The following are the confirmed driver changes for the 2010 season.

Fernando Alonso to Ferrari

Jenson Button to Mclaren

Nico Rosberg to Mercedes

Rubens Barichello to Williams

Timo Glock to Manor

Kimi Raikonen to his home

Robert Kubica to Renault

The three teams making their formula1 debut are Manor Granprix, Team US F1 and Campos Meta.

Campos meta and Manor Grandprix had previous teams in the GP2 and Formula3 series respectively with Manor boasting of Kimi Raikonen and Lemwis Hamilton as their previous Drivers.

The sponsors for their individual teams are not revealed yet but there is a speculation that virgin may fund the Manor Grandprix.

After failing to find a car for 2010, Ferrari’s world champion has announced that he is to leave F1 for rallying.

The laconic Finn’s premature exit was the talk of the sport for most of the year, especially after Ferrari’s 2009 car turned out to be quite a dud. Nowhere was Räikkönen’s indifference more stark than at the Malaysian Grand Prix, where during a break forced by torrential rain, he wandered about the pits with a bar of ice cream instead of remaining by his racing car.

Räikkönen was forced to leave Ferrari at the end of the season to make way for Fernando Alonso. There were talks with Toyota, hampered by Räikkönen’s high price and ultimately by Toyota’s exit from Formula One, then there were talks with his former team McLaren, which fell through. One has to wonder whether Räikkönen’s exorbitant salary demands—rumored to be close to $50 million, very much not in synch with his performance over the last two seasons—were a deliberate move on his part to ease his exit from the sport.

Going where many Finn have gone before, Räikkönen is set to continue his career in rallying. He has, in fact, already debuted in the World Rally Championship: Räikkönen drove a Super 2000 class Fiat Grande Punto Abarth for Tommi Mäkinen Racing at this year’s Rally Finland in August.

He leaves the sport after nine seasons, with occasional displays of devastating speed and a lucky world championship in 2007, when he exploited the rivalry between McLaren’s Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton and the hubris of the latter to beat both at the 2007 Brazilian Grand Prix, claiming the title which had eluded him at McLaren.

Είναι πλέον γεγονός… Ο Κίμι Ραϊκόνεν, πήρε τον χρόνο του να σκεφτεί τι θα κάνει με το μέλλον του, έδωσε τον αντίστοιχο χρόνο και στις υπόλοιπες ομάδες της FOTA να εκδηλώσουν το ενδιαφέρουν τους αλλά τα… φώτα (!) της Μακ Λάρεν δεν τον «τύφλωσαν» ποτέ!

Η «πολυπόθητη» πρόταση που περίμενε ο Φιλανδός πιλότος από την πρώην ομάδα του, δυστυχώς για εκείνον, δεν ήρθε… ή τουλάχιστον δεν ήταν αυτό που θα επιθυμούσε κι ο ίδιος. Αυτό αποκάλυψε ο μάνατζερ του οδηγού, Στιβ Ρόμπερτσον, ο οποίος μιλώντας σε φιλανδική εφημερίδα, γνωστοποίησε πως η συμφωνία των δυο πλευρών οδηγήθηκε σε «ναυάγιο» μετά την διαφωνία τους στο οικονομικό σκέλος αλλά και τους χορηγούς!

Ωστόσο, ο 30χρονος πιλότος που έκανε στην άκρη για να τον διαδεχθεί στην Φεράρι ο Φερνάντο Αλόνσο, είχε δηλώσει πως αν τα «ασημί βέλη» δεν κινηθούν για την απόκτησή του, θα παραμείνει εκτός Φόρμουλα 1 για το 2010. Κι αυτό διότι επιθυμούσε ένα γρήγορο και ανταγωνιστικό μονοθέσιο με το οποίο θα μπορεί να κερδίζει. Δυνατότητα που οι άλλες ομάδες, δεν καλύπτανε προφανώς και εξ’ου και το μεγαλοπρεπέστατο «όχι» που άκουσαν…

Όπως όλα δείχνουν, ο Ραϊκόνεν θα στραφεί προς την λύση του ράλι για την επόμενη αγωνιστική σεζόν, κάτι που δεν είχε αποκλείσει αν τελικά δεν τα έβρισκε με την βρετανική κατασκευάστρια ομάδα. Όπως κι έγινε. Στο μεταξύ, άλλα δημοσιεύματα θέλουν τον Φιλανδό να οδηγάει το 2011 για λογαριασμό της Red Bull Racing στο πλάι του Σεμπάστιαν Φέτελ, διαδεχόμενος τον Μαρκ Γουέμπερ.

Με απλά λόγια η επιλογή του ήταν ή όλα ή τίποτα, όπου όλα η Μακ-Λάρεν… όπως χαρακτηριστικά τόνισε κι ο μάνατζέρ του: «Οι επιλογές στην F1 ήταν με τη McLaren την επόμενη σεζόν ή τίποτα. Ο Κίμι και η Μακ-Λάρεν δεν κατάφεραν να έρθουν σε συμφωνία, άρα δεν θα οδηγήσει στην F1 – τουλάχιστον όχι του χρόνου. Ένας χρόνος αποχής δεν σημαίνει κάτι για εκείνον. Ενδιαφέρεται περισσότερο να παλέψει για τη νίκη και τον τίτλο. Θα λείψει από την F1. Δούλεψε σκληρά το καλοκαίρι – έκανε πολλά πράγματα για τη Φεράρι που μόνο οι καλύτεροι οδηγοί μπορούν».
