnya sih bukan hanya untuk Foobar2000 saja, tetapi AMIP ini juga mendukung software musik lainnya seperti Winamp dan iTunes.

Baru mencoba nih Foobar2000, langsung jatuh hati deh, soalnya suara yang dihasilkan oleh audio player ini ternyata sangat bagus, jernih, dan murni (jadi kaya air ya ) daripada audio player lainnya yang pernah saya install. Sebelumnya saya pernah menggunakan JetAudio, eh setelah mencoba Foobar200, jadi pindah haluan, he he he.

Mungkin dari segi tampilan, memang masih sederhana, tidak seperti audio/music player lainnya, tapi yang lebih diutamakan dari audio/music player adalah kualitas suaranya kan .

Minilyric juga mendukung Foobar2000 lho. Kalau anda tertarik dan ingin mencoba/mengunduh Foobar2000, silahkan menuju situs aslinya di sini.

בקצרה: רכשתי הבוקר את הכרטיס של קריאטיב, העסק לא עבד מהקופסא, כלומר ווינדוס זיהה את הכרטיס בלי דריברים אבל כל הערוצים מוקססו לקידמיים, חיפוש קצר בגוגל גילה לי שזו בעיה ידועה לעוד כמה אנשים אבל אף אחד לא דיבר על פתרון. התקנתי דריברים, קינפגתי את הכרטיס (הורדתי פילטרים מיותרים, כיוונתי את הכרטיס ל-5.1) והפלא ופלא – זה עובד!
אבל, 100% מעבד. זה לא ממש שמיש. יש לי כמה חשדות לגבי השימוש הבעיייתי בזמן מעבד – יש לי כמה תחושות לגבי מקורות אפשריים של הבעיה. עדכונים בהמשך.

אלון השאיר לי שתי מתנות מעניינות לשחק איתן בזמן שהוא טס חו”ל, הראשונה היא נטופ קטן וחמוד.

בתמונה: הצעצוע החדש של אבא ליד הצעצועים של הבן (שלי יותר מגניב!) כרגע הוא רק עושה BOOT ונתקע, אבל בהמשך נטפל בזה

למה זה טוב? המחשב הזה ישמש אותי בתור נגן נייד בעבודה, הוא קלאסי למשימה: יש לו דיסק של 60GB, בטח ישארו 55GB נטו אחרי ההתקנות למוזיקה, יותר ממספיק. יש לו מסך מגע 7″ וסילוס קטן בדופן, WiFi, וטצ’-פד קטן במקרה הצורך. ד”א, נקנה באופיס דיפו במחיר 900 ש”ח

אני מתכנן לחבר אליו כרטיס קול חיצוני (USB חיצוני של כריאטיב או משהו בסגנון) עם 6 יציאות (ק”ב) ולהשתמש ב-foobar ו-dsp-xover-plugin בכדי להפוך אותו לנגן מדיה + פרה\קרוס אקטיבי. יוצמדו אליו שני t-amp חביבים ורמקולים מוניטוריים שישודרגו בהמשך.

בינתיים, אני בבעיות קלות להתקין עליו וינדוס (חוקי). אלןו (כמובן) התקין עליו אובונטו (שלא עובד כ”כ טוב כי אין דריברים, וכי זה אלון) בנוסף לכל הצרות, למחשב הזה אין כונן אופטי, שמשאיר את האופציה הנפלאה והאלגנטית של BOOT מדיס-און-קי.

מצאתי מספר לא מבוטל של מדריכים וסיפורי הצלחה להפיכת דיסק-און-קי תמים ל-windows-xp installation bootable (אין דרך סבירה לתרגם את זה לעיברית בלי לשבור כמה מקשים במקלדת). עקבתי אחרי זה. יש מספר טכניקות, אבל המון נקודות חלשות בהן המדריכים עובדים על קונפיגורציה מסויימת אבל לא על אחרת. למשל: גודל הדיסק (און-קי). בראשית ניסיתי את ה-cruiser 8g U3 שלי, בגלל ה-U3, יש להסיר את המחיצות המקוריות (יש עליו שתי מחיצות, לא כתוב על כך שום דבר במפורש) ולאחד אותן (בעזרת כלי של sandisk להסרה), לאחר מכן יש לפרמט אותו ב-FAT32 ולהשאיר את ה-boot sector מצביע על משהו שמסוגל לעשות boot. אבל גם זה לא הולך חלק כי הכלי שדיברו עליו בשני מדריכים (PeToUsb) היה בגרסא 3.0.0.7 והיה צריך לעדכן ל-3.0.0.8 (מעקב אחרי עשרות טוקבקים בנסיון להבין מה ה-error של הגרסא הישנה). ואז יש לעשות קצת קסם, והעתיק את ההתקנה של windows בצורה מסויימת (יש סקריפט אוטומטי, וזה מסכם את הצעדים פחות או יותר). הכל נראה בסדר עד שהכנסתי את הדיסק-און-קי לתקע וקיבלתי את הודעת השגיאה המוזרה הזו: “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\hal.dll “. חפרתי הרבה וניסיתי הרבה (לשחק עם boot.ini, להעתקי קבצים חסרים…), שום דבר לא עזר.

לוויתי דיסק און קי אחר (אולי זה יעזור?) זה בהחלט היה שונה, קיבלתי שגיאה אחרת! NTLDR boot record failure, זה בגלל שהדיסק לא הפך להיות bootable למרות הכלי שאמור לעשות זאת רץ ודיווח”עסקים כרגיל”.

היום מצאתי גם את המדריך הזה: http://www.msfn.org/board/install-XP-USB-t111406.html&mode=threaded&pid=737643 למזלי לא הייתי צריך לבדוק עד כמה הוא טוב\רע.

אבל, כל זה היסטוריה עתיקה (ברוך השם), כי היום כשחיפשתי את המצלמה הקומפקטית, מצאתי מלוכה! (מסיבת סיום בגן, פשוט חייבים להנציח! בד”כ אני משתמש במצלמה המחורבנת ב-5800 שלי אבל הים היה לי מזל שאישתי הכריחה אותי לאתר את המצלמה ה-”כאילו” נורמלית) המלוכה בדמות קופסא לדיסק IDE חיצוני (שקיבלתי מאלון לפני המון שנים, אלה מה?) הכל היה בפנים, כל הכבלים, שנאים וברגים הנחוצים להפעלת הקסם האמיתי (דיסק און קי, פחחח- כן בטח). מהר ניתקתי את אחד מכונני  ה-DVD-ים שלי ממחשב אחר, הרכבתי אותו בקופסא החיצונית, הכנסתי דיסק התקנה (מקורי!) של XP והפלא-ופלא, זה עבד!

וואו, ההתקנה רצה, נו טוב – הולכת, יותר נכון זוחלת על הגחון (שעתיים+). כבר הספקתי לשכוח מה זה מחשב א-י-ט-י.

הלאה עם הצרות: עכשיו יש מחשב עם התקנה טרייה בלי דריברים. חסר דריבר של כרטיס הרשת האלחוטית ושל כרטיס הקול. כרטיס קול לא ממש חשוב לי כי אני אתקין כרטיס חיצוני אבל רשת אלחוטית ומסך מגע זה הכרחי, ולמעשה אני גם אשמח שהכרטיס קול המקורי יעבוד וכל הצלילם המרגיזים של וינדוס יעברו דרכו, ולא דרך הכרטיס שיגביר אקטיבית את הרמקולים.

איך מחפשים דריברים? בטח שלא כותבים ” drivers FIC CE260″ בגוגל, כלומר אולי עכשיו זה יפנה לפוסט שלי ותהיה לזה משמעות, אבל עד לרגע כתיבת שורות אלו צריך להתאמץ קצת בשביל הדריברים. הסוד הוא לגלות את שמות המדבקה. מה לא ידעתם? (זה בסדר, גם אני לא ידעתי) הנטופ הזה נמכר בעוד הרבה שמות מדבקה, כגון: everex cloud book\nanobook, packard bell easynote, astone, וכו’.

החברה המקורית (FIC – first international computer) לא התאצמה להכניס כל מיני קישורים מיותרים ומזיקים לדריברים (נכון למועד כתיבת שורות אלו), הרי זה מגוחך! למה שמישהו שקנה מייצרן מחשב יחפש אצלו גם דרייברים? אצל הייצרן?  זה רק טריוויאלי לנחש שיש למוצר עוד אחים זהים בשמות משונים (לא זה לא) ולהם יש דרייברים ל-XP, שד”א כולם (כלומר הקישורים מכל חברות המדבקה) מגיעים בקובץ RAR אחד ושמנמן של 96 מגה, מעין אישור סודי לכך שזה אמור להיות כך.

הערה: מציק לי נורא שאין מקש shift ימני במקלדת המיקרובית הזאת, אבל אני לא מתכנן לכתוב יותר מדי איתה אז אני מניח שזה בסדר.

הערה 2: מציק לי הרבה יותר שהמסך מגע לא פועל אוטומטית ויש קיצור סודי! Fn+F7 במקרה ולא ניחשתם. ד”א לרוב ה-F-ים יש ציורים חסרי משמעות שאמורים להסביר משהו, ל-F7 אין. כנראה הגרפיקאי התפטר כשביקשו ממנו לצייר משהו.

הערה 3: הרבה אפליקציות של ווינדוס ובמיוחד דפי אינטרנט (כגון windows update למשל) ממש, אבל ממש לא מותאמים לרזולוציה הננסית של 840×480.
